Nice video, I couldn’t agree more, highly underrated car, enjoy. I had a 2019 S4 Daytona Grey, fully Optioned, Carbon, Black Package, Upgraded B and O sound, sports Exhaust, 360 degree camera, adaptive cruise control, Spots diff etc. I then put Carbon Shift Paddles and Changed the Badging to Black. It was hot, I couldn’t bring it to Europe, so I Sold it back to Audi, apparently the new owner loves it. The one thing the hardest setting on the suspension was just a bit hard, easily solved change the setting.
Just got a 2020 in quantum gray black optics, absolutely beautiful and i love it. Yes this car takes off! I’ll be cruising in comfort hit the gas and all the sudden be going 90 in a 45.
That last comment you made at the end of the video really hit home. I’m a huge Japanese car fan and after 10 years of saving up finally bought my dream car, GT-R. After driving it around for a month I’ve unfortunately came to the realization that the vehicle is just generally uncomfortable. I’m to big for the drivers seat, the transmission is harsh, and the ride quality is stiff as a board. I’m now looking at the S4, 340i, or amg 43
From talking to people (just bought one), the S4 has actually been very reliable with the B9 engine. I think the AMG 43 was sportier, but the S4 is overall the better pick for the every day driver. Good luck!
Funny you should mention that now. I am embarrassed to say I figured that out last weekend when out for a cruise. Pretty useful while keeping your hands and eyes on the wheel/road.
Actually, this is not entirely correct. This button is programmable for multiple functions, INCLUDING Drive Select. It can only be set for one function at a time. All the other ‘shortcut’ options are pretty useless, and if you sit with your seat further back, this is much better than reaching forward for the drive select on the centre console. Occasionally it doesn’t work, and you have to go back into the settings and reassign the button and then it will work again.
I took delivery yesterday. What an amazing car!! I love it!! I got red interior and black optic package. Unfortunately no virtual cockpit or heads up display. Everything else is there.
Congrats! Enjoy the car! Wish I had the black optic package myself, the chrome is starting to get to me. I am having the car wrapped and getting the chrome delete so that will take care of that. What is the exterior color?
metalslug26 do you regret not getting the audi virtual cockpit? i’m in the same boat and most models don’t have it in toronto? would you have spent the extra money if you could go back in time
Thank you! Appreciate the support! Gotta represent MA on TH-cam haha! Can't wait to share this car/build with everyone! Got tons planned this year. Hope you enjoy!
yeah I was thinking at least 375hp... I don't know what to do.. RS3, S4 or M2.. I've owned a couple of Subaru's. The STI was fun, but most definitely flawed. I'm leaning towards the Audi's since it snows where I live.
I've had many Subaru's, and while fun, it can get boring due to the cars being repetitive. I had issues with my S4, I discuss in later videos. Power is great, size and comfort are amazing. Depends on what type of car you are looking for. AWD in bad weather is amazing. The RS3 is AMAZING from what I hear. Very easy to make tons of power and still has AWD and reliable. RS3 is just not as big as the S4.
@@NEMotoGuy oh agreed man... The JDM side of the Market has gotten stale. At Least in that segment. The Supra is going to sell well, I think it's a sexy looking car, and that motor is solid. That's what got me looking at the M2.
haha, you need to say that when you are not driving when showing display feature, for a split second I was worried that your Check Engine light is on :-)
Haha god no please! Yea, I didn't think about that when making the video. No check engine issues...yet lol. We shall see what happens when APR releases their B9 tune and I get one :)
I bought the Audi S4 right after I sold my STI. Had it for less than a year and returned it back to Audi as it was a terrible lemon. Otherwise I LOVED the S4, it was such a refined car, when it worked lol. Currently have the Supra, and Subaru Crosstrek. I am itching to add another car to the stable, but I am trying to wait until later this year or next year when the New WRX STI comes out, or potentially just adding another sports couple (400Z). I might have to put a poll on social media and get some help deciding haha.
