How don’t your walls have mold if it’s always so humid in there
The humidity is isolated to a small area where the humidifier sits. The room itself is not humid and the walls are never damp.

Doesn't your pre moistened moss get algae? How do you prevent it from getting algae?
It doesn’t really. Maybe some spots but for the most part no. You can prevent using hydrogen peroxide and water

hi! love your videos. i’m thinking of getting a few plants of my own and was wondering if mold or rot is ever a problem with the humidity, and if so, how do you deal with it?
Hi! So I find mold is more common when there is a lot of moisture and not a lot of air flow. For the plants in my cabinet, I have a fan running 24/7 and also I open it frequently to get air exchange going. I also get mold if my soil is holding into too much moisture, so I check my watering habits and also tend to ere on the chunkier side when it comes to my soil mixes. I have never had any mold/rot issues with moss poles. Some of them have algae, which isn’t harmful.

All climbing plants (or plants that typically trail) can be trained to grow on a moss pole! This includes Pothos, some philodendron, Monsteras, and more. I’ll post some shorts on how I started plants on a pole to begin with. It’s a very rewarding way to see plants grow.
Link to the humidifier, though?? BeeN Searching for a RELIABLE RECHARGEABLE one. I have done it about 3 times now, I type in "portable humidifier. " what ends up coming is a USB plug in one. I don't have enough plugs in my house.

Do you really air out that greenhouse regularly when 2 of the 4 walls are made of holes/mesh anyway? Or did you close the mesh with plexi or something clear? Im really curious 🤓
I sealed the mesh with a window sealing kit. Humidity right now is at about 78%. There’s fans circulating 24/7 but I check on my plant everyday, so there’s air exchange when I open it. I don’t intentionally air it out. It just happens as part of my routine.

I never bought that cabibet because if these open sides as i want to have high humidity inside (thats why i have milsbo). But that sounds like a great solution I'd like to try. 🤩

I get this! I genuinely get annoyed when my 4” plants dare to outgrow their pots. I do like though growing my plants vertically to get bigger leaves!

ok pretty dumb question but do you need to water the moss pole too? i only ever had succulents that i water from the bottom
You do because all the aerial roots grow into the moss and they need to be watered just like soil roots :)
Do moss pole’s need a humidifier?
No but they do need to be kept constantly moist. The humidifier for me is for the plants. Especially because this was living in a greenhouse in higher humid conditions and was now going to be kept out.

You only need to be as fancy as you want! It’s possible to keep low maintenance plants 🙌

I have a plant just like this and my new leaf just stopped growing and dropped off! 😢 so you know why it did this?
Oh no! There’s so many reasons this could happen and because everyone’s growing environment is different, it’s hard to diagnose problems. For me, I noticed philodendron Melanos really prefer high humidity more than my other philodendrons.

In my conditions, TOO OFTEN (1-2 times a week)

In my experience, mold happens when there’s moisture and poor air circulation. These plants are sitting in ambient conditions so there’s tons of air flow around them!

Isn't that just a plastic pole, or does the moss contact the plant?
When the nodes of the plant come in contact with the moist moss, it encourages the aerial roots to grow into it
Do you find at a certain height you need to add a garden stake for support? Yes Saran wrap
I have one that’s like 6 extensions tall without a stake but it’s in a heavy heavy pot to stabilize. I imagine a stake would help

Pro tip: A plank of wood works just as well as a moss pole, it cheaper and, in my opinion, looks nicer
Plants can def climb, but in terms of leaf jump size, i prefer moss because it’s essentially air layering the nodes, which also makes these super easy to propagate because they’re already rooted.
