22:44 Geoff, Your audience is growing now and there is a Russian girl in it who listens to Michael Jackson, Depeche mode, Rammstein. So Geoff you have a lot of room for experimentation, continue to amaze me with your voice, your humor and talent and with your eyes that shine. And thank you introduce me to music that is new to me, which I wouldn’t listen to without you. With love and respect❤
My God, what an interview! Geoff... this man doesn't exist, he can't be real! As if having that divine voice and incredible hair weren't enough, he has so many talents! And he has a sparkle in his eyes and a look so... pure! I'm fascinated!!!😍😍😍
This man is SO "normal" I can''t believe it. Once I snapped out of my trance (induced by that mellifluous voice) I was really impressed by HOW he speaks and the vocabulary and choice of words he uses. SO down to Earth and relaxed. I was also VERY impressed with Tara! She has a very pleasant speaking voice, and her interview style started a little 'stiff,' but quickly got more relaxed and conversational. The "chemistry" improved throughout... they both became more comfortable, and things got smoother and smoother. BOTH of these two are exceptional artists. Great vid!!
Found them through shorts! But oh my god, do I want every short to be longer… it’s such a grand experience hearing them, I feel like I find new things in their music every time-and yes, I mean VoicePlay AND Geoff’s solo stuff. I love listening to reactions because everyone finds something new and amazing in their work. I feel like I’ve learned more about what makes music awesome since I’ve found these guys than I ever knew before. Love that!! Im no singer but I’m finding the joy in singing to myself more, too. Geoff and all of the VoicePlay guys rock!!
I just discovered Voiceplay like five days ago… I realize they've been around forever and frankly, so have I… But they're new to me, and I am obsessed!… And I'm not a music person… So I don't usually watch this kind of show, but great interview… Really loved it and thank you
Tara, great interview. I have watched Elizabeth's interview with Geoff and Peter Barber's interview with Geoff. Geoff may not be the lowest bass, but to my ear he has the richest and most pleasing bass voice. However if you ask Geoff, he will down play his vocal ability and claim that the other basses are better than him. I like his humility but he doesn't appear to realize how really good he is. So, Geoff is not the one to ask if you want a truly objective assessment of his vocal abilities. I think that Tim Foust and Avi Kaplan are fantastic vocalists, but Geoff Castellucci is my favorite.
You took the words right out of my mouth!❤ (I actually prefer Tim's higher range over his low range.) I appreciate Geoff's humility, I really do. I just happen to disagree😂. His baritone to bass ranges are so rich and warm that it just elevates the material so much. He is so easy to listen to.
I love this guy. This is my second time watching this podcast Tara it’s exactly the way that he sings rather the way that he talks is the way that he sings. Ridiculous. I absolutely love this guy.
Tara, since he mentioned “Carry On Wayward Son”, especially in the context of difficult to arrange pieces, you should check it out (reaction hint 😆). It’s superb!
I just recently watched the interview with the charismastic voice, which was a nice interview. But this here is awesome. It flows naturally and really is a conversation instead of an interviewer just going down a list of questions. Very very well done and such a treat to listen to.
Absolutely love Geoff!! ❤I’m not even a bass music lover. I personally have trouble hearing some of the bass. My preference has been baritone. You could say I was converted, but technically no. Because Geoff is the only bass singer for me. He’s so fantastic !!!! “More Cookies Please. .” how does he manage to be so serious? Yet so funny. I love his comedic delivery. I am a Professional Swooner of anything Geoff Castellucci!!
Peter Barber has reacted to Goeff several times. He has a keyboard beside him and has toned him at a B-0. Peter is an opera singer and also a bass singer.
