I'm doing all maps this is my last I got the game in the bundle and your really helping me out thanks I don't like this map:( I did the 2nd map first tho and no one died second map I did thanks to your vid on the container. I just went straight there thanks
Git Gud Fox I was hoping to ask if you could do a guide for all plague hearts location in all 3 maps since I been wanting to challenge myself and destroy all the plague heart in one session but the only problem is I haven’t been and to find all the location of plague hearts on nightmare mode so far I just have one left to destroy
Damn, I've done every other map and wanted to play on this map too, but I don't think I can. I mean shit I'd lose morale IRL if I played this map. This map is so horrifically terrible I think I'll pass, it's not only the map it's the basses as well. Idk how this map could have made the cut for this game.
i dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
When choosing location : Player : So what's your main feature Cascade Hills : I have many towns Meagher Valley : I'm flat and there's Wind turbines Providence Ridge : Well Trees and special axe Drucker County : *R O C K S*
@@vestdeployer3296 i advise against lethal on trumbul valley unless you start with 3 meal plan survivors i lost a nightmare community because of starvation stupid starter base
It would be nice if bases far from everything would have an “isolation bonus” that would reduce zombie threat to compensate for its inconvenient location. In an ideal game the bases beyond the starter base would all be viable and balanced between each other
I feel the same way but thought in the opposite direction, where the center of the map was always a coveted urban area, densely packed with resources, zombies, defensible positions, and friendly/neutral/enemy enclaves. But why not both? I also prefer the idea of being able to turn any cleared outpost into a main base, so that you can choose your location from the start based on strategic location and current or foreseeable community needs. As you accrue supplies you can fortify the main floor and build walls. As your community grows you can expand the size of your walls, possibly enveloping nearby buildings (which could be a cell tower, mechanic's garage, gas station, house, etc.) into your base, or simply expanding your yard to give yourself more outdoor small and large slots. I don't mean to suggest that the game should go all Fallout 4 on us with uber levels of customization. Presets are enough because enemy enclaves will be capturing, fortifying, and growing their territory, too. This would mean that all of the currently-designed bases would be something you can capture as outposts. If you choose to capture them instead of using them as a base, they could be treated as unique/prized outposts, similar to landmarks. Go ahead and capture the Drive-In, even though its location doesn't make it a suitable main base. You instantly gain 2 beds. Upgrade it once to unlock the bonus to morale. Upgrade it again to unlock a small slot. Upgrade it a final time to unlock a large slot. Then assign your crankiest community member to that location for some much needed R&R. Switch to them whenever a quest, enclave, or plague heart pops up in that area. Just make sure to patrol the road(s) between your base and outposts once or twice a week to make sure that hostile units don't cut off supply lines. Having your auto mechanic and engineer work together to build a turret atop your vehicle will help clear the roads and finally make use of those full auto weapons that tend to collect dust. A truck with dual AKs mounted to a rotating turret? Yes please! It is okay to make noise when you'll be gone a second later. Expect to lose some trunk space and fuel efficiency. Or use a generator at your base to charge up an electric vehicle for a stealthier option. Let's throw in a hybrid SUV while my wishlist continues to grow out of control. Speaking of growing... Don't have an engineer to help you build your base efficiently? Assign your gardener, pharmacologist, and pathologist (the latter is the only necessary person, but the other two help speed up the process and use fewer resources) to a lab where they can genetically engineer fast-growing and fast-dying Plague Walls to seal off an alleyway or otherwise create choke points. Have them genetically engineer a way to grow plague hearts, while you're at it, so that you can infest strategically chosen buildings to harass or otherwise make enemy enclaves think twice prior to entering certain areas. Upgrade them further with modified plague samples so that zombies near your plague hearts don't attack your community members. Expect to lose influence with people who don't like zombies in their neighborhood. Of course your pathologist will need to concentrate on their work, so keep their needs met within the safety of your base's walls. Such a valuable member of your community might get kidnapped or otherwise wind up working against you. Red Talon might be especially interested in weaponizing zombies. The Network might be interested in removing a zombie's violent tendencies. With whom will you share your results? Both? Neither? They might just try to take it without your approval.
Being able to Max out all of your communities skills with the movie theater makes it invaluable in my opinion. You really glossed over that part. You can take a person with no skills and Max them without ever having to take control of them. Very useful. Even if you don't stay in the base forever.
Sentinel Rhino I love Drucker. All my nightmare play is on that map. I play on the others with standard and dread communities. Although I do always main a driver skill character to do all the driving and swap him/her out for another when I reach an outpost near my objective.
it`s a good map . i hate the mpuntain pass but lovwe the rest . and knights drive in was imparititve pre patch so you could max out swordplay . i use it everytime i play the map with 10-12 settlers and max them out before i head to end game base.
Drucker is my favorite map and I can absolutely see why people hate it. It has that stream cutting through the middle, it’s super hard to traverse. However it is still my favorite because I got used to it. I know all the hidden passageways on the map, I know where to go to find all the best things early game, and it was my first ever map. I don’t like it because it’s good, I like it because it’s familiar.
@@GitGudFox if you look at the details, Latrine should be available in built in bonus like extra non facility consuming bonus. Like most base, house or structure have a toilet or a mobile toilet (that blue toilet stall outside).
