I bought a scorpion dc 2017 because of all your videos on DC reels & Boy's & Gal's let me tell you I am personally glad I did. I am also very very new to bait casters & I bought a Lew's speed spool LFS the year before and I new nothing about a bait caster and I caught hell learning it. But with me buying the scorpion dc I fish & fish and have 80% backlashes etc compared to me using the lews. So if you are new to bait casters & can afford a DC reel I totally recommend buying one. And set the tension as in reel test video instructs you & you are off to casting & catching.. salute to all fishing lovers & tight lines. Reel Test I enjoy your content mostly you starting with scriptures Salute to you as well. Shalom.
You should have done the line capacity comparison the other way around. Put the line from the scorpion onto the slx reel. Then, measure the amount left that you couldn't fit on the slx. That way, you could just say , for example, the scorpion held "X" amount more line than the slx.
I ordered the JDM SLX DC XT after watching ur video earlier last month. Have not received it yet as it was a pre-order left hand in lower gear ratio. However, am looking forward to my first DC experience on a new Halo rod I recently purchased. Thanks for the great content. 2Poppa
Lighter ☑️ Less expensive ☑️ Newer ☑️ Cast further ☑️ Plenty of line for bass fishing ☑️ Did I mention Cast further ☑️ 1 Oz lighter that gets greater ☑️ All for $20-$40 more than a Curado 150 MGL and I get IDC5 sold. That is my new do everything reel. I can switch handles if I need to.
Just finished watching the Scorpion vs the SLX DC reels. Enjoyed it although I am not in the market for either one I just like gaining the knowledge if I get ready to buy one. Keep up the good work!
It's such a tough call for me between these 2 great reels. Same number of bearings, same drag, larger spool on the scorpion so appears to be slightly heavier duty. I can get both at the same exact price right now. I was wanting the latest Scorpion DC originally but then the 22 SLX came along. I'm kinda surprised Shimano upgraded the SLX to be almost exactly like the Scorpion DC. I wonder if the Scorpion DC will somehow soon get an upgrade as well? I do have the Shimano 21 Scorpion MD 300XGLH so I guess that could serve as my heavy duty caster and get the SLX for more lighter duty fishing?
I was really looking forward to buying the slx dc xt so I can throw lighter lures with dc. But from this, it seems like there’s pretty much no difference
Been watching your channel for years. I was primarily a Daiwa person (only Shimano for spinning still) but had a Steez A go rickety. I got it fixed but decided to try a high-end Shimano. Wanted something weird so I got a Conquest 2021. It will literally be hard to ever enjoy another reel. Amazing piece of equipment. Caught a 10lb drum and 21 inch largemouth on it, handles larger fish like nothing. I wondered if the new Bantam feels anything like the Conquest, I know the Bantam has the lower tier micro gears, but still has the new Infinity Drive and all bearings in the right spots.
I cant imagine anything better than the scorpion 17. Literally such a tank after years of service. Salt and fresh, big and small fish. Really want to try the scorpion 21 as my slx dc feels like a plastic poc
I love my 21’ scorpion dc, by far my favorite reel I own. Getting ready to buy another one in a 6:2 and came across the SLX sc xt and now I’m trying to decide 😂. Prob going with another scorpion since I already know I love it
Fairly new sub, I'm a shimano baitcaster reel junky!... I won't buy anything else. You turned me on to the JDM sites and wow what a difference from the US market... I've got my sites on the new slx dc xt. I first had the slx mgl 70 but didn't like the way it casted lighter line and baits so I'm hoping the newer slx dc xt is the answer I'm looking for. ✌
My personal opinion, I own the original scorpion DC, the new scorpion DC, The SLX DC, The curado 150 DC, and now the SLX XTDC, I believe there's no reason to buy any other than the XT DC now
The Slx dc wasn't as durable as I thought it should be. I had 3 that were all sent off for warranty repair: stripped drive shaft, DC module failure, drag spring+ cover failure.
Would it make sense to have both the Curado 150 Mgl and the Slx dc xt, one for more finesse applications and the other for power and heavier baits? Debating if I need both 🤔
@@DanaRosasJr. Yes, that would be the case I own them all. And I would say if you are looking to be more technique or lure style specific. Yes that's a very good option to go to to have the different levels of options
I'm still gonna buy the slx, even tho i dont need it 😅 looking at my new tranx 151 it shares similarities with it. The star drag and handle are unique compared to majority of shimanos. I usually upgrade to gomexus stars and 100 mm handles.
Thanks for the in depth details of both reel. I am tempted to trade out my curado dc 151 xg. I've allready used scorpion dc 151 xg before this. Just feel scorpion dc is to big and heavy for me. My question is that does both reel in this video have the same bearing count?
Believe they both have 7/1 but you can upgrade both. Stock the 21 scorp can improve with a bearing on the main reel handle shaft and the slx can improve with one on the worm gear shaft. I'm not sure if the scorp has one there but it maybe be able to get one on each spot. I a upgraded my 17 scorpion with a worm bearing and 2 more for the knobs. So now it's 10/1 bearing instead of 7/1 factory. I don't like bushings as much as bearings.
good video been waiting for this one. still missing the one thing that brings the slx reel down to me. is the screw holes that the higher end reels have hidden but visible on their 100-200 $ reels like the other slx's
Considering the 17 scorpion beat the 21 and the slx has a better spool I'd say this is the shit and a better scorpion 17 dc. I got a 17 scorpion and love it. Waiting on my micro gear set for it and then I'm going to look into this slx lighter spool once you can get parts for it. But it's essentially a improved 17 scorpion from the looks of it.
I have the Scorpion DC XG which is more suitable for my type of fishing. Surprisingly the SLX DC XT is price so close, probably due to the MGL spool III.
Need your opinion what one would you get if you couldn't get both the jdm scorpion monster drive or the jdm diawa tatula 400 and if this helps i am going fishing for salt water red fish
I have the Scorpion and it's kind of a bulky reel. I wanted the 150 size, but nothing wrong with adding a 70 size for flipping and pitching. Any application where you don't need a lot of line I think it's a better choice.
Is the slx dc xt fine for 50lbs braid flipping and pitching heavy cover jigs? Or is it more for light line and lures? I don't want to ruin the gears of a reel like that. Is the slx xt fine or should i get the new scorpion dc?
it can do everything the Scoprion DC can do but it just holds less line. the handle on the Scorpion is much beefier though. I think the Scorpion has brass gears while the SLX may have aluminum
Also could you tell me the weight of the slx dc xt spool compared to 17 scorpion dc spool? I am thinking about getting one for my scorpion but depending on how much of a difference it is will determine if I do it or not. Thanks
Two great reels but I just don't like the color on either. I have the 2017 scorpion DC with the nice black color and it's an amazing reel! May not be technically up to the newer version but it's still pretty awesome.
New scorpion seems to be over braked kinda, probably be a good skipping and flipping and pitching reel. 2017 scorpion was a nice do everything reel and smooth too without micromodule gears. I'm hoping to order the curado mgl 70 micromodule gears soon and putting those onto it.
DC is over rated owned every single one of them. Prefer my jdm steez reels. I cast with no brakes and loose spool. Took me years to master thumb. Teach yourself don't rely on technology to do it for you, it makes you lazy.
Like my steez hlc yes and thumb, no problem. I'll stick with it , my Daiwa HRF PE ( that nobody mentions , same magforce spool and drag 13 lb!?), my tat 400 and 2 komodos SS , STEEL 😂
Dude, it took TWO MINUTES to finally say “ i’m gonna show you the differences . . “ why not start the video immediately and dive deep into differences? 😅 too much rhetoric.

