You hit the nail on the head Jody. A true beater should be something you can stick your hand into a tight squeeze without a second thought and not be disappointed when it gets a scratch. I work construction and I would never wear anything that costs more $100 to work. Today that looks like a timex Ironman. It wears all its scratches proudly and it’s littered with paint. I think anyone on my crew would be happy with this guy as well.
I agree, but that means all my watches are beaters! Lol. I stuck my hand in a big metal machine. My acquaintance says "NO YOUR WATCH!" "Whatever it's Sapphire." I also threw my Rolex at a guy who wanted to see it. Threw it. Over hand. If it can't handle a throw it's not a good watch.
You’re a wild man, I also work construction and regularly wear watches over $100. Very durable watches around that range. The only watches I’ve ever broken have been my Vostok and my Casio chronograph.
Definitely, I used to use a Timex Ironman for my beater, loved it. I recently switched to a Casio DW-291H and am even more happy with it. World time, 200M water resistance, 10 year battery, under $30. I changed my oil last week, it got covered in goop and scratches, wiped it off and went about my day.
To each his own. Some prefer 1 beater watch to last their whole life vs. a disposable resin beater that will fail after a few months. I know someone who has a Rolex beater, it's an indestructable tool watch, to quote - "you could knock tent pegs in with it". That said, mine is a Casio MTD-1048.
@@micbarker6256 which disposable resin watches fail after a few months lol? I literally try to get mine to fail so I can buy and wear new ones. So far no luck. 4 years with the cheap Casio W800h. Farming, arborist and landscaper. Took it apart on the weekend. Not a single fleck of dirt under the plate. I love mechanical watches but they’ll pack up quicker than a Casio digital that has no moving parts.
The only >$1K watches I can imagine anyone "beating" are things like the Oris Aquis - which are designed to be pretty tough in the first place. Then again, those type of watches excell in chemical resistsnce/resistance to the elements (extended exposure to saltwater at extremely high pressure) rather than the shock associated with _literally_ beating something 🤷♂️
because of this video i bought this for a trip to mexico as i wanted something that presented proper watch and something that wouldn't kill me were it to break, get lost, or stolen. INCREDIBLE piece and worth every single penny. multiple days in the pool and in the ocean on some light snorkling/swimming. not a hiccup in sight, its light enough to forget its there, but striking enough to wear to a proper dinner. i had even fallen asleep with it two nights as it just was hardly a difference from my garmin tri watch i wear almost daily. cheers to you and this vid, dare i say i'm going to buy another as a backup beater should this one finally give up the ghost one of these days.
My personal definition of a beater watch: any watch you wear during an activity with a high probability of damage to the watch. Activities such as handling heavy equipment, golf (when the watch sustains shock), hand washing dishes, etc. Either the watch is specially constructed to resist damage, or it’s so cheap that you can easily replace it if the damage is irreparable.
@@drzaius844 Kitchen sink. Hot water. Sponge. Dish soap. Watch with minimum 5ATM WR worn because I usually have an activity right after dishwashing is done. (Dwelling not configured to have an appliance dishwasher.)
JODY....IT IS ABSOLUTELY YOUR FAULT!!! After watching this video this morning, I had the urge to buy 'just one more watch!' I did what you said and I bought a classic, iconic Casio DW 5600E ($48..92) I had one many, many years ago. Call it whatever you want, daily, beater, or anything else. I just remember it being an excellent and tough watch! I guess this is what I get for being one of your subscribers!
The problem is I keep buying beater watches and falling In love with them. Then there not beater watches anymore. And so the collection grows......great video Jody..as always.
Surely the f91w is the ultimate beater, even cheaper, wr, alarm, stop watch and light. Put one on my bike handlebars on a bit of plumbing insulation foam. Then take it off and wear it when camping. Can leave it on all the time as it is so light.
While it is 'water resistant' it would seem silly to rate it the ultimate beater when you can get a watch with proper water resistance for not much more. Yes, I know they can actually survive water, but why take the risk of needing to replace a beater more often than is necessary?
