A Casio MRW totally saved my ar$e when I was in a tight spot. I'd been relying on my phone to tell the time for years but suddenly needed a watch for a new job for little or no money. It had to be cheap, tough, accurate, legible, lightweight and effectively disposable - this little Casio totally fit the bill! It also rekindled my interest in watches and I've moved on to bigger and better things since. Despite buying it as an emergency 'burner' watch at a difficult time, I became very fond of it and will keep it in my collection forever.
Very similar here. I had quickly killed a few 'better' cheap tool watches, including the Duro. This lasted 3 yrs+ as a truly beaten tool watch, and this vid has made me want to replace it!
How crazy. I picked up two of these a few months back and absolutely love them and was wondering why they weren’t getting any love. Great to see this in the channel. Keep up the awesome work TGV!
So glad to hear that Bandrew, these things bloody awesome. Let's hope more people discover them, I feel rather late to the party! I hope you are well. O&U! Best regards, TGV
I'm having the same dilemma in shopping for a (used) Speedmaster. Omega went nuts with the variations on that model whereas Bulova made one Lunar Pilot.
Truth! You don't need 20 options in the $12-$20 range. At least, not so many that are so cosmetically similar. But maybe you have to hold onto those older terrorist models with the horrible lume because so many people want to keep replacing the ones they already have.
IMO they are the ultimate beater watch. Was bought one years ago as a work watch, used it in the steel industry for must be around 9 years until I retired recently, just couldn't kill it. Great watch.
Glad to see you back on the affordable trail. I have had the MRW-200H for donkeys- in pools, the sea, hot tubs, etc. and never let me down! In fact, it was my first ever dive watch.
This really is an indestructible and durable watch. I bought mine 6 years ago at Sears for $18.99 and now I wear it to work. I work in construction and I have put mine through hell. It’s still running, keeping great time and I have changed the battery twice. Great watch!!
I can attest to how tough these are. Have had my first one for 10 years of a very hard life. On its second band, third battery, bezel glued back on multiple times, crystal polished so you can read the time. Still works fine. I also wear a different mrw when shooting sporting clays. A couple thousand rounds of 12 gauge recoil and still works fine.
Mine is going on 5 years with the stock battery. What a good looking beater watch. BTW, when one can appreciate both the classic Rolex Pepsi and a $20 Casio, you are truly a watch aficionado.
A 15 quid watch but a million dollar style video quality. Absolutely smashed it Tristano. Amazing watch with bezel timer, day date and Casio accuracy. Mental good value.
I've always loved Casio's analog watches. They're such nice beater watches and they actually look great too. I must say, very impressive quality too under macro lens.
If they made an all analogue G-Shock version of this watch, with dimensions similar to the casioak, with good lume, mantaining the rotating bezel, but making it unidirectional, and adding solar powered, like the latest casioaks, it might just be the ultimate dive watch.
@@adrianmark613 I wish I could. I do it as often as possible, but I DO live in 4-season territory, so I'm much more limited than usual. The Great Lakes are full of wrecks, but not necessarily the warmest water. I usually go through most of October and stop when the water gets too much below 60. I don't use a suit so it's a thing. 🤣
You simply can't go wrong with a Casio. Kind to your wallet and always bring a smile to your face. I personally love my Casio digitals but if you are looking for an analogue grab and go this fits the bill. Superb watch
It’s so wild that you not only made this video, but mentioned the TLD tag as I’ve been dying to scratch that itch, on a budget as of the last few weeks! I may just scoop one of the white dial variants! That’s for all the hard work, content, and inspiration as always.
After watching this video last week, I went into the case and pulled mine out. It had been relegated to occasional "around-the-house-beater," but your review elevated it beyond that. It has been proudly on my wrist for the past seven days. I've always thought its looks punched well above its weight, but during the recent heat and humidity, I was pleased with the comfort of a lighter, non-metal watch. From splashing around at the beach, a ball game and a family BBQ; it felt good and looked great on my wrist. Thanks for reminding me that price should not limit wrist time. I finally enjoyed this watch as I did the day I first took it out of its box.
