  • The Einstar is becoming one our favorite 3D scanners on the market with a wide range of capability at an affordable price. Today Rob and Eric Lau show you how to 3D scan faces and bodies with the Einstar.

    Shining 3D has finally done it. A truly powerful $959 prosumer 3D scanner that we can definitely say is the new benchmark. The Einstar brings Shining 3D's professional expertise to the prosumer sector, combining highly accurate cameras and sensors with industrial grade software. That's right, Shining 3D took some of our favorite EXScan features seen in the Pro HD, HX, and H versions and made them available for those looking to dip their feet into the waters of 3D scanning and reverse engineering.
    So how does the Einstar stack up against other affordable scanners like the Revopoint Pop and Creality CR-Scan? Let us know in the comments if you would like us to do a head to head comparison.

    Personally I'm more interested in getting an accurate scan than a fast scan. Would be nice to see some scanning done on hard surface objects and perhaps compare the scan data to a CAD model.

      well if that guy stayed in a specific scanning spot a few seconds longer, had better lighting, and not paced around so fast, he could get an accurate, and significantly detailed scan with this product.

    Hello. I'm going to make wide body kits on cars. For beginning I need budget scanner. Einstar seems best of all budget scanners, but I'm curious how precise will be scanned data to build wide body kit on it. Did anyone tested Einstar on cars?

    • @VisionMiner
      @VisionMiner  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, like say -- it's a consumer scanner, not professional, so if you need extreme accuracy, it's not the best option --- but for something like a body kit, if you're on a budget, I would say you could get away with it! :)

    I need to scan boats to draw up and fit sea-deck foam flooring panels.
    Would this be a good scanner for that?

    I am more interested in scanning parts. Would be great if you could scan the porsche part also with the Einstar and compare the result side by side with HD/H/HX.

    I tested one for a week. Good for big parts but not so good below 15cm. I think scanning humans, furnitures, faces, limbs or other organic things it’s pretty good.
    Scanned a car trunk as well really good. But a PS4 controller or a battery pack for a drill was rough.
    A nice scanner with good software if it fits your application.

    • @kongyiu
      @kongyiu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can scan smaller objects just fine. I use a tripod and a manual turntable. It’s not as easy as a Einscan SP because you have to turn the objects yourself, but the result is almost the same.

    • @Todestelzer
      @Todestelzer ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kongyiu using a turntable and a tripod for the scanner gave me really bad scans. I got horizontal lines in the scans. Not usable.
      The scans from the sp are way better in accuracy as well. The Einstar is only good for bigger parts in my opinion and with my tests (had the Einstar for 1 week).

    • @kongyiu
      @kongyiu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Todestelzer that’s strange. I dont have this issue. I must say it takes more time to scan smaller objects with the Einstar. Maybe it depend on the shape of the object. Hope they will improve the scan with software upgrades because it should scan smaller objects as advertized.

    • @Shinobubu
      @Shinobubu ปีที่แล้ว

      stop trying to scan black objects. you need to pre process those with scanning spray (Vanishing spray)

    • @Todestelzer
      @Todestelzer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shinobubu no one mentioned to scan black parts without scanning spray.
      But the Einstar can scan dark objects pretty good.
      I may buy the scanner sometime in the future again because it's really good for bigger parts.

      We're comparing it with the Revopoint Mini soon! Doesn't perform exactly like the Pop 2 but it should show what exactly the Einstar was designed to address.

    Great video. but few moments ago I was watcthing you scanning boards and electronic components. As I am interested in buying a Shining 3D Eintar to scanner printed boards lijke you, I would ask you to make a video demonstrating the capabilities of Einstar scanning small and large motherboards (like notebook motherboard and all your parts).
    Thank you for the video and I look forward to the review I requested.

    I don't get this urge to do complex 3D body scans under a minute. This is a consumer version of the scanner, why not keep scanning for 5 or 10 minutes and show us the BEST quality you can get. Your 60 seconds scan is crap. I want to see 5 minute head scan! Have your assistant go under your chin and other areas that were not covered properly. Stop rushing these scans.
