      I think so too. Just beautiful and perfectly balanced Design. Not too boring but also not over the top. Sporty but also elegant. Only thing I don't like is the silver color :D

      I should have clarified that I did mean the Sportback. The coupe is good too but not as good as the Sportback.
      In terms of colour, I quite like the Nardo Grey, but I’m never good with colour though.

    I've admired A5s for many years and last year I was looking for an AWD sports car and bought a convertible 2018 S5. I LOVE that car! Power when you need it, great tech, and beautiful looks. A couple issues covered by warranty- a window regulator and burnt out light on the start button. Otherwise no issues. Great on fuel with highway driving, but if you drive fast on regular streets it can use fuel fast. Highly recommended if you need a small performance car.

    I have a 2018 S5 Sportback and I absolutely LOVE it! I have the drive mode set to "Individual" with transmission and engine in "dynamic". I have found that the suspension and steering in dynamic is just too harsh. To fix that, I have them set in "auto" mode. When the car "senses" it's being driven hard it automatically puts the steering and suspension in "dynamic". For cruising around town though, the steering and suspension is a lot more mild in "auto". I think it's in "comfort" until you mash it. Also, in "dynamic", if you select "sport" mode, the car opens up the exhaust valves and really makes some great noises on acceleration at WOT. However, in "dynamic/sport" mode, it will only shift up to 7th gear. So, if you're just cruising on the interstate, take it out of "sport" mode to get 8th gear and optimum fuel economy. I have gotten close to 400 miles on a full tank on the interstate. Love this car.

    Same here in NZ, those turbocharged or supercharged Audis get upto the limit so quickly you almost feel like you are overshooting and never fully able to use the full potential. Driving a b8/8.5 RS5 gives the best of both worlds I feel since you work hard for the power through high rpm if you want rapid, but slower work can also feel just as dramatic since the V8 provides such a great soundtrack for all driving styles.

Your comment about the anti-pinch windows is bang on.... after installing tint the 'drag' on the pristine tint was enough to cause it to be overly sensitive.. it has become better as the tint get's "dirtier" with oils and whatnot, to allow it to slide better.

    I have a 2018 s5 sportback and you nailed it. If you're in it for performance, don't bother with an RS... Spend your money on a tune and a couple other upgrades (intercooler/intake/downpipe) and you'll be destroying RSes and most other cars on the road, certainly ones in this price range. My favorite part, which you touched on, is at the touch of a button you can go from a comfortable highway cruiser to a shit-your-pants rocket ship. I have the 034 motorsports stage 1 tune...using the e85 version of the tune is next level. (they're supposed to have a high octane tune for the non Americans soon, which should be similar numbers)

    Yes, rattles coming from rear parcel shelf and front speaker grille even with the Bang and Olufsen upgrade only when listening to AM radio. Went to stereo shop had added extra dampening and glue got it sorted. The non touch screen MMI is a pain, escpecially considereing my cheaper other car has a touch screen MMI. Brake dust is an issue with the softer pads. Next service 30K is new pads and rotors. But the performance is scintillating. The tech in it as standard, other cars only now are catching up to this car. Get around 9lt per 100kms. Gets driven fairly enthusiactically, a joy to drive and experience

      How quick is it compared to the RS5? And how much does it cost to get a decent tune running on it? I personally like the styling of the S5 a lot more than the RS model. I think the S5 just has that really clean silhouette, it's like an attractive athlete who dressed themselves up in a suit for the presentation. What do you think of it in a daily drivers perspective? Also, is the comfort mode really as it is? Like actually comfortable, because that's sounds amazing. From what I hear the Audi's ride a lot smoother than the 2 other German counterparts.