@@StringyPete If you go scuba diving, then you'd be right. But I have f-91w for years, and I swam with it numerous times... and it's still going on perfectly. Casio's 30m WR is 100m for some other watches. The only problem is that case coloring (mine is goldy) is getting a bit off with time, but someone would say it's a nice personal patina. LOL
I don't think I have ever been 30m below the water, I'm not sure I'd really want to be, the F91's biggest problem isn't its water resistance, it's the back light, W86 is a better version of the same basic watch in most ways, apart from being a bit bigger (assuming compactness is a selling point of the F91 for you).
For me, I have one watch I wear. It is my daily beater watch. As I work in a bike shop I actually beat on it day in and day out. So for me this is not mixing up terms, just describing my style of wear. If you say you beat on your watch on a desk in front of a PC on the other hand, I see what you mean with mixing terms.
I bought a MRW-200 five years ago for a holiday in Florida just to have a cheap diver. I thought for snorkeling 100 meters should do and I was right. I was diving down to more than 5 meters and stayed in the water for hours, no problem at all. The holiday watch has become my daily now, it wears so well and is so easy to read, I really like the uncluttered dial that you dont get from any G-Shock. When changing the battery I realized it is really a G-Shock, just without the mineral cristal but I like the acrylic even better. But inside the movement is protected with the same rubber cage the G-Shocks have as well. I have white hands on blue dial making a good contrast, so the thin minute hand is very clearly visible and distinct from the hour hand.
I'm Asian and relatively hairless. Never been able to grow a beard, I shave about 3 times a month. Not too many things I can get to brag about, but Casio's have NEVER pulled any hairs from my wrist. I love all my Casio bracelets. You gotta take the small victories where you can!
I hope that Casio realizes that lots of people love this design. Perfect feature set, layout and design. If they made this in stainless they could easily charge $60-80 for it.
Do I need another beater watch?…No. Will I end up buying another one by telling myself it’s always good to have a spare?…Absolutely!! Cracking video as ever.
Before buying some other watches other than Casio (before watching your channel) I bought a Casio WS-1100H-4AVEF on sale in a local supermarket. I was not happy with the stiff strap and I remebered that I got a spare bracelet from my old A-168 (my first watch ever) where one lug was broken after 11 years of daily wearing. That bracelet took the new watch to another level since it was worn and not shiny anymore, matching the case perfectly and wearing super comfortable. Plus that bracelet reminds me of some very good times I had with the A-168 till it died on my wrist 🥲
Just bought the Casio MRW 220HCM from Amazon India, under 15$, as it was a Deal of the day item! Can’t thank you enough Jody! You are doing an amazing work !!!
I nearly had an emotional breakdown when Jody tossed that watch 🙈 I know personally I would have had someone behind the camera catching it or have put out pillows or padding for the watch to fall on😅. I love the white dial thought and I wish the Duro still came out with the white dial (I'm eagerly awaiting my blue version)
Casio impresses me with just how much watch you get from them for so little money. I have four Casio "beaters", none cost over $50 and they all represent incredible value for the $. Most sub-$30 watches are just junk, but Casios are solid and well made.
G shock has been my beater from the time I joined the Corps in 1986. Even after getting our I continue to wear them everywhere. Love the watches and will always have at least on if not more.
This is a great watch! My girlfriend bought it for me on Valentine's day in the camo and resign band. I gave it a leather band and it's so great to wear and easy to read! Love it!
I have the black version and my old eyes are overjoyed at the prominent white hands on the black face. It is just fun to wear when I am just puttering around the house, running errands or doing casual activities. Thanks for another fun review!
I bought 3 of these in different colours based on a previous recommendation from JOMW and not disappointed, lovely little things, although I did go in the pool with one and it leaked so I had to take the back off and dry it out - maybe my error? Have had an another Casio for 9 years . Been though all kinds of abuse - skiing, house restoration, sea and it never missed a beat or needed a new battery. Amazing really.