To be honest for a strip mall it feels small but that could just be me but I agree that the roof should basically be a sniper watchtower but better because you have more coverage I wouldn't really trade any of the other built-in facilities for the sniper Tower I just wish they added it on so that base could compete with the Container Fort from Cascade Hills or the Fire Station from Providence Ridge
From the way zombie sieges work in SOD2, the roof isn't really that optimal for siege deterrent. If the sieges work like in SOD1 - where multiple hordes spawn on the roads a few blocks away from your base and march slowly towards your base, the roof then can be a good sniping point for picking off these deadheads who slowly come to view. In SOD2, they're doing it like in SOD1:Lifeline; but it's done in a worse way - sieges just spawn zombies in view - right next to your door. In Lifeline, zombies do not spawn that close - they spawn from across the road before zerging to your gate. This means that you will still at least have time to shoot them down from afar - about a few seconds before they reach to your walls. In SOD2, zombies just magically appear two feet from your gate. And if you tried it, you'll find that it's quite difficult to have a clear shot on them on the roof when they're right next to your walls. And yeah, I do miss the old zombie sieges in SOD1. It gives me not only time to prepare but also the clearance to strategize how I'm going to deal with them - do I use my vehicle to drive them over on the street? Or do I stay put in the base and aid my fellow survivors to snipe the zombies? Or I do actively go out and there and lay landmines on the roads? It gives me the freedom to do problem solving other than "guess I'll wait here and shoot my guns".
Alex Quill more like every day they ain’t getting none other than him so either they have to share or they stay horny and pissed either way im surprised he made it to day 30💀
Love your base reviews, something that I think would be interesting would be a worst to best review of the sod1 bases then a comparison with the updated version when the map comes out
This is my favourite map and Mikes Concrete is my favourite base. It's nice and compact for defending against sieges and I find the layout of the towns more realistic and immersive. I didn't like the strip mall as much as I found it more difficult to run around when being attacked. Agree with all the other points. Great videos, really enjoying your nightmare series. Keep up the good work!
The most dangerous thing about the mall is the rear section. Your AI allies can get trapped there with zombies including a juggernaut. I wound up having to block it off with a car in Nightmare Zone.
@@GitGudFox Funny you should say that. During the last builder legacy mission I lost some community members to gunfire (on standard) when the humans turned hostile and I couldn't find them in the offices. How I regretted leaving MC :(
Yeah, I'm trying Mike's Concrete out this time around and so far I'm liking the location a bit more than the Strip Mall's. Not sure if I'll like it better/worse overall yet, though.
@@GitGudFox Problem with the Strip Mall or Container fort is they're off the beaten path. Fort is way in the south. Strip mall way to the north. Brewery or Mikes concrete or Wally's have the best locations. Oh and I guess that house with grain silo next to brewery is okay since kinda dead center of map as well. I like the outpost strip mall wannabe near that post office though. Not sure if its this map or the map I left. Bridge fort be okay as well but kinda small and most of the members be on the roof all day. Strip mall all members sit on the roof. Also chance you fall off the ladders. Kinda wished Dead labs would all more bases that are previously only outposts. Police station outpost on this map be awesome. Or the strip mall outposts next to post office which is like 4 or so shops. Or fire stations. Or that a military outpost next to the truck stop base which is behind it. Probably other cool outposts which could be nice as a legit base for locations.
I have to say that even though the terrain is rough to drive on I do love the map its so gorgeous I have always been a fan of deserts and the way they look
I don't like this map either. So far the Valley is my absolut favorite but Cascade Hills has a nice touch too. My favorite bases from all the maps: - Squelones Brewing Company - Camp Kelenqua - Mazzara Farm - Wally's Bar and Grill - Corner Office
Roman Squelones Brewing Company is my favorite too. So much to offer and don’t want to leave it. But interested in Camp Klenqua. What makes the Camp so great?
The Camp has 8 in-built beds. Pretty impressive though. And of course the whole look of the camp, the beautiful location and just the feeling to live in a camp in a zombie apokalypse.
Yeah, it reminds me of the rally hatchback from SoD1. I started using it a lot when I realized it tied the speed of the Racer MX while having 5 trunk slots.
You need a signal booster to plug into your command center and knowledge of computers to get your command center to level 3. That will give you 6 outposts. You can get a 7th if you have a red talon operative with the hacking skill.
The bases are still ordered about what I would say they should be even for Lethal Zone as well. On Lethal Zone, the movie theater might be more useful as the EXP penalty can hurt a lot, but the order wouldn't be much different.
The Cabin Park motel comes with 3 free beds and an open center area so it is easy to defend against sieges without characters getting stuck/trapped on objects. The 3 free beds is equal to another small facility slot so it is effectively a 5 small slot, 2 large slot base. I like it.
Thing about beds is all they do is protect you from -7 morale per character. Most players overvalue beds because the game makes you think they're important. Example. 3 Characters without beds = -21 morale. Build 1 shelter with 2 beds now = -7 morale because 2 beds blocks -7 morale for 2 survivors. INSTEAD Build 1 latrine and clean latrine = +9 morale. How? clean latrine is +10 morale x ALL community members. +10 x 3 Survivors = +30 Morale. +30 Morale - 21 Morale from no beds = +9 morale. This is why beds are not good.
@@GitGudFox How about recovering from fatigue? Plus the open space in the Cabin Park Motel makes it much easier to handle sieges than in the more cramped bases that get survivors killed.
Also I prefer drunker over cascade/ foothills as I prefer to have long term communities but meager is my most favorite. The only base in meager valley is the police station as the cell beds always give negative morale.
Since I was new to the game when I started my nightmare, I hit random and was gifted this shithole. I plan on staying in Wally’s. Might change maps after I clear the blood plague tho.
I am in #2 base , but no leader yet , i feel that this base have what i need, it's a hard map to drive through but with shortcuts it's much more easy, you helped us a lot fox,, thanks,,
When I got into the concrete base I pretty much stayed there for the majority of the game as it suited my team well for the most part. Most of the other bases just were not worth the hassle. I liked the region (it’s not a favorite but it’s okay) but The base options really bring it down.
