I watched all the videos for a week prior to this one. This video is THE best. Touched everything every other video mentioned and more. Clear breakdown to the left of the screen so fire thank you
I have had one for about 2 years and I have used it for a while. I have learned by trial an error. But I wanted to find out more about the gears and what to use with what line and how to play with spoil tensioner. You have such good education for this. Thank you for taking time and laying out how to make it more efficient. I can cast jigs a lot farther now. Appreciate you sir 🫡
I really enjoy the DC reels I have. Currently own the SlX DC, Curado DC, and old + new Scorpion DC's. They are really great for bombing out casts and love them!
As a general purpose rod that can also handle Pike I would suggest a Medium Heavy, Fast action rod with the Curado DC200. It may be a hair heavy for Walleye but it works really well for most bass and pike lure applications. The Curado Casting rods are a very good choice for this, they are well priced and perform well above their price point. I personally like longer rods so I would use the 7'5" MH but there is also a shorter version, either 7' or 7'2" MH that would fit the bill
Do you know the handle length for the HG and XG? Are the handle sizes (90 mm v 110 mm) and gears (brass v aluminum) going to be different from the JDM models?
Great video! Question is the 200 the same size as the 150DC? My 2nd question for you sir is what setting would you put it on if you use 50lb braid and 10’ of 20lb flouro leader what setting would use 1-4?
Obviously the Metanium DC is more refined with more bearings and the IDC5 controller but I have no issues with the Curado DC series as they are incredible performers and feel great. Both perform really well so it depends what you want to spend really
Any word on if these will be available in a LH retrieve in a 6 speed gear ratio or lower? The current available gear ratios seem a little high for Deep Cranking and Swim bait applications. But, to each their own.
My Curado DC 150 is a fine reel. I bought a Curado 150 MGL last fall. DC technology is great, it works but I much prefer the Curado MGL. I have a handful of only slightly better reels but they cost roughly twice as much.
Yes it can. The micro computer is completely water sealed but like anything in saltwater, proper maintenance and care will be critical to ensure long lasting performance.
Thanks for this video….I love my 150dc and was wondering if the 200 would be worth getting as well. Looks like a must have for my inshore fishing in SoCal.
For sure, casting big baits like glides and swimbaits, A Rigs and big deep cranks are also perfect for the new size. The inshore calico will be awesome as well on them
Does the curado 200 dc have more power over the 150 dc? Currently own a 150dc and a curado 200k. The curado 200k feels like it has more power and casting distance over my 150 dc. Does that sound right or is something wrong lol
Curado K doesn’t have the micro computer. They are not Digital Cast control reels. The Curado DC150 and DC200 are identical in specs expect for spool width which increases line capacity on the 200
This would be my first Shimano reel still not sure what to purchase. I would love to learn to use frog bait , flip and pitching under docks. What gear ratio do you recommend?
I just ordered two of these from digitaka in Japan for $370 total to my door.I am curious if these will be JDM models with handle or spool differences since they are sold under the curado and not scorpion name. Thanks for the video.
Typically it's spool diameter that is different as they use much lighter line in Japan but each region has different specs based on their fisheries so it's anyones guess. Did you compare the specs to the North American versions?
Just purchased DC151XG. Out of the box with no line on the spool the reel feels rough. I can feel the gears vibrating while reeling in retrieve. Plus the reel makes noise similar to reeling under load while spinning the reel in retrieve. Anyone else have this issue with thier Cirado DC? This is my first curado so I have no idea if this is normal or not due to the Micro Gears. My Daiwa Tatula Elite and Quantum Smoke 3 are both smooth and quiet. So I'm basing my experience with those 2 reels.
Is there a way to compare it to another? Maybe at a local shop that has inventory? I honestly have never noticed this but there is always a possibility that something may be wrong. Also try calling Shimano reel service to see if they can help you diagnose it.
Not quite the same as the line capacity is the difference. Both Scorpion and SLX are both 150 size reels. The Curado DC 200 was made for anglers looking for more line capacity.
I rarely get backlash issues, so I don't think it would be worth it to pay more for dc technology. I would of loved those starting off though! The all metal body is interesting though!
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors I started using a baitcaster at 11 years old. Im 37 now and I love reels such as Abu Garcia ambassadors. It's great to see products to encourage people to use a baitcaster. Much more accurate.
Minimized line capacity on a DC reel might be a tough sell to the engineers. Outside of skipping and pitching or light braid or wouldn’t have much application. I would sooner use the new Curado 150 MGL as it will be lighter and smaller than even a 70 with the new frame.
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors idkkk haha . The jdm slx is 70 sized and thats a hit .. i say us market needs to bring us some goods over here .. and more lefty options to .. run it by them i bet it sells

The problem with a bc and a spinning is similar. The last half of the line is useless. If you cannot cast it, probably best to use backing. 150 should be too much.
Any reel can handle stripers. Is it built for the purpose? Does it have big gears? Does it have fitting handles? I'm not here to argue but the guy at Shimano said it's for bigger lines and bigger lures. Now, what if I want to use standard to smaller lures? BCs themselves suck bc I have to carry a spinning for my 4 in. jerks, but I love BCs and I don't want to go to bfs. Telling you that you cannot have everything. Why would you buy a Curado if you're not just pitching and flipping? It doesn't cast as well as the highend stuff. Yah. We can talk reels all day. It really comes down to what you want to do and I think the Curado is limited, then they made it worse by making it 200 size. That's all I'm saying. All they needed to do is upgrade the Tranx or the Daiwa model? IDK, why would you have 7 or 8 models of the same reel, doing basically the same function? Why not make the Mentanium extra line capacity? That's the flagship. And nobody wants a DC that I know.

Either will really work. If you’re fishing smaller diameter line then go with the 150, bigger stuff, go with the 200

I notice when dc reel is spinned when on hand, the knob does not continue spinning like other baitcasters. Why is that. Thanks 😮
No bearings in the handles
What do you mean, no bearing on handle, is it that ordinary spinning reels have bearing on handle and dc do not. Thanks advance.

I use an arbor knot with tape on the knot
Awesome video. I just received mine in the mail today. I noticed that setting wheel 1-4 gets really stiff when turning it towards 4. Is that normal?
That’s the race being pushed downward into the brake pads. I’ve never really noticed it but o also don’t pay much attention to the force it takes