The virtual cockpit does display google maps standard. To utilize the google earth detailed view function you need to go into the settings and toggle it on. You also have to subscribe to the “Audi Connect” service to use the earth feature.
Update to my previous response: Google Map/Earth are available through Audi Connect subscription. First six months are free when purchasing new Audi vehicle. The standard navigation is very similar to google maps in looks, usability, interface excluding google speech function. To use google maps without Audi Connect you will need to plug in your smartphone and use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and use individual data plan to use Google Map/Earth function on the MMI interface. I have not tested whether the Smartphone interface will allow Google Earth function onto the virtual cockpit as well. Hope this helps, sorry for any confusion.
Yes, mine comes with the S sport package, which is basically the sports differential, and red brake calipers really. From my understanding the sports diff is just most durable and some say it does have better feedback when delivering power/torque to the wheels. Ride comfort/handling there really is no difference. Comfort/Dynamic modes would change up the ride quality. Technically I haven’t used the car to the full potential yet to see how well the sports diff comes into play...but this summer I will when I’m going on rally runs, and will be able to give a better opinion then.
Interesting is it really that much stiffer? I am coming from a long line of WRX/STI models that were pretty stiff. So the 2018 S4 even in dynamic mode is pretty comfortable.
NEMotoGuy Mine without the S Sports Package has been driving killer. I actually can't imagine a better drive ... so I can only imagine with that package. Also enjoying the tech immensely. Very fast far indeed.
also what about the classic view? instead of the sports view? I like the classic view better, I have the same car.. best car ever had.. why anyone would want the RS4 over this for another 25k approx more.. just re map it later ... have you tried the classic view yet?
I have used the classic view. I do like it, however I personally feel that it's a little less sporty in this view. The main "S" view with the tach right in the center give it a nice sporty view, which I like better. But I will say I think it is really nice to have the option to change between both views very easily. I wish we got the RS4 here in my opinion, I would love an RS4 Avant. Aside from that, it's really just the name/VIN of the RS models. The interior is practically the same, and the motor is different, but with a tune I agree the "S' models are just as fast if not faster.
@@NEMotoGuy yeah sure it's a personal opinion and soon I may switch to the sport view again for a different feel, really is such a great car, enjoy and congratulations on your car.. so quick and it's a keeper...
I did not consider the sportback. I did think about the S5 coupe version though. The reason why is because honestly I don't even get the concept of the S5 sportback. It's basically the S4 but more expensive...in my opinion. Very subtle stylistic differences between the S4 and the S5 sportback. Everything else is really the same, as far as power, interior, etc...So I don't see a reason to pay at least $5K more for just the S5 badge. Again, this is my opinion.
$0 down I think you can get somewhere around $500-$550 depending on credit score lease length, mileage, and where you live. Before you get into an S4, I suggest waiting for my next video to go live if you are interested in hearing my negative experience with this car. I have dreaded making the video, but no one seems to have a video explaining potential problems.Just want people to see all sides.
NEMotoGuy mind me asking where you live? If for some reason it’s close, I may consider going a little outside my town to purchase it. I’m in Richmond, VA. Looking forward to your cons review. Thanks!

Guys I know times have changed since covid/parts shortage but now things here in the UK are easing up, money here is a bit different to that in the USA but my current car 2011 A3 black edition 2.0 tdi now on 2011 got it in 2015 on 35k mileage for 13000 pounds, so Now im looking at an S4 wouldn't say I am a real petrol head or maybe don't have the ability to appeciate like you guys the speed and torque and looks and refinement of the S4 I've got a desposit down for a S4 2018 with 40k mileage for a whopping 25k that's a lot for me but part of me begrudges the fact I am giving over a lot of money for a 6 year old car which means after just 3/4 years it will be coming up to 10 years old yes they hold their value here to some extent, but prices have dropped 10 percent in the last 4 months. What do you think maybe just wait it out another month or 2 or get something more normal A4 Sline maybe?