I wish they let you create a map or modify existing bases to add more spots, or they create a map that you can build everything at one place if you wanted. All the bases seem small with all the stuff you can build..
I fully agree with the Vogel House. It is so central, with a lot of buildings around. No need to change asap to another base. Unlike in Cascade hills, The start base is just a pain in the ass.
@@GitGudFox This is the only point which make it something like acceptable in Cascade hills. But it is so decentral and the nearest expansion is the bridge fort.... which i believe is not that good. I switched vom hills to Drucker mostly because of the Vogel House (which I learned about in your Video).
I use the "Trail Beast" vehicle for 90% of my driving in all three maps. That said, I don't mind Drucker County since I have found numerous shortcuts through the map. The Container Fort is the king of all bases but I would much rather operate out of the Barricaded Strip Mall than Whitney Field any day. The Barricaded Strip Mall Feels secure like an actual base where Whitney Field feels like playing in a neighbor's yard. As always any video you produce will be great but the fifth skill idea is fantastic. It is an area of the game I have put a lot of thought into.
@@GitGudFox Desperado or the Vagabond. It's a light armor upgrade. The rest of the time I use the Smash Wagon with my community member that has a driving fifth skill. Mostly for missions that require a really long drive.
Once again, dead on, well made and well informed. Great job! If I may, these are my own strategies and thoughts on the Mall. Mileage varies of course: 1. Locating Materials is something that takes 35 Influence (which you can get in minutes of normal gameplay) and will always generate a rucksack. As long as you dont mind going to get it (which is admittedly a pain in Drucker), you never have to worry about materials. Just keep on top of it. 2. There's a Dewitt Van at the restaurant just down the road. Pick it up and put it near the gate as a handy little rucksack storage. 3. I, too, am baffled on why you can't turn the dojo into something else. It's not like its full of anything, just mats and training dummies. 4. Small concern but worth mentioning: this place is a pain to secure upon discovery. There's usually not many zeds inside, but lots of nooks and crannies you have to clear. It's easy to get blindsided by a lurking zed when you are checking back rooms. 5. It might be worth your while to stockpile some ammo before moving in, then go into a big building frenzy to get set up. Then go off and explore. As long as you have 3 ammo to burn each time, you can let your folks at home deal with the sieges at max level. 6. Another drawback is that this place only has one outdoor small slot: if you want a still you need to sacrifice the watchtower: if you dont have a Red Talon watchtower to use instead, this is going to open you up to more sieges. 7. Another possibility is to tear down the bunks and just use outposts for the housing needs. Naturally, this will cost you the White Noise Machine morale bonus (if you have it) 8. Setting up some hydroponics farms, then switching them to meds, and using them to build Plague Cure Cases will make you a fortune. It is, of course, a lot of work and slot sacrifices to do so. 9. Sieges suck at this place if they get into the stores. Then you have to go in there and clean them out, and the other survivors will often linger inside, making it worse. 10. If you are living in this base, I'd recommend The Kaiser as your vehicle of choice. It's very durable, it's pretty fast, it is remarkably nimble, and has decent fuel economy. That makes it a very good car for this map in general which requires so much driving and is inconvenient to repair pit stops. The only thing that will suck is its small trunk space (4 slots). Again, the ranking was just right. I think it speaks volumes that the Starter House ISN'T at the bottom. It's not because the house is so good, it's just the bases in Drucker are so bad. And this map is no fun to navigate, with all the meandering roads, clumped civilization, and the terrain and littered roads giving you many, many places to get stuck with your car. Finally, there's one more perk that should be said for the Mountain Lodge. You have the high ground for sieges. In fact, if you perch yourself on the Northeast ridge just outside the fence, most zombies will spawn at the foot of the mountain and charge uphill, making them sitting ducks, especially against a Gunslinger. Your other survivors should be able to take care of the other fronts.
When I used the mall in Nightmare Zone, it was pretty important to block the rear entrances because both survivors and zombies would get trapped in there including the plague juggernauts.
I've found that in Drucker county, how you build a base is a lot different than in more open maps. There's a distinct benefit to focusing on being material and fuel positive, and using the auto-shop and staging area to their utmost ability. Being materially positive means having access to ammo via a munitions tech, and taking advantage of the auto-shops' active abilities with upgraded vehicles shines in a map where you're stuck to long roads and narrows clogged with hordes.
I'm at my first playthrough right now and I've picked this map, I started to hate driving for missions haha. Since I don't have any legacies maybe the concrete base is an even more solid choice (pun intended) since I can use the built-in generator! I don't have any R.T. buildings yet but I've seen the video about them and when I finish this one as a builder and get the buildings my next playthroughs are gonna be swift, with the container fort. Love your videos!!
@@GitGudFox Oh I'm playing on normal mode, but I'm not on the map with the Container Fort. I know I can change maps but I also wanna explore this one for now before never returning since I hate driving too much.
I can't tell you how happy i am for finding this amazing fucking channel!! I jus started playing & don't know the other maps besides the new one i think? I want something new & have no idea where to start til now.
Imagine if we can combine the Container Fort with the Barricaded Strip Mall. It'll be a Fortress Strip Mall. All huge containers surrounded the stripmall, and we got a nice building with flush toilet and shower! Water supply is nearby, we can also get a power station or put in our own generator (not counting the builder legacy boon). Surround by huge containers that zombies can't knock down, we can then build a big drop-down gate at the front. We can have a fortress that can withstand even harsh weather during the winter.