Thank you fratello. BTW, I got your email, going to reply soon! Been busy with family for July 4th holiday yesterday. I hope all is well, catch up soon! T.
It's crazy, I bought this watch back in 2012, and have changed the band three times now (workout, swim), and it still runs like a champ 🏆💪all these years, even the gold accent bezel turns absolutely fine!
I’m brand new to the watch hobby and just recently bought my first watch. I love your channel and your willingness to discuss watches of all types. I really love your channel and am getting an education in watches! Keep up the great work! ⌚️
Crazy that you did this video, because this watch is so cheap, but so awesome! I have this model in just a slightly different color scheme...I believe mine is the MRW200H-1BV. It's all black with white hands and numbers. It honestly keeps amazing time, it's lightweight and very comfortable, plus it looks pretty slick. I have several really expensive automatic watches and some nice quartz watches, but I wear this Casio everyday. I've had it for a year and never had a problem. It's extremely reliable and if I bang it up eventually, it's inexpensive enough that I can just buy a new one. Great review!
This was the watch that got me into watches. I wanted something analog bc growing up I only had digitals. I only ever referenced the time from digital displays also (microwaves, vcrs, etc) and I literally couldn't glance at a normal clock and know the time and it embarrassed me. I bought the MRW bc it was cheap and looked cool. I totally fell in love with it and beat the hell out of it at work and it just kept going. It has been through the wash and slammed against concrete and still works fine.
Wow, what a cool way to get into watches. I hope it will continue to do that for many more people. I love this comment. Thank you so much for sharing that. Best regards, TGV
Got mine in the mail yesterday and it lives up to the hype. Simple, durable, conservative watch that does exactly what I need it to and nothing else. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll be wearing it to special forces selection.
Thanks for the great video on one of my favorite watches. I bought one in FL while on vacation, was looking for a tough, cheap, beater watch. This one fit the bill perfectly, been in the ocean, pool, hot tub, etc. This is my go-to watch for travel, yard work, anytime I want to wear a watch I don't have to worry about. Inexpensive, accurate, tough as a tank; well done Casio.
Great video TGV! I have this exact model in my collection for the past 9 years. It's the absolute beater watch in the analog realm. Also doing some research after my family gifted me this watch, I found that Nasa issued the watch for some missions. Very cool that something so simple has such heritage. Best regards
During the law school admissions exam we were only allowed to wear analog watches. I wanted something highly legible, cheap, and reliable. Bought an analog Casio with large numerical hour markers. It worked great and got me through exams. Hope you're doing well friend.
I wear the heck out of mine and also put a small compass on the strap to kick it up a notch. Great job on the review, mon ami! Love the reference to NASA using this lil gem of a watch. Now, I'll wear mine with a little more pride. Ciao.
I have three of these in my collection of Casio's, the black dial version with all white lettering and numerals. A white dialled version and also a camouflaged version. All good watches for the price which also have 100M water resistance, you can't go wrong with these. Thanks TGV for your review.
Great to see the Casio MRW-200H getting reviewed it's a truly great watch and I will always own one - great time keeper, legible, comfortable, good looking; even the strap is good (I was worried it wouldn't last after I'd gone through 4 or 5 straps on the F91W but 2 years on and it's as good as new). I got the white numerals version. I bought one because I was struggling to read the time on my F91W, couldn't be happier. The bidirectional bezel makes timing things so much easier than a unidirectional dive bezel too.
During the early nineties my grail watch was Tom cruise’ Porsche design orfina. But back then it never occurred to me that a black watch with a black band could be pvd metal. I thought it must have been plastic. A local shopkeeper had one the 80s version of this and it fascinated me. I even thought the date window looked like another hand. Fast froward to 2012 I was lucky enough to visit Japan. And on a footpath stall we’re dozens of cheap Casios including one of these with more of a field watch aesthetic. Had to get one and still have it.
Completely agree with You Tristan. I have the white numerals version of this. I wear it at the beach, for doing DIY, fixing the bike etc. Great size, light, durable, ultra legible. In fact It ought to be the blue print for a new generation of G-Shocks. Would love to see an 'up-spec' 'up-armoured' version of this. Awesome.