❤The shorts make for a Wonderful Geoff Castellucci Fix. It’s like it’s been too long. I need some Geoff Castellucci presence. And then it’s like oh Yay!! there he is!! That’s how I got to this interview. Needing some more Geoff Castellucci.❤
I remember back in the 80s in high school I was in choir I used to be able to sing 1st Suprao to tenor bass when I had sore throat . Geoff is one of my fav bass singers
27:00 there is an acapella band named "the bass gang" that is made out of 4 bass singers and they sound absolutely incredible. so it is possible to have multible bass singers and have it still be clear on who is singing what.
Coming out of The Bass Gang, I've really been enjoying Bobby ( Bobby Bass) and his solo work ( Sound of Silence) and his TikTok collaborations ( Hoist the Colours etc....) Please check him out, Tara.
Awesome interview! Geoff is so cool. I love that so many of my favorite singers (e.g. Geoff, Floor Jansen, Aurora) are kind, humble people, that make you even more of fan.
Yo!! ÓLAFUR ARNALDS RULES!! Great interview Tara! You got Geoff to discuss topics he hasn’t landed on in different interviews, and made room for it to be fun and intelligent interview. Can’t wait for you to see Geoff’s latest, Tara. Geoff- a pleasure to listen as always.
Love this interview! Voiceplay is a part of my daily playlist. Everyone is so talented and as a former acapella singer (way out of shape 😅), it's such a joy to listen to their arrangments. Lesson of the day: Always listen to Layne.
I love watching interviews with Geoff - he's such a cool kind of guy and it's good to hear about his history and technique etc. Also: someone please make another Uhm video. he literally speaks in A1 sometimes
What you tell about voice changing reminds me of the voice changing of my four sons: three of them are baritons, my second son changed at the age of about 16 years, the first and third changed slowly from boy sopranoes, ending up as baritones at the age of 15 (the first one) and 17 (the third one), and the youngest, now 22 years old, measures 2 m 5 cm, and he has been a real bass since he was 18, but has the largest voice range of the four.
What a great interview! He always seems just like your normal every day good guy. I love watching the little snippets of his home life that he put on his personal channel sometimes. Somehow he and the others have managed to become very well-known and successful and still remain really good people. I don’t know how I managed to miss your channel since you’ve reacted to him before, but you have a new subscriber.
There are fanously the Three Tenors, so why not the Three Basses? It could become a thing. :) I too wouldn't want to choose between VoicePlay and Geoff on his own. Whevever I see Geoff in videos like this, just being himself, I am always struck by his beautiful loving and humble character. He's just so lovely. Geoff I am 79 now and will go on watching you guys until the day I die. :)
What a LOVELY interview, this was so natural. I really enjoyed this very much, Tara! One of the best, if not THE best interview with Geoff I have watched. Thank you Geoff and Tara!
Thoroughly enjoyed this! I see no reason for me not to love VoicePlay for another 20-30 yrs. I'm 72 now. Follow David Sinclair on how to live longer and healthier. PhD at Harvard feels that with what they are working on now, you can live to 120 - 150 in good health. As long as you will sing - I'll be there.
I loved watching them nerd out about food, but Tara thank you so much for asking those questions about the conflict resolution and their different styles of arranging. Thank you for asking the questions you have because as an artist I’ve been devouring all this information to try and help me become better…especially now that I’m starting my own business too.
Your questions are so insightful and fresh. I always learn something new here even if I've watched several previous interviews somewhere else with that guest. How awesome is that?
Best interview of Geoff yet.😊 Well done! Please remember Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, The Rolling Stones and many others went far past the typical fake age limit for singers. Just keep doing what you do best and the fans will follow! ❤️
That is what I thought when he said that he’s getting too old. My son is his age and I grew up listening to Dean Martin and the rest of the rat pack and so did my son. Come on Geoff. Tim collaborated with the bass gang and with Avi in Ring Of Fire. I'm sure with you, Avi and Tim's ranges you can come up with something that would blow the doors off the Acapella world.