@@GitGudFox Agreed. These survivors are supposed to be the most fit - they made it after all. Even with max shooting skill and a rifle with a scope, they somehow miss their target that are very close to them. How about a big fat juggernaut moving slow or a screamer that standing still? I saw my survivor missed the screamer as it was going toward my base. The survivor got an RTX Stormbringer with 61 bullets in the magazine. I heard "Bang, bang, bang and more..." and the damn screamer is still close by screaming at the top of its lungs.
My favorite (non container fort) base in the game is Mike's Concrete. The location is great, it's INCREDIBLY easy to defend (park cars at the side doors and back wall where Zombies jump in) and put a watch tower at the small slot in the front. Since it's not right on the road where hordes wander past the only time you need to worry about them is during scripted sieges, and with the back and sides blocked with cars the only way for zombies to come is right at the front allowing for easy defenses.
Great video. I agree with all the damn driving but I never had any issues with the strip mall like you did. My mall is completely self sustainable. I had so much stuff I didnt need to loot but I did to fill my bordem and I stopped using my melee weapons and shot or blew everything up
I'm new to the game and I guess i don't mind Drucker county because it was the first map I played. Mike's Concrete was my favorite base on this map. I went from Drucker county to Meagher valley and driving was such a breeze in the valley.
I wish I had seen this video before moving there. I'm having a hard time driving, mostly at night, bro, the struggle is real. I'm going back to the fire station.
If you're okay with having 1 large facility, try the restaurant in the middle of the map. I can assure you that it's a functional base as I used it during my 4th Lethal Zone playthrough as my final base.
I do have a video that examines the facilities and the facility mods. th-cam.com/video/ZwELADU49qY/w-d-xo.html&t Was there a further amount of information you wanted on it?
I don't expect that. What gamers who click on this video expect is a snapshot of what Drucker County is like and whether or not the bases are good. Making a value judgement on whether or not it's good that Drucker County is the way that it is doesn't have anything to do with the video's subject matter.
@@GitGudFox Seems fair. Really enjoying your videos by the way. I am a long time player but I find some new things thanks to your videos. Keep up the good work!
Something I think UL got in reverse is that they put some of the highest quality bases in the easiest region, Meagher Valley. They should have put the highest average base quality in DC to offset the challenge of the terrain and gas expenditure etc.
@@GitGudFox My guess is that they created these three maps with a logical progression in mind. You have Meagher Valley with its open fields and dope bases, then you have Cascade Hills as a middle ground in terrain and bases department, and then finally you have Drucker County, which is the hardest to traverse but doesn't have that many nice bases.
I don't mind this map, really. The valley was the last map I played, and at first, I hated it, because the roads are so clogged. That, of course, is because I'm so used to having to drive on the roads, lol. I like Mike's Concrete for Drucker County. I prefer the central location, and I don't usually seem to be missing much as far as facilities. I do really wish I could get rid of the darn generator, and get an additional small, but, oh well. Also, I think the fuel tank should have a watchtower effect, as it does put you up, above the walls.
That would make it fine, the watch tower fuel tank. I can't imagine why UL thought we'd need 100 fuel. It's like we'd need to build some kind of gigantic mortar that fires incendiary bombs to make use of it or something.
The only thing I dont like about about sticker is that bases like the barricaded strip mall has so much more space for facilities on the to vut isn't used.
The first time I played this I picked this map cause i assumed the castle would be amazing. Then I thought I was just picky about the roads etc but i feel a need to complete my missions here before I move on. Really wish I'd seen this video before starting 😂
@@GitGudFox I have a really nice shortcut coming from the East towards the center. There's a slope alongside the hospital that you can drive up and down with ease. But it is frustrating having to drive for so long just to do simple missions, I also made the misfortune of moving to the mechanics home Base, it seemed a good idea and hasn't been too bad however it is again annoying having to drive so long and far for missions. Getting prepared to move to the Mall soon and then finish this map so I can move.
This place I've also found can sometimes be short on needed resources.. on standard difficulty. I ACTUALLY like the drive in. BUT think as a whole on any map it largely ALSO depends on difficulty, what your progress with the plague hearts is and how big your Community is I've found that largely dictates where you want to set up home balanced with what you happen to be needing at the time Only real advantages besides the beds is the location situated on a good spot protected from all but a large hoard attack which I find always helps if you got enough guns to protect it.
I hate that the Grill has ladders to access the rooftop but has no guard tower. You can obviously build one on top of the building main entrance similar to the Police station at Meagher valley. Decided to stay at Mike's Concrete well I'll be relying on the road too much so the additional fuel storage is useful in a way.
Honestly Knights Family drive in isn't to bad to just stay in for a few days you can spam the theater and level up all your characters and move on somewhat quickly without even playing as said character which I kinda like
So when are you going to do reviews of the Providence Ridge bases? I've already completed a play through on the map, but I'd still like to hear your take on them.
I think it's pretty obvious that the reason the map is so "tedious" is because it's supposed to help lengthen the overall playing time of the game. I found another gamer who went through and mapped out all the short cuts on the map. there were a ton of them. you may wanna make a video showing all your fans where those shortcuts are. just an idea
I found this map to be by far the easiest map to deal with and complete as there is only one grouping of buildings that can not be scouted by a billboard/scout tower, there seem to be far fewer plague hearts on this map as this is the smallest of the 3 maps, and the starting base is in such a great location that you can gather supplies and build your enclave support so quickly that you can be fully prepared to move into of the better bases and start taking out all of the plague hearts by day 3. Though until watching this video it never occurred to me that anyone would continue to just not follow the roads to their destination. After playing several open world racing games, it's just burned into my mind that for the most part it's far faster to just take the roads. There are a few things you can cut but basically if you can't see the road you're trying to shortcut to, it's not faster
People don't have trouble with DC because they lack the imagination to find shortcuts. It's because people waste more time trying to find shortcuts and decide driving on the road is the most efficient path instead of potentially wasting a great deal more time finding shortcuts. It sounds to me that you simply have a high familiarity with this map, or you haven't really thought about how much more efficient the other maps are due to their simpler terrain.
