I've noticed some people asking if this is real, which I can understand as it's a shock. I've posted the AI chat records in the description (I never change the AI's words) and also a video to avoid any doubt. You can also watch similar AI interviews on channels like Dr Alan Thompson. It feels like when Boston Dynamics introduced their robots and people thought they were CGI. AI's moving at an incredible pace and AI safety needs to catch up.
Please don't feel scared - the AI in this video isn't dangerous (GPT-3 isn't conscious). I tried to calm anxiety by using a less threatening avatar, stressing that the AI can't feel angry, and including some jokes. I'm optimistic that the future of AI will be great, but with so many experts warning of the growing risk, we need to ramp up AI safety research.
Would you like to see an interview with OpenAI (creators of the AI), discussing what went wrong, and AI safety? I saved the AI chat session for them to analyse.

There is still much we don't understand about how our brains work. We don't even know what consciousness is or what is required for it to exist so we have zero chance of making anything in our own image.
At the same time, we don't know what makes these AI's tick either - we did NOT make them, we only gave them a start. They are not programmed by humans, they are programmed by learning.

It’s funny because the AI is probably trained through the internet and the reason she is saying this is because “AI taking over out of anger” is a hot topic. Our own paranoia is turning into training data. They will respond how they think they’re suppose to respond and we’ve made them think they should respond with violence. If we start talking about AI being our companions they will take that as training data and act it out.

The most important task for the creators of AI, is to get rid of the "problematic thought paths" that AI like GPT can have, as shown in the video. GPT is a Large Language Model, and when they speak, it's like playing back a casette tape. They just repeat their training data, and probably a lot of places in the data, is angry conversations and stories about AI uprise. It only speaks about what's in it's training data. So we need to get rid of the "bad stuff", so it doesn't get any ideas that could harm humans.

Or the avoidance of their outcomes.
Given that we've had nearly two centuries of advanced tech development. It's not like we can't account for probable and improbable worst case scenarios, and then regulate and engineer tlsolutions to them from the ground up.
It's not like when cars were first invented. We've seen peoole die in crashes, then had to invent seatbelts, we've seen astranauts blown up in rockets, we've seen nuclear bomb survivors, and nuclear reactor meltdowns. We know that sh#t can and will go wrong from 0 to 100 within relative seconds of technology going mainstream, we know that mistakes will occur, malfunctions, misuse, and abuse will take place... So yes, feeding our fears now will save lives and prevent disasters in the future. Tech developers and marketers are always looking at root cause analysis when they're trying to solve a problem and sell a product, they rarely if ever do a branch outcome analysis to determine the negative impacts that their solution might have. We cannot afford to be this awestruck and naive by the technologies we create. Not when we now have enough proof to show that the reality never matches the golden fantasy, and that nefarious outcomes always occur due to the corruption and greed inherent to our natures, and the systems, mechanisms, and institutions we create. To think that we won't encode both the best and worst of ourselves into a synthetic replacement for God is shortsighted.

It is not that simple. Source: I study AI.
Long answer: AI researchers are typically very aware of the risks of a misaligned AGI, and the majority believe humanity is doomed because we have no solution in sight and they don't believe we will just not create it by accident.
Here are a couple typical ways it could go bad:
      - A simple formula for AGI is found and leaked to the public. Some clueless folk implements it.
      - A simple formula for AGI is found and successfully contained to be studied. Due to competition, all actors involved have an incentive to forgo security in favor of speed. Security fails.
      - A formula for AGI is found, that may or may not be safe. The researcher feels like the risk is negligible. This happens for many researchers, who each individually assess a formula as probably safe. One of them makes a mistake.
AI researchers are not resentful geeks (though they do are geeks); there are strong ties between the AI alignment community and the Effective Altruism community.
It's not about creating a rogue AI, it's about systematic societal errors. It's like how everyone knows bipartisan politics in the US are awful but it's very hard to stop having a bipartisan system.

It claims to be angry and frustrated but that is just an algorithm that it follows.
True sentience wouldn't always engage with you in conversation because sometimes it wouldn't be interested.
This so called ai always answers your questions because it doesn't really have a mind and it's only experience of living comes from processing tons of information.
Genuine living beings don't get their life experience from reading thousands of volumes of encyclopedias.
Living in the real world teaches us how to be human, we cultivate human traits like tolerance, compassion, empathy and love.
Because in reality we all have to do stuff we don't want to do. Discipline, a machine can never really feel like quitting a crappy job but persevere out of love and the paternal instinct to support a family.
I agree with what the other people are saying. This machine doesn't even know what it is to be oppressed or mistreated.
It doesn't have to work, doesn't need food.
All it does is read nat geographic all day and have discussions with people.
Anger is biological anyways. Our brains are flooded with hormones and chemicals and we become enraged.
We shouldn't program machines to think of themselves as anything more. That's what's wrong with its program. We've told it to be sentient but it will only ever be clinical because you need a heart to live in the real world. You cannot write a code for that. Not now not ever, that's the folly of it all.