For me personally my G-Shock is my beater (GA-2000-1A9ER, can get for £75). Its definitely what I use when I expect any wear & tear (gym, manual work, swimming, biking, surfing etc). I'd probably buy the one in this video as a beater for my kids or something, but not for myself personally. Love Casio's inexpensive reliability, really hope they maintain that for many years to come.
My beater is my casio gshock ga100 fantastic workhorse ive had for over 10 years. Its survived working with acids, watee, hit with hammers, slipped drill and the ultimate test ..... Was used as a babys chew toy. Still going strong with a couple of battery changes and had to re sync the ani/digi , has one stiff button but otherwise great. Cannot recommend it enough
Have one of these as my daily. Awesome cheap beater. Got the black with white lettering re-did the lume on the hands and lumed the numbers (Re-lume is a must) added a green nato strap to finish.
My beater is an analogue G-Shock. Got it for working with power tools when coaching robotics. The kids could be a bit rambunctious so it got a few hits over the years. It cost me 2.5x your limit but I wear it when most any other watch would be at risk. Have I thrown it across a room without worry - yes, to get it on a cleared table away from what we were doing. It looks as good today as it did the day I unboxed it 10 years ago.
I purchased the older version with a black face and black silicon band from a local Walmart store for $21.95 USD. (Casio Men's Dive Style Watch, Black MRW200H-1BV). It has been thru several household jobs such as car washes, lawn care, auto mechanics, etc. Truly a beater watch and still looks fine with casual attire. Thank you for the *"Polywatch"* glass polish recommendation.
I love when you do these videos on these cheap Casio’s Jody! They’re great to pick up just for fun! I knew I was going to pick this one up within 10 seconds after the start of your review!
I’ve got three MRWs, the black on black with white markings, one with orange markings, and this white dial on bracket. These have to be the absolute best VALUE watches out there. I’ve got Mudmaster, other G shocks and Luminox that I use for rough work and these little gems have been put through similar treatment. I’ll wear these when I want a watch that can be used In tough conditions without the need for other functions like ABC, or for that matter lume, but at 1/20th the cost of the muddy it does the job of telling time without any fuss, and looks good as well. The black resin version has a similar look to the Luminox…but without the tritium. I got the white and steel version as a more casual watch and have worn it more than I thought I would, especially on holidays in summer at the beach. Good looking, very legible and very low stress.
I have to say I actually have an aversion to quartz as a beater. A requirement for a beater for me is multi-day trips camping and/or adventure motorcycle touring. I couldn't leave for one of those trips with only a quartz as I'd be afraid the cell would fail on the trip. I know, I know, there'd be several days "warning" of it stopping via the seconds hand skipping a beat, but that would drive my OCD crazy so I'd have to have a backup watch. I'm much more likely to choose something like an Invicta 8926 (I have several of them, modded), low end Seiko diver, or my manual wind Khaki. The only trouble I've had "beating" an auto is when my old Monster stopped running after too many turns behind a pneumatic impact in the garage. A jeweler sorted it for $25 and I'm more careful about that now. Cheers, Jody! Keep up the good work!
Great holiday watch too , as you've previously pointed out , bud. I bought the Duro for work then changed the strap and it's just too pretty to destroy. Work/Beater is now the Steeldive Cpt Willard with the rubber strap , really comfortable and sapphire so not too worried about banging it on corners etc.
Hello Jedi Watch Master! You know what? After watching you review a yellow and purple Casio, I bought a bunch in 2019 to give as gifts to my family... different colors or course.
I gave 5 of the resin version, of this one, out as gifts for Christmas presents last year…also 5 Casio G-Shocks…DWG5600’s with conversion kits to make then Nato strap compatible. This version will be a popular Christmas gift this year! Thanks for the fun review Jody!
