    Well, I found this valuable because I'm a beginner and it explained a lot of things I didn't know before. It was better than several other stereo-removal videos I've seen, so I'm glad of it. Smart people who already know this stuff don't need to be abusive; they could try being helpful and telling the rest of us some of things they know.

    You left out one of the most complicated/difficult part: splicing the wire harness. 99% of people replacing their stereo aren't using the same brand that they're taking out, which requires a lot more work than is shown in this video. Still doable, but if people are expecting as easy a job that is in this video, they will be disappointed if they don't do the research on how to match up and splice the proper wire connections.

    If you use the keys the right way(with the bump in towards the radio) it will release the locks, and actually secure onto the radio so so don't wreck the face using pliers to pull the radio out.

    So all of the electrical connections are the same for every aftermarket radio? Because I currently have an aftermarket installed and want a different one, however i really don't want to fart around with the wiring. If it's this easy, I'll do it myself in no time.

  • @rollseboy
    @rollseboy 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    you sometimes get them in the new stero or u can buy them but if you can make them just get a bit of thick wire or some thin small metal plate and hammer it untill it fits. when it dose fit you might need to jiggle it around to get it to unclip

  • @lew708

    I saw another video where he installed a "converter box"? I think it was to do with the wattage of the new stereo system vs. the wattage of the speakers? i.e. if you play music too loudly, it'd destroy the factory speakers?

    Currently in the process of replacing the stock receiver with a new receiver. I also own an 2001 Chevy Malibu,. When purchasing the new receiver online, The website - Crutchfield is telling me that - "You'll need to cut out the plastic rear support bracket to make room for your new stereo." Is this a difficult process to do? Don't want to just start taking apart my car.

    How do you remove the original sterio, and replace it with a new one on a 1999 chevy malibu?

  • @nachaking
    @nachaking 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Take out the stereo and look all the way in the back of the slot in your dash, you should see a hard plastic piece in the back that is in the way and it wont let the stereo go all the way in. what you have to do is cut the part that is in the way and the stereo should fit in just fine. Dont worry you are not hurting the integrity of anything by doing so.
