This might be THE fighting game for me. I just can't help but worry that it's yet another fighter that the western players will completely ignore, which will result in no people to play with in my area :( (looking at Melty and KOF). I hope that content creators such as yourself gives this game a push with some events and that SNK nails the marketing and launch 🙏great video man! thanks for the new footage.
We just have to hope Max and Obama team up to found a Nation of the Wolves
If SNK somehow nails all the aspects: gameplay and graphics, good matchmaking and netcode, good tutorials and trials; and western players still ignore it?
I don't ever want to see any of them complain about SF6 or Tekken or Strive ever again.
Unfortunately I fear that'll be the case, the equivalent of people who complain about gaming being 'dead' then they reveal they only play shit like COD or FIFA.
All we gotta do is buy the game screenshot the steam player numbers at their highest. Hope they're higher than x fighting game and post side by sides on Twitter and reddit. Then everyone will be like damn my game must suck they'll come play this further boosting player count. Rinse and repeat.
@@chimby8494 when did that happen?
It just needs a solid netcode and crossplay man. If it can nail that it'll do fine, assuming the gameplay holds up.
Of all the games coming out in the future, THIS is the one I'm the most interested in. When I was really getting into fighting games a couple years ago and just sort of playing through a whole bunch of classics with friends Garou was one of the standout titles to me, so I'm really excited to jump into this one.
Same, I'm not a big fan of tag fighters so 2xko doesnt do it for me, but this is in my wheel house
Yeah that's my #1 personally. I expect to play sf6 forever but this has me equally interested as of right now.
right there with you man
I was a bit skeptical about the game at first, but that marco trailer completely sold me on the game man. That shit was so hype
yeah i dont even like marco THAT MUCH but that shit was cold
MOTW was an amazing first stab at the concept they were going for and it always felt like they could've perfected it with one more iteration. I'm so glad they get the opportunity now.
MOTW has so many terrific mechanics that they've only seemed to add on to that I'm hoping it keeps the depth and adds to the excitement while keeping the pacing frenetic and mobility high. Feinting and braking is so cool.
I'm happy that they've really found their groove artistically in 3D as a "reclaim the 90s" style, it looks terrific. Hearing they're really going to emphasize the story aspect here that SNK games used to always be known for.
Now just get the netcode, lobbies, and regional pricing down and we'll really be cooking. Maybe this will be the title that really brings in the people that always have an excuse not to play their games and gives SNK the proper rise to prominence they've always deserved. And let Kevin/Blue Mary finally meet, and bring back Krauser!
If Grant still possesses a back jump dive kick, I am fine. I will always be fine. I will have my next 25-years-played fighting game.
I have waited a quarter century for this game. MOTW is my favorite 2D FG of all time, I own it on every single platform you can own the game on. I started playing it in 1999 when my local arcade got a copy at launch. I can competently play *every single character* in the cast. And I had my fears about how this new game would turn out, but after SamSho 2019, I had no doubts, if that makes any sense.
Seeing this game in action makes the wait that much harder. This looks like everything I’ve ever wanted, save for a confirmation that I’ll have Dong Hwan and Grant at launch. This is the only upcoming game that matters, imo. Not fighting game, not video game, just *game.* I don’t give a shit about anything else by comparison. I just want this.
I went through thread one day and was surprised how many people were saying they didn't play 15 just because how it looked
The improvement from SNK has been phenomenal this game looks so pretty and it's crazy you're saying it looks even better in person
Nah even if SNK has sf6 and Tekken 8 graphics, marketed heavily across all media, with good one player experience, superb matchmaking, and flawless, netcode and a 1 billion dollar pro tournament. people will still say it has PS2 Graphics
We've come a long way from that KOFXIV trailer. The visuals and City of Wolves being 1v1 has me hopeful this'll be the SNK game to finally take off.
I haven't been paying a ton of attention to CotW content, but I was STUNNED when I started seeing footage from EVO Japan weekend.
Dude that 3day of Evo Japan it took 2 hours for someone to play and snk make it 15 minutes before it's 20 minute for play lol and the booth always pack so Japan player clearly like it
Welcome aboard!
