bridge fort is the worst for sure my survivors barely shoot anything up there and im lucky if one comes down during a raid and my vehicles keep getting fucked from juggernauts. a really bad place if you dont like zombies spawing directly outside of your door when you are doing repairs on your vehicles too
Here's an idea, why not make these vids, ignoring map placement at all? Sure, center is fast and all, but it's FAST and all. Off-center is not so fast, but gives a tiny bit longevity. What should be ACTUALLY kept in account, is the bases options. Number of small indoor slots, small outdoors slots, big in tree nestled slo... no wait, skip that one. But you get me. A base should not be about it's location, but it's practical and tactical use. Some bases, handily, have, for instance, hardly a Zed Spawn. Tactically nigh perfect, as you tend to not die that fast than to one spawn is virtually in your base. Or 6 spawns around your base. Logic. It would be, for instance, preferable to have a smaller, but much safer base. More work, surely, I agree there, but a lot less threat. In the end: what is a crap base worth, dead center the map...?
Container Fort is easily a gamebreaking base after the buffs to outposts. Its landmark outpost next to it gives the staging area effect, and with how you only need 3 food outposts now to feed 8-9 survivors with food scaling and upgrades on lethal with an additional 1 outpost or garden to cover all med consumption, Container Fort becomes insane with how it truly is "What two large slots do you want? Have them. What 5-6 small facilities do you want and 1-2 outposts do you want? Have them" Hell; if you get 8 to get the fort and then exile 2 (it is a small enough fort where 3-6 can easily defend it), then even on a fresh nightmare run you can do 2 food outposts, 1 power, 1 water, 1 fuel, and landmark for staging area outpost, then 1 meds garden, and now you get net meds and fuel gain with no food loss, water, power, and your base has the power of 4 large slots with 5 small slots to mess around with freely. I feel like the reason why Cascade Hills got the Landmark Outpost that acts as a staging area is to overall give every base on the map the effects of +1 Large Slot to make up for how put off a lot of the players are by having little to no large slots
I love the Corner Office on this map. As you mentioned, the central location is awesome. Also, if you gather vehicles, like I do, you can block off 2 of the 3 gates, so that when you get hordes coming in, they only have one gate to come in, which makes defense cake. At least until the Juggies come around and throw your cars around...
Funny story, I had 2 army truck upgraded and a jug came and plowed all of them... One was damaged before and after was just destroyed the other ended up glitching out upside down on a hill, I didn't allow my to enter it so I couldn't get it unstuck.... I blew the juggernaut to pieces. He did more damage than it meant to
I was with friends playing on a nightmare zone and that base was under nonstop siege it was awful. It wasn't even an actual "base under threat" quest that was happening, it was just a constant stream of zombies and they didnt stop.
Git Gud: "I prefer bases that are in a more centralized location on the map." Also Git Gud: "This base that is way off in the corner of the map is my favorite."
@@kaedenlivesey1980 But it's quite a drive to the east side. Anyway, I was only teasing him. I've come to prefer the Container Fort as well. I just don't like its location.
That base is also runner up for best base in the game; even though it only has 2 large slots it gives free watchtower effect for no cost or slot consumption, 8 beds with no cost or slot consumption (already the power of 3 large slots) And now after the outpost buff it even has a nextdoor landmark that negates materials upkeep (so easily gets the full power of 4 large slots), it is the most self-sufficient base in the game, meaning that in 1-map (no moving to another map) 100+ day runs it is the most powerful base to hold up in due to hitting no resource loss before the outpost buff, after the outpost buffs it becomes a base where all you get is just freedom whereas most other bases still require investing the slots they give you into other things.
I love the container fort, it gives off that post apocalyptic feel, in fact it gives off a feel that you’ve stopped just surviving and started thriving!
@@GitGudFox Which is fine as long as the info in the video is relevant. 2 min info and 6 min like and subscribe and pointless talking = dislike. Relevant info = Like. :)
Thanks for this, I like Cascade Hills, but the starter base is in an awful location, I kept burning through fuel just to keep supply runs going in the early game.
Ouch, started on drecker county, got the mall, all the upgrades and as many good weapons as I could find just got bored of it. Moving on to Cascade and I’ve only just got the starting base semi-stable, this was extremely helpful for figuring out where to move next.
I'm only just getting into this game after buying the Juggernaut edition. Loving the game so far, and have to say that your video's have been a brilliant help! Subbed and 👍 !
There is a glitch that can cost you the 8 bed bonus. the 1 indoor small slot ( comes with the workshop already ) if you remove that , and log out, the 8 bed bonus can disappear . I sent them a ticket when it happened to me the first time and they said they would look into it. I had it happen to me a few times. I don't know if it has been fixed because when i move the workshop i always make sure that i have a facility in the indoor slot and since then i haven't lost it. The one thing i see all of these base comparison vids miss about the container fort is the Castle Doctrine buff. You literally get free guard towers that don't cost Ammo. 4 guards @ no ammo as well as noise reduction. .. no other base gives you that.