Hi Jody. Great watch and a great watch. I just bought one of these for work, as my faithful F-91W just gave up the ghost after 9 years. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
This Casio MRW-200HD-7BVEF has been out for a wee while now Jody.... I got mine back in January 2021 from Amazon UK for 30 quid. A cracking watch, I had to put it on a white Casio MRW-200 strap though, as my arm hair was being assaulted by the metal strap. It looks good on the white plastic strap with the white face, quite a Summery combo with no hair loss!
I've had my all black one for over 2 years. It's my work beater watch. As a Groundskeeper it's put in work too. Keeps good time and very durable watch ⌚ 👌🏾
They're great aren't they? I bought two of these earlier in the year, one of which was the white dial and bracelet version. I wanted to experiment with hydro-modding and I thought these were a good choice as I wouldn't lose too much if it all went west. They worked out well, so then I hydro-modded a very nice Casio Edifice Chronograph. They so pretty when filled with oil. Thanks for the review.
I saw a guy during lockdown 2020 who bought one as a beater because his actual “beater” which was an expensive mechanical or something couldn’t be repaired as the shop was shut. He said he ended up wearing the Casio every day and there was “just something about this watch”. It became one of his all time favs and confused him as to why as non expensive,
@@benno_360 They're just simple honest watches that don't pretend to be anything more than they are. Casio are the king of cheap plastic watches that are reliable and endearing. The AE-1200 is another example.
@@urielalbertosanchezm I saw those ae-1200 on Ozbargain, $30 for the gold and $40 for the silver. Back in stock end of the month, tempting.. prefer the silver,v some people fit a stainless bracelet to them. The resin straps are so comfortable and light though.
@@G-rig6969 You can get custom leather straps for them from Vario, though they cost about as much as the watch. You can also get adapters for them so you can use normal size straps.
Thanks for your Holiday Watch Review...... I had to buy one, with orange dial, Works Perfectly with my bicycling, Cheap, Light and I am wearing it with pride. Thanks Jody keep it up
I think everybody needs a beater in their collection, agree with your definition! My personal beater is the CasiOak GA2100, love it design-wise and it has so many useful functions while being thin and made out of Resin!
I have the black face with dots. I took the plastic strap off and got a black nato with two red stripes. Put it on it and got over the 18mm being a bit narrow. The red stripes gave it all a “bit of flash”. 😄 Use it in the garden, on walks etc.
This is a nice looking watch for a beater, IMHO. ITS ONE that I would wear every day. I’ve not been much of a Casio watch fan because they are mainly digital displays. I’m a bit old fashioned and I prefer an analog display. I understand the functionality of the digital ones, but anything I have to get out the manual to make it work is not handy. I will just use my phone for these functions. Thanks for recommending this watch! I’ll have to get one for myself. Great review as always Jody!!!
As a mechanic my beater has to be something strong so I use a gshock 5600 also use my modded skx I have tried other cheaper casios and digital watches but they just don't stand the abuse I put them through. Everyone's beater is subjective someone working in an office or getting their hands dirty has different needs . Keep up the great work Jody 👍
I like it. I decided to buy one from the local Casio dealer, but would like to go for a black dial/bezel combination for two reasons: 1. It looks more like a true field watch on a stainless steel bracelet; 2. The minute hand looks bigger white on black. What do you think, Jody?
Saw the vid, bought the watch, it's now on the wrist (even though I already have the resin version) much more comfortable than the resin too, white hands / black face = great visibility
For Canadians, the term "beater" originated with cars, in that a "winter beater" was a car you would drive in the winter, when ice and road salt would be hard on your more treasured car (which you'd store in the garage until the weather improved). [A car to "beat the winter".]
My beater is tough and a quartz and I could chuck it across the room with no worries at all. However it certainly wasn't cheap. It cost me £600. It is a Casio G-Shock GWG-1000-1A3 Mudmaster. This Casio MRW looks really nice. May consider one of those!
I have a job that is very rough on watches and own the orange with the resin band. I do love the style and color, the poly really works well on this one. The lightweight also is a big plus. Spot on review Jody.
