I am experiencing acid reflux this for 2 weeks already. First time in my life. I had trouble sleeping because of it. I constantly burp and sometimes, I cant breathe after eating. Been taking omeprazole to reduce acid and spasmomen for my IBS. I let go of my fave food too. I eat vegetables everyday and tried high-fiber diet. I eat banana, pear, and avocado. I tried exercising everyday for 10-20 mins because the doctor said I have to lose weight. I also practice diaphragmatic breathing, meditation, and yoga every morning and before I sleep.
I manage to reduce the symptoms.
I hope for us to heal soon guys. You're not alone.

Thank you for sharing!! I've had intermittent acid reflux my whole life, but the last month has been so bad that I'm almost constantly nauseous. It took a few weeks to connect the dots so now I'm finally on omeprazole, sleeping on a wedge pillow, cutting out anything carbonated/fried/spicy/alcoholic/caffeinated etc... Just want this nausea to end 🙈🙈

BLESS YOU! I feel for you and and can relate! That is partly why I created this little sequence. I was so at a loss as to what to do and just had to connect with others about it because those around me could not possibly understand. It is a journey for sure - just like our yoga practice. I am still sleeping on an incline some nights and wake up with a good amount of burning in my chest. Its a opportunity - is what I keep reminding myself. Glad to hear your voice is back! Be well!

I know this is an old video, but I just now found it and it is so helpful! It seems I have recently developed some trouble with acid reflux, and a lot of it is stress-triggered - so I'm now trying to get in the habit of doing yoga when I feel the onset of symptoms. I started this practice today with a nasty old cramp in my belly, and by the time we got to the warrior sequence the pain was gone. Hallelujah!

Go to a chiropractor ask for them to “ PUSH your stomach back down “ after I asked her this she agreed that my stomach is high up this can come from holding your stomach in or tensing up a lot or anxiety which is causing the acid reflux your stomach is basically in your esophagus lol but do this as many times as you like , I went twice and take you some over the counter acid reflux medication for like two weeks so your throat has time to heal and try some licorice root or licorice tea to help accelerate the healing process. For me personally though, lying on my back is a huge trigger, so I skip the last part if I'm experiencing a reflux episode or if I'm afraid of beginning one. Just wanted to put that out there for any "acid reflux newbies," haha! Listen closely to your body and learn what positions do or don't feel good for your weak lil sphincters ;) Yoga is a great tool for learning that!

cherry sam it's an ongoing struggle, there are ups and downs, and sometimes it returns without any valid reason..keep your head up, try to live stress-free as much as possible (being sick is stressful enough), talk to your doctor, then go to a second doctor to confirm your course of treatment. What helped me a lot was: 1. eating light food and ditching pepper, onion and garlic 2. switching from coffee to barley coffee substitute 3. Nexium 4. finding out about hydrogen breath test (it can confirm if you have bacterial overgrowth in intestines-bloating can be one of the symptoms- this is treated with antibiotics) 5. YOGA, deep breathing and walking helped me mentally 6. Amytriptilin (used for chronic pain management). 7. support of my family and my husband. I am now 33, the GE problems started for me when I was 30, not exactly old either. It messed up my life and my relationships with people (I was not able to go out drinking or eating fast food and things like that..some people didn't understand it, but it's really important to listen to your body and it's needs, so whoever is against it, they are not your real friends, and can get out of your life, period), it messed with my head and emotions, but it made me pay attention to my health and listen carefully how my body reacts to things..The solution is not just one thing, but a combination of many things. And of course, what works for one person, may not work for another, that's why I strongly suggest speaking often to your doctor, and getting a second opinion, too. Your life may seem out of normal right now, but I promise you, you will find a new normal, just never give up! I wish you the best of luck, and hope you're feeling better with each passing day! :)

Hi Adriene, I just wanted to tell you how thankful I am to you for doing these videos. I started doing your yoga youtube classes last year when I was healing from pneumonia. And now, I have just been diagnosed with gastritis + GERD and a small esophagus ulcer, and undergoing 3 months treatment. I do this video at night, and funny too, my 2 dogs accompany me like yours! Love your dog! Thank you again. You bring peace, care, relaxation and serenity to my world. I lost my voice a bit as well from GERD, and recovered it now. I hope you get better and are undergoing treatment. Hugs to you. Stephanie.