Great choice! Definitely adding one of these to my Casio collection. I will make another case for the Casio MTD-1053D, costs less than the Duro and fits smaller wrists better. I have mine on a mesh strap.
I got this watch for under £10. I’ve had it for over a year, the second hand hits every marker, and it keeps time like no other watch I own. I love it.
Yes, spot on, remarkable timekeeping, something like 2 secs per month for me! I have the MRW-H300s solar version which is keeping silly time at about 1 seconde per month. I'd recommend that, but I think they have stopped making it. I have a 7.5 inch wrist, so need a bigger watch. It looks great, but it doesnt have as useful a bezel.
Great video - I've had the 1BV version for a couple of years, it's a great weekend watch. I can go swimming with no worries, it's lightweight, and easy to read. I didn't know that it had been used by NASA and has been featured in movies and TV, so that's a nice little bonus!
Thanks for another amazing video. I love how you still possess integrity for the passion you have and continue to develop content that is original and informative without falling for the honey trap of reviewing watches that are the trend and doing the service of gray market shops. I stopped watching many watch channels because of this. Many start of original but become part of the it. They exchange their madness for watch collecting for views and watches. Anyways, keep up the amazing job. We all appreciate and value the content you produce.
Great video as always TGV! I absolutely love these little gems. I've got four of them and smile every time I pop one on my wrist. Many colorways to choose from, around $20 depending on the model, and 18mm lugs to pop them on a NATO for the best sub-30 dollar analog Casio has to offer (or anyone has for that matter). Cheers!🙂👍
I have owned several of these, yet must say the gilt version looks incredible, amazing design language at a price point accessible to so many, love it! Thanks TGV for the review!
I love this watch. The black & white 1BVES is available in the UK from Argos for £20, a bargain. But be warned you will want to get more variations, 1 is never enough. I can vouch for that 😮. Thanks TGV for another great video, fantastic production, chapeau sir.
Got this watch as a birthday present six months after seeing this video. Love it! So tactical and lightweight. Very cool. And used by NASA!!! Keep up the great and fully comprehensive watch market journalism TGV! I'm a fan boy
Bravo! The Casio MRW 200 and its bigger brother the MRW 210 are inexpensive but not cheap, functional but not simple. They are worth more then $20-$25 price tags. The MRW 210 and TGV got me back into watches after I ran into some dark times and had to sell most of my small, modest collection. Many thanks!!
Ah yes, the MRW-200H. One of my first watches when I began aquirong pieces all those years ago. After replacing the strap for around the same price as the watch, it has been languishing in my watch tool box. As other watches garnered more wrist time, this Casio lacked one feature, the bezel doesn't tu...WAIT WHAT! *dashes downstairs to watch toolbox* OMG.
Had mine for 6 or 7 years now.Easy to read and easy to change the battery.Unless they however have improved the strap they last about a year then start to crack.I found an aftermarket mrw 200 strap for a couple if quid and its actually much better. For the cost and as a general purpose analogue I love them.Whats not to like? Timing bezel and the day and date and very easy( for us that have poorer eyesight) a gem.Mine is scatched up now but still love the dam thing.
I have one and love it. I did the (hydro-mod , adding oil inside the case) on it and it completely changes the look of the dial, the dial and hands appear to be magnified and displayed directly on the surface of the crystal. Very interesting to see the before and after 👍. I was concerned about battery life but After 2 years the watch still keeps great time.
I got a HDA-600 for around $20. I love the little beater. Casios are the potato chips of watches - can't stop with one and there's always room for one more. 🤣
The MRW-200H is one of the hidden gems Casio has. Happy to see how it's getting the good reputation it deserves. There is also a solar powered version, the model with reference MRW-S300H if I am not wrong. You will spend up to 20 years before you have to replace it's battery.
Yep. I have this watch (black with white hands version). It is my beater/home improvement project/cycling watch. I've had it for probably 7 years and only replaced the battery once. It still looks almost as good as new and I love it for when I don't want to risk damaging my "good" watch.
