My daughter and wife were at an all hours gym. A really big, muscular dude was watching my daughter using weights. He approached her and... proceeded to help her with her technique and gave helpful advice on how not to hurt herself. Then he went back to his workout. Some of these guys are staring at you because you might be doing something wrong, and they are debating whether it would be worth the potential hassle to try and help.
He probably liked helping her as well. You cant deny that. But that’s just being a man. He shouldn’t be crucified over it

@@markcarpenter6020 My Grandfather died of dementia and Alzheimer's, as a child I had to watch him slowly degenerate into someone who he wasn't. Honestly I'm not sure if I ever met the real man... Every time I would see him it would get worse, and I didn't understand it really as a young kid but even then I knew something was wrong. It did straight up traumatize me. Now whenever I see dementia depicted in media I can't help but break into tears, it just emotionally digs straight to my core and I can't help it, I try to fight it, but I can't even as I write this I'm literally tearing up. I'm pretty sure this is clinically described as a trigger in the actual sense, not the modern internet one.
I don't like to talk to actual people about it because its so awkward to break down in front of them and I just can't stop it. So many people act like being offended or not getting their way is so traumatizing it makes me think they've never actually experienced anything outside their pampered lifestyle that they think discomfort of any kind MUST be trauma.

If I ever had a traumatic experience it would be middle school. Daily basis getting picked on for no reason but my looks and not talking. One time I was walking to class and was passing by a group of girls when one of them stepped out infront of me and looked me dead in the eyes and said "Ew" and then went back to her friends. Never seen this chick before never saw her again but damn if that memory has not stuck with me and it pisses me off because I've forgotten more meaningful things but I still remember that clear as day.

The few times I went to a gym, the people there stared at me too. I even had a few older guys come up to me and offer me some advice about proper technique. I’m a guy, people have to realize that you aren’t that important. And it’s a natural thing for people to look.