I used the courner office til I had looted the neighbourhood out and recruited 8 people. then shifted to the fort. I watched your vid series and cultivated allies on that side of the map as well. it probably isnt very nice, but if you see a new community that is too far away to bother with, recruit from them to break the group up, then exile the recruit.
Depending on the map, I'll threaten and kill them to clear them out, but sometimes it's a rare community like a food call-in community that I am hesitant to remove.
Container fort, then corner office. I like the feel and defense if corner office. I park a spare vehicle in front of the entry points, and leave the one near the parking spots as my only entrance. Choked all zombie attackers to that point.
The extra storage space is really convenient... just be ready to pack it all up if you wind up moving. When you move bases, only your materials are protected from overflow.
I am holding up at the Bridge Fort, deciding to move someplace else. Im planning to either move into either Corner Office or Self Storage. Guessing Corner Office is best.
I have a tip for any player dealing with a juggernaut, 1st: get him alone. 2nd: Swap to your close combat weapon (knife) 3rd: Follow this mind set, he takes 4 staggers to take down, on the 4th stagger he can be executed, now for fighting him, you need to watched his attacks and dodge, his attacks are usually telegraphed enough to do that, it you can take a small break for stamina a couple of times and watch his attacks, he can be easily taken down which. This tactic is to mainly preserve weapon durability for you melee weapon and other items.
Does that mean I’m the only person that just uses full auto on the B50FG to kill them Or if you want it done fast an entire clip from the red talons storm bringer
Im glad people take this game seriously. It's always gonna have a place in my heart. And its bases are pretty great, wish there were more freaks though.
First and foremost thank you for all the videos that you do they're very helpful and insightful. I would like to know why the trader will not bring the Red Talon fifth skill books. I have waited for months any suggestions?
Some of the traders only appear on the weekends (in real life). I believe the rare skills book traders are weekend traders. They can still be pretty rare, though.
@@oddcreature7629 So I double checked the patch notes, and it's a it unclear with the rare skills trader. (Patch 2.0) "A new “Rare Books” trader can appear every few game days, with the following new skill books available for the low low price of 1500 Influence: Driving, Lichenology, Fishing, Scrum Master." (Patch 3.0) "the mission that creates the trader who supplies skill books is now called “Skills Trader” (to more clearly communicate its different nature). Also, this mission can now occur during the week (and not just on weekends). " (Patch 5.0) "For a chance to trade for one of these rare books, track down the next Mysterious Wandering Trader you see on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday." The books the patch 5.0 is talking about are the respec manuals, but I think I've seen him sell rare skills books, too.
Thank you for your help in researching this issue I'm not going to buy any more Red Talon because I can't get their 5th skill activated without the books if you have any pull with Undead Labs maybe you could send them a suggestion thanks a million looking for your next video
@@oddcreature7629 I'm afraid not. My channel is much too small to have an influence on Undead Labs. I can still tweet them that the skill books traders seem too uncommon.
Container Fort is super good. Corner Office is good in Standard Zone, but I'd be careful in Nightmare Zone. Indoor bases have problems in Nightmare Zone.
Most of my playthrough on this map, i have the corner office as my end base. I did the fort once, m&m once(on my very first community) but never in the self storage.
Im about to move from the corner office to lock and keah man the issue with the corner office is that there seems like there's zombies everywhere, if you like to pounce through doors in a hurry then it's a pain there's zombies everywhere
The office is located right in the middle of town. The best way to deal with zombies populating the area is to not be home very often. The game doesn't simulate combat when you aren't there, and the game prefers to spawn enemies in at and near your location.
I try to bump up the quality every month or so. It took me a moment to figure out how to efficiently create the "pop-in" effects for the arrows and labels without manually doing it over and over again. The video also had many errors as a result of my lack of familiarity, but watching the video and ironing out all the bugs resulted in something I'm happy with.
bridge fort is actually really good early base. i always set up 2 ammo outposts and 1 fuel outpost ( 2 ammo so i dont have to worry about replacing ammo after a while ) fuel i have so i can slowly stock up on it for when i get power and water. after changing to office corner i remove 1 ammo outpost and use the empty spot for a water outpost. :D no problems so far in nightmare. still cant wait to go to container fort though xD well. i spoke to soon. the moment i made corner office my base 2 hordes of juggernauts with a group a blood plague zeds followed up. lost 4 so far damnit xD
I live at Mohr & Mohr I'm doing great but it is limited to what you can do. You have to have defenses I. Blocked off all gates with old cars and they never get moved. I struggle with food.
@@GitGudFox I had one but i dismissed her when i fell off a cell tower and when i was running around (i caught up to her because of her injuries)it loaded her in and she was getting ripped in half from a juggernaut
@@GitGudFox I saw your storage container fort video. I never moved there because I never knew the 8 beds that were there. Thank you for so much help. I am going to move there when I get off of work!
I noticed that Mohr and Mohr distribution is IDENTICAL to Mike's concrete on the plateau region when it comes to building slots and built-in facilities.