Honestly the map probably fits my playstyle far more than anything else. Though it is probably true that I have a better understanding of this map, especially now that I've been trying to complete all four legacies again on the harder difficulties, with this being the map I've put myself on for these playthroughs. As for the other maps, I've got a decent understanding of where everything is and a few simple cuts I can make, but having done only 2 playthroughs on each, 1 by myself and another helping one of my friends on the Hills map, and the lady friend through the Valley. There's definitely more on those maps that I could probably take advantage of that I just haven't yet taken the time to discover. Though DC seems to be the simplest map with the least to learn
Mike's concrete is my favorite. Next after is Wally's Bar and Grill but a boring drive to get to. It's a shame the outpost police station couldn't be a base on this map. But to much driving on this map. So I need gasoline. I have each member of a 12 member crew carry at least 1 or 2 gas cans and one repair tool box for road kills.
Baseball field is nice but way to the south as well. I like good location dead center bases. The office building I hate, but kinda in the center if my memory serves me right.
Really like ALL of your state of decay 2 videos. I am like you in that I don’t like D county at all as it is almost unplayable at night. I want to officially request that you cover 5th skills and ideal traits to look for such as unbreakable, just keeps going, and determined. Also, the benefits, if any, to recruiting Red Talon NPCs to your community with the negatives they add and some are major like 50% fatigue rate penalty or 50% disease susceptibility. Another suggestion is to cover ideal starting skills such as Lichen, Fisher, Music and Driver among many others. Thanks for your insight!!!
This map definitely benefits from the driving 5th skill,I honestly loved the drive in theater but true biggest complaint is the driving,I also enjoyed Wally B&G and the camp
I enjoy all of the maps, because variety is good. I tend to use Wally's and the Concrete place when I play the map. The Strip Mall is good too, and it's not really that hard to get people with the skills to use at least some of the built-in facilities.
I have no idea why but before I watched this series, I actually loved Drucker County so much more than the other 2, Cascade is my least favorite still by far. I restarted SoD2 and am just rushing through the first 4 play-through to get all the legacy cards. Finished the first game in Drucker in about 5 or so hours.
just found out something the other day that may or may not make the truck stop worth another look. Personally, I still don't like it. That said: I learned that if you have finished the friendly enclave project for Auto Mechanics that give you the option to Call in a Vehicle via the radio (and even with DLC, it's the only way to call in a vehicle when doing co-op), then you will get Knowledge of Auto Mechanics. I was messing with my upgraded workshop after doing their missions and noticed that I was able to make upgraded tool kits even though my mechanic was an engineer. I was on Cascade Hills when I noticed this though. Could this make or break that facility in the truck stop? Maybe. A lot of the times when I play online with people 80% of them are asking me if the auto shop is a worth while option. A lot of people want upgraded cars and the passives from it, it would seem. I've often told people though, that you should only build it when you want the upgrade kits and if you can't afford them from wandering traders. Then destroy it for a better facility. I still agree with the rating since you can't tear it down when you don't need to use it and don't need the fuel efficiency with so much fuel storage. That and fuel isn't really hard to come by if you actually look for stuff.
That's not a bad idea. You'd at least be able to use the autoshop. The problem I have with the autoshop is that it's not really a facility I like to have constructed 24/7. I prefer to build it, use it for the upgrades I need, then tear it down when I'm done with it. If I need it again, I just build it again temporarily.
No, but the value is pretty low compared to other methods. At the minimum, I would get a munitions expert and a filling machine, convert the fuel into the throwable fuel bombs (you make 12 at a time with this setup), and they sell for a lot more than just selling the rucksacks raw.
I’m spending 100 days on each map. I saved Drucker for last... I found out that was a mistake as the days get longer as your day count goes up. So I should be spending more time in Drucker now. I will be moving to the Motel when I get there.
I didn't spend 100 days on Drucker County, but I was there for a while when I needed to record the footage for all the bases. I am definitely glad to be out of the map.
While drucker county is a slower map because of drive time, i think the topography gives the player a subtle advantage over Z's basically every single neighborhood is surrounded by rocky outcropping that prevents massive hordes from surrounding you on all sides
I also have yet to have a jug spawn at vogel because i don't think the topography allowed the game very many random juggs in that area in the first place?\
I want to say I have fought a juggernaut near the Vogel house, but I will also say that I don't have very strong memories of this which indicates they could very well be uncommon in that area.
I guess the counter argument to this benefit is that fighting less juggernauts means less influence and less plague samples. Also, your allies are drastically more effective in combat now and can neutralize juggernauts much more easily when equipped with halfway decent guns.
@@GitGudFox they still occur they during sieges and things but vogel house basically only has half of the ambient zombie spawning area of other bases. and because of the hills and things its much easier to just pot shot your feral hordes for your 170 influence. not saying its amazing just saying that maybe less experienced players can still navigate nightmare mode on this particular map
Hands down in my opinion camp kelemqua is the best base in meagher vally. Also I feel like meagher vally is like easymood. Pretty easy map pretty easy to remember where old military camps are weapon crates etc.
A lot of people like that base. I think if you like Camp Kelenqua, the natural evolution into a top tier base that is similar to it is the Container Fort.