It's a 150 vs 70, 20 yard difference in 14lb line.
I know we are US, but grams are more accurate for both reels and spools

Have you gotten it yet? Thoughts?
Do a cast battle between the 22 Shimano bantam vs 20 Shimano metaniam please
2 different types of reels for different types of fishing.

Clearly, SLX XT is a way to go

I’m going to get both reels

This one is the XT. Should have substantially better quality than the cheap regular SLX reels 😂
Xt have aluminium body

@G__Mason I just used my Christmas gift cards to buy the 151, slower, but I burn n turn.

still waiting for the left hand retrieve XT to not be ridiculously priced.

recomended dc xt or scorpion sir?
Ótimo vídeo, me ajudou muito!

Hello, when you test new Shimano 22 exsence dc 2022
I’d love to pick up the Slx dc xt, but I can’t find it in left hand for less than $260 plus shipping, while the right hand is barely 200 shipped
I have the Scorpion DC XG which is more suitable for my type of fishing. Surprisingly the SLX DC XT is price so close, probably due to the MGL spool III.

Ill go for scropion dc i need line capacity no one knows if catch a big fish can bring the line empty
was the scorpion available on tacklewarehouse in 2021?
How can you do a challenge on a one reel is 150 and the other one is a 70 and the scorpion still comes short I think the scorpion wins

Without actually measuring it’s really hard to see how much difference in size in the camera.

Where do you get your JDM reels
watch this video th-cam.com/video/yR3iW2dvai4/w-d-xo.html
Has anyone been able to get a slx dc xt left handed HG or XG? It’s seems like every website only has the right handed ones
Is it Saltwaterresistant?
Yes
That’s everyone
Where can I find them at? What web site? Thanks
Digitaka, Asian Portal Fishing, Japan Lure Shop

Exsense wins hands down because it has all the features of the Antares DC in addition to the drag clicking sound which is lacking in the Antares DC.
