When I saw that the first time, I thought Bi Han was going to kill Kui Liang. Just that whole chapter in general, I thought smoke or scorpion was a goner
Your comment gave me a good chuckle 😅 I was so excited, I thought the movie got released on June 26th and not July 26th 😂 I was so sad I went and saw the new Quiet Place movie (it suuuuucked)@Steven_McCrae
The animators didn't have to do that. They could have used his cryomancy as an excuse but they actually animated the knife switch. I didn't even notice it until now. Incredible.
Exactly what I was thinking, he didn’t even have to do it cause he could make another one in his other hand. But maybe it takes a quick second to fully form or scorpion could have heard it forming. Also how to show how talented Bi Han is, can’t wait to see the rematch with him being noob saibot
While yes, Bi-Han is a cryomancer, he's still a trained assassin and martial artist at the end of the day, and that scene proved both his capabilities.
With that pause that gave Scorpion time to be surprised, it made me imagine Sub zero just smiling and laughing instead of attacking with his other hand
@@Ender11037 yeah well beating an armed gunman while unarmed is also technically possible, don't think anyone will believe you when you tell them they had that horrendous accuracy though
Damn, for a minute there, I thought Bi-Han just created a new knife in his other hand when Kuai Liang wasn’t looking! I didn’t even notice the switch at first!
Its almost similar to conditioning in fighting games, where you keep repeating a specific attack pattern and as soon as an opportunity arises, you do a mixup, essentially conditioning an enemy in reacting to something in a specific way and doing something else. Like doing crouching/standing combos and throwing in an overhead attack when he's crouching, essentially getting a free hit/combo
Easily one of the most hype badass scenes out of the whole story. Literally got chills seeing it the first time especially cuz I was wondering how kuai liang was going to end up getting his scar back
How weird, I never noticed it was a actual knife switch in the game, I just thought subzero made it disappear and just conjured another one but but he legit hand to hand passes it, pretty cool
MK1, an awesome game with awesome enjoyable story, and awesome action sequences. Also, Kuai Liang proves to be a formidable Scorpion, and Bi Han is quite a cool villain; no pun intended, btw.
Also in this switch he doesn't toss it, he makes sure he has it in his left hand before letting go with the right hand. One of the best switches I've seen.
Another cool detail is that scorpion couldn't properly see if the knife really in his right hand because sub zero launched his attack from the sun side and sunlight blocked the view
Something else that I think is cool is I don’t think this move was improvised. I think he went into the fight and repeated to same move to teach scorpion “look, this is where the knife is, and this is how I attack with it” so that scorpion gets a false sense of security. Scorpion says to himself “okay, that’s where the knife is and this is how he uses it. I know how to keep myself self.” (As an added side note I’m pretty sure there’s a term for this in fighting games but I don’t remember it)
I wonder if there will ever be a movie or any media that has knife flicking. I'm pretty sure the only time I saw that was some American solder in "Fighter of the wind"
@@ScenicFights I wasnt paying the most attention but from what I gather its about some korean guy in Japan and him learning Kyokushin Karate. I found it from some eminem edit, or mmv?
@@anonymouss1270If I understand what you mean by knife flicking, there is a scene is where John Wick does some knife flicking. I think it’s the Second John wick movie but don’t quote me on that
@@animeanime7849 The knife flicking I am talking about is the one that Logan explained a few times in a few different breakdowns, idk which ones. I think John Wick 2 would be the one cause iirc its the only movie with a knife fight, no JW3 doesnt count because those are throwing knives.
Also in the scene. Bi han also has the advantage because when he launch into a jump attack Kuai Liang got blinded by the sun that's why he didn't notice that there's no knife in Bi han's right arm.
I feel that from a logical perspective, since the switch worked so well that Kuai's face was able to say "oh fuck", Bi han should have gone for a more lethal blow, like maybe something across the abdomen. But obviously for lore reasons he cant, so oh well I guess.
In my mind, "Tundra" was the 🥷 that died and "Bi Han" was the 🥷 that took "Tundra's" mantle as the new "Sub-Zero" and he got the scar - if u get me. i love the face of genuine surprise scorpion has
It was in that moment, Kuai Liang knew he messed up.

Holy, I didn’t even see the switch until Scorpion got slashed; shows how dangerous knife fighting can be! 😭🙏🏽

M1K is near perfection!
Pun intended
Same
This channel is peak as fuck when it comes to learning anime/fictional fighting styles etc
They really are fantastic at doing breakdowns.
I loved this fight scene so much because of that one visible shot of Bi-Han switching hands.
Brilliantly done.
“It appears I have miscalculated.”
-Scorpion probably
The knife switches hands like Bi-Han switches sides.
With that pause that gave Scorpion time to be surprised, it made me imagine Sub zero just smiling and laughing instead of attacking with his other hand
How to win a knife attack with empty hand:-
Run away
(You can't win)
They'll probably talk about it on Viral Hit.
Though I doubt it's impossible.

Wow, I never noticed him switching the knife, I thought he melted the knife and then just created another in his other hand
