ridiculous that you can't get the LED headlights on the premium model with the performance package. conversely, you can opt for the limited and get the better headlights but you're stuck with leather seats & a moonroof. get your shit together subaru.
It’s a smart (yet dirty) tactic for Subaru. With rumours of the next WRX being a hybrid, what if it’s not liked by everyone? People will buy the older model, which has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. By keeping the older Starlink system with no CarPlay/AA, people who want that feature plus the performance oriented Subaru (WRX/STI) will have no choice but to upgrade to the new model. But of course the current WRX/STI (to be superseded in 2020) can buy an aftermarket head unit.
The sport package and the performance package are both a waste of money. Yes the recaro seats are nice, but for less money you can get better aftermarket parts. The wrx is a great value, but when optioned out well over 30k it's not such a great deal. The base and premium are the smart choices.
I might be getting one of these in a couple years. I'm waiting until 2020 when they're supposed to be updating the car again to see if I like it. If not I'm hoping to get a good deal on the old model. All I really need is GPS
I have this car. The Recaro front seats are 100% better than the cloth seats I had on my 2017 WRX Premium. The clutch and brakes feel much better, too. I'm not in agreement about the suspension. I definitely feel the bumps in the road more in this 18 versus the 17.
James Swanson hey man, how are you doing. I'm actually looking into buying the wrx limited. I was wondering if the rev hang is still a problem with the wrx? If So, how do you deal with it?
James Swanson yea I've been reading on it alot. I'm still doing research but if you do tune the Car, it may have warranty issues. From what I've been reading the dealership can basically say "no we won't fix it without charge because you did a tune". But I'll keep doing research. I'm in no rush to buy the car. Thank you for your response
I did not notice a significant difference in the sound on the WRX without the performance exhaust from last year. I am always a fan of a nice exhaust on a WRX or STI.
1:55 also allows for my 6'5" ass to fit in there. you have any idea if there is any more or less headroom with those recaro's? i know the moonroof delete adds nearly 2.5 inches but i wonder if those seats sit any lower than the normal ones?
Yeah I'm dying to find one of these option packs to test fit. I can only fit in the base model so far, the side of my head hits the bolster on the sunroof models so I can't get the up-trim versions. I'm also curious if I fit in the bolstering, a lot of Recaros are too tight side to side. If you never saw them I'm actually considering one of these Vario XXL seats to get more depth in the seat pan too. www.4x4outdoortuning.com.au/scheel-mann-vario-xxl.html
Thanks for the informative review. Very interesting. I was wondering if WRX 2018 still has the rev hang that previous year models? I have 2017 WRX and rev hang is annoying. Thanks!
Subaru leather seats are absolutely trash. Look online people are reporting their leather seats starts extremely cracking within 1-2 year of normal used. Those recaro seats should've came with the limited wrx/sti from the very beginning. Regarding your comment on the 2018 wrx premium trim the infotainment system is still pretty much garbage because the only difference is the size other than that it still lags and it still don't have android/apple car play. Also what you're hearing isn't all necessarily coming from the exhaust because Subaru runs a tube that brings the intake noise into the cabin.
Lol I wonder how much he getting pay for saying about the resale value 04-05 on wrx sti only a few thousand less than the new wrx sti. Come & buy my 05 for $30k only 138,000 miles it $10k+ less than the new wrx sti
Groove, I own a 2012, WRX with fog lights and rear spoiler. The car is garage kept and just turned 4,000 miles. {correct 4,000] would love to buy 2018 automatic version. Does the 2018 with sport package come in automatic?
I have a 16 Impreza wagon that I thought I could live with but its intolerably slow. So I want to trade it for a wrx but with no hatchback and the same terrible entertainment system in my current car no way am I paying that much. If the head unit can beam the weather and other nonsense from my phone it Can beam a map up there but Subaru just won't let it. Also everyone wants a hatch sti/wrx but Subaru seems to know better. Frustrating
Ah ok I see you on Santa Fe driving northbound towards Denver! I take that route every day to work and I’ll be taking it soon in my new 2018 wrx!

I like the honesty with the infotainment system. Subaru needs to add Apple Car Play/Android Auto asap!
Andrew Katsanos I grabbed a 2017 Impreza Sport and it does have both...I wonder why they're not including them on the WRX...
Thanks Andrew. We try and keep things real on the show.
Groove Subaru can the head unit be replaced with one that supports Android/Apple?
JHUMAD BHRO™ LOL, not sure if that was for me or not but, I agree with you and I didn't. I picked up my WRX on Friday and absolutely love it

Put in the kicker OEM upgraded speakers and tweeters and add your own amplifier. The infotainment system will sound much better.
When your speeding and you think you see a cop 🚓 3:49
I'm getting the Crosstrek next year for the family, I'll wait for the 2020 sti, which will hopefully be upgraded to all the goodies wrx has
Im getting a 2017 wrx today!

Dealers refuse to go down in price on these though
I agree mines a 2017 premium just premium...and its not bad at all for me. But to pay more for seats no thanks plus i enjoy the sun roof.+manual.

The rev hang is still there, it's not as bad in the 2-3 shift but it's still there. The only way to get rid of it is a tune.

James Swanson did the dealer give you decent discounts? Because mine wont
They weren't going to originally, but another dealer had the exact same car advertised on their web site for $2000 off, so they matched the deal.
Thank you! Great review!
is there any lumbar supports in any wrx models? My17 STI doesn't have any?
How is the stock sound system? Still garbage?
I did not notice a significant difference in the sound on the WRX without the performance exhaust from last year. I am always a fan of a nice exhaust on a WRX or STI.
Groove Subaru he is asking about the audio system in the cabin not the exhaust sound
is the ”premium” talk about limited?
Unrelated to the video.. but why do you put it in neutral while coasting at relatively high speeds?
Cause he drives like a bitch don’t know why he needs a WRX.

Yes, it's still there.
1 question what is your location
So where is the test drive for the STI?
We just got them in. We will be filming in this week.
Since when do these things sound like an econo shitbox? I thought these were supposed to have a bit of boxer rumble
Joseph Stoner They removed uel headers for this car which gave them the rumble. Still comes on the STI.
MSRP on this WRX?
How did you get power seats in the premium?
JTundra Recaro seats aren’t manual
Nick O ohhhhh duh
why they don't put the new info system

The tube in the wrx does not bring engine noise it brings the intake noise.
Andrew Nurcahya My bad I'm mean the intake.

Where my sweet sixteen.?
People must think he’s talking to him self in traffic

Premium is best value for sure. But only when you dont add thousands of $ in packages