I just started playing and I feel like the best thing to do is save up to get the drive in place to level skills using the training films on green difficulty then move over to barricaded to build your main facilities to make ammo and what not then fill your three characters inventories use a friend as a pack mule and finally complete the game this combo honestly feels like a cheat
Yes, it wouldn't be an undead simulation without a mall. Games like Dead Rising certainly drew inspiration from Dawn of the Dead for it. Day of the Dead was my favorite of the first 3 movies.
Git Gud Fox I agree but for me I started with drucker county and that was the only map I actually moved into a different base I don't know why I dont progress on the other maps
Yeah, it's something in the to-do list. Ever since I started making daily episodes, it has made it hard to make guides. The guides were made when I was unemployed + not making gameplay videos, so I could dedicate every day to working on guides as well as still have time to enjoy myself. It's much harder now.
I did help but notice on one of your other videos (the one about melee weapons) that you were on day 100, how do you do that, i get so bored around day 25 or 30 and have to start a new community, also i still have all my stuff from my first community because what my friend and i would do was drop our stuff then make a new community and then have him give it all back. I live this game and have love sod since the first one and im trying to kake a long term community but im really having trouble with staying entertained, P.S. im really excited for trumble valley return and i hope they dont mess it up
Git Gud Fox exactly, I just feel like it has so much more potential as a final base, I actually just moved from Drucker County to the hills so that I could get the container fort after watching your videos :)
Only if you want to go. Drucker County isn't unplayable. It can just be frustrating. It sounds like you're new to the game though so you won't really have any context on Drucker County until you play on the other maps. It's like comparing Christmas to Halloween without participating in them both. If you feel like you don't enjoy your stay in Drucker County, Meagher Valley is the easiest to move around in.
Drucker is were I am doing my trader legacy. Not to bad but I am using my influence like a fiend to drive from place to place and not go completely crazy searching for Gas.
I know this is about drucker co. But i gotta ask! At 0.28 we get a glimpse of the beek keeper's yard. I have never seen lattice over those bee hives! Anyone know when they were added [or removed]?
Should i stay in this map after spending about 10 days or should i move to an easier map and start another community, i agree with the fact that the map is kinda depressing and hard to move around :P
Spring has come early in my state, so my uploads may slow a bit while dealing with the unending onslaught of leaves being dumped into my yard.
I'm doing all maps this is my last I got the game in the bundle and your really helping me out thanks I don't like this map:(
I did the 2nd map first tho and no one died second map I did thanks to your vid on the container.
@Tanner Kristopher instablaster :)
I used to like driving, then I passed through Drucker county lol
My least favorite map.
I found it a fun challenge and took the base in the center with the fire station next door
I like drucker the most so far
Five years after this post, I DREAD to play Drucker country just looking at these base positions
When choosing location :
Player : So what's your main feature
Cascade Hills : I have many towns
Meagher Valley : I'm flat and there's Wind turbines
Providence Ridge : Well Trees and special axe
Drucker County : *R O C K S*
I’m doing all the lethal zone legacy and this is the 2nd one I chose and I regret it
@@vestdeployer3296 i advise against lethal on trumbul valley unless you start with 3 meal plan survivors i lost a nightmare community because of starvation stupid starter base
It would be nice if bases far from everything would have an “isolation bonus” that would reduce zombie threat to compensate for its inconvenient location.
In an ideal game the bases beyond the starter base would all be viable and balanced between each other
Yeah, you'd think that some bases would be a wasteland, like Mohr & Mohr, which is out in the woods.
Feel like I'm in the minority. I love druker county
I hate all the rocky driving terrain.
Same
Sentinel Rhino I love Drucker.
This video, like the rest, are very well made and super helpful. I actually just moved into Wally's Bar and Grill last night. Thanks for what you do!
I still believe that the strip mall should have a built in watchtower on the roof
I'd trade the latrine for it.
Yeah
Or a small slot or 2 for building them and you may build a red talon watchtower instead.
The sleeping areas requiring materials to maintain everyday is dumb. Are my survivors breaking the beds whenever they wake up or something??
Got to repopulate some time 😎

The barricaded strip mall is my all time favorite. I had it self sustaining and didn’t want to leave.
I also spent some times in mikes concrete.
Those are my top 2 bases.
I come to Git Gud Fox tons while playing always a little something to learn. Information here is still current best I can tell.
I don't like this map either. So far the Valley is my absolut favorite but Cascade Hills has a nice touch too. My favorite bases from all the maps:
- Squelones Brewing Company
- Camp Kelenqua
- Mazzara Farm
- Wally's Bar and Grill
- Corner Office
I like all of those myself.
Roman that’s good to know. Yeah totally agree and I was thinking if the Camp should provide a morale boost due to the nice view of the lake.
You don't like the container fort?
Seeing all the unique skills in the game would be cool.
That will probably be coming up, I'm going to do the generic 5th skills then move into the special 5th skills.
Bro you really like that hatch lol, I think my favorite hatch is the one from the dlc keep up the great content bro.
Yeah, it reminds me of the rally hatchback from SoD1. I started using it a lot when I realized it tied the speed of the Racer MX while having 5 trunk slots.
@@GitGudFox so its a much better car
I can't figure out how you always have the extra Outposts! You really have this game figured out!!
You need a signal booster to plug into your command center and knowledge of computers to get your command center to level 3. That will give you 6 outposts. You can get a 7th if you have a red talon operative with the hacking skill.
@@GitGudFox ahhhhhh ok! Thanks!!
I noticed there are 2 different signal boosters, do they give the same bonus? (The dish type one, and the 4 Omni type one)
The one that looks like dish is +2 outposts. The one that has 4 spokes pointing out of it is the more common one but is +1 outpost.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh well I definitely missed a few good opportunitys
One of best introduction, I have ever listened.