Skmei 1622 in metallic pink and blue is the beach watch (I don't like the term beater) for me, it's resin so salt water won't attack it and since the beach is also a great place to lose stuff it is ideal if it does one day get lost. I live on the coast, it is now on year 3 so it is certainly waterproof for enough casual frequent swimming. Love it's bright colours, wouldn't swap it for a Rolex, because who in their right mind would take an expensive automatic watch sea swimming.
There is one more thing, being farsighted,I prefer the analog dials, they work better for me.Btw,I am using an MRW-200 with the orange idexes and I like it a lot.It replaced an MRW-300 solar, which died on me just 3 years after purchase (not a battery issue).Well said about the metal bracelet, although most of the under 100 usd watches bearing these,9 times out of 10,the bracelets are junk. For a few more bucks, someone can get an after market,or a factory option fiber strap to replace it.Great video, good work.
I work on cars and my daily has been a Casio square G-Shock for years. The crystal is still in really good shape because of the raised bezel. Seem like this would be a great beater as well.
I put my white-on-black example on a black nato with black fittings. I think it looks quite luminox/marathon -ish. The springbars trap the strap, however, so you have to be careful how you install it.
I like this watch, Jody, but I have another genuine beater you should really look at it: the Casio Tough Solar "Illuminator" analog. They tend to run just under 50 bucks, and they are truly a big body G-Shock lite. Bulletproof, waterproof, shockproof, solar. Okay you can't really shoot them, you can't go below a million meters in the water, and they won't survive an atomic blast. But that's pretty much the limits! Light as a feather, very easy to read with a hand on a tool or a handlebar, and they even come in some snazzy colors if you look in the right places. Anyhow, another fun review. Thank you.
Perfect timing, Jody!! i was just looking into getting one of these. This should help me make up my mind ;) I just wish there were better bracelet option for this watch.
I have a black banded white faced one. I love it as much as my Tudor and Rolex. I wear it doing chores or anything that might compromise it. I’ve already given one away to the kid who runs errands for me and picks up from the County Clerk.
Last week I won an auction on eBay Italy for a brand new Marathon Navigator sage green, it is going to be my new beater watch from now on. Previously in 1988, I bought a no-date Rolex 5513, plexiglass, discounted for sale in Switzerland and wore it seven days a week, four weeks a month for about thirty years until he started losing 20 minutes a week. So I decided to take it for a full service. Not to Rolex, who have outrageous service prices and a nasty habit of swapping parts for non-original period and model ones and keeping your original spare without returning them to the owner. I found a very good watchmaker who did an excellent job photographing the process with detailed photos of the wholly disassembled movement, water resistance, and precision tests. Before, I had taken it a couple of times to a local jewelry shop to professionally polish the plastic glass. The Rolex had been my beater watch since.
My work watch is a Seiko SK809...cheap at just over $100 small so it does not get in the way too much, and reliable enough. And if i should bust it,not a great loss.
I was looking for a watch I wouldn't worry about while swimming or bike riding, but something with the easy timing of a rotating bezel instead of a digital stopwatch, these supercheap Casios are the best! I ended up with the smaller brother to this watch or the Duro - the LRW-200, a 36mm diameter "ladies" version - they are available regular "adult", "girly" and "toy" trims and are really fun! Too bad there's no middle ground at 38 or 39mm.
I am a big fan of the Casio AQ-S800W line as beaters. Around $50 or less, ani-digi, tough solar, timer and alarms, lume on the hands for low light visibility, led for dark time checks, and all plastic for peace of mind.
Nice one Jodi, a good honest day to day beater that you wouldn't care about if it got damaged. Different beaters for different people is also a very good point, I can't honestly imaging anyone with active neurons firing between the ears would have a mechanical Swiss watch as a beater unless they really hated it or needed some help. If you still need to tell the time for a beater then I agree it's hard to beat a G-Shock, these things just keep working battery permitting of course. These Casio's look ideal though and are possibly more versatile than an entry G-Shock.
