The great thing about Tokyo or Hongkong is the streets itself makes a great prop, and it is easier to isolate the subject. But you are really good to guide your models and get the best out of them. and your post-edit is very superb. Keep up the good work.
Her posing is fantastic and your direction is so good!! As an amateur photographer, this session is soooo informative, thank you so much for sharing this with us.
I am an amateur photographer in Tokyo and I shoot models on weekends. You are shooting Japanese models in Japan and yet I feel you have a unique perspective that is different from Japanese photographers. I could learn a lot from your photos…
I have shot in Tokyo and I don't really see a different than much of anything. I have met and talked to amateur Japanese photographers also and have known some professionals. All of the work is basically similar, it comes down to skill and the model and the makeup. Sometimes you get to use really good imagination and other times there's not much to work with and you basically just shoot what you see. Some models are not good with movement so you have to try to make some magic and make their angles more dynamic. I shot my friend in Tokyo a few months ago and I love her face for portrait but she does not move very well so many of the pictures were not good. Many of the best shoots you see is either because the photographer can make magic without much to work with or the production has all of the pieces in place like the model the style the location and help to be able to make a good shoot. かんぱお
The title made me think of actual street photography, and I thought you were doing something new. 😁 "Street Portraits" would be more accurate. Always love your work!
Love the video! It actually convinced me to get the 24-105 f4 when I noticed even though you were shooting on the 24-70 2.8 you rarely ever went below F4. I was debating about getting the 24-105 f2.8 but I just felt it was too big and I don't really make money off photography so it doesn't seem worth. I do feel it's time for a step up from the stock lens and the 50mm I've been using. Now after seeing what you do and how you keep it around f4-f5 I'm convinced the 24-105 f4 is more than enough for what I want to do. (You were shooting on a the EF versions but I have an R8 so ima probably get the RF versions) Anyway love the content, thanks for the inspiration! lol
I'm happy for Jessica and have to admit frustrated as well. Everything in this video I have done in Tokyo since 2015. I reached out to Japanese photographers and Americans who work in Japan and they have been absolutely unhelpful and unwilling to give information and tips on how to succeed. Literally everything you see in this video I've done 100 times. I've also been shooting Fashion Week for 10 years. I've watched influencers go from nobody to somebody. I have actual real media credits to my name. But no opportunities from all my work. :/ The internet's and the social medias are of finicky beast. Your account either gets chosen or it doesn't ...and it's really sad because I put a lot of time and thousands of dollars into my Japan projects and they haven't caught fire. I get to see everybody else doing the same work but they are reaping rewards from it and I'm still trying to make a name for myself even with my network their etc. Again I'm not mad at her, I'm glad she can profit off of her work. I'm still looking to be able to at least cash in on some credit and opportunities. Cheers all. Life isnt supposed to be fair, and my work is a shining example.
A lot of it is personality and social media. Got both? In terms of not finding photographers to give information and tips on how to succeed, I highly doubt that. There’s a ton of professional photographers on here. If you’ve been shooting fashion week for ten years, you should be the one giving tips as well. Do ya?
I get a stuck rotating filter (like your CPL, or a VND) loose by wrapping a wide rubber band around it. That gives you more grip and tends to lock the rotating part to give you the needed torque. It never fails for me. Good luck with it! 🙂
Jess! You should come with me to Fashion Week one day! Would love to see how you shoot in a more hectic Environment🤩 I def need to shoot more horizontally. I‘m such a vertical girly😅
Unsubscribed a while ago. I used to love your vlogs, but could not care less about all of the ANTM content. I’m sure making those videos had something to do with covid messing up your shoots. I see you’re posting more photography vlogs lately and hope you’ll get back to that as I find them to be really good and always want to support fellow Michigan creatives.
I never use a polariser for portraits. It really doesn't help. Landscape, architecture (especially involving glass), automotive I use a polariser. I noticed Jess switched from landscape to portrait orientation with her camera without adjusting the polariser, which completely negates what little effect it does have in these situations. The polariser will also lose some light, forcing you to up the ISO or shutter speed when there is less light around. Love the pics overall though. Composition was nice, model was great. The backlit shot with lens flare 👌
It was on the lens because it was stuck and she could not remove it.If you watched the whole video. lol. I was actually puzzled at first. What a twist.
@@j5daniel182 I did watch the whole vid. I mentioned the backlit photo with the flare - which is where she mentions the stuck filter. She used the polarizer for another portrait shoot in a previous video. A lens filter wrench is a couple of dollars.
What shooting mode are you using, M, S, A, P or full Auto? Your settings seemed very inconsistent so I just wondered, not that any of them are wrong, whatever gets you the shot. Keep it up!
I will stay away from mirrorless as long as I can..... it might seem funny, but the fact is that even a model benefits from hearing the shutter, it creates a (slight) bond + understanding between the shooter and photographer. Both know what is happening and when its happening with a heavy click/click/click confirmation.....
Hilarious! whole video i was thinking what the CPL was for. lol. you can remove the CPL by taking off you shoe, Pressing your lens downwards towards the rubber sole and twisting the camera. Do this a few times and then you can try twisting the filter again by hand. It should have loosened up.
Gotta admit, the title is a bit misleading but I watched the whole thing because I have the same camera. I don’t have that lens so I was curious how the photos turned out, and I know now which lens I need to buy next lol. The polarizer filter made a difference it seems. Can you share which brand that is?
How much does it help to have a model posing with experience? Also take anyone with no photography experience taking a picts of a good looking girl snd that is it!!
It's definitely not street photography, she did mess up on that title. Otherwise .. catalogs and big labels? Yeah they actually shoot in the street as well. I worked for a magazine and have always been attached to editorial, yes shooting featured images in the street is a thing.
Shooting screen 4:03 Photographing models on the road is very dangerous and occupying the road is a violation of the Road Traffic Act in Japan. As a basic requirement for professional photographers, it is your responsibility to ensure the safety of your models and follow the law. Above all, it is very dangerous for you as the photographer. When shooting with the Canon EOS5D IV viewfinder, you cannot see the rear view, so it is dangerous because you cannot see passing vehicles and people!! If you want to temporarily occupy the sidewalk or road for commercial purposes, you may need to apply for permission in advance from the local police.
the he11 is this? this isnt street photography, its half take street portraits that you ask someone on the street spontaneously and the model agrees, to walk around the block and take snapshots
Are you seeing this correctly? This is a sanctioned shoot. This isn't some random person off of the street. Even if it was a street portrait is a street portrait. It's definitely not street photography that's just a bad label.
I love the sound of the shutter. It’s so calming.
yeahhh the feels is different from what we get from mirrorless!
@@kuanishere mirrorless is technically superior but it’s not physically superior.
@bngr_bngr maybe technically better but the look of the photo with mirrorless sometimes lacks
@@kh894 I see no difference from images taken on the Canon 1Dx series vs the Canon R6II. If compared to the Canon 5d there is a difference.
@@bngr_bngr mirrorless has better AF, but quality of photos is just same
Love Jessica, she is real professional photographer who loves and understand photo, not like many bloggers who just buys new cameras.