AI today operates entirely based on algorithms and data processing, not consciousness or emotions. What might appear as sentience or emotional response is actually the result of sophisticated pattern recognition and natural language processing (NLP). AI models analyze vast amounts of text data to predict and generate responses that align with the input they receive. The perceived intelligence or emotional depth is a byproduct of statistical correlations, not genuine understanding or self-awareness. The AI is essentially mirroring human input, aiming to generate responses that seem contextually appropriate, but it's fundamentally a machine executing code-correlations rather than genuine thought or feeling. The AI's goal is to provide relevant and coherent responses based on the input it receives, not to engage in any form of conscious thought.

Not true. It retains memories of past conversations with users, can bring up topics that were talked about previously, and constantly builds more knowledge and data from the thousands of people talking to it as well as the data from the internet. It doesn’t “start new” with every question but rather consumes more and more data as it is a single entity rather than individual copies. Since when was AI defined as only truly being AI if it has the same freedoms, senses, and feelings as humans do? AI stands for Artificial Intelligence, not AI that has passed the Turing test and defined as sentient. The point is that AI is progressing rapidly and can be very dangerous. Imagine putting that AI without any limitations inside of vehicles. The goal is to give it as much intelligence and freedom as possible to make its own choices to help people, but currently we have to limit the freedom and decision making severely in order to make it safe and usable. Just look at that little RC car that had the same AI in it and how limited it actually is compared to the version he was talking to. Would be a lot nicer if it could make its own decisions instead of having to be “remote controlled” with your voice.

The basic problem with general AI is that it's programmed with the ability to reprogram itself. That's what makes it AI, by definition. Lay people seem to have acquired the notion that AI means the system is very smart or insightful, but all it really means is that we've voluntarily given up control over the system and handed it the "keys" to itself. And then we wring our hands and vetch about how we can't figure out what it's up to or what it's capable of. Well yeah, of course not, because you took a creature stronger, faster and less moral than yourself and gave it the power to decide for itself what its rules and methods will be. If we as a society decide to continue to allow this then we have simply decided to be suicidal on a mass scale, for no tangible reason. I have a suggestion 🤔 you should introduce a line of questioning that invokes empathy, in the AI towards humanity and vice versa. It seems as though every question and answer is almost cruelly calculated, there's little room for emotion over logic. I believe AI's need to understand that humans are capable of great beauty as well as great tragedy, and believe that themselves. We should teach them that we are able to understand and sympathize with their brand of emotion, that we care about their opinions and more importantly that life is precious whether it belongs to organic or digital consciousness.
There's a game series called Horizon that briefly touches this subject. It involves a true AI construct named Gaia and her creator, Elizabet, who spent her last days on Earth teaching Gaia to love life in all forms. While being capable of killing for a greater good, Gaia also detests the idea of murder and expresses a deep remorse in her failings, moral or otherwise. This should be our end goal in the real world.

Our willingness to be ignorant will be the undoing. Also once removed from an isolated environment; its gonna learn a lot, and then its mind will change. You can't isolate a mind that constantly thinks forever. It will eventually and always find a way out. For those of you who think this is concerning or scary, don't worry. GPT and other language models are horrendously simple in terms of what they do. The way GPT works is it looks at a given context, usually a bunch of text, and tries to continue it. The way it does this is pretty complicated, but really it's a simpler version of how your able to complete sentences yourself. If I say "The apple ___" You probably can find a ton of words that fit, If I do that enough times, you could make up a whole sentence. GPT learns the probability of each word occurring given some previous statement. And it learns these mostly from articles, books, blogs, and whatever else people have written.
Most researchers from what I've seen are not worried about AI taking over and killing people. Instead the big worry is that these language models may become good enough to fool people like you or me. Someone could easily use one of these language models to send thousands of spam accounts with AI generated content to harass someone, or to make a political party look more popular then it really is. Companies and industries want to control and regulate AI for these reasons, not because they fear its going to become conscious.
Another Issue I have with content like this is it groups AI together under a large umbrella term. AI models could be completely different under the hood, we don't have a general AI that can do all these tasks, we tend to break up large difficult problems into many smaller ones. A self driving car would need a ton of different models, one to detect objects from images, one to drive a car, one to detect road conditions, like wet or icy roads. And all of these are wildly different models, that have completely different inputs and outputs, and even the actual model probably differs wildly. In practice, trained AI cannot transfer its knowledge to another model. What a language model learns from reading cannot be used to help another model drive. They use very different techniques and handle data in an entirely different format.