I’ve got very little history with SNK fighters except at the most casual level. I’ve picked up the steam versions of kof98um and kof2002, samsho 5+ and garou and like just messing around with them, feeling out the systems. And all these announcements have had me revisiting garou. From what I’m seeing, City seems to be very respectful of the legacy systems while bundling it all together in a coherent package. I was initially concerned all the additional mechanics seemed bloated but from peoples gameplay it seems to flow together well?. It all looks very clean and crisp, both the gameplay flow and visuals.
I really hope that it catches on, maintains interest past the initial hype cycle that we see now. More fighters is a good thing, and may every game find its audience and community.
Thank you for your coverage of all these new games Obama! You're the homie for that ❤
Thanks for pulling up
OG Garou was my jam during pandemic! I love that SNK found their stride for 3D animation, it looks so snappy and fluid like their old spritework!
Presentation and the constant feed of trailers and details have been great. A huge turn around already from previous titles released. THIS is a next gen game and really seems to show SNK stepping into a new era. Same way for T8 and SF6, same could be said for SNK. Im hyped as fuck for this game, dope vid as always Obama
Thanks for watching man
I'm so pumped for this game. I'm a big SNK fan, wanted more people to play KOFXV because i genuinely love the gameplay but it is what it is. I am looking forward to seeing the full roster, hopefully the Kim brothers will make it in, I'm sure we'll see B. Jenet and Gato bc of KOF assets. Thanks for the Griffon/Tizoc gameplay! Haven't seen much, this shits hype
I never cared for tizoc to play, but he looked so tight in this trailer I decided to learn him
@@doogies yeah he wasn't great in original Garou. I remember you saying in a previous vid you played B. Jenet in that. I'm sure she'll be back too, they ain't gonna let good assets go to waste. But tizoc looks way better in this one
Game looks really cool. One thing I'd like to see is the shadows on the character models lightened up a bit. See the shadow on Terry's legs. It looks great, but in motion the character movement seems a little hard to read.
Probably because there's some blur things snk do hopefully we can turn it down a bit
This is the one fighter am keeping my eye on, can't wait.
When this game comes out, I will most likely drop SF6 because its very close to what I want in a fighting game. Its got the artstyle I like, combos out the wahoo AND I wont be stuck in a character crisis unlike most other fgs out atm because SNK are pretty goated with roasters and characters in general. I just hate how overlooked SNK is in general here in the west, but other the hand SNK seems like they are still building themselves too. KOF XV didnt have a bad start but it wasnt the best either, Garou 2 is def gonna be a hit if they handle the little shit, I agree with you.
I'm in!!! It looks great and I think there's already a faithful Garou community that is going to jump at this game. I'm very hopeful for their sake mostly cause I wanna see this being played at the highest competitive spheres.
🔥🔥🔥
Obama is hungry like the wolf
I hope there are no issues at launch on the pc port. The game is looking amazing and I don't anything to potentially screw things up.
big same
Game looks dope! Full package game so far. Hope people play it
The thing that I like the most is that they left behind the proximity grabs, always hated them lol
I hope story mode is on par with the times.
Hoping also the English voices
it's a shame how samsho didn't take off cuz it lacked a good netcode at launch and crossplay. But that game looks insanely good for when it came out. Then add 120 fps for xbox and great netcode!!! i know this one is gonna be great!
I’m excited for all 3 new fighting games coming out but this one is probably the one I’m looking forward the most
I feel you!
looks dope and fun, I'll play the shit out of it next year!
GAWD DAMMIT I WANT THIS GAME.
I personally didn't mind kof xv's look but I really like the style they went with here. I'm most excited about the mechanics and want to get my hands on it. It looks fun.
the new filter they used REALLY stands out
This IS the one for me. RB FF 2 is my all time fave fighter and obviously MoTW is right there with it. Been watching all the hints of a sequel coming over the years...and it's real now.
Im so glad youre hyping it up, I know you wanted SNK to nail particular aspects if they're doing this and so far it looks like they are on their way. Marketing is always rough for SNK but I think there are enough hypemen to give this the push to set it over the edge. Exciting to see more. Thanks for the vid man!
Also...you failed the number 1 objective: Get SNK to drop the track! "...chaaaiiiin reaction!" 😂
Bless. Let the wolves out!
I'm so glad to see what post-SamSho SNK can do in game where they don't have to spread their efforts across 40 characters. So much style.
