I literally have 4 of those quads. Just finished completely restoring one a couple weeks ago. I love being able to switch to the super low gearing with the flick of a lever. Still one of the best, most capable off-road quads to date. They don't make'm like they used to. You'd might want to think twice about flipping this one.
We got to get y’all on the Polaris trail boss 350 and 400 2 strokes they stand up in low gear by punching the throttle there super light and is true 4x4 my 350 will do 60 and is one of the most reliable things I have ever seen. You ever have a four wheeler start up after sitting for 14 years first pull after cleaning a carb lol I love them and will never sell my 350 it beats renegade 1000s of the line and a 400 beat a stock blaster off the line and had it till about 50
The fourtrax are easy to get going. I just grabbed one sitting for 18 years a few months ago. Looked rough as heck. The tank was the most varnished tank I’ve ever come across but after a quick carb clean and fresh battery it started right up. After an oil/differential change it outperformed my arctic cat 500 4x4 snow plowing my driveway. Those things are tanks!
My grandpa had one of these and I am going to fix it up. It’s sitting outside but ran when parked. My dad used to haul out huge loads of firewood out of the woods when I was a kid. This machine is a monster with differential lock and super low
I really like how quickly and methodically you diagnose these things. On a side note, you don't have to worry about getting chewed up by mosquitos. Nice job Joe. I loved this video! Keep up the good work! 👏 👍
Run some Seafoam via the gas tank. Its magic juice for all engines. Put a few cap fulls of Lucas engine stabiliser in the oil crank case too. It works miracles.
You should do the cheapest enduro for sale and do a complete budget build on it! I’m hooked on your videos! I’m going back and watching all the builds I missed!
I remember back in like,84' my mom said to me," your cousin just got a quad runner" i'm thinking "whats a quad runner"? Lol guess they turned out to be a hit.
Just because something has good compression doesn't mean the oil scraper rings aren't compromised I'm in ATV mechanic and I do this stuff for a living and I've seen it hundreds of times where a bike has good compression but the oil scraper rings are wore out causing it to burn oil so just because it has compression does not mean that the oil scraper rings aren't compromised the way to tell if it's a leaky valve seal or rings a valve seal will smoke when you initially start the bike and then it will go away but if it's the oil scraper ring then when it warms up it'll start smoking more
Damn near identical to my late 80’s quadrunner. Got mine running after years sitting out in the elements. Was a great quad for many years to me took lots of abuse.
i found one of those that sat outside in the bush for over 15y in a abandoned illegal weed grow up at 200 feet from salt water inlet... fern growing through the seat, and compost in the fuel tank... i cleaned it, put fresh gas and it started with a few pull! the only thing i had to change was the needle valve and one oil seal, these machine are really incredible, and i put 1600 more miles on it... it was the king quad 300 1993... which is the exact same machine wire for wire screw for screw except for the suspension... boy was it ever rough!
Yes sir what a nice and very reliable ATV I bought my 1999 Suzuki King Quad back in January I had to drive from Acworth Georgia to Georgetown Tennessee well worth the trip I got mine for $800.00 it only had 1900 miles on it and it ran I had to fix the wheel bearings on the back and had to replace the back brakes and but another battery but that was all I still got it and it's running strong I wouldn't take anything for mine I have been wanting to buy one for a long time but yes sir very cool ATVs love all of your videos keep them coming.
I wonder what your neighbors are thinking when they see a huge puff of smoke coming from your yard...🤣 Cool quad though, I'm excited to see the tecate race👍
Hi just picked up a pretty mint kodiak 400. Its really clean but I believe the carb needs cleaned out because the fuel mixed with the gas when I left the fuel on. Anyway your videos gave me the confidence to take this task on. Thanks!
Sold a King Quad 300 2yrs. ago for $500 cause I was sick of constantly pissing around with the brakes + it was a dog and couldn't outrun cops. So the kid I sold it to sold it to another kid, he painted the rims black and now it's on Marketplace for $1900... good, I don't miss it!
I love those quad runners and king quads. I currently have 92 king quad. They run forever if treated right. I'd never own another atv then one of these. And ive owned and been around many
Hey man I own a 2wd and a 4x4 quadrunner both 93s, the motor is very reliable. But alot of times the electrical problems are the fuses right next to the battery. Very easy fix
I bought 6 Suzuki quadrunners to fix and sell, one sadly gave its life so the others may live. I still prefer my Yamaha but they seem to be good little bikes
I'm glad your doing a video on this I got a 1997 I bought for 180 the guy said it ran but carb was dirty I got it home and the pick up coil is bad so it pays to check every thing bc now I got to take the whole side of the motor off lol
at 9:13 when you put the battery back down a nice colony of ANTS decided to come out to play :D At 10:16 you can see a few running around with their eggs!