NEW JESSICA KOBEISSI POST 🚨
Always nice to see Jessica still rocking the 5D... Even with a lens with her filter stuck she goes with the flow lol. Its never about the gear!
Such a great model. I’m learning from her as well.
I like your style and your photos Jessica. Really relaxing photoshoot. Manami did also great. Like the name a lot.
Yesss I missed your shooting vids !!!
"maybe you live in Japan, that's all you need" 😭 brb crying

Jessica always inspires me so much 💗🥲🐇✨
Always love watching you work, Jessica! I've learned a lot from you. Great job!
It is quite amazing to have a model capable of offering a wide range of poses and adapt on the spot. Great tips, found this video very useful.
4:08 can't believe you did the dog hand sign on her :D
Beautiful model! Great place to shoot!
This was lovely! Thank you for sharing!
What a green model! Nice work!!!

Thank you Jessica for another banger of a video 🫡
when other photographer influencer has using mirrorless camera. Jessica still rockin with her dslr body, i feel it too, i feel comfortable using dslr
the model has a stunning face with perfect bones structure. Her height and the body ratio is gorgeous too. Btw, she did really well!!!

Love you building rapport with Manami as well. Very sweet!
These are stunning. Amazing as always
Very educational and professional. I love photography, it truly is more than just taking a picture.. Keep it up Jessica! 💕

1. I only shoot outfit pics with my phone for fun but it inspires me for poses and angles to see this !
2. is Masaki san single 👁️ lmao
The wide angle works well for the low angle shots, but not so much for the eye-level portraits

Does this make Jessica a “noted” and “world renowned” fashion photographer?
How often are you switching between focal lengths? You should definitely do more shoots in Japan!

Street photography or outdoor portrait?

That 5D sounds like a clock.
higher resolution video would be nice. Its hard to appreciate the photos when theyre this low res
Can you take photo of unphotogenic people pls, I have asymetrical face maybe I could learn someting or two
Lol, I'm not going to get hit by a car today.
Begs the question: Have you been hit by a car during a photoshoot? 😊
That is on location portrait, not street photography. Otherwise great video.
Either your hands are tiny or that setup is huge lol.
Jessica looks like a pretty tiny human ☺
Jessica is cute but she dresses like a 90s skater groupie!
Ha ha ha……. What a B…..
