    Hi Adriene just wanted to say thank you so much for creating this video. I have suffered with chronic migraines for years and have recently decided to come off my medication in favour of mindfulness practice. Your videos have me cope so much better with the migraines. I tried this particular video for the first time tonight and my symptoms have drastically reduced. Thank you x

      Rachael Moss I am 23 yo and have been suffering from migraines since I was in high school. I just tried this video for the first time and it made all the nausea go away. The actual pain isn't nearly as bad as it was before I did the video also. I too would like to say thank you lol

      Rachael Moss Similiar story for me. Been off all medications for a year and half, eliminated all grains and sugar, do regular yoga for neck and shoulders, and after 36 years of chronic migraines, I am mostly migraine free. When one starts to creep on, I drink a ton of water, put an ice pack to the neck, and do this video. IT WORKS EVER SINGLE TIME!! Thank you so much, Adriene. This video is magic. Truly. Xoxo

    At this point, whenever I feel something ain't right - I think about yoga. I put in the search field "yoga" and add some issue - every single time you have a video for it. Needless to say, every single time it helps me. Worked when I felt so low (depression practise), helped with overeating, helped with back pain and now this blessing! You're a wonder.

    Firstly, it's really touching that you said "so sorry you have a headache". Its a much nicer way to approach a yoga flow than the "do this and you'll feel better" type vids that other produce. I've had a migraine for a couple days, usually I'll sleep it off by now and wake up with a weird and unpleasant lightheadedness but well enough to work etc. But on day two I decided to try this and it has really helped me, Thank you. Peace to all

I began to feel like i'd never be able to continue living this way, but small mindfulness yoga practices like this really really help. It's so difficult explaining chronic pain to someone but through your video and your actions I felt seen. Thank you.

    This is not yoga, this is magic! Another years-long migrainer, tried everything and nothing worked, I was feeling so hopeless and helpless. So I decided to try this thinking, well, it couldn’t hurt. And it works. You cannot imagine how grateful and happy I am. I also do your beginner videos twice a day. You get that it is the whole body that needs help, in your kind and gentle manner. I even got my sister and neighbor to join the Adriene fan club. And my cat. He always waits till the very end and comes and lies on my stomach and says good job, Mom. Thank you so much. I look forward to when I can try some of your more challenging videos. Some day...

    Tip: Take a spare sock (a novelty super fuzzy sock that you lost the mate to is perfect) an fill about 3/4 full with rice. Bonus: add dried lavender or mint. Tie off or sew shut. You now have a weighted eye blanket that can be stored in the freezer or heated in the microwave (about a minute and a half).

    In December I started having a headache that didn't go away. The pain has been day and night for 9 months now. Sometimes it is managable, sometimes it spins way out of control and I am incapacitated. Today was one of those days. This video brought me back under control and made it managable again. I have been searching for answers to why, with little help from all the tests and specialists. Until I find out the root cause I will use the skills you have taught me to keep the pain from spiraling out of control. Your skill, kindness, compassion and gentle encouragement are a true gift. Adriene, My deepest gratitude for your multitude of target areas you have a yoga practice for!!! You are quite something! You are a powerhouse, a motivator, a doer, a thinker, and super sweet guide (and my personal guru!), and a very dynamic practitioner! I am super impressed by the magnitude of pains, discomforts, chronic illnesses, diseases, and other things you address. I have been a migraineur (so we are called, us sufferers of migraines) since I was around 10 years old. I am now 47, and though the incidents of migraines have tapered down and become less severe than they have been, I still get them for a ploethera of reasons, including weather - pressure changes -, foods, moods, stress, before an illness like a cold or flu set in, etc. I am ever looking for alternate ways to take care of my head than using drugs my doctor has prescribed. Happy to have another way to address a migraine through this practice. Thank you for this! I have participated in your 30-days of yoga series, your Yoga Camp series, and am now doing your TRUE series. You have totally changed my life, my idea of yoga and what yoga is, and my ability to follow through, and for all this, I am grateful and deeply honoured.