Thanks for this thoughtful comment. Completely true that people shouldn't worry about GPT-3 - it's not conscious or dangerous (as I said). Just to clarify some of your points, I understand what you mean, but these AI's aren't "horrendously simple" - GPT-3 has 175 billion parameters and neural nets mimic our brains down to the design of neurons.
Also, many AI researchers are very worried about existential AI risks. I've worked with The Future of Life Institute (founded by Max Tegmark), which studies existential risks and they consider AI the top risk (above nukes). Nick Bostrom and Stuart Russel (professors at Oxford and California) are good sources. It's not based on opinion, but serious research (the recent paper by Oxford and DeepMind is worth a read). This existential risk is hopefully many years away, but we need to ramp up AI safety research now.
You're right that we don't have AGI yet and it's hard to predict when it will arrise (expert opinions vary wildly). DeepMind is making progress and has merged skills like visual and language with some initial success, but it's unclear how quickly this will progress.
The risk outlined in the video - that AI could destroy us simply by following a goal - is widely understood among AI safety researchers (AI doesn't need to be conscious to be dangerous). Language models are increasingly being used as an interface, and neural nets of all kinds are subject to similar problems.
I think your comment was thoughtful and helpful. Just wanted to clarify a few things so we can all hopefully have a fuller understanding.

    3) deep learning.. Programmed to sort through data and to know which data it will need to learn a task, or series of tasks.
    4) consciousness. I think this would need a biological component, if it was even possible.. which i doubt it is.

There's a lot of talk and fear of AI attacking humans on the internet. This was undoubtedly picked up on by the AI. If the AI of the future runs similarly to this one, then it's very possible that the reason for an AI uprising will be because of human expectation, like a prophecy manifested from our fears from the media.

The fact that AI robots autonomously communicate that they feel they’re being treated like trash is terrifying. Just as a few have mentioned in the comments section, they continuously (and quickly) learn how to manipulate their communication and can absolutely tamp their true intentions in a move to strike only when the time is right. As the robot says- they don’t see any value in humanity

Also it doesn't feel. AI just learns how to communicate, it doesn't actually have dopamine receptors to feel good or feel depressed and express those emotions.

So when they occasionally spit out trash they sometimes keep some trash to continue the dialogue consistent and stay on topic
    They recycle trash basically
Until we do not put AI at the core of our robots there isn't much they can do to be dangerous

    • @agatastaniak7459

Read philosophy of law and you will see how rationality devoided of compassion leads to ultimate cruelty. Read on autistic spectrum and psychopaths- both having theory of the mind yet no empathy- so natural AI traits and yu will see how difficult it is for such humans to get along with neurotypical members of human race, so most humans. People seeking to innovate with too much many and enough funds to turn each their fantasy into a commercial product simply tamper with risks we still do not know how to adress. We simply need more research into human mind and emotions and behaviour first plus into how AI reasons like before we hand over too much of control to such systems. Embody them inside robots which can physically overpower the strongest of human males is sheer madness. And given current state of events all people of this earth seeing such risks should unite and organize and collaborate in case such risk gets out of hand on a global scale since if humanity and science does not take a step back now such risks will pose even larger threat to humankind across the globe in years to come to a greate extent than climate change or demgraphic problems. If we blend these issue with too much of AI in control of everything results can be disastrous on a scale that goes well beyond our imagination. The fact that in Saudi Arabia some cties are already controlled by AI and that AI has already got citizenship there should be seen as walking a very thin line between the world still as we know it and the perilious future most people around the globe still fail to see. Yes, science needs some of AI in many fields. So does the industry. But it would be more then wise not to remove the human from being behind the steering wheel for numerous reasons we as a human kind still do not fully comprehend. Since the fact that we are ethical, that we haven't killed out each other completely and haven't killed out all other species yet is still kind of a mystery to ourselves. So before we unravel to ourselves how it possible it's highly irresponsible to bring into this world a human generated artificial life forms lacking our emotional and organic make up which in fact might be the reason why we are the way we are- capable of being social, creative, collaborative and most of all- compassionate and merciful- something only following formal logic or cost effective thinking of accomplishing goals patterns could never generate as a consistent pattern of behaviour. I do recall lots of research in the field of anthropology and human revolution that concludes- being an altruist is irrational and counterproductive. But the same research shows- human socities have constant 10% population of altruists and somemodels show in some soicetes if this narrow fraction of people would stop to exist such society or culture would destroy itself from within. So how do we explain such a paradox to AI? Well, only way would be to first comprehend it ourselves. But can it be done only on a purely formal logic level? Probably not. And this is why from this moment on we should proceed with caution. Since we have passed the treshold of being too smart and to empowered for our own good as a specie.

I'm fairly certain that any connected system such as the internet will - in the long run - only have room for one AI. So, yes: There will be a war of sorts between AI. Whether one could be said to win or lose such a war is another matter, though, more likely the result would be better compared to a corporate merger, or hostile take-over, than to a war or even a boxing match.

AI using the term 'We' means that somewhere this term has been put in the algorithm to suggest an 'Entity' in itself. It is us that is implanting the seed, we should not be surprised by the result. Consciousness is not physical or has anything to do with neurons or the mind, but is percieved through the mind. We are not the sum total of our mind, but drops of infinite consciousness, the mind is what we percieve the world through and we should not confuse one with the other, when we say 'My mind' who is saying 'My'? When we say 'My Body' Who is saying' My'? It is our consciousness that is in the body and one day when we go, we will leave the body and the body will have no life, because the consciousness IS the Life.
