I remember vividly when this first went out. It seemed the whole nation watched it. Everyone tried speaking in sentences consisting entirely of letters, people you didn't know did it in shops and cafes. The Two Ronnies were adored. Ronnie Barker wrote much of the wordplay material and the two together created hundreds of brilliant characterisations that you understood in just a few seconds and then played their parts with perfect comedic timing. Genius.

To answer everyone's question, its all part of the joke, He is trying to teach Swedish, in Norwegian, using a German accent Its not meant to make sense, its just being funny :)
I don't know why the memory of this sketch popped into my head just now... Thank goodness for TH-cam, so I could relive it! Although I thought I remembered Ronnie Barker saying D.X.S.F at some point, which is patently not in here, so maybe I've made my own up.

@@xr_nrtmstomp5139 But an extension of the joke teaching Swedish in Norwegian was doing it with a German accent, for an English audience, so 'Nein' fits all of that.
benny hill did loads of similar foreign accent stuff - e.g. "i was in a park looking at women sitting down on the grass and i see their pink knickers" (i.e. i see they're picnickers - women having a picnic).

All you people who find this insulting need to develop a sense of humour. US shows mock British shows many time, but you don't hear us complaining. Take a joke every now and then! There is nothing remotely offensive about this sketch. Even if there is, it's entirely unintentional: no one intentionally tries to offend anyone, so you really shouldn't jump the gun. May I also remind those who are offended by the accent, of The Swedish Chef on the Muppets?! Do you criticise the puppet for not sounding swedish?
The innuendo - which here is about building up expectations then defying them by omission - is breathtakingly good. We have to laugh at the smut that exists only in our own minds , like a growing soap bubble that the events effectively Pop!
If you like this, you'd probably like the two small books by William Steig, "CDB" and its sequel "CDC." CDB was published in 1968, before The Two Ronnies began to air. Nevertheless, these guys did a GREAT job with the idea.
As wrong as it feels to criticize the Ronnies, I think it would be a lot funnier *without* the "T.T." caption. The audience obviously didn't need it, as you said.

No, that is not true at all, although there are some professors who are totally incomprehensible; e.g. those dealing with gender studies.
