- Still on the Staffs & Worcester Canal at Gailey we head towards Autherley Junction in this weeks Narrowboat Vlog. Travelling through a chemical site, discussing seasonal changes and then witnessing a spot of chaos on the canals in the afternoon rush hour!

Hello, I love Spring the best when everything is coming into bud and opening up into bright greenery after the bare branches of Winter. We are lucky here in Kent because we definitely have the milder weather. Autumn is stunning as well, except for the leaves dropping everywhere, I am constantly out in the garden with a broom. Great vlog Liz, as always. Paul I have just got my bike serviced and starting to use it again, its hard, you did well and I agree with you it is enjoyable although it doesnt look it. Hi Eric there are a few canals that we won't be able to travel on lile the Leeds and Liverpool canal as our boat is too long for the locks but we can do about 70percent of the network all ok. 😊

I’m very envious of your lifestyle, I’m sure it’s not all plain sailing but Iv also had a lifetime on the building and self employed , I’m now in my mid 60s and it seems hard to turn work away ! I’m trying to just cut back but whether I’d be brave enough to sell up and buy a boat is another matter , love your videos and the gentle way of the life you show , the odd beer and tea & cake really appeals and a bit of fishing 👍
Hi Neil. It's a hard decision but not one that we regret in the slightest. We still have the house, rented for the first 2 years to make sure we are happy with this lifestyle before we sell up so I suppose it was sour security blanket just in case we didn't like but we are definitely going to sell next summer and continue our boat lifestyle. 😀

Late to the vlog this week as I had visitors. You are still (at time of vlog) in my area. I was at Dobbies at Gailey on Sunday. Sad to see you moving away but looking forward to seeing the canals that are not familiar to me. You brighten my Wednesdays.

Its strange how we have travelled around for quite a few weeks since meeting up with you and are still not that far from you, we probably will be for a while as the shropshire also runs along side the staff and Worcester so not going to be a million miles away. 😊
@@uponreflection I’m not too familiar with left or right (standing on the towpath) or up or down (standing in the canal) 😱 when it comes to direction. You may be heading towards Wolverhampton but that’s a guess. Is the Manchester ship canal on your itinerary ?
Yes we've passed Wolverhampton now. We are up a little bit from there. Not planning on going on the ship canal at moment. That looks a little too scary, maybe next year 😉😊

Hi folks you would not to moor at the chemical works if you knew what what happened there, the metal work on the bank means they repair it and forget it for the next 30 years nothing to about mooring a cost effective way of protecting the banks. Good vlog as always 👍
Eeekk I guess it's scarey stuff that happens at that chemical work site. Luckily we weren't near it for to long and moored well enough away. Thanks for watching 😊

I really did nearly take my head off on that bridge 😂 We are avoiding any sponsors as we (by we I actually mean more me) like to say it how it is and I tend to be brutally honest so when being sponsored I'd feel I can't give my honest opinion as they paying for us to say it's good 🤣😊

Liz you only need worry about chemical works if there's no foliage on any thing half a mile ether side of the works.and that mirror carp that Paul saw had three eyes

Hi there Andrea, glad you enjoy the vlogs and the scenery, it's good to hear. The canals are so much busier now than they were in the winter months. I'm getting better at my tiller control but still need lots of practise to gain my confidence, especially now it's busier. I'll get Paul to check those bike tyres out. 😊

Armco (piling) is not put on the banks to say this area is for mooring. The piling is purely to protect the bank from erosion.

Hi Susan, we think about house living quite a bit and reflect on what we are doing in life now and we can honestly say that at this time we both don't want to return to living on land. We absolutely love this lifestyle and hope we continue to do so 😉😊

Oh you are Norwich now Mark, you're not far from my mum and dad. They live near Thetford in Norfolk. Touch wood, we've never had any rodents on the boat, we have seen some on tow path before but never on boat. I think it helps that inbetween finding a refuse we keep any bin bags in our now locker at the front which of course is metal. 😊

Hi there, no it's not an app, just go on to Google when near your router and type 'Internet speed test' then it comes up and it runs one for you 😊
Do you have the Speedtest app in UK? Its good for testing your upload and download speeds.
@@susanb4481I'm not sire if there's an app, probably as there seems to be an app for most things these days doesn't there but we just go straight onto Google and it comes up anyway 😊
