    It's so interesting to notice that handmade items, especially crocheted ones, are obviously not only in higher demand over there, but also much more appreciated and valued.
    I'm from Germany and it's insane how people are willing to spend 20 Euro on something to eat and drink quite happily, while they consider a crocheted plushie or amigurumi not to be worth the same amount. God forbid the price was higher - they looked as if their brain was about to implode lol
    It was so frustrating that I quit selling my stuff a few years ago.
    But I wish you much success on your crochet journey!

    Great video! 😊 I don’t know if anyone has ever mentioned this, but have you thought about selling at a comic convention? If you made pop culture-themed plushies (like Marvel characters, anime, etc.) they might be really popular! At comic conventions I’ve been to, I’ve noticed crochet makers selling their stuff. I don’t know what the nerdy scene is like in Tampa or if there are conventions like that local to you, but it might be something cool to look into in the future!

    Hi, Katie! I love your videos and was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions I had about selling crocheted items at markets, as I am interested in doing the same someday! No worries if you can't answer, I thought I might as well try asking. Ty!
    How long have you been selling at markets?
    How do you find markets to sell at?
    How much time is in between each market you sell at?
    How many days a week/ hours a day do you crochet?
    How much prep work is there not including crocheting for the markets?
    When do you decide to stop selling an item? / How many markets would an item go to without selling before you decide to stop selling it?

That’s been my absolute favorite of all of your plushies (though the triceratops is a close second!) and I’m just a big fan of ducks in general. I’ve been wanting to make a big mallard style one for myself but that floaty one was soooo stinking cute! Haha. I was cheering to hear it sold. Though I admit I was getting close to shooting you a message to ask if I could but him. 😂

      Hi! So glad you enjoy my channel and best of luck to you with your channel! My Etsy is actually only digital products because I never had much success with selling physical products online. However if I was to do that, I would have my shop set to at least a 3-5 day window for shipping items that way if something does sell at a market and on Etsy at the same time there would be time to remake it 🥰

    Katie, good job on your market sales! This video was very informative. I do have a question though. You mentioned that you subtracted sales tax, Square fees, and the table fee to get the $1,176 revenue figure for that market day. But don't you have to also subtract the supplies you used for those items sold (yarn, safety eyes, stuffing, etc.) in order to get a true net revenue number for the market? It would be really interesting to know what the true profit was for the day.

    • @katiebeingcreative
      @katiebeingcreative  ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally! All of that isn’t just profit. The only reason I don’t calculate all the other expenses is because it would be almost impossible, a lot of the yarns I have I bought so long ago or my parents bought for me before I started crocheting as a business, so I have no way of knowing what the cost was for those. And for stuffing and how much yarn I used for each project I would have to weight it and I’m honestly just too lazy, I like to sit on the couch with my yarn and not have to get up 😂

    I have a question (not a critique) about your pricing. I think it was your last market, you said your claw machine wasn’t super popular because the price was the same as the keychains and people wanted to choose their item when it was the same price. Did you consider changing your price for the claw machine? Also, how come your bigger octos and your smaller octos are the same price? Do you find the bigger ones sell more when they’re priced the same as the small?

    How do you decide what to price items? I never know how to price my stuff and my husband always says I’m under charging.. I want to make money on it but I want to be fair.. and I want people to buy them.. I’m afraid if I price it too high my stuff won’t sell and I won’t make any money.
