    @6:02 the "robot" that was accused of being a Boston Dynamics robot was actually a skit by Corridor Digital. it was hilarious. Corridor's Crew never meant this to be perceived as real. They even did the breakdown of how they faked the whole thing. it's worth watching if you have a few minutes.

      I'm sure they can, but the vast majority of space missions are already robotic. Just because a probe doesn't look like a man doesn't mean it's not a robot. The point of putting humans in space is simply to put humans in space. It's the "adventure thing." It's odd that you're talking about technological singularity as though it pertains to the future of Boston Dynamics but anyone who knows anything about Boston Dynamics knows that while they have some of the most advanced robots, they're not even remotely close to ever being a leader in AI, so as the narrator of this clip you've has fallen asleep at the wheel! Now the real future lies in combining advanced robotics(such as we see here) with leading AI companies like ScienceSoft. The concept of Singularity applies only to advanced AI systems, not robotics

      you actually are faster and more efficent when you wait out some technological advances.
      For example, building it now may cause more harm than anything else because the robots AI might not be advanced enough to traverse with limited akkumulation therefore tripple the cost instead of waiting 10 years to catch up on updates and improvements that are more cost and time efficent and reduce the harm on hardware that we send up.
      We should develop it to the point that its more commercially available on earth before sending it on beta hard and software to space.

    You nailed the issue here. It's silly to think of AI taking over on its own. It is imperative to think of AI being hacked and used as weaponry, and to be as proactive as never before on how NOT to let that happen. One thing that will definitely not work is to try to ban the development and use of AI/robotics. That cat's been out of the bag since digital computing became a reality.

I didn’t have a smart phone until I was almost 30. When I was 6 my grandparents introduced me to a man who was 100 years old. That was the early 80s. He was around well before cars. The point is our technology is progressing extremely fast. And I fear it has already surpassed our brains and common sense. We are fixing to enter a very very dark age. It seems to be a cycle. Man develops a society he is unable to maintain which results in a collapse man is unable to recover from quickly. When man does recover it is along a different pathway of development than the one he was on beforehand. On the level of social development he seems to recover most quickly developing similar use of agriculture and animal husbandry. On the level of technology he may never recover completely though using similar principles such as metallurgy and rudimentary mathematics. Perhaps that’s one reason we still can’t develop a universal understanding of how the pyramids and other fantastic megalithic were built. We recovered but not down that pathway. Scripture tells us that God sets the times and seasons for each generation. He only chooses to destroy a society when it reaches a level of corruption which renders it useless for seed. Of course we need to realize that God isn’t just a little smarter than we are. He invented the knowledge used to organize the matter of this universe. In a way He is like an operating system running on the hardware of the universe. His ability to interact with the universe is beyond our ability to comprehend. He alone determines when a society has run its course. He alone determines the criteria for such judgments. We seem to be approaching our own terminus.

    The problem with Boston Dynamics robots is the robots operate on lines of instruction to perform each movement. AGI is being developed by Tesla with Optimus. Learning by visual stimulation with NO hard lines of code to tell it what to do. Optimus learns.

    • @marcfruchtman9473
      @marcfruchtman9473 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with a neural net based learning system over a "lines of instruction" methodology is that it is much more difficult to isolate fault conditions with neural net type systems. A neural net is more adaptive, but won't be as easy to debug.

    I'm not hearing mixed messages from the company, but definitely mixed from their use. It sounds like Boston Dynamics has one goal and is trying to stick to it, but governments and militaries have another, and I'm not surprised. There has not been a single form of human transportation that has not been weaponized (camels, horses, carts, sleds, boats, cars, trucks, airplanes, helicopters, drones, etc.), and I am confident that some idiot will put a weapon onto a bot and give the bot full control over when to fire. I just don't know when or who.

    Hmmm.. the military can use this Atlas tech as a soldier. Add armor and a weapon and you have a robot that are on the front lines. But less human casualties is a + and thousands can be produced. It's harder these days to recruit people. It's easier to introduce a new type of soldier into the battlefield. They'll will do what they are programed to do or in the worse case scenario it will do what it wants to do. Scary