Hey that battery charger u have I have the same one i noticed if it's to low on power it wont alow it to charge if u jump the battery for just a sec could save u alot of money on batteries not saying that it works everytime but sometimes it does
I had a bike that was making over 200 lb compression but it burned oil like no tomorrow and the oil scraper rings ended up being way under speck causing it to burn oil even though it had arm ripping compression
I grew up on a Suzuki Quadrunner 250 4x4 i only got that sucker stuck once because it high centered on a log very capable machines i used to pull truck to the back 40 with it took it in deep sludgy swamp mud up to the seat often it would go through more than my buddys can am 850 and his grizzly 700
My dad bought the same year and same color model one back brand new in 2000. Those ATVs have an auto clutch which is probably stuck or the linkage might just be shot, I've replaced both on my dad's. Also to put it in 4x4 you usually have to put it in neutral then kick it up into 1st gear and it'll go into 4x4.
Why wouldnt you fix the bent bar and put the dash board closed,? It would keep snow, ice, and rain out of it? Also, what did you do to fix the shift rod? You mentioned it was stripped or something
I always wondered what the hell people are thinking when they cut a bunch of wires. Ohhh, it's not running anymore. Let me just cut all these wires. Yup, that should fix it!
Low on compression just add wd40 and pretend it restores compression lmao. Choke on full smoking like a chimney and you say running pretty good actually lmao.
I know you are very smart at fixing these old machines but in my experience white smoke is burning antifreeze…blue smoke is burning oil…and black smoke is running rich
One of the grandkids of the previous owner grabbed the gas can for the weed eater or chainsaw and dumped it in lol. That or he didn't wanna run to the store and knew it wouldn't hurt anything and kill mosquitoes.
Seems like a cool ATV, but kind of complicated, I'm not a fan of the rear engine design looks weird to me, but there is alot of cool features to this bike though!
Polaris does have diff lock. Its locked all the time. Polaris patent it. Thats why all the other company's have a separate lever to lock the dif cause they cant get around the polaris patent.

I LITTERALLY JUST GOT A 1996 QUAD RUNNER 250 4X4 RUNS OFF STARTING FLUID PAIS 360!!!!
And you still got a better deal then me🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you need another transmission or any parts I have the exact same model as a parts quad rn
If you need an air box I got one
If you need any parts for it like the key fob and whole dashboard just lmk
I literally have 4 of those quads. Just finished completely restoring one a couple weeks ago. I love being able to switch to the super low gearing with the flick of a lever. Still one of the best, most capable off-road quads to date. They don't make'm like they used to. You'd might want to think twice about flipping this one.
When you lock the diffs an put that bitch in 4 low it's super low. Love these bikes. A little heavy but then would go through some mud tho.
An I wouldn't get rid of it if I was him.
We got to get y’all on the Polaris trail boss 350 and 400 2 strokes they stand up in low gear by punching the throttle there super light and is true 4x4 my 350 will do 60 and is one of the most reliable things I have ever seen. Best quads ever made in my opinion
The fourtrax are easy to get going. I just grabbed one sitting for 18 years a few months ago. Looked rough as heck. Yeah they seem pretty reliable!
they are
Hey I just got a pit bike I clean the carb what do u recommend to do so it will turn on i order a new kick start because it was worn out
@@manulzzz1v992 watch a diagnostic video to see what the possible problems could be
Yes they are I have 2 myself
That is definitely some kind of fancy heel/toe shifter it’s got there!!
My grandpa had one of these and I am going to fix it up. It’s sitting outside but ran when parked. My dad used to haul out huge loads of firewood out of the woods when I was a kid. This machine is a monster with differential lock and super low
I've literally tugged whole trees home
We should call it Vector, I don't think there's a mosquito left alive in your general vicinity. Good job Joe !
🤣👍🏻
I really like how quickly and methodically you diagnose these things. On a side note, you don't have to worry about getting chewed up by mosquitos. Nice job Joe. I loved this video! Keep up the good work! 👏 👍
Run some Seafoam via the gas tank. Its magic juice for all engines. Put a few cap fulls of Lucas engine stabiliser in the oil crank case too. It works miracles.
One small step for Joe, one huge leap for Suzuki lovers!