First time seeing the game and visually it really pops. Looks like a lot of fun, but I'm waiting for a new SamSho before I add another fighting game to my rotation.
Things are looking up for SNK.
Thanks for the content. Keep up the good work Obama.
Thanks for watching man
I’ve only ever tried snk games on occasion and never seriously. But this game just looks too good not to learn.
Play Mark of the Wolves. It’s sort of like Street Fighter 3 but less…stiff, I guess? I don’t know, it feels more fluid to me.
I'm def lookin forward to this. Hell, it's making me want to learn Marco in MOTW just because of the trailer lol
Also yo appreciate you seeking out the trailer theme hahah, thanks Bama!
It can't be just me! Tell them release the damn song!
@@doogies We're all salivating!
bro shout outs to the boy Maxx Clark! Another Esports Arena alum. Good guy for sure!
No doubt! hes trying to cook! thanks for stopping by bam
10:42 this was very cheeky! I'm guessing supers don't have invul?
I play primarily Tizoc and Marco so seeing the trailer and seeing that Tizoc has a more fully functional kit is great. Poseidon Wave losing it's back dash and no Griff-Fall is weird but overall very happy. SNK never does me wrong.
Mark of the Wolves helped me get back to enjoying fighting games back in 2015, where me and friends randomly bought the game and started playing it. So I'm looking forward to the sequel really hard. The only caveat is the playerbase. I just hope me and my friends get players in SA/SEA, because this ain't Tekken/Street Fighter level popular sadly. So excited eitherways.
I was never an SNK guy, but this one might make me into one. Every aspect of it looks so good. God i love fighting games
"Never an SNK guy" is a choice at this point. They aren't hard to pick up and learn. Nothing stopping you from getting ready by downloading garou 1 now!
Super hyped for this game, more than any game in recent memory, it just looks fantastic. I trust that SNK will pull through and have it working on release, this game can’t fail for them
Fingers crossed!
Yes, rainbow buttons forever!
maan....tizzoc's throws don't do enough dmg imo. but pumped for this .
Ngl I was worried when they showed the first trailers and images, but I gotta give to them, this game looks sick, and my boy Griffon is getting some well deserved love! Btw if you wanna do a special after dust defend, do you've to awkwardly do the motion input and then do the JD like the old game? Or is it similar to 3rd strike where you can do it after the ''parry''?
you do it after the JD or HD
@@doogies YEEEAAH, that's sick! Thx for the answer
I just wish it was coming out sooner it looks ready to go lol
ZOC!!!!
I would love a boxing character. Since Nelson wasn't in KoF bring him here.
No KOF characters. If they add a boxer, I'd rather them add a Fatal Fury boxer like Rick Strowd.
Im sold only if my boi kim dong hwan is in it my fav character
THIIIIIS SHIT RIGHT HERE, MOST FUN CHARACTER IN THE GAME
This might be a lot of hopium, but I think this game could have the potential to be SNK’s Strive, in the sense that it has breakthrough popularity.
KOF XV’s rollback, crossplay and matchmaking woes might help pave the way for this game to be have an excellent online suite at launch. If it does, it’ll go a long way to helping it out.
Strive in terms of appeal but hopefully not gameplay lmao
@@doogies I think we'll be fine in that regard. Already, this looks like a worthy sequel to Garou; game still has feints, brakes, chains, hops, JDs, it even seems to be adding in Real Bout style strings, those 4 hit strings Tizoc was doing in these vids from Evo Japan wasn't stuff I remember him being able to do in Garou.
Even with the Rev system, and there being an SF6 style modern mode with their Smart controls, this game has everything, if not nearly everything that Garou had, that's already way better than what Strive did to the GG formula.
I'm looking forward to see not who makes it back in but who is new, want to see what they're cooking as far as designs
I can guarantee you that the entire MOTW cast is returning. I’d be REALLY surprised if they’re not all base / launch roster.
@EverydayLegend i hope you're right lol, just FYI though the voice trailer reveal at Evo Vegas did NOT have Freeman, Grant, and Kevin doing voice lines so take that as you will.
Correction lol, Kevin is in the trailer but not Freeman/Grant. Mai and some people think it's either Andy or grown up Hokutomaru which not knowing the time jump could be weird haha
same. I feel like if they just remix the cutting floor designs from garou 2 concept art...they might have something tight!
