It's good, but there was a mistake in Crystal Cave Rampage, Molten Mine wasn't perfect, Great Megalith was terrible, and I got pushed on Dragon's Lair. 29 is possible, but most of that would have to go well.
@alcero2399 You perfect hit her until she dies. No, really though, that's it. The hard part is getting Sonic to stick, and that depends on the angle when you teleport to her. If you follow what I do in this video, Sonic should always stick.
@@Anon7906 oh lol I always time correctly the slash but didn't know depending of the position sonic won't be knocked out so the boss can reach a new phase interesting
hey idk if you'll see this but if u do can i ask how you soul surged here in molten mine 23:01? i cant seem to be able to pull that off for some reason also great run, cool to see other people love this game as well
The game isn't as hard as it looks. The levels are straight lines. What you want to focus on is object placement and the best way to get through stuff. When you unlock Soul Surge, you want to figure out just how many enemies you need to defeat to have enough Soul Gauge to boost for certain parts of a mission. The video isn't perfect, but it's a good starting point if you want to get an idea of most optimal routes. I know i use Lancelot in the latter half of the game, but he might seem harder to use. Lancelot's worse at combat (until he gets that last sword) but gains Soul Gauge from running so you want to avoid fighting as Lancelot unless needed which means you must learn every enemy spawn point. Practice Shrouded Forest/Great Megalith/Dragon's Lair as Sonic first. Once you get good, then use Lancelot. Shrouded Forest and Dragon's Lair are solid, but not perfect in the video. Great Megalith was decent too, but I didn't get the skip. Lancelot's way faster on Dragon Slayer. Sonic should never be used for that mission. Practice the boss battles. The Myst Dragon is RNG so there's not much you can do there except anticipate when it will move its head. The rest aren't impossible to beat quickly most of the time. The video is perfect for King Arthur/Lancelot/Gawain/Percival/King Arthur 2/Dragon Slayer/Dark Queen so there you go. Watch and imitate. If Lancelot and Gawain are blocking the initial homing attack, you aren't timing it properly (although, the timing is very tight). If King Arthur 2 does lightning at the start, it's faster to take the hit. If you can't knock down the column before the dragon in Dragon Slayer pushes you back, you aren't swinging at the right rhythm and you got to the column at the wrong time. If you don't stick to Merlina, either the angle was wrong or you dropped too many perfect hits (or both). Trust me, if I can have the WR in this game then it is very easy because I'm not good at anything else. It just takes practice. Something to keep in mind about practice is that Sonic levels up as he goes. If you want to practice some missions, especially some in the first half of the game, do not let Sonic level up. You want Sonic to be at the correct level for the mission. You can replay a mission upon finishing it with + on the results screen, but don't exit the mission normally by pressing A on the results screen. That will make the game save and level Sonic up. Exit the mission by pausing and leaving or restart the game so he doesn't level up. I had save files for: after beating Lancelot when the two missions in Deep Woods and Camelot Castle open up so I could practice those and the Lancelot fight, after the 1st Titanic Plain mission to practice it an Gawain, before King Arthur 2 so I could practice it and Molten Mine/Crystal Caves, after Knight's Passage , and a finished one to practice Dragon's Lair, Dragon Slayer, and Dark Queen. When you start doing full-game runs, don't restart unless you make a major mistake. Most of your restarts will happen in the 1st half of the game. Keep playing so you can practice playing through the 2nd half.
@@Anon7906 This is all amazing advice, I've just started doing full game runs and currently have a PB of 56:54. I've been practicing a bunch and wanted some advice from the WR holder themself, I wanted to ask you in your discord of the sonic speedrunning discord, but it was all dead ends. Practicing with the correct level seems like it would help a ton. And I see what you mean with "Practice with sonic first" because no matter how much i try, i just DESPISE Lancelot. Sincerely thank you for the advice, if I could ask you one more thing. Is there a way to tell when you can perfect hit Merlina? I know KA2 makes the sword glow, but as far as I can tell it's a guess if you're getting the timing. Also don't discourage yourself like that, having the world record in ANYTHING is a HUGE accomplishment.
You’re the best at this game. You’ve played this lots of times over the years that I’m sure you know this game inside out at this point. 👌
Thx. I sure wish I knew TH-cam inside and out lol.
@@Anon7906 Yeah, when we started out on TH-cam it was all about making whatever content you wanted. Now it’s…well, a much more complicated place. 😅

I know you've taken a break from running, but do you have any tips for a beginner like me?

@@soup7235 You just have to practice Merlina until you get it. The only indicator you have is the perfect hit sound effect.

Are you using actual hardware for this or is this an emulator?
I don't understand how this speed run can be 30 minutes when the video is 50 mins long. Also can I get a ranking for all playable characters?