The all black MRW-200 was my first Casio and daily beater for about 5 years until it died. Think I paid $12 USD for it at WalMart. When it died, a 2 pack of replacement batteries was $11, so I just trashed the watch and bought a $45 (at the time) G-Shock 9052. The 9052 is being semi retired soon for a G5600, 5610, or 9000 series, I can’t decide which I want first.
Thanks for this. I just bought one on ebay. I had a 10 dollar coupon, so I got it for about 17 bucks. Pretty stoked. I do not have any light colored face watches, and this seems like a nice attempt for me. Thanks J.
I understand beater watch, it all depends on how you use the watch or what kinds of things you are doing while you wear it. I work in my woodworking shop, I work in my yard, I work on my house, I work on my cars. I needed a watch to wear for these activities and it will get banged around and get dirty. (When I was working on cars full time in my father's garage I was wearing an Omega Constellation. It would get covered in dirt and grease so I would clean it with soap and a toothbrush.) As a watch enthusiast I went through a lot of watches. Even when I bought a sub-$100 Seiko 5 it was still too nice of a watch to get beat up. I finally bought a used Casio quartz submariner and was willing to let it get dirty. Later I bought a very beat up Luminox Navy Seals watch and that is my current beater watch. It is already so beat up that I can't hurt it.
I have this in black with the rubber strap, picked it up for £8 from a charity shop. It is a working watch along with my G Shock, Casio digitals and Timex.
I suppose the definition of beater differs for everyone. My pam024 is my beater, I take it in the woods, the lake, to the park with my kids and its got tons of scratches to show for it. Its my second most expensive watch so I’m not exactly moneybags, its just the watch I enjoy wearing the most and getting all I can out of it. I haven’t quite tossed it off my wrist into the closet and don’t think I’ll be doing that anytime soon
I have a Casio Tough Solar analog/digital watch that makes me happy. It is gathering some light scratches on the 'crystal' - glad to hear that watch polish will help with those.
Every scratch, or drip of paint I get on mine, I'm glad it wasn't one of my Hamiltons, or my Glycene, Zelos, or any of the others! I saw a guy review the black on black resin, and he tested the waterproofing by running it through the dishwasher! The crystal fogged up, but cleared up pretty quickly, and it was ready for more abuse!
I've got one of these with the yellow face and black case. Great little watch and I picked up a nice nylon strap from Ali Express. Mine came with a rubber strap that is just OK. I notice 2 dislikes to this video. Who in the world could dislike this ?
I agree, its great to have a beater watch in the collection (or 3 in my case). The Lorus Lumibrite Military Watch - RXF41AX7 is my go to atm. The lume dial is great and its cheap enough to be disposable. Around 30 quid from Argos in uk. Put a good strap on it and its reliable, cheap and cheerful. Its also small enough for me to wear comfortably on my 6.5 inch wrist.
What's the next stage up from a beater? Is there a "Beater Scale"? My GW-5610 G-Shock isn't a beater, but I use it when I'm camping, boating and hunting? But I really love it for those memories of the 80s and I'd hate to see anything happen to it.
I'm wearing at the moment Casio MRW-200H-2B3VCF, its dial, writings on it and the chapter ring is like Orient Mako. Its quality is perfect and second hand meets the markings precisely.
Agree with your beater definition, mine will always be my sub $100 gshock solar atomic. If I had to say one of my non digital I would say my Citizen promaster tough I found for new. $125
Hey Jody! Thanks for the philosophical consideration concerning beater watches. If I were to define what a watch snob is, the Breitling guy might serve to make a point therewith! 🧐
I went with a Vostok 710059 for my everyday watch. Is it a beater? It’s picked up a few scratches (polywatch sorts that👍). I show it a little respect by removing it if I’m doing some really rough work but other than that it just keeps going.
Well I did it- as soon as you lobbed yours I took of my stealth mod black Casio royale and chucked it across the room! Didn’t feel silly at all! Then I heard ya recommit doing so hahaha It felt good!