The seats are very comfortable. The side bolsters and back can be adjusted for better support and comfort. The quilted leather is very soft and supportive. The front seats also come with massage functions that work surprisingly well. I went on a three day rally and drove about 1,000 miles and had no issues for myself or copilot.
NEMotoGuy that’s great! thanks a lot for the info. i’m in between this and a 2016 M3 for a sporty daily driver but comfort is a little more important to me than performance so the S4 seems like a good choice
No problem, glad to help! The seats are comfy, but don't get me wrong they can very quickly be adjusted to grip you in real tight like "bucket" seats, without the discomfort. Definitely recommend sitting in both the M3 and the S4 and see which you can live with more.
Huge difference between a true luxury sports sedan and a econobox sports sedan. The Audi is so much more refined so you don't realize how fast your going. The WRX is quick but feels cheap so all that noise and vibration lets you know how fast your going
So if there is one thing I wish I did was try harder to find this model in prestige. I think the higher comfort with more insulation is worth it in this car. Not that the premium plus is terrible. Personally if you can afford it and want the better powertrain, with more power/etc I would say go with the S4.
I would say little to no difference between the 2018-2019 model years. The refresh was in the 2020 model year with upgraded interior/exterior/infotainment really.
To add to my previous response: I wish I went with the prestige package. I would have liked the adjustable ambient lighting. It's something small, but I can't tell you how many times I thought about that when driving the car.
Congrats! This car is incredibly fast. I can also assure you, it is highly underrated from the factory. The stated 354HP/369TQ can't be accurate. It feels closer to 400/400 stock. Aside from power, it is just an incredible luxury vehicle.
NEMotoGuy measured on rolling road, so assume at wheels, but I’m no expert. I’m on 7000 miles in this car. Every day, it’s so much fun and puts a smile on my face every time. Going to try and get it to the drag strip for 1/4 mile run soon... PS: have you tried ‘launch control’???

I had compared a couple features strictly because I was coming from multiple WRX/STI cars prior to getting the S4. This video was more so to point out features I loved because they were completely new to me coming from Subaru models. I agree they are completely different vehicles.
@@NEMotoGuy I get it. I'm considering an RS3 at the moment solely because BMW dealership near me is absolutely the scum of the earth and I'll never go back there. Currently in a 335i but M cars don't do it for me anymore. I like the 5 cyl. I had bad luck with my last Audi though so we'll see.
I have a few buddies that have RS3’s stock to modded. These motors take mods very well while being safe and reliable. This is my first Audi, and I have to say for the time being avoid the B9 S4 platform. Motor seems very reliable, but I have had other numerous non stop issues since day one. Have a current issue that has been ongoing for months now and Audi has been unable to fix on six occasions. Unfortunately, I can’t release more details yet. Once I am able I have a couple videos ready to upload explaining everything.
@@NEMotoGuy No way that sucks man. I'm about to throw in the towel and buy an accord sport with a stick lol. I had a B7 S4 and that V6 was a NIGHTMARE. Turbos melted cats... 4k job engine pull. My 335i has been rock solid but 135k still runs great but is a bit tired.
I also traded my 2017 STI for my 2019 premium plus S4 black ops. I like the paddle shifter but miss the manual. My Cobb exhaust was music to the ears and the ability to hit corners so hard was very fun. I think I’m less likely to get a ticket in the S4, it has somehow calmed me down.
Agreed, the S4 was much more under the radar. Loved the car when it worked. Great car, but like you mentioned I do miss the handling and cornering capabilities and using the 6-speed in the STI.
@@12tribes61 Unfortunately it ended up being a lemon. Clunking/creaking when accelerating and coming to a stop or braking the vehicle. Went into the Audi dealer about seven different times over 6+ months in the first year of ownership. They could not figure out the problem or fix it.