You should do the cheapest enduro for sale and do a complete budget build on it! I’m hooked on your videos! I’m going back and watching all the builds I missed!
In Canada you could get 2500 - 3k all day for that quad.
($1950-$2300 USD.)
I remember back in like,84' my mom said to me," your cousin just got a quad runner" i'm thinking "whats a quad runner"? Lol guess they turned out to be a hit.
Damn u got a steal! I use to have that same quad it’s a beast with the high low and super low diff lock!!
Just because something has good compression doesn't mean the oil scraper rings aren't compromised I'm in ATV mechanic and I do this stuff for a living and I've seen it hundreds of times where a bike has good compression but the oil scraper rings are wore out causing it to burn oil so just because it has compression does not mean that the oil scraper rings aren't compromised the way to tell if it's a leaky valve seal or rings a valve seal will smoke when you initially start the bike and then it will go away but if it's the oil scraper ring then when it warms up it'll start smoking more
Dude those Suzuki's were the best machines ever.
Yeah they are built pretty well!
This Suzuki’s and the 300s there some of the strongest quads out there you should do a 300 build
It does make sense when you pump oil into your nice gauge.
these quads indestructable
Damn near identical to my late 80’s quadrunner. Got mine running after years sitting out in the elements. Was a great quad for many years to me took lots of abuse.
I had the 350, my dad had a 250. Same basic bike, lot of fun in the woods.
its nice to get a good deal on something that has simple fixes once in awhile
Yes!
This had success story written all over it right of the bat! Nice work👍
OMG The smoke is so funny I can't stop laughing. Run it till the wheels fall off
Oh the memories! Our family had a '94 in blue.
I laughed when he said it was a little smokey.
Same!
Those are pretty great little quads. Had a 97 model, pretty much go anywhere. Easy to fix.
i found one of those that sat outside in the bush for over 15y in a abandoned illegal weed grow up at 200 feet from salt water inlet...
fern growing through the seat, and compost in the fuel tank...
i cleaned it, put fresh gas and it started with a few pull! the only thing i had to change was the needle valve and one oil seal, these machine are really incredible, and i put 1600 more miles on it...
it was the king quad 300 1993... which is the exact same machine wire for wire screw for screw
except for the suspension... boy was it ever rough!
Those quadrunners are bullet proof! Onw thing to keep in mind is that the rear storage box lids love to fall off in middle of the bush.
Yeah i hear they are very reliable!
Awesome find!! Can’t wait to see the Yamaha 450r in action.
Too much seafoam in the gas will smoke like that. I wouldn't be surprised if he dumped a bunch in thinking it'd fix it after his grandkids broke it
Tried to fix it with mechanic in a can.
These are amazing bikes and were way more comfortable on a all day ride then other bikes of the time.
I wonder what your neighbors are thinking when they see a huge puff of smoke coming from your yard...🤣 Cool quad though, I'm excited to see the tecate race👍
Haha I wonder the same thing! It was pretty bad lol
You need a better battery charger. That little 1 amp trickle charger you have won't bring a dead battery back to life.
Now keep in mind sometimes critters can get in those exhaust pipes and make nest also
the 4x4 ones of these are awesome, they have difflock, high, low, super low
Yeah they are pretty cool with al the different settings
Excellent Mechanic , photographic memory 💪💯
Good buy. I don't think that was a battery anymore, only an ant house 9:12
Bro ur house is sick and ur yard!
Keep up the good work
Hi just picked up a pretty mint kodiak 400. Its really clean but I believe the carb needs cleaned out because the fuel mixed with the gas when I left the fuel on. Anyway your videos gave me the confidence to take this task on. Thanks!
Congratulations on 200k
Thank you!
That things idle adjustment is way high lol
Sold a King Quad 300 2yrs. ago for $500 cause I was sick of constantly pissing around with the brakes + it was a dog and couldn't outrun cops. So the kid I sold it to sold it to another kid, he painted the rims black and now it's on Marketplace for $1900... good, I don't miss it!
I love those quad runners and king quads. I currently have 92 king quad. They run forever if treated right. I'd never own another atv then one of these. And ive owned and been around many
Wow that's one of your best financially
Smokes like an old Ford 😂😂
Hey man I own a 2wd and a 4x4 quadrunner both 93s, the motor is very reliable. But alot of times the electrical problems are the fuses right next to the battery. Very easy fix
I bought 6 Suzuki quadrunners to fix and sell, one sadly gave its life so the others may live. I still prefer my Yamaha but they seem to be good little bikes
haha at least 5 of them survived!