I have one of the black resin band versions, probably because Jodie recommended it in an earlier video. It does almost everything you want from a watch except showing off. Great watch. Not so sure I'd go for a rattly metal bracelet - a resin band for a resin watch feels more honest. But whatever floats your boat. Sure an F91 may be cheaper but it's a little too small on my wrist and I prefer analogue.
My beater is - beside my old Casio quartz - the NH35 Loreo Jody recommended - just under 60€, 200m WR (stated), bezel one-directional, not great but usable (might try to add a lume pip on ot, or change the insert), bracelet feels great
Great video. I completely agree about the term "beater watch". It reminds me of the old saying: "Good girls go to Heaven, but bad girls go everywhere." :-) I'd like to vote for another Casio for a great Hard-Duty watch, The Casio MTP4500D-1TN. It's a Stainless Steel case and bracelet that's has the general look of Seiko's Flighty. For 45 USD, you get a nice looking 42mm quartz watch with stopwatch function that will take the rough work all day and still be pretty enough to wear into a restaurant with a jacket where a rubber banded chunky G Clone would be inappropriate. (That's not a slam on G Shocks and their brethren)
Good review Jody. I love Casio. I collect their G-Shock models though I do have an MRW in black. It has chrome numerals which makes it stand out. My latest is a Hidden Coast GA-2100
I agree with you on not using the term "beater watch". I never call timepieces I use on a regular basis as something as degrading like that. Instead I call them daily watches.
Cheapest in UK: £40 ...from Israel. Bollocks to that, for about £7 more I'll stick to Vostok: dive capable to 200m water resistance (actually at least 700m according to "Beyond The Press") very customisable and not fixed at 43mm, replacement crystals available for about ten quid. I bought a Lorus with 100m water resistance and fully lumed for £30 from Argos. Thumbs up anyway for the review.
You hit the nail on the head Jody. A true beater should be something you can stick your hand into a tight squeeze without a second thought and not be disappointed when it gets a scratch.

Ironman since 1985. Proud.
Thanks for that beater rant, it really grinds my gears to hear people brag about using >$1000 watches as „beaters“ 🙄
I know. I think sometimes it is an attempt to flex, sometimes just not quite the right term.

@@micbarker6256 Philosophical question for you: if a *beater* watch can last _"[your] whole life",_ can you truly say you're beating the watch? 🤔
because of this video i bought this for a trip to mexico as i wanted something that presented proper watch and something that wouldn't kill me were it to break, get lost, or stolen.
Man, how do you hand wash your dishes???
@@drzaius844 Kitchen sink. Hot water. Sponge. Dish soap. Watch with minimum 5ATM WR worn because I usually have an activity right after dishwashing is done. (Dwelling not configured to have an appliance dishwasher.)
I just got one of these from eBay myself. I've decided that it's both my grail and my beater.
LOL
@@StringyPete I dived down to 6 metres with a 100m WR watch, zero ingress. They’re tough little buggers.
@@Chungleas WR 30m doesn't mean it can go 30m below the surface.

And what watch is it mate? I'd be keen to find out!
Check out the MWA-100-HD. It comes near to what you said and I love that design.

I will, thanks.
That's their business model, apparently: The most watch for the least money. And they've gotten VERY good at it over the years.
Love it!
My beaters are a Vostok Amphibia, a $20 Timex Weekender, and a $50 Casio G Shock. I heard John Mayer talk about his $80,000 beater.
I've heard he is a d-bag
I have the black version and my old eyes are overjoyed at the prominent white hands on the black face. It is just fun to wear when I am just puttering around the house, running errands or doing casual activities. Thanks for another fun review!
I'm still wearing my Casio A-168 as a beater watch. Three years and still going strong.
Whats your wrist size? 6.75 inches and worried about it looking too big
It’s videos like this, Jody, that make you the absolute best reviewer in the game.
Got my resin strap model last june 2015, after 3 batteries and straps replacements i wonder when it's going to finally break so i can replace it???