Personally I would lease this vehicle. For a few reasons: This is my first German car, and I am not sure what to expect in high mileage. Through my research I have found that German cars tend to have certain issues around varying mileages. Also, as this is technically the first generation of the B9 S4 platform received in the States, there is more of a chance to come across issues. My model was built towards the end of the 2018 cycle, so any issues found to date have been addressed from factory. That is why I leased this vehicle, for now, to make sure if anything goes wrong it will be fixed and covered under warranty. Aside from these couple things to note, the car is amazing, and I highly recommend you test drive one if you are in the market for one. I was sold after my first full length test drive. I will be doing another video covering some things I don't like about this vehicle, minor, as well as a full review in the next coming weeks.
Congratulations on the S4! And thank you for replying back, also I can't wait for the review. Ohh and btw why didn't you go for the rs3 instead? I'm just curious
Thank you! No problem, glad to help. I checked out an RS3 in the same Daytona Gray. It was nice, but the interior felt a bit cramped to me. And I absolutely love the V6 motor that comes in the S4, sound, quality and performance. I also could not justifty paying $78K for basically an S3 with a different motor and only get 400HP (on paper). The S4 with the new turbo (hot V configuration) can produce amazing numbers with just a simple ECU tune. The interior of the S4 and feel/space of the cabin was so much more comfortable, yet sporty. Also not to mention costing me almost $25K less than the RS3. Don't get me wrong, RS3 is a great car, but the pricing is just ridiculous right now.
Are you able to jump into a 2019 or 2020 S4/S5? Maybe consider the newer ones as I’m sure most of these first gen kinks are worked out. Great car overall, and very all around nice daily.
Overall I would say the Audi seems pretty reliable. This is my first Audi/VW vehicle so I’m going to have a better idea of the overall quality. I’ve definitely had a good number of issues with this car within 4,500 miles of ownership, and still continue to have a couple issues as well. Car is currently at the dealership, for two days now, getting warranty work done. I’ll definitely be doing a one year overall review when that time comes.
I am about 5'10". There is plenty of space behind my seat for someone my height or taller. My father has sat behind me and he is about 6'1" no problem. The camera angle might be a little deceptive. Test drive one and set the seat to your liking and see what you think.
@@RsPippen Hey, I made a video explaining the full issue I had, but to sum it up. The car went back and forth to the dealership about seven times to address a thunk/clunk in the underside of the car when accelerating and braking. They were unable to diagnose and fix the issue each time. To this day I still don't know what the solution or problem was, but I was uncomfortable driving the car for safety reasons. After a total of six months sitting at the dealership to have it fixed it was returned as a lemon.
The car was parked and the engine was not on. When the ignition is in the "On" position all the dash lights stay on, including the check engine. Everything was normal, no issues.
Yes, I actually really do like this car. It has so much power/performance, and luxury/refinement. Absolutely happy with this car. I will have a video on some things I don't like up in a couple days if you are interested in hearing my thoughts.

Personally if you can afford it and want the better powertrain, with more power/etc I would say go with the S4.
Any significant difference between 2018 model and 2019 model in the market to buy one
I would say little to no difference between the 2018-2019 model years. The refresh was in the 2020 model year with upgraded interior/exterior/infotainment really.
does it have ambient lightening?
It does, but it is non adjustable. The prestige has the customizable lighting package and the premium plus does not.
To add to my previous response: I wish I went with the prestige package. I would have liked the adjustable ambient lighting. It's something small, but I can't tell you how many times I thought about that when driving the car.
Great review! I own a 02 A4 and will soon upgrade to this S4. I am so excited to feel the powerrrrrr
Congrats! This car is incredibly fast. I can also assure you, it is highly underrated from the factory. The stated 354HP/369TQ can't be accurate. It feels closer to 400/400 stock. Aside from power, it is just an incredible luxury vehicle.
that's great! Oh and btw I subbed, looking forward to see your future mods :D
Appreciate the support! Can't wait to share all the plans with everyone! SOON!!! :)
Love my S4 B9 too. Piggy back tuned by DTUK to 410BhP. 0-60 3.85 secs. Feels Unreal to me.
