  • Did anyone ask for Paul's opinion of the Staffs & Worcester Canal? No, well he gives it anyway! We have a few locks to do in this weeks narrowboat vlog as we head towards Gailey to fill up with water. We learn a lesson or two as the canals get busier. Paul gets the mallet out to bash our front nose in an attempt to reshape it and a nice fishing afternoon is enjoyed.
    Don't, what ever you do ask Paul where we stayed in Otherton!!! ha ha ha how many times!!
    We hope you have enjoyed this latest narrowboat vlog and continue to join us on our future Narrowboat adventures and journeys. If you're interested in narrowboat life, then our channel is for you!

    Greetings from New Zealand, love your vlogs! We were in the UK last year and hired a narrowboat and did the Ashby canal in the first week of October, we had a fabulous time and overall the weather gods were very kind to us. I totally get the attraction of your water gypsy lifestyle and am very envious. I also enjoy your Cockney humour and the banter between you both that only you Brits can do. Hope your summer is a good one, fair winds and smooth seas!

      Thank you for watching John and we glad you enjoy the vlogs. If I remember rightly we had a fairly mild October last year. Glad to hear you had a fabulous time, I really liked the Ashby Canal. Have you been on any other canals in UK?😊

    • @johndawson4921
      @johndawson4921 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@uponreflection No we haven't, it was our first time on a narrowboat and spent the first few days trying not to hit anyone or anything🤣. I chose the Ashby canal because of no locks. We picked the boat up from Stoke Golding, there was one day where it was really windy and raining so we moored up and hunkered down. There were quite a few fishermen on the canal, what type of fish do you catch and are they edible? We're coming back to the UK next year and going to try our luck at house/pet sitting. Cheers to you both and Ernie

    • @uponreflection
      @uponreflection  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johndawson4921 Paul mainly catches Roach and Bream but there are also Perch, Pike and Carp plus a few other ones. No not edible, I certainly wouldn't eat anything from the canals. Its actually illegal to take fish out of canal. 😊

      Hi Mark, my mum lifts me into the bed and then back out again. When I'm in there I tend to either sit up, bark, sniff the air, or sometimes lay day and maybe even close my eyes. I let my mum know I want to get up on the roof by putting my front paws up onto the gas locker..which tells her to lift me 😉😊🐾🐾 love Ernie

    Hey guys, I'd bet it depends on where you are on the cut but, how much busier does it get in the summer? Do you have a long queue at most locks and water points, hard to find a good mooring... for example? Thanks!

    • @uponreflection
      @uponreflection  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Roger. It depends on where you like to moor. If you don't mind mooring on pins rather than finding armco then you won't really have any issues. If you like to be near a shop, village, pub then yes they get very busy and you can spot those types of places by the amount of boats moored up. Touch wood, we've never really had a problem with it being busy and not being able to moor but then we don't decide where to moor in advance if that makes sense. We see a nice spot and then moor so never really an issue unless of course we can't moor because of it being too shallow or something. 😊