Bend that bar off the speed o would help a lot u think
I got one of those four-wheelers. At least you got one with good Plastics because the Plastics alone cost like $600
Yeah i was happy that the plastics were actually good on this one.
My buddy use to have one an when you Locked the diffs an 4 low that bitch is a monster. Nice score.
I'm glad your doing a video on this I got a 1997 I bought for 180 the guy said it ran but carb was dirty I got it home and the pick up coil is bad so it pays to check every thing bc now I got to take the whole side of the motor off lol
I have that same crappy red gas can from lowes.. I don't use it anymore with the included spout. Only with a jiggler siphon hose now. Much easier.
Its coolant, white smoke, blue smoke will indicate burning oil.
Well said
Sweet man, can't wait to see you ride it at your parents place. Good job 👍
at 9:13 when you put the battery back down a nice colony of ANTS decided to come out to play :D

I had a bike that was making over 200 lb compression but it burned oil like no tomorrow and the oil scraper rings ended up being way under speck causing it to burn oil even though it had arm ripping compression
The valve seats where probably no good letting oil leak down into the combustion chamber.
May I ask what it was ??
Those old quad runners are hard to kill.
Nice episode but your neighbors dogs OMG. A friend of my dad's had an 80s quad runner. Ran pretty good for how old it was.

The wire that’s cut is for the high beams
Why wouldnt you fix the bent bar and put the dash board closed,? It would keep snow, ice, and rain out of it? Also, what did you do to fix the shift rod? You mentioned it was stripped or something
Awsome video!!!
Great job and great deal.
I always wondered what the hell people are thinking when they cut a bunch of wires. Ohhh, it's not running anymore. Let me just cut all these wires. Yup, that should fix it!
Really enjoyed this video !! Thank you !!
With that smoking like that you won't have to worry about mosquitoes 😂
I see a new throttle cable in order
Time to do a ring job and valve seals I saw some scaring in the cylinder when you scoped it
Tough machines. Love my king quads
Smokes like Uncle Bucks Mercury Marquis Brougham 😂😂😂
We need deals like that in the uk that would be £1000 over here
On full choke trying to bring the idle down
I would say that would be valve stem seals. My pitbike used to have a lot of white smoke and was spitting oil
That thing is almost identical to the Arctic Cat 300 that I'm sitting on. I've had this bike since 02 and have done very little to supper reliable...
Low on compression just add wd40 and pretend it restores compression lmao. Choke on full smoking like a chimney and you say running pretty good actually lmao.
He probably put some premix gas for a 2 stroke in it. If you dont label the gas cans its easy to forget what kind of gas you had in it.
19:30 smoking like a fright Train runs good actually 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah been looking for 4 wheelers for two years now can’t find one that easy
These machines are tanks, I have a 300 model and I've out mudded 500 before
That LT 300 E won't sry hood with electric start. But fires right up with pull start, must be another Suzuki thing.
I know you are very smart at fixing these old machines but in my experience white smoke is burning antifreeze…blue smoke is burning oil…and black smoke is running rich
Someone's junked the airbox, bet the carbs not been jetted.....
That gas had 6 cans of sea foam in it lol
exactly what I was thinkin' lol
Great deal.😊Already know your plans on the rm125?🙂
Smokes like a hippie.
That thing smokes like the Honda magna 500 I picked up a couple weeks ago.
Yeah smokes a little lol
What a steal
suzuki ltf300 , These bike are bullet proof . one of the best bike best built air box missing is the high air intake there
Nice job man love this content
Thanks!
Looks like seafoam smoke
That rear axle looks rooted aha looks to have been rolled by the looks of it
One of the grandkids of the previous owner grabbed the gas can for the weed eater or chainsaw and dumped it in lol. That or he didn't wanna run to the store and knew it wouldn't hurt anything and kill mosquitoes.
Seems like a cool ATV, but kind of complicated, I'm not a fan of the rear engine design looks weird to me, but there is alot of cool features to this bike though!
The old Honda 300 and 350 have a low gear it’s first gear but if you read trans it’s low 1 2 3 4
Polaris does have diff lock. Its locked all the time. Polaris patent it. Thats why all the other company's have a separate lever to lock the dif cause they cant get around the polaris patent.
I'm currently battling a Polaris Sportsman that has no electrical power. I wish mine was that easy to fix.
Yesh electrical can be tricky. This one was easy. I got lucky on it.
I've seen less smoke burning a tire pile.
hahaha very true
