it’s pretty insane how fun this game is in general tbh, Secret Rings and Black Knight are my two favourite Sonic games and they definitely don’t deserve the “Sonic 06 2 and 3” reputation they have, I think a lot of it comes from people who played the first levels, saw there was motion controls and called them awful games or people who played them with the idea in their head that they were bad so they couldn’t actually judge them for what they are.
Haha yea if u are willing to level of to max . With max speed and acceleration boost, u start to really feel like sonic but on the other hand the game literally becomes unplayable hah. This is why sonic doesn't move this fast even in its equal game . But I do love the level up system in this one alot
I remember reaching level 99 and noticing the exp bar continued to fill, got it about 1/3rd of the way through before I lost the save, was always curious if it was possible to hit level 100.

Nothing in this video makes sense. The amount of glitches that Sonic pulls off, as well as the strategies that I've never seen before, is something really amazing to watch. I always have Secret Rings on my heart just because it was around my childhood, and I don't care what other people think about this game.
I've considered it, but honestly it is a lot more boring. Once you get fast enough to run past spawning enemies, you realize Black Knight levels are mostly just straight lines with minimal obstacles. Sonic's slower left/right acceleration and nerfed speed break also eliminate a lot of the cooler things you can do in this game. However, if you want a taste of Black Knight, I have another "100% demonstration" on this channel that shows how things can look if you actually fight enemies.
At 21:20 to 24:17 sonic... he straight mopped the floor with UHU's face. For some one called the wind genie he ain't got crap on sonics speed. Also at 49:42 sonic is so powerful he toke down erazor in 2 hits and made him T-pose also how does that work where you can defeat erazor in just 2 hits? I've done it before but it's very rare I've done it like 4 times.
Luckily left/right movement is roughly as precise as a control stick left/right. But then there are things like catapults - I never did actually figure out how to get them to work properly. I'm thankful I was able to skip them all.
@@RingRush well I'm glad I'm not alone in that, I tried my hardest to get a consistent control setup in dolphin to play this casually without motion controls, and it's just those damn catapults
Oh my god, I just HAVE to ask how you've got everything set up-I've been trying to configure Dolphin(I'm assuming that's what you're using) to use TAS and/or USB controllers forever and I still can't get ANY progress. I've always wanted to TAS Secret Rings and Black Knight (and other Wii games, I guess) but I figured no one did them. I'm gonna watch this so I can continue freaking out for the rest of the day; let me know when you get a chance! 👍
Bro pick almost any level from Pirate storm, he flies through the entire level. See me personally, I struggle with some of these level's, but you make it look so easy. Question for chat: Who would win- @RingRush or @ShiroParadox Both use tool - assisted speedruns.
It's possible regardless, crest of the wind just makes timing tighter of when you have to press 2. The jump over the boost panel is just a super small timesaver.
@@RingRush odd, when I tried that with crest of the wind active the boost pads sent me into the air instead of the small bit of floor that you can start a slide on.
Pleasantly surprised to notice that Crest of Dark actually had a use during a TAS, how ever briefly. (Just the once for Evil Foundry 10's collect Rings, right?)
I can't remember off the top of my head if there are any other levels, but the wind crest ring burn in EF10 means you have to run down an extra hallway at the end. Wind crest only increases top speed, which you need to accelerate up to. Since the level has so much starting and stopping with the rails, it wouldn't even provide enough benefit to justify needing the extra rings. So crest of dark is used less because it is super useful and more because crest of wind is actively harmful.

Actually, Hero Gauge slows time for bosses. Dark Gauge allows Shadow to use Chaos Blast.

You need certain skills equipped that give experience. In this case, it is the skill that gives experience for completing 20+ long ring chains.

What I do is use backup to wind the catapult and then alternate shake remote and backup until it sends me flying