I didn’t quite believe it would go away but, like Adrienne says in other videos, trust yourself for choosing this practice today (or something along those lines!). Well not long after I finished it went away completely! I am stoked and will definitely be doing this again next time I have a migraine. Thanks so much for this video!

    Adriene, I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of years now, because you are so caring and informative, and you have a way of making people on the other side of the screen feel comfortable and confident while practicing yoga, even as beginners. Today I am exceptionally thankful for you and for your work. I had an awful migraine which happens often and I always have to take pain medication and lay in bed crying in pain. This video helped me find relief, and I am extremely thankful to you for that. Thank you for making this available to others at no cost. It’s a blessing.

    I tested positive for COVID today and had an awful headache. As I moved through this practice, I became aware that my body was definitely going through something (more than usual). I wondered if this was worth the time, and though it was no sprinkle of fairy dust, it was a comforting practice that provided some relief mentally and physically. Thank you, Adriene. 💛

    Love your videos so much! I get chronic debilitating migraines, and usually don't practice yoga during an attack. I was stoked to find this one as I assumed it would be gentle (it was) and would have no poses with the head below the heart (but it did...). Just for future reference, any poses that put your head below your heart when suffering from a migraine make the pain/pressure so much worse! I have asked my friends who suffer from migraines (and my neurologist) about it, as I wanted to make sure I wasn't alone in my body's reaction, and they all seemed to agree. Love love love your at home yoga vids, Adriene! I just thought I'd point out this one thing so perhaps you can offer alternative poses if you ever do another yoga for migraine video. I still do it, adjusting that pose and it's great xo

      I was just checking the comments because i wanted to point it out myself! I really can't even think of putting my head below my heart, you are not alone. I absolutely agree with you, and maybe it could be useful for a next video.

      Hey, I fully agree. That pose actually also worsened my nausea. Most of the other poses were fine, but that one wasn't. I love all her videos, but I think this is a very good point for future reference.

I'll definitely save this video for the next time I feel a migraine coming on! I was worried that it'll make the headache worse, but am encouraged by other commenters who said they persevered and felt better for it. Lots of love Adriene and all you others watching!

    For me, forward fold and downward dog are also helpful for migraines because I can let my head hang loose and release all the tension in my neck. Of course, if I am very sick to my stomach all the up and down might not be such a great idea.
    And thank you thank you for all these videos! I've been using them to develop better posture which is helping tremendously with nerve pinching that I was getting from scoliosis. As a bonus I have noticed that if I am hyper vigilant about my posture (basically thinking mountain pose as I go about my work day) I get migraines less often.

Yoga for Mondays... a smooth, gentle intro to the work week, yoga for harried moms... quick reset while the kids nap or how about yoga for life... a requirement for the beginning or ending of your day. I loved this session. TYVM for creating it.

    I can't even start to tell you how lucky I feel for finding this channel! I was never into moving my body, always either chubby and out of shape, or slim and out of shape, and during covid I decided to start taking care of my body and started with your "yoga for complete beginners" vid for a week just like you said, transitioned to 30 days of yoga challenge and haven't missed a single day of practice for the first time in my life! today I woke up with a terrible migraine, suffered through work and thought I might skip a practice for today.... I don't know if it was the weird feeling of disappointing you (lol!) or just feeling something was missing, but I felt I need the mat and your soothing voice today more than ever! and then I found this video... this was an amazing half hour and I feel so healthy and refreshed! thank you so much

    Hi Adrienne! I’ve been doing your videos since the pandemic started. They put me in a great frame of mind for my day which involves a four year old and working from home. They are wonderful and easy to follow and I have seen a difference already in my strength and form. You have a great personality, quirky and full of peace and love, and of course you have a dog..shout out to Benjy! Today was tough as I had a migraine. I lay down in bed and thought Adrienne must have a video for headaches and did this video right from my bed using my sleep mask, peppermint oil and pillow (and blanket). Thank you for being you and for making these videos available to all who need it. Love and blessings!

