@@ljfinger - Really, Geoff arranged that version of Elvira? That one was fantastic -- maybe my favorite Home Free video, and that's saying a lot. Having them and The Oak Ridge Boys together was just incredible! So many excellent voices at once! And all the bass… Oh, my word. I just checked it, and you're completely right (as you knew). Right in their description: "Arr by Tim Foust, Geoff Castellucci and VoicePlay" Outstanding!!
I would say he shows off his voice even better in the oogie boogie song. I've never heard that low of a note. It doesn't even sound like a person. I'm a new voiceplay fan but that is my favorite song by them.
React to VoicePlay’s version of “Death of a Bachelor” it’s Earl and Geoff singing all the parts and if you love Geoff’s bass you’ll really love it in this song
Just a little tidbit...Geoff did the arrangement for the Home Free/Oak Ridge Boys collaboration on Elvira. Layne is the beatboxer, Geoff is the bass :)
I’m glad you’ve finally broached VoicePlay. Their Queen in Five Minutes is incredible. If you want something with Rachel again, I’d recommend their Phantom of the Opera.
Tara! Layne is a good friend of mine from down south. Here are their names for future videos you might see of theirs (I hope you watch all of them!): Earl is Tenor 1/Countertenor Eli (pronounced like "Elly", short for Eliezer) is Lead/Tenor Geoff (pronounced "Jeff") is Bass Layne is Vocal Percussion They had another main member named Tony who is on hiatus, so their fifth member is usually a featured soloist. They also just added a replacement Baritenor for Tony, and his name is Jesse. Hope this helps! Thumbs up this comment so Tara can see it please. :)
I'm so happy you reacted to this arrangement; this song was what made me fall in love with VoicePlay. I was giddy just waiting for you to first hear Geoff's solo and then that freakishly deep note. It always gets me. Now VoicePlay is in my top five favorite artists of all time! I love listening to your critiques and comments on these videos; they're so helpful!
@@Rafarinnegan Eh, Eli hits an A1 which is super low, while Scott only can go to D2, which tons of baritones can hit. Chance is a whole god, who can hit F1 in chest.
This reaction video is very fun to watch Tara! (I just wish I could’ve been in this video somewhere... I could’ve passed them a coconut or somethin 🤣) Thanks for sharing the music and love tho. 💯 You’re great!
If you are just now getting into Voiceplay, definitely check out "Daddy Sang Base"! It's a very true representation of their individual talents and harmonies!
I'm so glad you are doing reactions to Voiceplay. They are one of my favorite acapella groups. I'm looking forward to your next reaction of them as well as to the other videos you will post.
This is a big reason why I subbed and watch these. I've never heard of Voiceplay, but I want to! And I would feel more like a dope for not having heard of them but even Tara is new to them. So, now I'll go sub to Voiceplay and go down that rabbit hole. lol... Here goes the whole morning I think... :)

@TaraSimonStudios YES! I've been waiting so long for you to react to this cover! I abso love it and knew you would appreciate it to! So glad to have you take it apart as well, I love learning about the mechanics behind each piece you review :D
You've discovered Voice Play! They are WONDERFUL! All of their stuff is awesome, but my personal favorites are Queens (Geoff blew me away), Phantom of the Opera, and my new favorite: Bridge over Troubled Water. The bass! Holy Moly! I swooned!
more voice play pls Geoff has some crazy low notes, "daddy sang bass", "it aint me", and their twenty one pilots mashup geoff hits some pretty cool notes.
Tara's such a good singer, she often copies a line that they sang on the spot, and it's always bang on. For instance there's a slight trill on "*who* you are" at 8:35, which makes it very pretty. Rachel did it, then Tara did. Most would miss the trill. Tara's a pro.
Tara, your likeability factor is off the charts! I've never listened to vocal coach stuff, and I don't know much about it, but you're really fun to watch and listen to. And you have a beautiful voice as well. I found you today and I have subscribed! Thank you for doing what you do. I think you'll help me as a singer AND a listener.
I absolutely adore this arrangement, and I am very pleased that your video came up in my recommended. Hearing your reaction and the explanations as to how/what they were approaching different aspects of voice work was very neat. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!
Yes!! So glad you discovered VoicePlay! As you may have realized, Rachel is not a permanent member of the group, but a frequent collaborator. I was listening to Geoff’s low “didjeridoo” type hold over and over to try to figure out how long he held it for and I think he actually did take a sneaky breath. I could be wrong, but after the transition to the dark theme and Rachel sings her first line and then the background harmony comes in before his note change. I’m pretty sure he takes a breath just before the note change while the harmony after Rachel’s first line covers for him. Nobody is matching his note for him to take a breath or anything like that, but they’re much louder and just the volume of their harmony is enough for him to sneak a breath before he changes notes. Like I said, I may be wrong but I listened to it over and over again with it bass boosted to make him stand out more and it’s tricky to tell but I’m pretty sure that’s what they did.
Hi! I'm so glad you reacted to them ! If you want to hear more of Rachel, she sang the Phantom of the opéra with Voice Play, and a medley of I put a spell on you and Poor infortunate souls with Voctave. You need to react these!!

He is even dubbed as the “Walking CD” by the Chinese media for being able to replicate the sound quality of his studio recordings on live stages. Would love to see how a vocal coach will react to his vocals 😊 His most well-known song will be Twilight, which won the Pensado award for Best Non-English songs.
