How to ACCIDENTALLY Grow TOO MANY PLANTS

- How do I stop this cycle ☠️
I can’t wait until these acclimate to soil so I can give them all away to friends who don’t want any more of my plants 😅
I am pleasantly surprised by this propagation experiment. The “wet sticks” (leafless nodes) rooted so well by just lying on top of both perlite and moss. The moss roots were definitely longer, but the perlite roots were perfectly fine and in the future, I’ll just stick to perlite because it’s so much easier to work with. I like how I’m talking about the future as if I’m not rooting another batch of wet sticks right now 🫠

Girl, give them to people as gifts!
I do!
Or people who fellow you like us ❤❤
In market place Facebook . ❤
"I'm okay I'm okay it's not midnight yet!" Hahahaha if that ain't the most relatable thing ever
😂😂😂😂😂
I underestimated how fast pothos grow. When I first started getting into plants, I had about 4-5 different pothos varieties. I can now confidently say that I have at least 20 planted pothos & this doesn't include the propagations😅
HAHA they are such prolific growers
I combine different species of pathos/philodendrons/sansevieria in "family-type" planters so I can enjoy the contrast betw them.
Well, you should stay away from the syngonium. 😂
I get very sorry because I have killed even pothos and sanseviera 😢😅
I cut runners off and compost! Cutting stimulates plant growth near the soil to make it fuller and i hate looking at runners
Agreed
😊 that’s where my soil bin lives. Under the tv . Well right now on my kitchen island. Been using every day. A labor of love!
Hahaha yesss!
If your Scindap. is giving long runner arms with no leaves its from getting too dry between waterings. It's pushing out growth but cannot produce the leaves. It's one of those plants to go over to and touch the pot once a week to see where its at. :)
Thanks!
You sure? Im pretty sure the problem is not enough light so the plant lets these runners grow with no or very small leaves to find places with more light. Every scindapsus or epipremnum with runners i moved closer to a light source had smaller spaces between nodes and more/bigger leaves
@@okami235my problem is too much root, not enough soil… it sounds like scindapsus do this when they’re short on something
I learned quickly I don’t need to propagate every single piece or cutting. I barely have space for the plants anymore let alone propagations, everyone does not want a planty gift, and the stuff I’m aggressively cutting (especially like tradescantia/wandering dude) will just keep quickly growing back and it’d be a never ending cycle and mess. I felt only slight guilt at first for throwing away plant pieces and you could compost them if it helps you feel better but it’s kind of..freeing to just toss what I don’t need and be done.
I need these gifts ToT mine don't grow quick and I haven't been able to propagate them nicely. I need plants
I do end up composting a lot too because you’re right at some point it’s overwhelming
In a "tiny" NYC apartment. Enjoy the challenge of nurturing my props. I give away the established HUGE/ beautiful Mother plants that out grow my apartment so that I'll have more space to raise my babies🪴
I live in downtown a big city where there are always a lot of newcomers and students nearby. The light in their eyes when I gave all my props away is the best reward to my small effort.
I sell my extras on fb marketplace or a local site 😅
take the leafless runners and just wrap them around the edge of the pot in the soil, half an inch deep and wait a few months, youll have more leaves
lol you’re going to end up composting them like the pothos 😅
People went crazy when I said I did that 😅
Dude I have so many pothos cuttings, I'm considering it. It just hurts so bad to throw them out!!!
Locally there's a "take a plant give a plant" box- like those reading libraries. Great thing to do to share cuttings.
@@trippin9899I feel so guilty too. I’m going to do trades soon with my props
@@trippin9899I started throwing them in carry out cups with lids and they’re super easy to give away and not toss out. Just stand on the street and start handing them out. Lol it do be getting crazy lol
I love that plant , it is most slow growing plant ever! Good job
It IS slow. Especially compared to Pothos
A gardener's beauty😂❤
My son keeps telling me I have too many plants, from now on I'm claiming "...it's an accident."; because accidents happen -hehehe - Love your content, and humor.
HAHAHA I’m going to tell that to my husband
I always have space for some plants if u need to give them away
You got me hooked on these clear pots in these durn things are expensive 😅❤
Clear pots for the win!