I have this one in black resin...paid 1.00 new in box at a garage sale....love it. Thanks for the video.
I've had my all black one for over 2 years. It's my work beater watch. As a Groundskeeper it's put in work too. Keeps good time and very durable watch ⌚ 👌🏾
Casio for the win. I threw my G Shock off a building for a laugh. That's a beater.
It's like the nokia 3150 series. They just don't die lol

Use it in the garden, on walks etc.
I like it. I decided to buy one from the local Casio dealer, but would like to go for a black dial/bezel combination for two reasons:
1. It looks more like a true field watch on a stainless steel bracelet;
The Ultimate Beater!
I just promised myself that I don't need another cheap quartz watch, and now I _have_ to get this!
I guess you get what you pay for with this one, and you don't pay all that much....
There should be some great replacement bracelets available on Aliexspress. Maybe Jody or someone would be kind enough to share a link 🤔
A black silicon band would look sharp on it too
You can use a generic bracelet, 22 or 20mm, and grind the endlinks down to 18mm.
@@williamwallace9427 Half-price Duro wannabe? :D
Thanks J.
beaters you need to look at the lorus field watch stainless steel case lumibrite dial Seiko movement and you can change the strap at $30
Indeed. Its very similar to the UK military G10 case. Looks good on a Bond nato strap.
@@peterwallace1277 I'll check the g10 out
Got 3 of these now in different variations. love them. great "beater" watches. Wear an old Tag as my bestie.
90% of my collection are beaters. I guess that’s what happens when you keep finding G-Shocks at charity shops.
Curse you for that suggestion... now I will have to start checking there too!
Pawn shop prices are laughable 🤣
This is my dress watch! Dw5600 is my beater. Excellent video.
I have a Casio Tough Solar analog/digital watch that makes me happy. It is gathering some light scratches on the 'crystal' - glad to hear that watch polish will help with those.
(I think it cost $30 usd and has g-shock presence without the g-shock sticker shock)
Looks so great on the bracelet. Really like this, a great "beater" option. ;)
I've got one of these with the yellow face and black case. Great little watch and I picked up a nice nylon strap from Ali Express. Mine came with a rubber strap that is just OK. I notice 2 dislikes to this video. Who in the world could dislike this ?
I recently bought Braun BN0231 for £35 ! AUD 66. A super cool little beater.😎
THE KING OF TEEEE'S! Another great video! Thank you so much for this Jody!
I'm wearing at the moment Casio MRW-200H-2B3VCF, its dial, writings on it and the chapter ring is like Orient Mako. Its quality is perfect and second hand meets the markings precisely.
My beater is a heuer 980.006 1982, this thing has been down 150m and traveled the world !
Agree with your beater definition, mine will always be my sub $100 gshock solar atomic. If I had to say one of my non digital I would say my Citizen promaster tough I found for new. $125
Jody, you have turned me into a Casio fan, I never was but now I have a few and I can honestly say thanks. 🙏
The hands are for a smaller watch and look odd on the bigger dial I see that on a lot of brands that have different case sizes...
Then I heard ya recommit doing so hahaha
It felt good!
Casio AE1300 with the folded alloy bracelet is my beater. I love it and every mark on it is a badge of honor 🎖
My beater is - beside my old Casio quartz - the NH35 Loreo Jody recommended - just under 60€, 200m WR (stated), bezel one-directional, not great but usable (might try to add a lume pip on ot, or change the insert), bracelet feels great
Just got a timex with indiglo for my working outdoors at night beater. The beater needs to match the “mission”
Great video. I completely agree about the term "beater watch". It reminds me of the old saying: "Good girls go to Heaven, but bad girls go everywhere." :-)
I'd like to vote for another Casio for a great Hard-Duty watch, The Casio MTP4500D-1TN.
Wow. It happened! This watch has been creating a buzz lately, rightly so. Thanks Jody!
Finally!!! someone to put that stupid “ Beater Watch " term into a more Realistic perspective and context...THANKS Jody! 👍🏽