@@kenmastersX Yeaaaaaah considering Grant has been one of my two mains for the last quarter century, I would be _just slightly pissed off_ if he weren’t in the cast.
Marco trailer got me hyped. Def on my radar.
Marco trailer was litty
My friend Rob is hyped for. And he’s not an snk at all. He just wants to buy it day one cuz it looks cool af to him.
Might be a good lil game huh
it really might be....esp if you fuck with 3s/ OG Garou (as you do!)
I don’t think Fatal Fury would ever be as popular or mainstream as Sf or MK but this game might change the big 3
It won't but I don't care anymore. Just want to play good game
Engagement
Much appreciated
this looks so amazing. Judging from the footage I've seen so far the rev system seems to follow the trend of fighting games being geared more towards aggression and pressure - despite this I feel COTW doesn't have as many "skip neutral"/snowballing/comeback mechanics as some other modern fighting games do. Is there hope that this might stay a bit more old-school in that regard and therefore attract players who may feel somewhat unsatisfied with SF6 and the like?
The Rev system enables expanded chain aggression and metered pushback defense, but it also puts a shitload of risk on that reward, since cooling off your Rev gauge quickly requires a combination of consistent Just Defense / Hyper Defense and burning your super meter stock.
The game also has both Feint Cancel and Brake Cancel systems returning, and in MOTW, both of these execution-heavy techniques comprised the threshold that separated “can play the game” and “can play the game well.” So while you will have big damage strings that far eclipse what you could do in the prior game, the execution skill required to make full use of these systems is very real.
I always thought KoFXV, despite being the obviously bigger budget game, didn't Look as impressive as SamSho. Didn't have a real identity. But this game definitely looks like it has the sauce.
Personally MoTW is my favorite old game to pretend I play to look cool, the mechanics and game feel are real tight, especially for a game of its era, and so far this game does not seem like it'll disappoint. I have hope!
need this game right now Preecha looks awesome
She cook
I hope SNK doesn't drop the ball on this game somehow because their games are always fun for me to play!
This game could really have a nice ass roster.
I already wanna play hotaru and preecha.
I was waiting for the hunter ex hunter comment
Nawwwww im ready for this one
Weeee readdddyyyyy
no auto combo button im in
Has any tried any post round exclusive taunt inputs yet? I kind of doubt those are in since that seems like a luxury thing to include and money just isn't there like that any more for SNK, but it was such a fun little aspect of MOTW and it looks like you still have the leniency to input them after winning a round like in OG Garou.
I remember seeing a clip on Twitter of Terry post-round taunting
They are in the game.
Post round special taunts are in the game. Which means the Dong Hwan “you got fucked up” dance is destined to return.
I hope you teach us how to play this game Obama, cause I dont understand anything, but it all looks so badass
Play Garou: Mark of the Wolves on Fightcade / PS4 / Steam to prepare for it. You’ll get a feel for movement and how the cast operates, and you’ll get a good grasp of the Feint Cancel and Brake Cancel systems, which are both returning in COTW and are absolutely essential for longer, more damaging combo strings that won’t crank your REV gauge as much.
I'm down
I hope they plan to do some sort of network test for this game. It's going to be such a shame if it releases and no one can reliably play it online
Yessss. They did for xv and it helped a lot. Hoping they do the same but also with ranked for them to work out bugs
I will reserve my judgement till i see gato
Not to discredit KOF, but I feel like KOF XV was their testing ground for City of the Wolves. You can see some of the KOF DNA, but they gave it a bit of extra flare. The normal throws didn’t need to have a lot more impact, but it makes the game feel more alive.
i just hope the pc port is playable online
At this point I know the fighting system will be the successor of Garou/FF that I expect. Now, just put replay value/single-player content in the game and I can sleep at ease.