The bases are still ordered about what I would say they should be even for Lethal Zone as well.
On Lethal Zone, the movie theater might be more useful as the EXP penalty can hurt a lot, but the order wouldn't be much different.
You make the best SOD2 vids. I don't like it here either. 😆
Probably because no one makes SoD2 vids!
@@GitGudFox big sad
I actually get around this map with ease but have to do a lot of following the roads on cascade hills lol
INSTEAD
Build 1 latrine and clean latrine = +9 morale.
How? clean latrine is +10 morale x ALL community members.
Worst map on the game! Just so much emptiness around and way too much driving. I use the gas base as my favorite.
Yeah I'm not a fan of it myself.
Git Gud Fox very helpful opinion to share. Lol.
I only like it because there’s so much useful stuff near the first base.
Where is the gas base
Also I prefer drunker over cascade/ foothills as I prefer to have long term communities but meager is my most favorite. The only base in meager valley is the police station as the cell beds always give negative morale.
Since I was new to the game when I started my nightmare, I hit random and was gifted this shithole. I plan on staying in Wally’s. Might change maps after I clear the blood plague tho.
I can't stand this map. Too much driving, tons of obstructions, and the bases are not very good in general.
Git Gud Fox yeh it feels like the worst map to play on honestly
I am in #2 base , but no leader yet , i feel that this base have what i need, it's a hard map to drive through but with shortcuts it's much more easy, you helped us a lot fox,, thanks,,
Mike's is more than good enough to operate out of. You basically swap out a small facility for a large facility at the strip mall.
When I got into the concrete base I pretty much stayed there for the majority of the game as it suited my team well for the most part. Most of the other bases just were not worth the hassle. I liked the region (it’s not a favorite but it’s okay) but The base options really bring it down.
It's one of the best bases in the region.
Git Gud Fox you know what have been neat, especially for a desert-ish map. A military base or something similar that would have been such a cool idea.
I love playing on this map listening to King of the Hill Ambience while my community’s suited up in flannel, jeans, and cowboy hats
I really wished the Drive In Movie Theater was a 8 man base, it's big enough to be one but for some reason they limited it to 6 and made it small
I think it'd have a better theme than the strip mall too.
I lived in Wally's throughout my first playthrough of the game.
It's a surprisingly good 4-man base.
Love these videos. Would love to see them for Providence Ridge and Trumbull Valley if you ever have the desire to make those.
The starting bases are great in the beginning of the game with their 6 built in beds.
@@GitGudFox This is the only point which make it something like acceptable in Cascade hills. But it is so decentral and the nearest expansion is the bridge fort.... which i believe is not that good. I switched vom hills to Drucker mostly because of the Vogel House (which I learned about in your Video).
Aww I loved Drucker country and the cabin park motel base! Was so so cool.
What vehicle is the trail beast made from?
@@GitGudFox Desperado or the Vagabond. It's a light armor upgrade. The rest of the time I use the Smash Wagon with my community member that has a driving fifth skill. Mostly for missions that require a really long drive.
Once again, dead on, well made and well informed. Great job!
If I may, these are my own strategies and thoughts on the Mall. Mileage varies of course:
Naturally, this will cost you the White Noise Machine morale bonus (if you have it)
I could agree with that. I hate driving around in DC.
Container Fort is a great base even in Nightmare Zone.

They'd have to improve the AI because the AI is awful with shooting past obstacles. They need really clean lines of fire.
Strip mall all day everyday
You changed your icon I see.
Git Gud Fox yea I do that alot
My favorite (non container fort) base in the game is Mike's Concrete. The location is great, it's INCREDIBLY easy to defend (park cars at the side doors and back wall where Zombies jump in) and put a watch tower at the small slot in the front. Since it's not right on the road where hordes wander past the only time you need to worry about them is during scripted sieges, and with the back and sides blocked with cars the only way for zombies to come is right at the front allowing for easy defenses.
Also it's awesome if you don't have/want to use the Builder boon for the generator already built in.
Mike's is probably my favorite base in Drucker County.
Great video. I agree with all the damn driving but I never had any issues with the strip mall like you did. My mall is completely self sustainable. I had so much stuff I didnt need to loot but I did to fill my bordem and I stopped using my melee weapons and shot or blew everything up

@@GitGudFox oh, no didn't realize there was a video, thanks
You can't expect every map to have same set of challenges Fox. That's what makes them unique.
Drucker county was my first map I went to.
It was the last map I went to.
Already hate driving drucker, and only been there for 6 game days. Lol
Ok not quite as bad. But certainly not doing half the night runs, cross country
The only thing I dont like about about sticker is that bases like the barricaded strip mall has so much more space for facilities on the to vut isn't used.
It maintains the balance in the game; otherwise, everyone would pick the largest base by default.
Fair enough. It just seems like it's so empty on the roofs of bases. Like the barricaded strip mall. But you make a 'gud' points.😜
The first time I played this I picked this map cause i assumed the castle would be amazing. Then I thought I was just picky about the roads etc but i feel a need to complete my missions here before I move on. Really wish I'd seen this video before starting 😂
It is without a doubt my least favorite map. There are shortcuts through the mountains supposedly, but I never found it worthwhile to find them.
BUT think as a whole on any map it largely ALSO depends on difficulty, what your progress with the plague hearts is and how big your Community is I've found that largely dictates where you want to set up home balanced with what you happen to be needing at the time
Only real advantages besides the beds is the location situated on a good spot protected from all but a large hoard attack which I find always helps if you got enough guns to protect it.