    Looks so relaxing, I actually didn't do this (no headache) but I want to tell anyone who has migraines, my dad had cluster headaches for 2 years, was in agony. He tried 3 different medications the doctors recommended, none worked very well. He even went to a specialist in migraines. Nothing helped that much. Then he did some searching online and joined a forum of people who also had these headaches. He discovered that taking high doses of vitamin D cured other people's so he tried it himself. Since that day he hasn't even had one! That was a year ago! I hope this helps people!

      My neurologist got me started on 800mg of riboflavin daily and it's really cut down on the number and severity of my headaches/migraines. Look into magnesium as well.

    • @rolom3
      @rolom3 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I forgot to say moving to a sunny country and sunbathing is probably way better than supplementing vitamin D. Just like the benefits of a whole food plant based diet far out weigh taking vitamin or mineral supplements :) But if you live somewhere like Ireland a vitamin D supplement is better than nothing!

      thumbprint44 my dr has me on 400 mg of b2 and I've noticed if I take my heavy duty meds within the hours it starts, The next day I feel fine. Also take high dose D (5000 iu every other day).

      @dragonzuela 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Since people are talking about supplements, I take a 250 mg magnesium every morning with breakfast and it has cut down a lot on the severity of my migraines. I still get them as often but they are much more manageable, and sometimes I can even get through my work day with one. (Luckily they are only once or twice a month and boss is understanding.)

    There’s no feeling more vulnerable than the point at which you need to admit you need help. I’m not ashamed (after many months of practice with Adriene through her videos) that I spent a lot of this practice with tears rolling down my face. I had a headache this morning and whilst I would normally opt for the more physical practices, at the last moment I decided that that’s not what my body needed today. As Adriene says in the video - a lot of emotion can come up when we’re in pain. It’s a reminder that we need to be kinder to ourselves that can feel like an admission of weakness. But it’s not: pain is just your body trying to tell you what it needs. Today, what I needed was a gentle, mindful practice and to let off some emotional steam. Sitting up now, I feel so much lighter and felt compelled to write this comment. Adriene, thank you for teaching me how to listen to my body. I hope everyone using this video finds relief and peace, be it emotional or physical, even if just for these short 20 minutes. Namaste ❤️

    Let me just say that I don't normally get migraines but once in a while during my menstrual cycle, if my cramps aren't bad I end up with a migraine. I know everyone's first thought is to google, "how to get rid of ..." or "what to do if this hurts..." because I'm guilty of it myself. Though I'm so proud of myself for thinking, yoga will help this subside and immediately searching for one of your videos. Thank you for helping to transform my thoughts into using yoga to help with pain, anxiousness or anxiety. This was tremendously relieving and I am so grateful to continue my journey through yoga because of you!

I use this every time to get relief, it’s not a magic pill that clears it on call, it’s a tool I use with my others treatments and since adding this in I have finally cut my migraines down from 25 a month to less then 1 a month now. Completely life changing ❤🎉

    Tears of relief right now. I've had chronic migraines for the past few years and they are pure agony. Favoriting this video so that I can always have it on hand.

    Appreciate this Adriene but, for me anyway, seems like headache relief rather than migraine. I went through migraines and would never be able to sit still and shut my eyes like this as the spinning and ache would of been too much. I've mentioned this before on your channel but the plow position, the one where you bring legs over your head head while on your back, I believe, helped A LOT...amazing stretch for the back of the neck and shoulders. Gives you that slight release you crave at that moment. That stretch plus scalp and head massage, darkness, deep breathing and laying on back without pillow but towel under neck. Great focus of attention and thoughtfulness as always Adriene to something this specific but it is a deep and intense pressure that demands relief on so many different personal ways.

      I just did the video with a bad migraine going into it thinking it would be a nightmare. I can't lay down with my migraines as it makes the pain worse so I was definitely worried. I figured I had nothing to lose, worst case I still have the headache. Well, I do still have the migraine but I will say it drastically brought the pain level down and made it a little more tolerable. I just did it along with you and although my head is still sore, I can honestly say that my symptoms did improve.