A endless cycle of pruning! Got to love it!!
Haha it is endless
Love your clear pots and I love this plant!! I've had one since last Summer and it's finally trailing because I moved it to my Southeast-facing window!! I can't wait to prop it in the Spring!!❤😊
That is awesome!
I love propagating plants its an addiction. I usually give my plants out as gifts but surely you could also sell them.
Haha my friends and local buy-nothing group are the recipients of 99.99% of my props
I would gladly take some of those plants off your hands!!! 😀😀😍😍😍 you have an amazing green thumb. Or is it the root crack? 🤔🤔😅😄
LOL combo of both maybe???
You make it look so easy, scindapsis gave me hell!! Love your videos
Haha thank you!!
Love your videos 🥰
Thank you!!
Every time I try propagating something in perlite, I end up killing them, I'm not sure how you're doing it with so much ease. Only water propagation is working for me
I keep it pretty full of water!
LOL. Same here. I always tell myself: "it's gonna take 10min". Then it goes into 30min and then an hour and two. Till, I really HAVE to go to bed. Tending to plants at night is so cooling and refreshing, with no distractions that we don't want to stop. :0
We enter another time dimension haha
I've been seeing such good results from moss propogations. After seeing those roots I think I'm going to experiment with it a little.
it works well! Keep the moss consistently moist
I have those propagations all over my house I can't bring myself to throw any cuttings away. I just filled a prop box with with pictus wetsticks yesterday. 😂 You have more patience than me I never remove all the moss.
Haha I can’t stand moss!
Runners are due to low light conditions. The plant sends out runners looking for more light. Think of the potato experiment in the box in grammar school.
This is directly under a grow light. I feel like this is just prone to it
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow I’ve wondered why mine does the same with ample light. It may just be in their genetics.
HAHAHAHAHA so funny and relatable ❤😂
😅🫶
😂love it!
Plant mother of the year..🥰
🫶
My satin pothos grows leafless stems, THEN grows leaves later! 💜
Never knew that
They usually grow runners due to low light.
It drives me crazy!
I felt this. I had a Cebu with a ton of runners. Hundreds of nodes. I propogated the leaf nodes into one container--sooo many.
And the leafless nodes into a bag with moss. There must be like 50 or more lol
LOL 50 is a lot
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow 🤣🤣 I'm sure it's more than that. Now I'm going to count it
i’ve been wanting a plant like this so bad and believe it or not i can never find any where i live!😭
Really?!?! They’re pretty common. You can buy online for sure
I can’t wait to go get some plants soon
Awww, finally someone online that is like me. Lmao. Just stumbled upon your videos, and I feel like you are my soul sister. Lol
Hahaha hi!!
You did not give us the update of the monstera Thai Constellation plz 💁🏻♀️😭😭😭
I promise it’s in the works!!!
Okay thanks 😊😊😊💁♀️
😂 I can relate to that....❤
i was wondering what happened to the cutings, they are growing very well
They are!!!
Wow your soil is awesome lol, I don't think I ever said that to someone before 😊
HAHAHAHA thank you
How do you know when to use a grow light or when sunlight is enough?
I use a light meter to see how much reachable light gets on the leaves
That's how I got diagnosed with Hashimoto disease
Great video. I’m try put in soil to propagate. And they was rutten
Ahhh soil propagation can be tricky for some plants. Water is easiest and I like perlite with water
Tbh, atp, I might as well sell these out here so people can have em😂
They look so good tho!!!
💚🪴💚
Thank you!
Silver satin is my favorite
I've just started giving them away on Facebook Marketplace. There is no shortage of people that want free plants.
And local buy nothing groups!
❤😊Hijos y plantas lo mejor❤😊
Where do you buy the clear pots and mini saucers?
I had tons of runners too but mine was more down to being root bound. She just got a repot and I have runners in my cabinet 😂
These are so prone to runners!
What kind of plant is that? It looks similar to my newest one.
LOL just shoving those toys aside, priorities. 🤣
Def priorities
If that's a pothos and not the scandapsus than it wants more light I keep might in the middle of where all the t8s in my room overlap and it legit grows like a weed but a full weed at that lol
"down the rabbit hole we go"
"ACCIDENTALLY" 😂
Key word haha
Wow
I know exactly how you feel... 5mins is actually hours later
It’s like dog years 😂
Where do you get your chunky perlite? ❤
On my storefront! I also get from SolSoils (Michelle15 for discount)
If only there were ways to just swap the props you have!
