I loved playing this back in the day. If you had a PS2 and a PC on the same LAN, you could play cross-platform multiplayer.

there was an edit program, I think it was called iripper, you could alter the files and have any car on ny track, we used to race the f1000's on every surface online. great fun.

Man I remember picking this title up and going home to pop it in. I was blown away with what they were able to accomplish on the PS2 with this game. Yeah, I saw some obvious compromises like how the AI was handled at various distances from the player, but it was still impressive with the amount of content they were able to squeeze into this title for the time period, a lesson a lot of developers/publishers from today need to learn from.
We need ToCA Race Driver 4 (Or a Grid game like this).

i heard a rumor that some of the guys that designed Toca games worked on the first project cars. it really does feel like the unofficial successor of Toca.All it is missing is more classic race cars and rally.

We need ToCA Race Driver 4 not 1000000000 ferraris and lamborghinis since the beginning. Kids these days have become too lazy, they want everything unlocked so thats what devs give them.

Brilliant game, possibly the best racing game of all time, variety, fun, had it all. The last of these that Codemasters made was Dirt 3, since then they've released titles with limited circuit choice, car choice and no story. All we would like is a game that caters for all aspects of Motorsport

Toca series at its top in Toca 3, car handeling was amazing with a ffb wheel ,and those wildcats,DTM and F1 cars where the perfect simulator rides back then

TheCraziestGamer GRID is not the same thing at all, its an arcade racer and its missing way too many options to be compared to TOCA ..i dont know if you ever played TOCA race driver 3, but its a totally different beast, it was an amazing franchise, one of the very best in racing! Just the DTM races alone were worth it, there was so many things to do in this game, it was a much much better game than gran turismo imo, i still wish that they will revive this franchise someday

I loved this game, it was one of the games I traded with friends as a kid and it still holds up gameplay wise. I spent countless hours unlocking all the beautiful cars in this game.

Interestingly, one of the first racing games I got into was literally the Nintendo DS version of this (branded as Race Driver: Create And Race). For a DS game, it was FANTASTIC and contained most of the content of this. Finally got the PS2 version recently and it's absolutely excellent.

Ah my childhood game, really enjoyed driving the nsx in this game.
I want another TOCA game. Especially if they can A: Get the DTM license B: Get the license of forza and do something about it C: Get BTCC and have all 32 cars and D: Get a new license like NASCAR or Super GT =)

First game I used to love playing online till silly hours in the morning and was the first time I used a microphone to speak to others, god I miss it so much.

The "new" DTM (2000 onwards) is called Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters.
Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft was the old DTM that was canceled in the 90s.

I remember back in 2006 when this game came out i couldn't decide to pick up this one or get Heroes of the Pacific. So glad i picked up Heroes instead (excellent game btw). The Toca series always had a weird vibe; i played Pro race driver earlier and it felt off-ish compared to other racers i played at the time (GT series mostly).

I still love this game. Forza 7 is collecting dust while I play this because I just keep going back to the Pro Career mode in the touring car discipline.
Just bought the game and I love it ! going retro with my PS2 ( I own PS4 - PS3 - xbox360 ). the car handling better than many 360 - PS3 titles even PS4 !! many people who complain about this game , forgot the settings - yes it exists and can set the way u want to play it . wish could play it in HD

I like to imagine a parallel reality in wich this game is sold in South America as "Stock Car Race Driver 3". This dream would come true in 2014, but that's for another video i suppose

Man, I really want a new game like this. I know the GRID series is going, and also have a few different styles of racing. But this game has so much stuff to do, F1, Touring Cars, Retro Muscle, Nascar (or an unlicenced variant afaik), you could even race Go Karts and Lawnmowers.
I am not huge fan of racing games, so true realistic gameplay don't bother me too much. I just want to have fun. Considering this TOCA RD 3 is the best racing game i've ever played, and I still coming back to that game, mostly because HUUUGE variety, this game has evrything, from rallys on dirt or gokarts, to super cars, monster trucks or even formula 1. And I love fact that in every race I can play qualifing to get good starting position.

omg this game is amazing, so much variety. Gotta say the dirt oval stuff is kinda wack, sprint cars don't shift lol.

The Australian versions were always modded after the V8 Supercars. And they will never be the same again with the downfall of Holden.
I'm not sure if I want to try this game when even Kuru says it's really hard
The penalty system in this game was a nightmare and pro career mode was just plain work if you wanted to complete it (even with 1 lap races). The career mode was fun but lacked story unlike it's predecessors.
Online racing was great though and in terms of racing and variety this game kicked ass!
I still have my copy. Wouldn't dare install it in windows 10 though. The copy protection is known to destroy anything that's not XP

What FoV \ field of view angle is used by ToCA3 NTSC-U ( and ToCA2 if known) in both 4 : 3 and widescreen viewing modes? - Not sure about PS2's ToCA2 but ToCA3 NTSC-U has widescreen output capability. Is the same FoV angle used across all platforms?

No, there shouldn‘t be any new cutscenes depending on how you went. Look in the introduction race at the laps, it says 3/3. So Rick was obviously meaning how you took that corner BEFORE you took control. And certainly, if you drove like a maniac, Rick wouldn‘t be too impressed even if you came 1st.
Not a big fan of penalties during a race, would always get pissed off when it happened during the Special Condition Events in Gran Turismo 4. That being said, this game actually does look like something I would enjoy, and will be picking it up sometime soon.

Keaton Bowler probably had a physical copy which he would of had to play on windows 7 or xp because with windows 10 it crashes and bricks a file in windows 32 folder, trust me its happened about three times now trying to get it working

I missed the consitent story line form the first two games. Even they are cringe and not really necessary.
TOCA 3 is the best games out of the three, but the story lines from the first one´s where are a nice little toch. And to be honest they are less cringe then todays storys in racing games.
I could never get f1 car , could not figure out why, had 98% of game complete

Idk if anyone will see this but be VERY careful if you want to install this on a modern PC, this game came with Starforce DRM which can fuck your computer up even if you think you've done everything right, and even if you use a legit CD. Your safest bet is to play on a console or emulator or not at all :(
And i thought putting SecuROM on DiRT 2 was the worst thing Codemasters have done...holy shit. I've done a search here and saw both TOCA 2,3 and CMR 2005 have Starforce DRM,but i have them installed on my PC now and nothing happened,guess the cracked version doesn't have problems maybe?

This game does not look like fun at all to me lol. I'm big on customization though, and it doesn't even look like there's a money system to buy and sell cars and parts, which is definitely a deal breaker for me.