@@GitGudFox yea don't worry, I agree with the distance rating, I also prefer bases closer to the center of the map and with some kind of civilization around them instead of in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for the reviews btw, I didn't play the Cascade Hills yet and currently going through Drucker County where I went straight from the starter house to Mike's concrete and will be moving to the mall strip tomorrow (used your review to see the base layout). Also thanks to your vid I know that I'll go for the office block before going to the container fort, container fort looks like an amazing place to setup shop.
In Nightmare Zone, the remote location could be a benefit. You'd think the zombie density would be lower in the woods but who knows? The office can be a little glitchy, but I still like that base quite a bit.
@@GitGudFox I like the idea of the bridge fort but also heard that was glitchy. Also I don't think the location makes much difference to zed population, it seems to be tied to population, noise, infestations and how many hearts you've destroyed as far as I can tell. I added your nightmare episode 1 to my to-watch list cause I'm curious about the higher difficulty.
Another great video to start off the new year! I agree with your rankings 100%. I love battling from the Corner Office before obtaining the Container Fort. I have noticed that you don't use the "Staging Area" in any of you videos. Is there a reason you don't go for that facility.
I have thought about using it from time-to-time. It might see use in a base with 3 large facilities, but the first 2 are reserved for the Trade Depot and the Farm. I could drop the Farm for another hydroponics facility, but I go through food pretty fast, and I don't always have the small facility available for a 2nd hydroponics.
@@GitGudFox Point taken. I didn't start playing this game until mid November. That said, the first play through was purely for fun and edification (starter tutorial characters on a random map). Then I finished the builder and trader playthroughs for obvious reasons. I am now almost finished with the sheriff playthrough and have had a blast. The "Staging Area" option does not really come into play until the third large slot is available. If I had already finished all the playthroughs then playing as a trader with a lounge and trading outpost would be my first go to as well. For me farming materials is a must so I now always have someone with the recycling skill and eventually end up with a staging area in the mix. Keep up the good work.
If you get a squad of 10 survivors armed with automatic rifles, you can pretty much just sit in the container fort during a siege and do nothing. Your team will wipe them all out easily at the two choke points. Also, an exploit I found: if you have an incoming siege while you are away, go to an outpost and change characters. The siege will instantly start, without you being there. After a moment, you'll be in the "Clear Out Remaining Zombies" stage until you get home (take as long as you want), and the siege concludes the minute you walk into the base. You get the Influence reward without risking a thing, plus you wont lose the 3 ammo for neglecting a siege. This works no matter how big the incoming siege is -- it'll be over when you get home without anyone getting a scratch. It's a handy little exploit if you're sick of doing siege defenses or dont wanna trudge all the way back.
I'm doing a re-run from the beginning and I settled at the Justineau house, with the help of the builder legacy boon and the network signal booster I'm able to get surplus for all resources and use the house with a 6 member community.
I know this is a while since you posted this video but I have not played state of decay in a while and I got into it again I never have picked cascade Hills I am at church on the hill should I move into the corner office or the fort?
after playing this map multiple times. altough Corner office is at a nice location. the roof doesnt cover as great as i thought. had happen multiple times now where they let 2 jugs into the base since the somehow dont cover the right street. but have clear vision on it :/
Maybe, but it'd be kind of a loose tribute if it was the case. It doesn't seem to have any really direct references to the Church of Ascension. I think it's realistic that it's just a church.
i'd have to personally argue the bridge fort to be lower, hostiles getting stuck under the bridge derping out the AI and staying there even during base assaults meaning you have to clear out a hoard or two or fail the base defenses and the slightly better location of the church makes the church a much better option
I've been chewing on some ideas for a beginner's guide. If I were to pick singularly important tip though it'd be to try every single item multiple times until you've tried every single item in the game. This game is all about "tool box solutions." Every problem in the game can be resolved with the right tools, but if you aren't constantly exploring the tools, you could have no idea that you've had the solution to your problems all along.
Great ranking of both Meagher valley and Drucker County. However, on Cascade Hills i do disagree. I would rank the bridge as the worst of all bases in the game. And thats simply because i find it as an death trap if i only have 4-5 community members. The watchtower takes up 4 people who will stay on upper floor. So during a siege, you will find yourself stucked alone while those at the watchtower will fail to do anything, as the floor will prevent them from shooting any zombies in the base. And as the base have entrance on both side, you will notice that you get surrounded by zombies quickly in a way you wouldnt in any other bases. Even if theres no siege, you will have problem with zombies coming inside the base, as it looks like they use it as a road getting over to the other side. And if thats not enough, the stairs down to first floors is not fixed, making you fall down and injure you all the time if you are not careful. There is also some watchtower problems on other bases. For example watchtower at the church is so high up that the community members on guard will usually not shoot at any zombies getting close to base while L&K have some stair problem to the watchtower, but only for the community members, while you are ok. Watchtower on corner office is ok, tough.
I find that this doesn't matter on Standard Zone, but I would rate this base a lot lower on Nightmare Zone. The game is so easy that the defensive state of a base often does not matter unless you're causing a full scale siege, and that would be hard to do with the smaller community this base is intended for.