quarantine, drinking too much coffee, lying in bed straight after meals and i have the worst acid reflux for almost 2/3 weeks so its time to take action.
    1)chamomile tea to reduce stress
2)coconut oil pulling to help rid bacteria in mouth as i had bad breath.
3)raising the head of my bed by 6 inches
4)using ginger in everything from meals to tea
    5)yoga with adrienne
6)drinking lots of water and not eating before bed
hope this helps anyone in a similar postion.

kajitani13 Sure...I followed the recommendations in the book "Dropping Acid" by Dr Koufman. Find it on Amazon and start by doing the "induction diet" for the 40 days that is recommended. Eat only the recommended foods! Then check out the resources provided by Carol on her website cantbreathesuspectvcd.com/page4.html Start using DGL before all meals, drink organic camomille tea instead of coffee, Essentia water all day, stop eating by 8pm. By following many of the recommendations, I changed my diet, lost 20 lbs, breathing issues stopped, GERD healed. It is now my life style to eat the "dropping acid" way. (BTW...i refuesed to take medication...I let my body heal itself. Let me know how it goes!

Dont Worry about this. I got to know that the more you worry the more worse it gets. And GERD is actually common in the whole world. Maintain good diet but dont eat at least 3 hours before sleep. Yeah they would put you on medication and dont worry as medicines have certain side effects. Medication could be life long or just for a small period. If symptoms are gone , then you dont need medication for long. Do this yoga twice and all will be good. Hope it helps. ! :)

I just came across your video. Thank you for making this!!!!
It really helped ease my chest and tense muscles that seem to ALWAYS happen to me when I get reflux/gerd-like symptoms.
I've noticed, for me, it's both a combination of food and stress/anxiety which flares it up and sometimes it lasts for days/weeks if I don't ease my symptoms early enough. Stressing, having even thebslughtest anxiety, and arguing definitely make my esophagus tighten up and apparently stress is definitely a common thing to flare it up.
Hard to control the diet portion. I love coffee, only have it once per day, sometimes I skip a day or so if I don't feel like making it. Most foods seem to have cheeses, some spices, and some acidity to a point, which makes it so difficult to swear by the anti-reflux diet. Most food I enjoy have Something that's a known trigger for reflux. I have always hated bland food. I varietize what I eat as much as possible.
This week was hard because I ate a small bag of flaming hot cheetos for a snack, then the next day (yesterday) my in-laws brought over deviled eggs, potato salad, and baked beans, which... heh, gave me TONS of reflux tightness and, well, gas.. all day today. Heh! But, food! Yummy, right?! Regretfully, yes... lol!
I feel like this would also very much help with panic attacks too, as it really loosens up the chest muscles to relax all the built up tension there.
This video really helped release some of the tightness that occurs with all of this... helped ease the majority of my reflux symptoms, little by little and I feel de-stressed as well. Going to refer to this anytime I forget how to do one of these, and I will share for my family and friends that deal with this, too.

I find solidarity knowing I'm not the only one dealing with tenseness and a tight chest. I have been experiencing reflux since June with tachicardia in the evening and consequent anxiety due to heart but my heart is good. So I stopped drinking white wine in the evening and eat early. This has caused me a lot of anxiety as I always fear the time of sleeping. Reflexology is also helping me. I don't know of the pandemic has its guilt. I hope that this yoga class will help me. Thanks

But the main thing was that I’ve been disconnected from my emotions for a while. After completing the 30 days of yoga yesterday, during this sequence I finally had a good, restorative, cry. I haven’t been able to for months and months. Thank you.

I have applied this heartburn treatment t.co/o6RSF9BxUj with great hopes and it helped me in ways that I still can`t comprehend. I didn`t experience any symptoms of acid reflux anymore. It is like I`ve never suffered with heartburn.

Hi there, I took Omeprazole and was on a heavy steroid for 2 months. I am thankfully off those now and trying to get back to ME. I am currently taking zinc and cut all coffee. I like sparking water and have cut that too due to the carbonation and well, a glass of red wine is just out of the question. (wahh!!) I now take zantac when I do not do well with the GERD diet but for the most part I am doing good and taking it seriously. I also highly recommend acupuncture for this- have you tried? x

I have changed my diet completely (no caffeine, spicy/fried foods, citrus, milk products - except probiotic yogurt) but I believe there's still some foods that I may be taking which triggers acid reflux. So best thing is to avoid such foods and increase the exercise and yogas .