buying this game at least twice so they have the funds to make a new samsho game lol
rollback and crossplay = day 1 buy for me
i wish i felt differently but imo capcom and snk peaked visually with sf3 and kof13. the transition to 3d visuals for these games has not been flattering. so much of the visual identity of these fighters was in the deliberate artistic touch that went into the 2d characters, effects, backgrounds. those games look timeless and still hold up. this looks like a massive step in the right direction for snk in that regard, esp after kof14 and 15 i didnt know if they had it in em. first fighter with 3d visuals other than tekken or an arcsys game thats come out in a while i actually kinda vibe with the look
We know dog. Lukewarm take lol
Good to hear man. Yours is an opinion I value on this. The only worry I have so far is the neutral, lots of footage of people just jumping forward nonstop like it's KoF. Hoping that the JD cancels makes people act at least a bit thoughtful in neutral
if anything, you have to worry about neutral being more stiff because of how the defensive mechanics can reward you
@doogies Yeah after posting I thought of 3S and how defense could be used to aid offense with like air parries. Guess we'll only get our answer next year though
@@HorribleCrackdownor beta
I like how the neutral might be more slow and methodical. Way so much safe offensive in the other games right now.
Check out some Mark of the Wolves tournaments. It's often very volatile and chaotic. The core of the game is pretty much the same.
*it feels very responsive*
Well we’ll see about that in the final. -_-
Surprisingly there is no Tizoc vs Tizoc, I would’ve like to see a grappler match up.
What current SNK game doesn't feel responsive to you? They all play great.
@@saiko_oro KOF XV.
Every time I input a button the game doesn’t respond and thus I drop a combo.
@@WolfMoon351 XV has a tighter input window than modern fighters, that's by design as KOF was always like that. Although XV's much more lenient compared to the older ones.
They're targeting a more casual audience with COTW too so they'll probably make it even easier to input commands.
@@saiko_oro ah I see, we’ll see still.
If they have a beta I hope I can play it.
Why would responsiveness be diminished? Lol
I keep trying to stay away from the hype cycle for this and Project KO, but this game keeps making me peek like the meme with the guy walking with his GF and looking over his shoulder at the other chick. This game looks good, I hope it plays as good as you say.
Im just hoping they do all the little things right
I hope they deliver on netcode, im hopeful but something tells me they don't have the tech like Capcom
15 was fine when it worked. If there is polish on that as a base, we might be in business
@@doogies the matchmaking sucked but yeah when it worked it was great
I’m tepidly excited about it. I love the presentation in old Garou with the crunchy ass audio(positive) and plus I’m a big 2D sprite fanboy. The stages in particular blew me away, so from jump I’m gonna have some unfair expectations. Seeing this game in-motion does it a lot of justice, there were some animations that caught my attention for just how impressive they were like the cinematic openers and closers of games, and the comic book effect that happens on supers. Never really had my attention caught by an SNK game enough to play one other than KOF13, but once it goes on sale I’ll prolly give it a shot. My main hope for lack of a better word is that it fills a niche that players have been itching for.
the one thing that really sucks a lot of the hype out for me is they just did ex moves and max mode (from round start now!) again. it was already tired in KOF XV and while the garou series has been combo-heavy (MOTW is really the exception), they didn't bring back chains into launchers, 2-line wallbounce combos...etc. Really wish they reined it in or did something more creative. also if they're gonna keep the rev gauge as it is, they need to change the visual design on it yesterday, make it a really greebly clunky engine thing, it's so ugly and nothing right now!!
U still have crazy shit from old garou this one make it more lol with ex move into ex move for more combo
hey i didnt see anyone from na that talk about this game on twitter other than justin whatsup with that
I dont think a lot of north Americans went to evo japan, which, to my knowledge was the first opportunity for the public to play
Yo Majin, whenever this game comes out, in that week, I wanna play against you ft10 Tizoc Mirror!! You accept?
RAINBOW LAYOUT? You're a trve playa
It's just how I was raised
4:12. "They never skip an opportunity to talk shit about SamSho or KOF14."
I don't know about the KOF games since I don't follow them, but SamSho 2019 completely deserves all the ridicule that gets thrown its way. SNK strangled the game while it was still in the cradle. Instead of giving us a PC port the same time as the PS4 and Xbox One ports, they decided instead to first port the game to Google Stadia (do I need to explain why that was an utterly idiotic decision?). And when it did come to PC, instead of being sane and putting the game on Steam, they put the game on Epic Game Store (do I need to explain why that was also an utterly idiotic decision?). The Steam port didn't arrive until June 2021, which was 2 years after it came out on PS4 and Xbox One. Of course, I don't need to go into how terrible the game's launch netcode was even by Japanese fighting game's utterly archaic standards. It should have launched with rollback netcode on day one. Yet, it didn't get rollback netcode fully implemented into the game until December 2023, a grand total of 4.5 years after its initial launch. The failure of SamSho 2019 was entirely on SNK's hands. They deserve to be mocked for it whenever possible.