@@GitGudFox, You are right. The siege are rarelly any big deal even in nightmare. Unless you have a horde close who gets drawn in from the noise of the siege. So i guess i just been unlucky as i always have a horde with juggernaut and feral walking around on the east side. It is possible to make a blockade on the east entrance. However, if you try place a car in front of the entrance, the game will eventually remove the car and place it on the parking spot. Personally, i like the corner office before the church. You are right, they are pretty much the same. But the church is harder to access. More driving getting up there with brick walls and entrance to base who doesnt fit entrance to the building. While on corner office you can stop your car right on the street and walk right in. Corner office is also more compact with short running distance from one side to the other. Even so, all 3 bases have the huge advantage in nightmare, as they are central. Fuel is one thing, but reduced risk of damaging your car due to lower travel distance can be essential. Thats why i love the nightmare. Things i never cared about is now important to take in consideration.
Every base with a steep firing position for NPCs sees to just be bad. The NPCs aren't very good at shooting downwards. The Church on the Hill was extremely bad for this. I don't think I ever had the bell tower guards ever contribute to a fight.
Looks like it's moving time... I'm in the M&M auto shop for the 2 large slots and fully upgraded workshop... Look like I'm going to a different base tho
@@GitGudFox all my current allies and unlooted locations are on the top left of the map but I didn't want to move to that base (forgot the name) so I'm thinking i should move to the container fort I saw it awhile ago... I got to grind up the influence and materials to fully upgrade the workshop (I'm a terrible driver so I can build repair kits for the cars)
In terms of terrain, yes. In terms of base quality, it's a bit strange. It has really below average base quality... but it also has the Container Fort which has an argument to being the best base in the game with really only 2 other bases competing, Whitney Field and Squelones' Brewery.
@@GitGudFox just asking because i started playing this game for about a week now and my first community in the valley has been doing really hard because the people don't seem to mix well and the zeds just seem to tear through health like crazy where as i started a new one in cascade and I've found people that just boost off one another on modifiers while the zombies seem more manageable. I'm guessing each playthrough is widely different (especially in my case)
@@GitGudFox ah, then I'm just really lucky to have a better community overall in my second save because everything just feels more easier. Either way you just got a new subscriber because your vids so far are extremely helpful
Hey Hun!!! Can you tell me If you saw this before? Im sure you may have seen alot already 😋 not a major problem i kinda like it . I'm in Cascade Hills and Ive exhausted the map from the looting and still do small looting runs, help some enclaves I don't want to do the legacy part because i want to keep my group together when i try to move to out of this town to a new place, just like on the "The Walking Dead Movie". I like to keep our group together. Ive killed all the blood hearts, but i was out scavenging to pick up a rucksack and i saw a few times some blood plague zombies.... Ive already asked the network to find any blood hearts and they tell me Ive killed all of the blood hearts. Where are these plague heart zombies coming from, is this normal are they drifting from the other towns to the town I'm in ? I love zombie games and movies but I'm a noob to playing these next gen games. I'm enjoying them though great graphics. So fox what can ya tell me 👩🏻💖💖😄 Thank you!!!!!
I've heard other people have the same issue. I think it will go away if you reload the game. I know blood plague juggernauts do not go away even after clearing the hearts. It could also be a bug, and they're supposed to go away but aren't.
Bridge fort was my first when I moved there from my first map. Then I tried so hard to get down to the container fort, although ironically there was already a group of survivor's there, and I couldn't recruit them cuz turns out... they wanted to eat me... lol. But eventually I finally got it and all the fuel, food, water, construction, ammo outposts around it. Only thing I hate about it that was almost a deal breaker, was the fact that I absolutely hate the layout of it, and I was often confused during my first couple days. But definitely worth it in the long run, absolutely amazing base. Btw hello 3 years later lol
The container fort would be perfect if there was an actual building given you the beds so you can make some white noise in there. All my other bases (especially the huge ones) have much much better morale.
Glad they were helpful. I'm working on 2 videos right now, one for SoD2 and the other for the new series. Both are taking more research than normal which is slowing me down.
Nice to hear did you ever think of State Of Decay 1 for your channel as something else you would like to play / cover? :) While you wait for the new update
My base is the fort because It is pretty good to stay safe and if you have the right 12 survivors with the op skills or open 5 slots you can do anything I would choose 1 gardener, 2 doctors - surgery-pathology, automatic engineer construction metalwork, 2 computers programming electric, bomb-making for chemistry making strong painkillers another chemistry skill and and one cooking nutrition skill.
Container fort is my favorite. Just because juggernauts can't get it. You can get high up when they invade. Corner office is best if you're new. Even the bridge fort looks cool (never got) The church sucks asssss. Seiges every few mins. Mohr and Mohr not bad. Key storage base never had Meagher valley I love the baseball field. Even tho it gets busy. 3 large slots. And baracade strip mall is awesome
The Corner Office killed my community. The watchtower is bugged and they don't protect your area. Resulted in 2 hordes hit us, which both had bloaters, and then a Juggernaut came in too. Don't understand why ppl love that space. Sure it's places sweet in the middle, but it's just not worth it.
It depends on the difficulty you play on. On Standard Zone, it's been a fan favorite because the enemies are too weak to really make a difference, so the position strength shines. On Nightmare Zone? I would never live here.