    Another great presentation Adam. You are such a well rounded guy, having big manly hands but smooth soft baby skin…..lol. The off takes were nice to see because anyone saying all the letters and numbers would have difficulty, a true tongue twister. Fred

    • @ReDriven
      @ReDriven  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahahaha cheers Fred. It takes hours to keep the hands manly yet the forearms smooth!
      The time it takes varies on the car. For example, anything with loads of variants that has been around forever (eg Amarok) takes days to research and write as we reach out to loads of mechanics, technicians, parts suppliers, owners groups and owners in general, plus we read through reliability reports and consumer satisfaction surveys and online forums to gather the information. I write the script as the info comes in and try to get as much seat time as possible to gather the driving impressions and this varies on every car.
      The filming itself takes about a day and then Sam gets into editing, again which takes a few hours.
      So, something that has one variant and was only available for a short period of time, approx 3 days in total, something like the Amarok, approx 5 days. - AK

    Guys as an Aussie now living in Europe… let me say Audi Australian arm is really sticking it to every Audi owner! I had an A3 back in Oz and Audi dealership ripped me blind for service costs.
    In Europe it’s not only cheaper to buy an Audi but the parts and service costs are only 1/3 of the costs in Australia!
    Australian Audi owners are being ripped off big time when compared to Europe.
    Plus for all Audi cars especially high performance models you must change the oil and filter every 6 months or 5k to 6k kilometers.
    Don’t leave it to 10k it’s way too long of a service interval… I can tell you that doing this will help your engine last for thousands of kilometers and many years of stunning motoring enjoyment!

    I bought a used 2017 and have had it 2 years. I absolutely love it. I've done around 15k miles in it and it's currently sat at 40k miles and It's just been for its service. The only issue I have is in the UK, when the temp drops below 0, the windows don't drop when you open the doors as the mechanism is frozen. If you do and then close the door, the window is then bent when it's shut and doesn't sit into the top of the door. I have to use my wife's car haha. Other than that, this is hands down the best car I've ever owned. I get bored easily with cars but I'm far from bored with this

    Absolutely love this car. 2020 B9 S5. Can highly recommend the add-on package for the heads up display and the B&O sound system. The in-built massage chairs are so weak though that you barely feel it at all. Driving experience wise, I feel it nails the performance vs everyday drive balance as good as any car out there. A small gripe with Audi - The S-badge/4 ring door lights should be standard on S-models! Bit of a money grab to sell these as an official aftermarket part.

    They look a lot better in the flesh than in photos, and are well made all round with great performance and handling. However, the s5 really leaves you cold if you are looking for an engaging drive. It’s really the antithesis of a driver’s car: all the right stats on paper, but the experience is one of driving a sales rep car. Polished, well made and good value - but none of the driving engagement which made Audis of ten years ago or more so legendary.

      Completely agree. Almost went for a 440i gran coupe 2019 model instead of a 2018 s5 sportback for this very reason. The 440i felt much more engaging and fun to drive, but the daily aspect of useable power in the s5 and better tech won me over
      If I was faced with the same scenario right now then I’d pick the m440i gran coupe over the new s5 tdi, but for what I was looking for the s5 ticked more boxes than the old gen 4 series

    That aside it's been a great car the previous model (Diesel S5 cab) was probably a TINY bit better but it's not like they could have improved it much more anyway.

  • @Screaming-Trees
    @Screaming-Trees ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a great car. I think if you can get the S5 TDI version get that. It's just as quick as the petrol variant and will come with a lifetime warranty on all of the diesel parts of the car. Because of diesel gate, here in the US we have pretty much everything diesel on our car replaced for free. Audi replaced the DPF filter a couple of years ago free of charge and this year one of the glow plugs gave in and they replaced that free of charge as well. Combined this would have cost about $5000 ($500 for the glow plugs issue). But because of dieselgate warranties it's free.

    Great video and hi from the UK. Have owned a Navarra Blue B9 S4 from new since 2018. Sorry to say the speakers do also rattle on the optional B&O sound system, predominantly from the centre but also the woofers in the door cards in both the front and rear, along with the subwoofer on the rear parcel shelf. Audi UK have unsuccessfully attempted on a couple of occasions to rectify under warranty but I think it's still a problem for them. Most of the time I have the radio turned down to listen to that engine note though :) The other annoying rattle is the passenger seatbelt (when the front passenger seat isn't occupied), creates a knocking noise against the framing of the Super Sport Seats. Applying some self-adhesive felt to the buckle should fix this (bit of an oversight in the design though). Overall though, I absolutely love my S4 and it'll take something special (and as affordable) to beat it. Test drove the etron GT recently, astonishing car, but big money that prices me out of one.
