In this video I chop and extend my monstera dubia. I've managed to grow my monstera dubia huge - she's definitely not a shingling plant anymore - but I was so scared to actually chop her, as I've struggled in the past with propagating this plant. I also take you through the other new plants I got at the plant swap, I came away with some beautiful new houseplants, and I'm super excited to show you them!

@@rams2484 I glad you mentioned the smell. I have one that just recently flowered for the first time and I thought I was going crazy. The smell seemed so strong to me, but my family couldn't smell it.

Thank you so much for mentioning the environmental impact of moss. I get it - we all just get accustomed to buying the things that we've been told we need. And being sustainable often costs a bit more and you have to go looking for it. Effort! But with so many people using these resources, I for one know that I need to stay conscious of how I'm consuming. Moss isn't one that I'd even thought about before.

Don't be scared of the wax Ivy, honestly it's super easy. Just treat it like a succulent and give it something to climb, like really climb. It vines around anything but is also very easy to unwind from where you don't want it. It's also so easy to prop in water by tip cuttings of 3-5 nodes. An east or west window aspect is best. The Alocasia Platinum has been growing in soil, but I added Pon at the bottom in case further down the line you want to transition it to full Pon. When watering as is, you can use the Pon as a reservoir. The Peperomia, too, can be treated like a succulent. The leaves will start to look floppy when it's watering time. It does suffer if water is left on the leaves in sun, it burns super easily, and the leaves are very good at letting you know if the light is too much. The cucullata has only ever been in no-drainage Pon, but these cucullatas seem so adaptable in my experience. The variegated Lipstick plant has come from a plant in direct evening light, but they generally prefer approx' 5-6 hrs of , yep you guessed it, "bright, indirect light". I would hate for you to lose that one because the variegation that comes through on the older leaves is just stunning. Wait until you see the flowers..even the tubular cataphylls the flowers come out of are amazing. They are soooo velvety and a really dark maroon/burgundy colour. If you struggle with anything, although I highly doubt you will, you know where to find me. Great job with the dubia btw, rather you than me 😅

It's not pointless filling the pole with moss. The pole will dry from the top down. This leaves the moss moist at the bottom where the plant needs it to be for longer. This also extends the length of time between waterings.

  • @smoofdoof

Hi I have been watching your channel for a few weeks now and I suffer from anxiety and depression. Watching your channel has helped me so much. I love my plants, I have a very big money plat that I have had for years but it's in soil and the soil is so complicated. It's not growing much anymore, I've taken a lot of cuttings since I have had it and they are thriving but I am thinking about reporting. Doyou think I should or just leave it. Please help. X shari from mitcham Surrey. Big fan.

I wish I could send u pics! I went to the hardware store - no acetate clear plastic sheets. But I got this flexible clear plastic flooring (? Is it for the floor or for covering grandmas couch?!) - it comes in a roll like fabric - so I cut 2 feet for $8. I think it will work good on the moss pole!
But I don’t want to wait for Amazon to deliver some sphagnum moss - so I got green moss (used for decoration). But it comes from the forest - 😬 - will it give me bad bugs or good bugs? Is it steam pasteurized?! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
