A couple of things that will I improve your experience with sublimation.
Pre heat for 5 - 10 seconds to remove any moisture in fabric, it also make sure you have a flat surface
Use a lint roller otherwise ink will fuse to lint and leave spots on item pressed item.
Use butcher or parchment paper between your sublimation sheet and heat press. Sublimation ink changes to a gas when heat is applied so it you want a layer to collect the off gasses and keep you press clean.
Ghosting occurs when print moves, there is heat resistant tape (regular or painter tape will not work, they melt) that will hold your print so there is less chance of print moving.

Ohh I'm so excited for you to be doing more sublimation stuff! I bought a whole printer and everything you need, minus a heat press (I have my easy press) but it is so daunting! I haven't touched any of it since it came in the mail MONTHS ago! 🙈 I'd love to see more tips and tricks for it. Maybe I'll get the courage to actually put it all together then 🤣

thanks I bought some sublimation sheets at a local flea market to make for my husbands birthday . It didn't work it was way to light so I tried the bleaching thing but it still never had the awesome colors in your video one shirt was a flannel and one was like a workout shirt blend. dri blend . So I am so glad you are doing these videos his birthday is next week since they can be reused I am going to try again.

Hello.. just curious. I’m trying to make some shirts for mine and my husbands business. He actually ordered some that I hated the vinyl feel to them, it felt like plastic. After watching your video I’m wondering in sublimation is the way to go.. you mentioned darker colors. Does it not work on dark colors and it seems to have like a watercolor look to it.. is that just because of the design you chose? I need to research this sublimation more lol.

Auntie Tay - LOVE your videos and have been wanting to try this for awhile but as you said - it's daunting and the equipment is pretty expensive. Looks easy doing it this way, but when you're on the Smashing Ink website and go to choose your size, what do they mean by "Print Ready", "File Prep Needed" or "Custom Design". In other words, which should I choose for an svg I want them to put on sublimation transfer paper for me?
About at the 5:40 mark it looks like she has chosen the "Print Ready" Option! Hope this helps! :)
I think they have the option to help you prep it with design.
Are there predesigned sublimation designs for mugs &/or tumblers?
Go to Creative Fabrica, you will have to buy the designs or sign up for a monthly subscription, but there are tons of sublimation files on there.

Hello. I am a beginner with everything. I would like to know if the cricut heat press is as good as a big heat press?
Not really..it will do in a pinch but imo the heat press is way better
I just purchased a easy press and wish i just ordered a heat press instead. If u know your probably going to be doing other stuff in the future heat press defo
These can also be used on any colors. Sublimate the transfer and bleach out the area where you want it white. I stay with Gildan soft style Heather colors only. They're 65/35 poly cotton. The cotton will bleach and the polyester will allow the image to remain. For brighter colors use poly t spray. Otherwise it's a lighter vintage style.
Hello. Are you saying you just bleach the area where the design will be? Or are you doing one of those bleached shirts that are so popular now? I’d love for it not to look bleached at all because it would be covered by the design.
@@tanes2570 yes, some do just the area. Hardest part is the area spreads once wet.

They went up on their prices!! They must of gotten alot of trafic and decided to bump their prices!! A 13x19 custom transfer is $11.00!!
Not worth it!
I am the owner of Smashing Ink. We did not raise our prices because of this video. The cost of supplies have gone up and that is the reason prices increased. The price increase actually happened about a week or two before this video was posted. The option that is $11 is for us to custom design the transfer for you. If you provide the design, it's only $6. By only charging $5 for a half hour minimum of work, I am actually losing money on the custom option. We are super excited that Auntie Tay has chose to use us and feature us but if you feel that $11 is too much for the print and custom design work, you are welcome to find another vendor who does sublimation transfers.