Ya really think taking driving distance into account is necessary? I mean regardless of were your base is you can be anywhere on the map with in 2-3 mins tops the maps are not really big enough to take location/driving distances into account when ranking bases imo.
It makes a difference. Not only does it take more minutes per play session to drive around, but it consumes gasoline as well. You save A LOT of time and gas on a map like Meagher Valley than you do on Drucker County.
It's why products advertise a variety of features. 1 person might not care if a product is organic while another person may. 1 person might care where the product is manufactured in while another person might not. In youtube, 1 person might be really concerned with clear videos in at least 1080p. Another person might want videos that get to the point within seconds of starting. You never know what each person cares about or places value on.
I liked Corner Office, but it was in normal zone, in Nightmare, it's the worst I've ever had, lost too many community people between ones stuck in the stairs and the others attacked by juggs in the Sniper tower... aweful base in Nightmare.
@@GitGudFox yes sir it will. Still amazing vid I picked the dumb middlemof the forst base cause I did not know about box fort This was before wayching any vids of sod2 cause im still somewhat new to it
Container Fort was my all time hated. Yes, it looks great with the benefits but it is a major flaw in Nightmare Difficulty. Characters will literally walk out the doors when under attack from sieges. Or fall off the watchtower. What makes this even worse is there a will go out one at a time. I lost three survivors due to 3 Juggernaut knocking at the door. One Survivor went out the door to fight them by themselves and died. The next Survivor followed suit as well as the third. There was no "team defense". Just solo survivors dying one by one. I tested this Theory out and it continued to happen. I feel that this base with its multiple levels really messes up your base defense. It was the biggest mistake I made moving from Church on the Hill to the container fort. I do like the fact that it gives you extra beds, lots of building space and can be very self-sustainable. But in my honest opinion for nightmare mode this base is a literal death trap. Any other base AI tends to stick together and fight together giving you an overall better defense. This base scatters your survivors and basically will cause certain death. I lost three survivors due to the flaw on my first Siege. I have lost a total of 5 all because of that flaw. I have put many hours into this game and have never seen anything like this at any other base. To the point I never had a single death in any play through until I moved here (have beat nightmare 3 times already). In my honest opinion I would rather the starter base then this death trap.
Git Gud Fox I see his point. When I used it to farm influence they’d always fall off the ramparts when I came back to it. Lost my hydroponic guy, he fell off and died in a siege.
Hard to believe so many are unable to grasp the simple idea that your thoughts on base "quality," is based on your opinion? Wow, what a strange concept. 😄
It's even like schools of thought. In the Mechwarrior/Battletech universe, there's this eternal argument of what's better 1 big cannon or a bunch of small lasers? Both will get the job done, but depending on who your tutor is that you're listening to, you'll be instructed in likely 1 or the other not because 1 if definitively better but because each person making guides and tutorials will likely fall into a certain "school" of thought.
Git Gud Fox basically the generator and the large building spaces, didn’t realize until later that the base was hard for me to defend and I didn’t take into account how far of a drive it was from everything, I moved into the storage container base and it’s so much better for me
@@customkush7103 I think that's one of the best bases in the game. It might even be the best base in the game if what you want is a self sufficient base with all issues of upkeep resolved easily resolved.
Git Gud Fox yeah I’m liking it but I’m having issues keeping up with morale right now due to supplies being low and multiple infestations in the area, I’m new to the game so I’m still figuring everything out

Have them"
Hell; if you get 8 to get the fort and then exile 2 (it is a small enough fort where 3-6 can easily defend it), then even on a fresh nightmare run you can do 2 food outposts, 1 power, 1 water, 1 fuel, and landmark for staging area outpost, then 1 meds garden, and now you get net meds and fuel gain with no food loss, water, power, and your base has the power of 4 large slots with 5 small slots to mess around with freely.
Thought I was the only one who does that, lol.
You got that right until the jugs come... :) roflol

Git Gud: "I prefer bases that are in a more centralized location on the map."
Also Git Gud: "This base that is way off in the corner of the map is my favorite."
It's because of the hierarchy of values. The mass customization options of the Container Fort overpower its off centered location.
Dude it's not that far from the middle town, it's on the same road and you can cut through the grass it's not that bad
@@kaedenlivesey1980 But it's quite a drive to the east side. Anyway, I was only teasing him. I've come to prefer the Container Fort as well. I just don't like its location.

That base is also runner up for best base in the game; even though it only has 2 large slots it gives free watchtower effect for no cost or slot consumption, 8 beds with no cost or slot consumption (already the power of 3 large slots)
And now after the outpost buff it even has a nextdoor landmark that negates materials upkeep (so easily gets the full power of 4 large slots), it is the most self-sufficient base in the game, meaning that in 1-map (no moving to another map) 100+ day runs it is the most powerful base to hold up in due to hitting no resource loss before the outpost buff, after the outpost buffs it becomes a base where all you get is just freedom whereas most other bases still require investing the slots they give you into other things.
I love the container fort, it gives off that post apocalyptic feel, in fact it gives off a feel that you’ve stopped just surviving and started thriving!