Hi Adriene, I've been experiencing some acid reflux symptoms over the last week and a half and the most annoying, tight throat. Which of course causes a little anxiety so its a vicious cycle. I did this video for the first time last night and this morning (along with a round of prilosec) I started to feel better. I was wondering if you had more videos focused on acid reflux? I see lots of digestion but I'm trying to avoid inversion until my symptoms really calm down. Suggestions?

This yoga sequence was great as helped so much with feeling fit, stretching and staying strong with positive affirminations. I love that it focuses on being upright/ grounded/ playing around with balance and is the best routine I've watched so far that is soft but strong. Thank you again

I really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing!!! Your exercises truly assist with the recovery. I have some information to share for those dealing with acid reflux. After 5 years of dealing with GERD symptoms, several diets/medications that didn't work, countless endoscopies/colonoscopies, and 3 GI doctors I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The symptoms are very similar to GERD. In fact, doctors often misdiagnose GERD. Most people who were diagnosed with GERD are actually victims of IBS. The best thing for IBS patients to do is go on the low FODMAP diet. The low FODMAP diet can be a tricky one and sometimes certain foods slip through the cracks. That's when your amazing exercise videos come in handy. Also, in 2014 our wheat was genetically modified and the #1 symptom of a gluten intolerance is acid reflux. Your exercises help tighten the muscles around the esophagus. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Wow, I am so glad that I read this comment. I will turn 18 in a few days and It has been just over a year since I have acid reflux and it keeps going and coming back. This whole condition began right after my mother passed away last year, therefore, the doctors stated that i have this because of what has happened and that makes sense.
I have been aware of whatever foods I eat and I never really tried yoga - but I guess it may work to soothe the pain, so, I will begin doing yoga daily now. Anyways, I have been distressing so much because this acid reflux just wouldn't just go away. I also tried many medications such as lansoprazole and omeprazole and others and they do not work at all.
Lately, I have been feeling as if there is something stuck in my throat and sometimes my skin near the stomach tends to itche. I have no idea who to speak to and what to do but I am trying my best to be so healthy - I completely stopped drinking any fizzy drinks, stopped all sugary foods, fried foods, citrus foods, but not with dairy yet because apparently meant to help with acid reflux. I don't know. Anyone who reads this, please let me know what I should do because honestly it is the worst the worst thing to experience. And now with this current situation it so hard to even talk to the doctors. Let me know ASAP!

Sameena J how are you now. I started dealing with this a month in a half ago. After stressing and anxiety. And I had a lot of mucus and post nasal drip. Which I went to er they told me sinus infection and prescribed 6 day antibiotics. After that I started getting burning in throat, throat tightness, filling like some in it, and nauseous. Went to ENT and they diagnosed me with LPR (silent reflux). Gave me pantoprazole and famotidine max dose I took for only two weeks until I found out the side effects. How long did you stay on your meds.

    • @smekshamahay2748
      @smekshamahay2748 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Rosiland Tydus I’ve been on and off the meds like recently I’ve not been having them because as I’ve started to control my environment I realized that my health started to get better I started doing things like yoga and exercising daily and staying hydrated and just staying happy and I know it sounds silly but managing the environment you’re in often helps but I hope you get well soon too! I used to be exposed to quite a stressing environment that was also not helping my mental wellbeing and that all connects with my I kept having acid reflux.
I realized that whenever something bad happens at home or whenever I’m exposed to a stressful situation I get the pain then. So it is hard sometimes but at least I figured it out somehow.

I will share my experience with you all. I hope it will helps:
    1. Apple cider vinegar is not helping people who are having acid reflux because of obesity or stress. In that case, it makes it worse because you are having too much acid in the stomach.
    2. You have to start with proton pump inhibitors to control the initial condition and get off them gradually in 4 weeks. Like 1 per day then one every other day then twice a week and down to once a week.
    3. Zinc carnosine supplement helps a lot if taken 1st thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
    4. Losing weight helps a lot.
    5. Don't eat after 7 pm.
    6. Drink ginger tea made from real ginger.
    7. Take prebiotics and digestive enzymes with food.
    8. Avoid stress. Take ashwagandha.
    9. Avoid foods high in histamines as histamine signals the stomach lining cells to produce more acid. For example: avocado, walnuts and spinach.