Glad you finally review this watch. I owned the MRW200H watch since 2 years ago and it's the best analog beater around. The only down side is its thin strap & cheap resin material.
Excellent video TGV...I always love these affordable Casio reviews, especially with the 80s and 90s cinematic nods. I've been considering the white dial version as a Living Daylights styled addition to my collection. It's one of my favourite Bond films, and as a James Bond obsessed Casio fan it seems like a winning combination.
I have 6 of these in various colors including one with the stainless steel band and black dial. As a healthcare worker these are my go-to workhorse watches. These watches have proven to be reliable, very accurate and easy to clean. I also like the 100 meter water resistance. The Casio MRW-200H is very lightweight, practical and highly functional. These watches are very easy to read at a glance. I've replaced the band on one of them after about 3 years. The batteries last over 2 years and are easy to replace. The bidirectional rotating bezel is a plus even though it's not dive watch quality- It works good enough. I've gotten many compliments on these watches over the years, I have many other watches but these are among my favorites and get the most wrist time due to my work. For the price, it's hard to beat.
Casio has been my favorite watch brand for awhile now, but especially now with with inflation and everything costing an arm and a leg. It's nice to be able to scratch that itch and not feel guilty.
Fantastic video TGV, thank you! Its practically impossible to beat Casio, in particular at the affordable end of the spectrum. What amazes me about the brand is its the same company that makes this ruggedly handsome tool watch, the amazingly well finished do-it-all watches from their Oceanus line, and pretty much everything in between.
Your video editing is insane, all the cuts to the 90's awoken some latent memories inside me from when I was a child! When I saw Command and Conquer and all those movies and commercials, I was like WOAH, I remember those!!!
Good evening TGV! That's one of those OG Gentry videos! And I have to say, the quality of the video production is outstanding! Well done, sir! Best regards!
Thank you Heiko, very kind. Few things get me as motivated unpretentious and a trusty affordable Casio. I hope you are well, here's to you my friend 🥂😎 Best regards, TGV
Just purchased today. I'm going to buy a watch as I achieve certain milestones and this is the beginning, carefully chosen however. I just like the look of it and the price is unbeatable. When things are 5x I will buy another one for that milestone. Its just a little game I am playing.
I was working in construction for 15 years the last 8 years i was using this same watch, and still running with only a battery change and a strap! Just put a nato on it and this is a beast beater!
I had the OG black n white variant yrs n yrs ago and give it my father 2 yrs ago who absolutely loved its legabilty he wore it right up to the time he passed away last yr aged 84 and left it on at his funeral.. Here in UK ARGOS are selling it 13.99 gbp In which ive just purchased for remembering him by.. Such a great watch i wore it as a daily beater yrs before hand so for me this model has a lot of nostalgia...Highly recommend anyone to purchase this cult classic .... Great review TGV as usual...🥰
Brilliant review. Again, you’re the only person I can watch talk about luxury watches (even though I won’t be able to afford one for a long while) because you can feel the genuine appreciation of each time piece you review. Reading Gregory Hays’ version of Meditations right now. 👍🏼
Some time ago I watched a video where an army officer shows how to use a tank - he clearly was wearing a MRW-200H with green numbers. Very practical for military - durable and readable :) 1:58 - now Casio makes MDV-107, identical to MDV-106 except that it doesn't have the marlin logo - I read somewhere this is because licence on the logo expired
Amazing value watch and unbelievably accurate. I've had mine for two years now and it's the only watch I wear in the pool or the sea, swimming or snorkeling.
Loooove the intro!! Salma Hayek!!! Heading to the last video to see the 80’s version

H'haine, Selma, Baywatch, C&C....Thank you!
🙌🙌🙌 That made my day, I could not agree more. Thank you, onwards, upwards and best regards!
Best regards,
TGV
£13.95 now, in Argos……I’ve just bought 7! Gonna gift them to my mates
Great intro and 90s montage! Love how TGV just loves good design and isn't a snob ❤
Absolutely love the Hanhart stopwatch in the background! What a great way to commemorate the trip!