If it lands with Rollback, Crossplay, and a decent single player offering SNK will be back
The confirmed rollback and cross play already.
I have a lot of expectations for this game, I can't stand the drive mechanics in SF6 anymore and I genuinely hope this game will replace street fighter for me.
lol Same
There are parallels to the drive system with the rev system
@Majin Obama, what makes you concerned about this game at a competitive level?
games with defensive mechanics that are strong run the risk of having boring neutral or overly defensive play at high level
@@doogies
So much I wanna dive into with this lol. But I really appreciate the reply. Great coverage man.
@@superpowerman4354 its simply a "risk!" doesnt always work out that way, I just want it to be fun to watch and make people want to play it, if that makes sense!
@@doogies
It’s makes perfect sense. Question tho. Let’s say Garou 2 turns out to be (arguably) the best 2D fighter in the modern era, in terms of depth/complexity/execution with a nice balanced neutral game, but, the censuses is that the game is a little on the boring side to spectate, in your opinion, would this be a mistake
From SNK ?
What I'm seeing of the game seems wonderful to me... I only have the red flag at half mast, on the subject of the REV Guard.... if it completely prevents crossups, I don't know if it's a good idea... Everything else seems great to me.
It is appreciated to be able to see videos of complete fights in good quality.
I don't wanna dunk on majin, BUT
When was the last time an fgc creator tested a new game and said: "guys, i'm not feeling it with this one" ?
he didn’t care for Guilty Gear Strive
Dud all the fgc creator who play it like what they tested it but will they stay for longer maybe not
my dude i have legit dozens of vids shitting on mad games lmao. michael jordan at the end of space jam level reach. legit just look down the list. I dont like MOST modern ASW products, for example.
DNF I didnt mind casually, just wasnt taken by it on a competitive level. Kinda same but in a different way for GBVS
@@doogies That's fair. My problem was a compound frustation against hype culture in general, and even if my question was sincere(for how abrasive i wrote it) maybe it was overblown since it may seam a graffiti against you. Maybe i don't see enough fgc content to read between the lines, but in general i didn't see much difference between hype trains: be dnf like you mentioned; HxH; kof; garou, mk, league fighter etc. (ofc with this last phrase i don't point to your channel, but the general feel i get from fgc creators).
We also live in a strange world where there are almost more fighters than fps to play online(without even counting fightcade), so at some point we could even start to rise our standards. A new fighter is not an event anymore, so not everything needs to be hyped.
Since i love the old mark of the wolves, i'm glad the new garou has a good artstyle(let's hope next kof won't have orange soda for its flames gfx).
There is no 5 button layout in a SNK game, it's always four.
there is now. thats why I said it. A B C D + Rev button
@@doogies yeah, rev button is probably a hotkey of some kind, like pressing 2/3/4 buttons or something
they probably set as an option but how can you be sure? in garou AB was the cancel special move thing like Marcos dp cancel
listening skills, dude

yassss. same promise, same feeling!
Overheat is strictly bad, right? It's kinda weird that it's presented like it might be a good thing
It's similar to burnout in sf6

Yo first
👀👀will it be a period piece? i love the energy of KOF15 matches, but i don’t look to that game for *anything* besides peppy combat. that game made it seem like SNK doesn’t have any great storytellers-or 3D facial animators-on the payroll.
Shinkiro’s art is timeless😍, but 80s & 90s action movies are not. this game may find less of an audience if the stylings, situations, and vibe doesn’t resonate with a cross-generational playerbase.
the action, martial arts movies that inspired so many SNK titles have been supplanted with anime & Marvel movies. do young people think martial arts in Levi’s & dojo-wear are even that cool? with all the guns in games, and irl (especially here in the states). i guess boxing & mma have an audience, right? Capcom has managed to not feel super dated with their urban portrayals (i guess just slather generic graffiti on everything & call it Sauce, huh?)
either way it goes, i hope SNK releases an exceptional title, even if the game’s movie adaptation wouldn’t be out of place on a Blockbuster rental shelf from 30 years ago
Get rid of that green dash bullshit shits in every fighting game now