I don’t know anything about these maps. Just got the game this week and your feedback has been a huge help even in 2022. CHEERS
The corner office is one of my favorite bases in the game.
It's a bit hazardous on Nightmare Zone, but it's really good in Standard Zone.
Yes
Ya same
Just the fact that you try to keep the video short, is already a win in my book. Nice and informative video aswell!
It varies. Some videos wind up requiring more information like my Echo Weapons video. Others can be covered briskly.
The Container Fort is my favorite on this map without a doubt.
Git Gud Fox, yep 👍
I'm only just getting into this game after buying the Juggernaut edition. Loving the game so far, and have to say that your video's have been a brilliant help!
Subbed and 👍 !
Really enjoyed the videos about bases! I think I will go back and replay SOD again 🤘
There will be a whole new map towards the end of the year.
@@GitGudFox awesome! Can't wait to see some more awesome videos about them from you. Thanks
Ya know; rating every base in the game in one massive list would be a great ending point for your exploration of this game
Does that container fort really come with 8 beds?? I've been using luxury beds for my large slot for this entire time.
😂😂😂💀💀💀💀
This was very helpful, being a new player. Thank you!
Perfect. Agree 100%with your rating!
Did you have a favorite in this region? If it's the Container Fort, do you have a runner up?
Container fort, then corner office. I like the feel and defense if corner office. I park a spare vehicle in front of the entry points, and leave the one near the parking spots as my only entrance. Choked all zombie attackers to that point.
Great list. I'm currently in the corner office . Getting ready to move to Loch & Keogh.
The extra storage space is really convenient... just be ready to pack it all up if you wind up moving. When you move bases, only your materials are protected from overflow.
@@GitGudFox Sadly, I learned the hard way the first time around. lol
Another note on the container fort is that it also has castle doctrine which gives 4 armed guards at no cost.
In its individual review, I mention it.
I am holding up at the Bridge Fort, deciding to move someplace else. Im planning to either move into either Corner Office or Self Storage. Guessing Corner Office is best.
Depends on the difficulty, the Corner Office is not as safe on higher difficulties.
I have a tip for any player dealing with a juggernaut,
1st: get him alone.
2nd: Swap to your close combat weapon (knife)
3rd: Follow this mind set, he takes 4 staggers to take down, on the 4th stagger he can be executed, now for fighting him, you need to watched his attacks and dodge, his attacks are usually telegraphed enough to do that, it you can take a small break for stamina a couple of times and watch his attacks, he can be easily taken down which.
This tactic is to mainly preserve weapon durability for you melee weapon and other items.
That will definitely kill a jug. You can also use his reckless attack to kill his fellow zombes if you wind up fighting them in a group.
Does that mean I’m the only person that just uses full auto on the B50FG to kill them
Or if you want it done fast an entire clip from the red talons storm bringer
What is the buttons on Xbox to execute a Jug?
Fork Knife Captain gotta wait tell they are down then you press RT and X
Next time ask google

Good Video, Well Explained On The Basics, Make Another Now Talking About Meagher Valley Bases
That's actually the next region I was planning to do. Drucker County will be last. It won't necessarily be literally the next video I make though.
Im glad people take this game seriously. It's always gonna have a place in my heart. And its bases are pretty great, wish there were more freaks though.
Yeah, I make a video every other day typically.
Its people like you that drive me crazy, i cant stop finding freaks
Edit: i HATE freaks
First and foremost thank you for all the videos that you do they're very helpful and insightful. I would like to know why the trader will not bring the Red Talon fifth skill books. I have waited for months any suggestions?
Some of the traders only appear on the weekends (in real life). I believe the rare skills book traders are weekend traders. They can still be pretty rare, though.
Wow I didn't know that thank you I appreciate you responding great Channel keep up the good work
@@oddcreature7629 So I double checked the patch notes, and it's a it unclear with the rare skills trader.
(Patch 2.0) "A new “Rare Books” trader can appear every few game days, with the following new skill books available for the low low price of 1500 Influence: Driving, Lichenology, Fishing, Scrum Master."
(Patch 3.0) "the mission that creates the trader who supplies skill books is now called “Skills Trader” (to more clearly communicate its different nature). Also, this mission can now occur during the week (and not just on weekends).
"
(Patch 5.0) "For a chance to trade for one of these rare books, track down the next Mysterious Wandering Trader you see on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday."
The books the patch 5.0 is talking about are the respec manuals, but I think I've seen him sell rare skills books, too.
I've had the Container Fort for a while now but its in a bad spot for me. But cant decide if I should stay there or move to the Corner Office.
On Nightmare Zone, I'm not as big a fan of the Corner Office. It's tough to defend it.
Can we also mention that the Container Fort has a power outpost right next to it?!
Most people use the Builder Legacy which removes the need for power.
Git Gud Fox Oh cool. I’m still a newbie and never knew this. My leader is a Sheriff, so I hadn’t known this.
Container fort= cool and a base made for defending itsleft but its far from everything so gas is a must
That's one of my favorite bases.