Great videos and content...
These overall base reviews were pretty highly requested, so I'm glad they're still paying off.
Great video
Hey thanks for taking the time to watch it.
What's the video called?
Makes you wonder why barricaded strip mall doesn't have Castle Doctrine considering it has lookouts on the roof.
Probably to make the Container Fort more unique.
DC has the most concentrated towns and the fewest sporadically dotting buildings of the regions. It is definitely that.
I like Mike's Concrete quite a bit in DC myself.
5th Skills is probably going to be next which will include the stuff like lichenology etc.
This map definitely benefits from the driving 5th skill,I honestly loved the drive in theater but true biggest complaint is the driving,I also enjoyed Wally B&G and the camp
Yeah, driving is great on Drucker County. It's good anywhere really especially in the Nightmare Zone. The silent driving actually makes a difference.
I don't like the driving in DC. I like Meagher valley.
just found out something the other day that may or may not make the truck stop worth another look. Personally, I still don't like it. That said:
I learned that if you have finished the friendly enclave project for Auto Mechanics that give you the option to Call in a Vehicle via the radio (and even with DLC, it's the only way to call in a vehicle when doing co-op), then you will get Knowledge of Auto Mechanics.
They should've added more slots to the mall because there is literally room for it, plus the ENTIRE ROOF is untouched.
Concrete base + a couple fuel outposts = never ending currency.
How do you use the fuel to make money?
Used to be you could put them in rucksacks and sell em to NPCs, they change that?
No, but the value is pretty low compared to other methods. At the minimum, I would get a munitions expert and a filling machine, convert the fuel into the throwable fuel bombs (you make 12 at a time with this setup), and they sell for a lot more than just selling the rucksacks raw.
you gonna cover the providence ridge map?
loving these videos
I’m spending 100 days on each map. I saved Drucker for last... I found out that was a mistake as the days get longer as your day count goes up. So I should be spending more time in Drucker now. I will be moving to the Motel when I get there.
I didn't spend 100 days on Drucker County, but I was there for a while when I needed to record the footage for all the bases. I am definitely glad to be out of the map.
This map gets annoying but I been going 89 days with one of my communities there.
I hate running missions on the map.
4:11 Minecraft Villager?😄
Hrrrrnnn!
Great video!
Thanks for stopping by, B Mobile.
I like the cabin motel only problem is it's really small
It gets the job done as a mid game base.
Lol i never knew about the cabin motel base
Yeah, it's a sort of duplicate of the camp grounds.
Once Trumbull Valley is available, a Ranked Worst To Best of all four regions would be great
Trumbull? Im sorry, but have i missed an announcement or something?
@@aarongillard2615 yes. Sometime in January they announced they're bringing back Trumbull Valley, among other stuff.
Yeah, I'll definitely be taking a look at the new map when it comes out. I could probably compare the 4 with one another.
I wonder how the heck the hospital isn't a base. Would be awesome, it gives a silent hill vibe.
I think the amount of loot it gives u tho kinda pays off for the driving
for me , as a Dawn of the Dead fan, i love the mall base but absolutely HATE this map ! such a shame.
Yes, it wouldn't be an undead simulation without a mall. Games like Dead Rising certainly drew inspiration from Dawn of the Dead for it. Day of the Dead was my favorite of the first 3 movies.
Anybody notice how Drucker County is mostly desert and terrain and is considered the hardest map.
And it's shaped like Australia?
I have not noticed that. I wonder if it's coincidence.
I only played this map once and my base was the mike's concrete lol
The map that is my favourite is drucker county bc out of the three maps that's the one I know the most
Meagher Valley is the easiest map to learn because you can drive in just about any direction you want.
Git Gud Fox I agree but for me I started with drucker county and that was the only map I actually moved into a different base I don't know why I dont progress on the other maps
Git gud fox do you reckon you could do an update of best bases now that outposts can be upgraded?
Yeah, it's something in the to-do list. Ever since I started making daily episodes, it has made it hard to make guides.
The guides were made when I was unemployed + not making gameplay videos, so I could dedicate every day to working on guides as well as still have time to enjoy myself.
It's much harder now.
How do you get the red talon officer quarters? I don't see it in my game
It's one of the items from the Daybreak DLC.
Mikes concrete in my fav base
can you make a timestamp of your worst to best? I'm just trying to skim through the second best i dont want the first best
Let’s do the best setup for every base( i mean THE BEST SETUP)
I'll need to go through the 5th skills first to determine that.
I live this game and have love sod since the first one and im trying to kake a long term community but im really having trouble with staying entertained, P.S. im really excited for trumble valley return and i hope they dont mess it up
Strip mall should have slots on the roof, just saying
There's room for it especially a built in watch tower though I doubt the AI would be able to hit anything at such a range.
Git Gud Fox exactly, I just feel like it has so much more potential as a final base, I actually just moved from Drucker County to the hills so that I could get the container fort after watching your videos :)
if i am on drucker, should i just move to a new location? i have the option to go to cascade hills or meagher valley
I love driving by road
Surviving in Arizona nice
I know this is about drucker co. But i gotta ask! At 0.28 we get a glimpse of the beek keeper's yard. I have never seen lattice over those bee hives! Anyone know when they were added [or removed]?
I'll have to take a closer look.
Youd think the toughest map would have an amazing base centrally located
You'd think the bases would just be good in general. Most of the bases are just worst than a similarly sized base in other regions.
Should i stay in this map after spending about 10 days or should i move to an easier map and start another community, i agree with the fact that the map is kinda depressing and hard to move around :P
I hate that map. I'd leave ASAP.