I love it! I’m ordering one now and 9 more as surprise gifts for my small team at work!
Info on the mod please?
Sold, I bought this and the Casio A700W-1 on your recommendation today. You're the Man, Mr TGV.
I got a HDA-600 for around $20. I love the little beater. Casios are the potato chips of watches - can't stop with one and there's always room for one more. 🤣
Great montage on opening. It catches the feeling of 90s pop cultures!!
CASKX? :D
GENIUS!!!!!!
I love it 👏👏👏 Lets see if anyone can top that!
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Glad you liked that, TGV. If it sticks, I may have to buy it.
This is now a thing. 😆
Bingo we have a winner!!!
I approve this message 😂👍🏾
I feel the same way. Buying a Casio is easy on the wallet and still ends with a cool watch.
Love the 'Pusher' poster on your wall! GREAT and totally underrated classical Danish action movie!
Love these!
I have 5 so far.
Completely worth the cost.
😉👍
👏👏👏
Absolutely awesome. Enjoy and thank you for sharing.
Best regards,
TGV
That intro is dope! And as always, quality content!
Casio Duro has become too expensive here in Asian market
Exactly 😭😭
I bought one for 90 bucks!
thank you for the opening montage. confirmed that i am not least bit nostalgic for the 90's!!
Love that drinks trolley in the intro. Pure class!
Had two of these watches for work cheap but are unbeatable for the price cannot fault them
That montage... well done.. *slow clap of respect*
Your video editing is insane, all the cuts to the 90's awoken some latent memories inside me from when I was a child! When I saw Command and Conquer and all those movies and commercials, I was like WOAH, I remember those!!!
Thank you so much 🙌🙌🙌🙌 So happy to hear that. O&U!
Best regards,
TGV
I chuckled at some of the very British comedy references - The Day Today, Filthy, Bottom and Red Dwarf! Very well compiled intro!
I love these types of watches. Watching your video to being ordered on Amazon within 10 minutes 👍🏻
Good evening TGV! That's one of those OG Gentry videos! And I have to say, the quality of the video production is outstanding! Well done, sir! Best regards!
Thank you Heiko, very kind. Few things get me as motivated unpretentious and a trusty affordable Casio. I hope you are well, here's to you my friend 🥂😎
Best regards,
TGV
I have this watch and I love it! It goes with me whenever i need a tough watch to withstand my various outdoor activities. Great review!
My 7 y/o daughter lives mesmerized by my TT Submariner, so I got her the PINK one. Loves it!
Love the “Bravo Two Zero” reference…great book!
I’m definitely a Casio and Seiko guy myself. The value is amazing. Thanks for the video and hope you had a good 4th sir
Just cant get enough of your videos...
Brilliant review. Again, you’re the only person I can watch talk about luxury watches (even though I won’t be able to afford one for a long while) because you can feel the genuine appreciation of each time piece you review. Reading Gregory Hays’ version of Meditations right now. 👍🏼
Thumbs up for the intros alone 👍 as always a great review and thanks TGV.
I just picked up the white dial version with blobs/circles instead of numbers, neat looking watch and incredible value
Cheers from tx, glad you’re doing well
That intro of the 90s... Have me in tears. Best time of my life
This felt like an episode of top gear reviewing a watch, and that’s good!
I really appreciate the effort you put into your intros.❤
Woww! Such a thoughtful video TGV!! Thank you Sir for showing us such a hidden gem!!
Some time ago I watched a video where an army officer shows how to use a tank - he clearly was wearing a MRW-200H with green numbers. Very practical for military - durable and readable :)
1:58 - now Casio makes MDV-107, identical to MDV-106 except that it doesn't have the marlin logo - I read somewhere this is because licence on the logo expired
Amazing value watch and unbelievably accurate. I've had mine for two years now and it's the only watch I wear in the pool or the sea, swimming or snorkeling.
Still have mine from from about 10 years ago. This video makes me want to pull it out again. Thanks for the reminder!!! 👍