Git Gud Fox mine too
Been watching your vids for a little while and I gotta say you do deserve more subscribers keep up with the good job and quality videos
I try to bump up the quality every month or so. It took me a moment to figure out how to efficiently create the "pop-in" effects for the arrows and labels without manually doing it over and over again. The video also had many errors as a result of my lack of familiarity, but watching the video and ironing out all the bugs resulted in something I'm happy with.
nice list, big fan of bridge fort
I'm not sure how good it is on Nightmare Zone, though. Lines of sight are important in Nightmare Zone.
I like loch an keogh its looks nice just suffers from having only 1 large slot
That seems to be Cascade Hills' theme. Most of the bases only have 1 large slot.
If you note, even CF have one less large slot than the other largest bases
bridge fort is actually really good early base. i always set up 2 ammo outposts and 1 fuel outpost ( 2 ammo so i dont have to worry about replacing ammo after a while ) fuel i have so i can slowly stock up on it for when i get power and water. after changing to office corner i remove 1 ammo outpost and use the empty spot for a water outpost.
Sounds like you need someone with knowledge of agriculture to grow a ton of food.
I'd say it's the best every day base since it is the most self-sustainable.
You know it’s very easy to revive dead survivers.
I noticed that Mohr and Mohr distribution is IDENTICAL to Mike's concrete on the plateau region when it comes to building slots and built-in facilities.
They pretty much are. The difference in rating comes from their map positions and the relative quality of the other bases inhabiting the region.
At 7:10 you introduce the container fort but the written description calls it the corner office
good eye
Number 4 is my favorite base despite being far from town if you have plenty of gas and 2 vans you can make regular stops for supplies.
Have you done one of these with Providence County? I would love to see that.
I'm doing a re-run from the beginning and I settled at the Justineau house, with the help of the builder legacy boon and the network signal booster I'm able to get surplus for all resources and use the house with a 6 member community.
Very good, sounds like you're going to have a solid foundation to work with. The starting base Justineau House is a solid starting home too.
Awesome! Just upgraded from the bridge fort to the corner office!
Corner Office pretty popular. I rarely hear bad things about it.
Thanks for the good content.
Hey, I'm glad it was helpful. Are there any subjects in SoD2 you want to know more about? I'm looking for more ideas.
The container fort is near an unique outpost which counters all materials used instead of using 5 material outposts
Those didn't exist when this video was made.
@@GitGudFox ahhh alright then
I know this is a while since you posted this video but I have not played state of decay in a while and I got into it again I never have picked cascade Hills I am at church on the hill should I move into the corner office or the fort?
after playing this map multiple times. altough Corner office is at a nice location. the roof doesnt cover as great as i thought. had happen multiple times now where they let 2 jugs into the base since the somehow dont cover the right street. but have clear vision on it :/
I thought the container fort has a built in workshop. Well mine always does anyway. ???
It does. I removed it in this video.
The Church on the hill is a tribute to the church of ascension from sod1 i think
Maybe, but it'd be kind of a loose tribute if it was the case. It doesn't seem to have any really direct references to the Church of Ascension.
I think it's realistic that it's just a church.
Container fort or Corner store for final base?
Container Fort for a forever base.
I went from starter base to the corner office. Was worth it.
Weird, when I took the fort it came with a prebuilt level 3 workshop and prebuilt level 2 infirmary
The Container Fort? It should have a machine shop which is level 3 workshop equivalent.
me personally i use bridge base as i use a small 6 man community and various outpost and i don't use cars so the railroad is a bonus for travel
i'd have to personally argue the bridge fort to be lower, hostiles getting stuck under the bridge derping out the AI and staying there even during base assaults meaning you have to clear out a hoard or two or fail the base defenses and the slightly better location of the church makes the church a much better option
Can you Make a beginners / tips and tricks video I really need a beginner guide xD
It's not a bad base to stay in. I wouldn't move out unless you have business elsewhere or are ready to jump into the Container Fort.
So from what i understand is that cascade hills is a medium difficulty map?
The map won't change that much. It's going to be the same. The map will just determine how hard it is to drive around and what bases are available.
@@GitGudFox ah, then I'm just really lucky to have a better community overall in my second save because everything just feels more easier. Either way you just got a new subscriber because your vids so far are extremely helpful

Love your vids! Keep up the amazing work
Bridge Fort is behind Container Fort. I like Bridge because it is so charming... like, a base on a bridge! So freaking cool
It is a cool base, but it's not necessarily a good base. Depending on the difficulty you're playing on, however, that may or may not matter.
Getting the good! Thanks!
No problem, glad the video was helpful.
Hey Hun!!! Can you tell me If you saw this before? Im sure you may have seen alot already 😋
not a major problem i kinda like it . I'm in Cascade Hills and Ive exhausted
the map from the looting and still do small looting runs, help some enclaves
I don't want to do the legacy part because i want to keep my group together when
i try to move to out of this town to a new place, just like on the "The Walking Dead Movie".