Holy moly thats FAST! Is that crank hp or to the wheels??
NEMotoGuy measured on rolling road, so assume at wheels, but I’m no expert.
I’m on 7000 miles in this car. Every day, it’s so much fun and puts a smile on my face every time.
Going to try and get it to the drag strip for 1/4 mile run soon...
PS: have you tried ‘launch control’???
What map setting do you have it on? I got mine on Sport +1 and I also have the Pedalbox which is allot of fun as well
Nice car more tec than You can shake a stick at 😂 I own a Audi mk2 TTs S Tronic.Had it 12 months love it.🏁🍻 Just Had a REVO map on mine 330BHP 440NM Torque.Your correct about how quick these cars get to speed and you don’t really notice it.
Why the constant comparison to an STI? They couldn't be more different.
What’s your Msrp? Also, what’s your lease?
Might be the worst msrp and lease ever, so I don’t think you’d be interested.
It’s $579 to lease 0 down
Danny solomon where can you get that? I live in Richmond Va and they want way too much
I also traded my 2017 STI for my 2019 premium plus S4 black ops.
Great car, but like you mentioned I do miss the handling and cornering capabilities and using the 6-speed in the STI.
do you think the trades worth it? i got a 21 sti and im also thinking of getting a s4 or s5 sportback or maybe a c43 coupe or bmw m440i xdrive
@@NEMotoGuywhat’s wrong with your S4 it stopped working?
@@12tribes61 Unfortunately it ended up being a lemon. Clunking/creaking when accelerating and coming to a stop or braking the vehicle. Went into the Audi dealer about seven different times over 6+ months in the first year of ownership. They could not figure out the problem or fix it.
@@NEMotoGuy how many miles did it have on it?
I want this
Would you lease or finance one of these and which one did you go with?
Debating between this and an S5 from 2018 or an A7 2016 :(
Are you able to jump into a 2019 or 2020 S4/S5? Maybe consider the newer ones as I’m sure most of these first gen kinks are worked out. Great car overall, and very all around nice daily.
@@NEMotoGuy I can test drive one I'm just barely 21 so I've never test drove a car. The digital dash and the seats is what does it for me
I wonder what the reliability is on the Audi S4. I've heard mixed reviews on that. People say a lot of negative things about VW.
How tall are you? It looks like your seat is touching the back seat.
I am about 5'10". There is plenty of space behind my seat for someone my height or taller. My father has sat behind me and he is about 6'1" no problem. The camera angle might be a little deceptive. Test drive one and set the seat to your liking and see what you think.
Its 2020 hows the car?
Unfortunately the car was deemed a lemon less than one year of ownership :(
@@NEMotoGuy can you expand on that? What happened? I’ve been looking at buying a used 2018 s4
You forgot the e-brake on and check engine light is on
The car was parked and the engine was not on. When the ignition is in the "On" position all the dash lights stay on, including the check engine. Everything was normal, no issues.
Hater
You forgot to have relevance in life
do you like the car?
Yes, I actually really do like this car. It has so much power/performance, and luxury/refinement. Absolutely happy with this car. I will have a video on some things I don't like up in a couple days if you are interested in hearing my thoughts.
Car lit
God bless BlackBerry to make virtual cockpit for Audi
why is the redline so low?
It's a single big turbo V6 motor. It wasn't made to ring out to 8K+. It's a very torque-y motor at low RPM so it doesn't need to rev too high.
Oh shit, we had the same car
Hope yours had better luck than mine.
MASSIVE
haha indeed it is
Sound???? 😭Sounds like 2.0 4cyl
Umm maybe listen again? It’s a turbo V6 and actually sounds like a mean V8 sometimes.
@@NEMotoGuy it sounds like a 4cyl
@@kenfroment1943 Ohhh, didn't realize you were hard of hearing, my bad.
Stock exaust? I listen to videos of cars with custom exhaust en a 4cyl, 5cyl with custom exhaust sounds a lot louder😉