Maybe the best way is to put them in little containers with care guides on the street occasionally as free plants for people to take 🤣
You have too many plants!!
Give some away!
I will gladly take one or two
Lol
My soil is also under the TV 😂
WOOT WOOT 👌
What's the secret to your SOT?!? 😭 mine could never
BRIGHT light!!!!
Mine is in a west facing window... should I move her to my south facing window?
This is me and my Monstera adansonii right now 😅
Haha oh man
@ohtheplacesyoullgrow how often didn’t you spritz the cutting with water???
The one inside the glass dome was opened maybe 3 times. The one in perlite I removed the plastic wrap once the leaves hit the top and I topped it off with water whenever I remembered
May I ask what does your chunky mix entail?
Yes! I usually get from Sol Soils because it’s premixed (MICHELLE10 is a code you can use). When I make my own, it’s orchid bark, perlite, coco chips, and some soil
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow Thank you for your input your iridescent mat is SO pretty!!🥰🙏🙏
🤣🤣🤣🤣 this is my life but with succulents.
Hahah!
Can you re-grow them only dip into water?
They can grow in water too
😅I want one
PLEASE! Can you tell me the name of the plant 🙌😭 that was one of my favorite plants I ever had, they’re so fun to propagate ! I left them in water for a long time and they were doing so good until they weren’t. Is it not recommended to leave them in water forever ? pls reply 🥺
Scindapsus!
I give them to people as gifts and it is never five minutes vendor we always see something else
Good idea!
I like you.
It's no longer, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" 🐁 🍪
It's now, "If You Give a Girl a Plant" ☠️💁♀️
Exaaaactly
What kind of plant is this?
Scindapsus
Can i prop this plant in coco fiber ith this process?
Hmmmm I haven’t tried that but the substrate needs to be PRETTY moist and I don’t know if coco fiber will stay consistently moist
Probably you need to learn the shadow clone jutsu 🥷 to look after these beautiful greens unless you want to end up sleep walking🧛🏻♀️
Wait how do you keep the moss from going moldy?
I’ve never had an issue with mold! Airflow is important to prevent mold. I get algae but not mold
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow hmmm ok thanks!
What plant is that? I got one as a gift but dont know the name.
Scindapsus!
Meanwhile, I just throw away whatever I prune off.
Haha which is also fine
You need to leave the plant i a darker place so it does not develope those separatations.
How, HOW do you stop your moss from going mouldy?! I can't propagate anything in moss because of the mould issues. I have even boiled my moss before using, but even then it still went mouldy.
Hmmmm maybe try a different brand of moss?
seconding the brand switch. I had a bunch of mold issues with the random sphag moss I bought; I ended up buying the nice new zealand stuff (i think the packaging is orange) and I haven't had any mold problems since then
Michelle!!! Hey
Omg hi!
This looks so fun. I want plants but I'm sure they will all die 😢
It’s trial and error! I still unalive plants
What's that plant?
It’s a Scindapsus Pictus
😢❤ i love your videos i want to grow plants but you talk so fast im old and slow and so are my wats could you do printables please i love your videos to ❤😂❤
I’m def in the process of making guides
I tried it too, but it started to rot
Oh nooo
Cutting after cutting after cutting after cutting... AFTER CUTTING AFTER CUTTING AFTER CUTTING-
Lol so real
My sticks always die 😢
Neglect is key haha
You should sell some to get money
I usually just give them to friends
5 months? Not even to water?
The one under the glass dome was opened maybe twice to spritz. The one in perlite was watered when I remembered
Sounds like saying Morning Prayers in a hurry. No offence meant . Perhaps if you slowed down your speech , many would appreciate.
Can i have one 😂
Hahha I actually did give all these away
Ngl ... I´m like you 😍
🤜🤛
Gift me one girl😮😮😮
I give away cuttings all the time to my local buy nothing group haha
If you don't give plants away then get into the business of selling them.
I give all my plants away!
