I tried just running the sat nav off the 12v socket on the front cowl..but it wouldn't Charge the sat nav as its only 5watts output..but it will be ok to hardwire into front cowl..?.

I've only run mine from 2 places. Originally, I had it hard wired to the battery. However, now, my XT2 is hard wired to the 12v socket shown in the video. It is not using a 12v plug in the socket. I spliced the 12v wires and added my XT2 wires to the 12v wires. My XT2 charges and rings without issue.

I should add: if you're trying to use a USB to power your XT2, it will not be enough to run AND charge your device. You should get the direct to battery charger...not a direct to battery, to USB, adapter. It needs to be direct to battery....no USB involved
