I’ve been following you for a few years now and you truly inspired me to do photography to the point I finally got a camera, now I’ve just been scared to actually start but this motivates me so much!!!
dont worry, just delete the photos you dont like, no one will know. Ted Forbes at The Art of Photography has some cool videos on composition - things like the layering Jessica mentions here. I had a friend who went to school for photo and he said, you take a lot of pictures and some turn out
you are the ONLY photographer on you tube , who actually almost on each press of the shutter shows the stunning picture. and a looot of them , not just one for each location or changing the pose. You are simply awesome!!
I have shot with Georgia when she was in Australia a few years ago. She was such a great model to work with. It is surreal to see her pop up on videos of people I follow. Your photos are excellent. Great video!
Great video again. Interesting that Georgia mentioned "Sniping" . I think it is becoming more of an issue now, and might be worth being the topic of a future video. Where spectators with phones or cameras start taking shots without permission of the photographer or the model. And sometimes they are even trying to get shots at inappropriate angles for the model. It needs to stop.
I appreciate you noticing that! Unfortunately there are no laws preventing people from taking photos in public places, even though it does make us uncomfortable. There have been instances where unknown photographers have taken pictures of me during my shoots, only to later tag me or use those images on their websites as part of their portfolio. That being said, Jess always does a great job at protecting her models and making us feel comfortable and safe. I hope this matter becomes more addressed in the future!
In US it is legal to photograph and videotape anybody in a public place where there’s no expectation of privacy - basically streets and parks. In private places you need to ask permission. It it illegal and criminal to photograph people without their consent if there’s an exception of privacy - like through a window of somebody’s house or with a drone when they’re in the backyard.
Being more and more a concern in cosplay conventions too. Before (around 2012), peope just take pictures and whatever. Now, since 2019, people have to ask for permission for a picture. It's just the bare minimum of respect. And I like it better that wait, as a cosplayer.
How's this "becoming more of an issue" now ? I mean street photographers whole shtick is to take pictures of random strangers on the streets. Without asking. In most countries, public places there's nothing illegal about taking a picture of somebody. As long as you don't make it socially awkward I guess that you can put up a harassment claim. Having other people stop and look at what your doing when you e doign a shoot in public, having a camera man/woman, MUA all hovering a couple of people does attract attention. Especially in a situation like this during hanami where 10000's of people are here photographing people and sakura alike. It's just the norm really. If you don't like it as a photographer or can't handle it, don't shoot in public.
Please keep making photoshoot vidoes jess! I know they dont get as many views but I've always loved watching them, you and Irene Rudnyk are the main reasons as to why I fell in love with portraits.
The advert that followed your video on YT, for me was "Wow, wow. Wow . wow " and I thought, yes, I agree! 😂 stunning shots and model, as always. A few that were so artistic and enjoyable I'm sad more people won't see them... fellow artist here, and Jessica appreciation club ✌️👋🤩💕🇬🇧
There's always history with odd laws. I suspect when it was allowed, kids and some adults would reach for a branch and bear their weight into it. Obviously this could cause a tree branch to snap and kill off the blossom tree.
Hi Jessica! I am a huge fan of your work. I was wondering if you could do a video explaining the differences and types of the camera lenses, I always struggle with that. I see that you use the 50 mm lens a lot for portraits but I would love to know why and to know more about other ones. Please xx
You've been my inspiration from the get-go. I even got the same camera as you because of you! just wish I had more confidence with people and wasn't so afraid of taking no good photos in a shoot, this leads me to not even organize a shoot unless I know the person. I Spent all this money on the kit and it feels frustrating to be held back by anxiety and low self-esteem. Also my photos are never pin sharp, and I've tried all the tips people give and they still just look noisy and bad quality except maybe the odd one and I don't understand why. This just adds to my fear of delivering awful images to a client.
I have the same problem with sharpness - not sure why. Maybe it's your camera's autofocus? But if you have the one she has it should be great, so I don't know... My previous camera had terrible autofocus so I ended up not having sharp photos more than half of the time. My new camera is better :) Also, the lighting makes a huge difference! I find shooting in direct/harsh sunlight actually makes my photos sharper! (Not that it's always the look I'm going for, but it's nice sometimes)
Hey Courtney! I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with focusing and image quality. Could you share with me your image settings at all? And focus points?! I could make a video to help with the best settings I use, let me know what would be helpful. I’ll try to guide you through it, you got this!!
@@JessicaKobeissi HEY! thankyou so much, it means the world to me that you would help me. ofc i'm I am more than happy to send you my settings, do you want me to post them here or email/send them to you another way? I'm also in the process of getting my lens checked to make sure the issue is definitely something I'm doing. xx
@@CourtneyLeighannaE Sorry I missed them! Please email them over if you can :) My email is in the "about" section on youtube - or feel free to DM me on instagram!
The best thing I heard about photography is "try to answer a question: is this a beautiful photo or is it a photo of something beautiful?" These two are not mutually exclusive, but all photos I saw it this video are much more in the second category for me.
Jessica I always enjoy these photography tutorials of your more than the ANTM videos. The ANTM videos aren’t bad, but I think your ANTM to tutorial ratio is lopsided
Come to Vancouver, BC on April we have lots of Sakura trees all over the city and around the parks and you can stay under the trees whenever you please.
Her outfit is so cute! Do you have the models dress themselves or do you supply outfits? I want to get into modeling, but I can’t really afford outfits and dressing myself which is difficult when you want to start modeling
Really nicely done explanations with great demonstrations. Do you spot meter the face when you shoot the full on, direct sun shots? Thanks again for this really well-done demo! BTW, it's interesting that it's cold enough there to be wearing a heavy coat already. Here in Pennsylvania it's currently 80 degrees F!! LOL! Take care and have a great week!
Love your Pictures and your charming way you take them. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. May I ask you what kind of focus method you use? It don’t look like backbutton-focus. I always have trouble to get eyes sharp wide open.
Amazing video! I love how you explained your process for portrait photography. I was wondering your reasoning for changing the iso from 100 to 160 for some of the photos instead of dropping the shutter speed. I was also curious if you shoot in manual, aperture priority, or shutter priority when you do portraits.
So amazing I wish I could be this good, I shoot my daughter at her cheer performances but it's on sports mode I just press the shutter 😂 if I get one picture it's a win for me 😅
04:10 I sincerely hope you were joking when you started saying “oh, please don’t-“ when you thought someone was photographing the model 😂 can’t tell someone not to take your photo in public!
Here in Brazil we have cherry trees too, but unfortunately we end up pruning the lower branches, making it impossible for us to take pictures sitting on the ground or near it
How can the pics come out sharp if your that close at 1.4? I'm used to wildlife photography and being far away, but I'd like to start doing portraits. Any helpful advice from anyone is welcome!
why people in japan have these long lenses to just shoot trees im pretty sure i saw 800mm lens there shooting trees another 200-600mm lens there idk maybe they think longer lens takes better picture 😐

honestly!! Jessica is such a good communicator with the model when shooting, makes an major difference in a shoot

I think your last concern is the biggest worry of models. You don't know how the person taking the shots is going to use or misuse the images.
I appreciate you noticing that! Unfortunately there are no laws preventing people from taking photos in public places, even though it does make us uncomfortable.
