    You nailed the explanation of sound, you don’t notice if it’s not under load. But if you put your foot in it or pull a trailer, where the throttle body opens up more, it sounds like a dream.

    I got a big boost in power mostly torque with my 2021 silverado trail boss that I fitted 34x12 mud tires too, it restored the feeling of driving with the lighter factory tires plus a little more.

    Good video, thanks for sharing the story . I've had K&N on 2 previous Chevys with 5.3s. I noticed improvement on both, I was waiting to install on my 2020, but I think you convinced to go ahead. Keep the great videos coming.

    Just added it today to my 2020 5.3 in the cold but sunny weather in Ontario, was just as explained very simple. If you want to prep the system a head of time in your nice warm house you will cut the installation time even more. I instantly noticed an increase in sound and power but I also have Corsa Sport cat back system. 2 things that happened is on starting my truck it asked me to put the drivers window down then up , not sure why , perhaps it was because the battery was disconnected and I did over Rev in first on one of my launches and it cut out for a split second, I did have wheel spin perhaps thats why and I do have all terrain tires which spin easily on pavement. Glad I did it, your video sold me on it !

    I noticed my shift points changes after installing the intake, which is a sign that the intake made a difference.

    2021 Silverado RST with a K&N intake and MBRP cat back exhaust system on a 5.3 its awesome brand new truck, have owned a few vortecmaxs before waiting on them to work out the kinks in the 6.2. but the sound over all performance of the truck is amazing

    Added one to my 19 about a month ago. Easy install but was missing a piece and didn't notice until I had it installed, but luckily I found the piece on Amazon. Still working with K&N. Other than that love it and it makes my exhaust sound louder. Also have an issue with the air filter warning ⚠️ but I just clear it. I think it can be turned off.

    I added a K&N cold air intake on my 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali and it runs horrible. K&N advertisement stated that a tune wouldn't be needed but it's seems to be required. The dealership will not tune it due to a code, not sure if that's true. I re-installed the factory intake. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have a factory mass airflow sensor that’s compatible with the K&N. So that should detect the improved airflow and adjust as needed.

    I really like this intake because K&N took the time to actually test it and not just make a claim! So is that 15+hp achieved by just bolt on or does it need a tune?

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never read anything about a tune. These numbers were pulled before they even had tunes for this truck I think... You'd also think that air sensor would detect the flow change and compensate...

      That's nice to know...hopefully more can be achieved with a good tune! Really like how it looks under the hood as it could easily pass for stock! Thanks for the video and response!

    Hi, You mentioned that you used the amount of money you paid for the previous truck, converted into points, to get discounts at the GM parts store...
    How is this done ? How do I apply the amount I paid for my truck and convert into GM loyalty points and get discounted GM Parts... Please advise. Thank you.

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Austin. I never did any point conversions. Spending money at GM dealerships gets you points. I’ve received points from buying 2 trucks, 2 ppf films, and 2 sets of aftermarket wheels lol. Which I’ve used those points on Chevy floor mats, and to get some of those previously mentioned services for less. Converting points and claiming part/service discounts is all done via GM rewards site. My salesman made sure I knew about it before I left with my new truck.

    Hay thanks for you last response. My order from RealTruck came in today. One concern is about filtering of the K&N. I see a lot of posts regarding the lack of filtering efficiency of the K&N. Do you have any filtration concerns? Just an FYI the factory paper filters are about $31.00 way to much

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  ปีที่แล้ว

      What? K&N is the best filter on the market. Never heard of a paper filter being superior in any category.

    Hi, I have the 63 intake i just threw on my 2019 LTZ about a month ago now. I'm just coming up on the 10K mile mark and yesterday when i turned the truck on it had a notification on the dash that said "Check Air filter system" wondering if you had that pop up at all? I reset the air intake to 100% after the K&N install but from what I'm reading is the notification is normal at 10k. just wondering if you had it pop up.
    Also I did a muffler delete and it really opened up the overall sound :) do that next hehe.

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not yet. I’m still under 3k for this truck. Hopefully just resetting the AF life to 100% will take care of it.
      How much drone do you get with that delete? And did you have to disable DFM? I hear they don’t sound so good when they are not running on all 8.

    • @johnalfonsofishing
      @johnalfonsofishing 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TruckOwnership101 The drone isnt too bad, it sounds decent IMO. I still have DFM but I do agree it would sound that much better with it deactivated.

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I wonder if plugging in your setup on realtruck.com or K&N would give you options or numbers. Doesn’t look like the 63 series in an option for that engine, at least on RealTruck....

  • @Psalm51Yah

    What about fuel, do you use 93 grade on your 5.3L?

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      93 is meant for vehicles with higher compression ratios like the 6.2 does. Octane refers to the fuels stability under compression. The 5.3 is designed to run on 87, so anything greater is a waste of money actually.

    Yo Man what about the 3.0l???

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      More easily flowing air always equals more power, but a 3.0 diesel makes half the horsepower as my 6.2 stock. However it does makes the same torque, so I would imagine you would get similar torque boosts, but only half the HP gains. I don't see a full Cold Air Intake System for the 3.0 on their website though... Just the filter replacement.