Amazing interview. Thank you Tara for making it happen. I really the enjoyed to conversation between the two of you. Yeah, Geoff's comment about too many basses together sooooo doesn't hold up -- THE BASS GANG is AMAZING. And the fact that all three of the basses have a crazy range as well. I think some crazy vocal gymnastics could be had if Goeff Avi and Tim collab'ed with The Bass Gang at the same time. All or almost all can sing up in the rafters as well as crazy low they could truly hit every octave between them - I mean what would it sound like for 7 "basses" to hit notes in seven octaves at once?
I enjoyed this interview so, so much! You are great, and Geoff is - well, Geoff. I hope you will react to more Voiceplay and Geoff. Their cover of Hellfire dropped today, and Geoff's new one for Halloween drops tomorrow (Saturday)
Early VoicePlay compared to now, the mix and use of harmonies are so much different. I remember seeing the Moana melody the day it came out and I knew it was going to get a lot of views
Oh, for sure. VP was always my number 2 in the a cappella world... they so far at the top of my list now, it's not even close. They have even grew since the Moana medley.
I am really old. (My son was born two weeks after Geoff was.) When he said sitcom all I could think of was me as a teenage girl giggling over The Monkees!!
This is such a fabulous interview! Very interesting and informative. I think the reason that bass songs are older is that we've been in such a tenor obsession culturally for so long.
Geoff finding his low range almost exactly how i found it is really inspiring to me. Idk if im nearly as gifted as geoff, but it gives me hope that I can still at least be somewhat successful with whatever gifts i have
The difference between Avi and Tim was easily heard when they did Ring of Fire. Same notes, completely different tones. Geoff has a distinctive tone as well. I think they would mix well on the right song. On long form videos, VoicePlay usually has at least a 15 to 20 seconds of incredibly complex harmonies and you just don't have the time to build up and come down from that in the shorts. Love to hear your lows. I wonder how many other women could get a lot lower than we're supposed to. I can always hit a B2 and an A2 if I properly warm up. G2 is the lowest I can sustain, and only on a really good day. I've just started to say I'm a female baritone. :)
In case you forgot Tim Storms lowest note is 0.189 hrs. The only living thing that can hear it is an Elephant. Great interview. Geoff is my favorite Bass. I like Tim Foust a lot also, he's just super.
This is such a great interview i love deep voices. My dad is a bass, but he cant go crazy low. My husband loves to cook and clean and grocery shop too i love it. I clean the house and the kids. The kitchen is his domain.
Thank you for sharing this awesome interview with us. Cesar would be perfect as Shaggy. His expressions while he sings & his voice ❤❤❤ I wish Voice Play would do a cover of It wasn't Me. But only if Cesar played as Shaggy. Love you Geoff. How do you keep your skin looking so perfectly radiant ? I bet it's all that make-up you wear. 🙂
Voice Play or Geoff? How to choose between the two? I don’t have to. I do get to choose which reaction videos I want to watch. Guess what? You’re on my list. Thanks for the wonderful interview with Geoff.

In case you forgot Tim Storms lowest note is 0.189 hrs. The only living thing that can hear it is an Elephant. Great interview. Geoff is my favorite Bass. I like Tim Foust a lot also, he's just super.
Wonderful interview! Thanks to you both 😁
This is such a great interview i love deep voices. My dad is a bass, but he cant go crazy low.
My husband loves to cook and clean and grocery shop too i love it. I clean the house and the kids. The kitchen is his domain.
Tara
You and another vocal coach, Elizabeth of Charismatic Voice are only two have interviews with Geoff.
Now that you interviewed Geoff, you have to interview Tim Foust from HOME FREE. Love all your content.
Voice Play or Geoff? How to choose between the two? I don’t have to. I do get to choose which reaction videos I want to watch. Guess what? You’re on my list. Thanks for the wonderful interview with Geoff.
2 extremely charasmatic personalities. Enjoyable!
my most favorite two people talking to each other, this is freaking crazy cool 😭😭
This was lovely and interesting thanks. 🌹
Yes Geoff, Old Man River! (Mel McDaniel's version) I loved the Marty Robins snippet too.