I like to keep our group together. Ive killed all the blood hearts, but i was out scavenging to
pick up a rucksack and i saw a few times some blood plague zombies.... Ive already asked
the network to find any blood hearts and they tell me Ive killed all of the blood
hearts. Where are these plague heart zombies coming from, is this normal are they
drifting from the other towns to the town I'm in ? I love zombie games and movies but
I'm a noob to playing these next gen games. I'm enjoying them though great graphics. So fox
what can ya tell me 👩🏻💖💖😄 Thank you!!!!!
Yeah the base can be very mazelike.
I always upgrade all my cars so driving never bothers me. I like looking at my cars as they plow through Zs
When you switch maps. Do you keep everything in the locker? All the guns, items, etc.
Yep.
@@GitGudFox 'preciate it. I haven't played the game in so long. Feels like I'm starting fresh 😂
The container fort would be perfect if there was an actual building given you the beds so you can make some white noise in there. All my other bases (especially the huge ones) have much much better morale.
The most addictive game i ever played, i wish resident evil series would do the same
The container fort now has a built in level 3 workshop
Always had one didn’t it?
good video man hoping to see more
Glad they were helpful. I'm working on 2 videos right now, one for SoD2 and the other for the new series. Both are taking more research than normal which is slowing me down.
Nice to hear did you ever think of State Of Decay 1 for your channel as something else you would like to play / cover? :)
While you wait for the new update
My base is the fort because It is pretty good to stay safe and if you have the right 12 survivors with the op skills or open 5 slots you can do anything I would choose 1 gardener, 2 doctors - surgery-pathology, automatic engineer construction metalwork, 2 computers programming electric, bomb-making for chemistry making strong painkillers another chemistry skill and and one cooking nutrition skill.
The Container Fort is one of my favorite bases.
What labtop are yall playing this on?
This is being played on the Xbox One.
You have a good voice. Try to do movie trailers!
Lol i actually don't mind the drive. I like that base M & M.
I like it more in Nightmare Zone, but I like it less in Standard.
Container fort is my favorite. Just because juggernauts can't get it. You can get high up when they invade.
Corner office is best if you're new. Even the bridge fort looks cool (never got)
The church sucks asssss. Seiges every few mins.
Mohr and Mohr not bad.
Key storage base never had
Meagher valley I love the baseball field. Even tho it gets busy. 3 large slots.
And baracade strip mall is awesome
If you have the firepower, sieges just mean more influence from zombies kills, especially on nightmare zone, where freak kills are double influence.
I've had a base at the Bridgefort in one of my playthroughs it's okay.
I use to have the corner office
Wouldn't recommend it on Nightmare Zone, but it's great on Standard Zone.
Good vid
It's an oldie but goodie!
@@GitGudFox I'm playing just on Normal. It's just so useless since the ppl in the watchtower don't shoot at anything.
@@GitGudFox aye fare enough I suppose you got a point, just not something that factors in to my base choices

Pretty fun game!
3:18 nice hatchback!
Why is cascade hills suddenly soo gray looking
Was it different before? I have not noticed.
I LOATHE the church on the hill. Such a pain in the ass to defend from sieges.
I like the new SOD2 vids. Most of the others are out of date.
Do you think they are out of date to the point of being obsolete and ought to be updated, or do you mean more the editing and pipeline of the videos?
I can check it out again. I have lived in the Container Fort, on Nightmare Zone, without a problem, but a second look at it couldn't hurt.
Git Gud Fox I see his point. When I used it to farm influence they’d always fall off the ramparts when I came back to it. Lost my hydroponic guy, he fell off and died in a siege.
M&M is a cool base to me cz I don’t mind the drive 😂 as long as you have access to gas the drive doesn’t matter
My thoughts on the base changed in Lethal Zone because all that really matters is absolute power.
Solo RP Story = Bridge Fort
Actual NM Playthrough = Container Fort
I stopped running out of gas once I made my leader a trader.
It's a really good leader type.
The starter base is exactly what my moms house looks like
Hard to believe so many are unable to grasp the simple idea that your thoughts on base "quality," is based on your opinion? Wow, what a strange concept. 😄
It's even like schools of thought.
In the Mechwarrior/Battletech universe, there's this eternal argument of what's better 1 big cannon or a bunch of small lasers? Both will get the job done, but depending on who your tutor is that you're listening to, you'll be instructed in likely 1 or the other not because 1 if definitively better but because each person making guides and tutorials will likely fall into a certain "school" of thought.
Goodbye staging area hello storage!!!!!!!
Went with Loch & Keogh?
Nah going with storage place as long as i can have at least 20 material storage I’m good
Corner office #1
2:22, go there directly jeez
Just moved into m&m and I hate it so much
What motivated you to move in?
Git Gud Fox basically the generator and the large building spaces, didn’t realize until later that the base was hard for me to defend and I didn’t take into account how far of a drive it was from everything, I moved into the storage container base and it’s so much better for me
@@customkush7103 I think that's one of the best bases in the game. It might even be the best base in the game if what you want is a self sufficient base with all issues of upkeep resolved easily resolved.
Git Gud Fox yeah I’m liking it but I’m having issues keeping up with morale right now due to supplies being low and multiple infestations in the area, I’m new to the game so I’m still figuring everything out
@@customkush7103 hey hows it going now?
