    This guy is the most realest you'll get to a car review. No bull shit ads or sponsorships. He deserves more subs. He's not growing as fast as other car channels but he doesn't care. He's still at it and is still the same person 5 years ago. Love it!

      Not even close to being the realest Car reviewer. Check out SAVAGEGEESE he is completely unafraid to utter trash a car, and he opens them up, look underneath, and explain the mechanicals rather than just interior, exterior, driving experience.

    Hey Matt, I want to tell you something. Thank you - seriously - for keeping this channel basically the way it's always been. I've unsubscribed from SO many car channels the last few months because all their videos are stupid vlogs, drama, or have some fucking stupid clickbait title that I know is gonna be dumb as hell. Your channel is one of the few left that just keeps posting cool car reviews, car news, and other stuff that car people find interesting. Please don't fall on the clickbait/vlog train. And keep doing what you're doing, you've become one of my favorite car channels. Cheers!

      MathaelTheDestroyer Right? and to think that Parker from Vehicle Virgins roasted him in Ryan's vlog like Matts method of reviewing cars was ridiculous when it's like dude, his channel is WAY better than yours.

    • @MathaelTheDestroyer
      @MathaelTheDestroyer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      YEP. Vehicle Virgins and Street Speed or two of the worst ones. ALL their videos are like "Did WHAT to my Lambo????" then you watch it and it's like 'Oh yeah I put on a funny exhaust for an hour.' It's so stupid man. I feel like most car channels are doing this now, even ThatDudeInBlue is starting to get into it and he used to be my all-time favorite. I'm hoping this trend fucking dies because I hate it.

      I'm not sure why it bugs a lot of people, but I don't care because it makes the video unpredictable

    • @MathaelTheDestroyer
      @MathaelTheDestroyer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      That's the thing though. Like when ThatDudeInBlue put LTHs on his Mustang, I think he titled his video something like "Making 600HP - Stainless Works Headers." Cool. I want to see that video. When Street Speed makes his shit vlogs he titles them "RUINED my CORVETTE????" and then it's a 12-minute long video of total bullshit that I don't want to see and 30 seconds of him doing something stupid to his car. I understand *why* people do it - they want the views. Fine. But it's still fucking annoying and not the kind of shit I subscribed for in the first place. That's just me though.

      Yeah, I was like "wow, that thing is ugly!". It's a goofy bloated design and looks like a cartoon sports car. It's especially comically goofy compared to the more sleek, nicely proportioned 2nd gen. I know it's subjective, but I'm honestly surprised anyone thinks this weirdly spherical bubble car looks good.

    • @rustbloodeclipse
      @rustbloodeclipse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ConsciousRobot The design is smooth and timeless, just like the 2nd gen. In my opinion both are very well proportioned and designed, especially considering the 4th gen's design was heavily inspired from the 2nd gen such as the teardrop shape side windows.

      I had a VR4 for 6 years or so, I've worked on a lot of cars, and this one is tough to work on. Difficult to source parts, that being said, what a car! quite neutral handling, very stable at high speed, ultra reclined super sporty driving position, lots of torque and high redline, huge brakes, not as heavy as people say (average mustang now). Just a bit expensive to keep on the road but other then that, a pretty cool ride.

    One of the best bangs for buck in the used car market for cheap performance. Here in Alberta they go for thousands less than civics of the same vintage with a 100 less hp. I picked up an 09 Sypder GT manual with less than 70000 Miles on it for Just under $7000 in the fall 2017. Use it as my daily driver (including the winter). No issues at all.

    I bought a used 2009 Eclipse GT coupe 3 years ago in 2020. The car has needed some maintenance work performed, but the car runs like new, and is just so fun to drive. The 2009 GT has a spoiler installed from the factory, upgraded looks in the front, plus HID headlights. The only complaint about the headlights is the frosted lens housing that was opaque from the factory instead of a clear lens housing that is common today. The headlight housing is clear but the lens housing is opaque. The car has over 100,000 miles on it and the engine and exhaust note just sound fantastic.

    Gotta comment on an old Matt Maran video because I just bought a 2007 Spyder V6/6MT 131k on the clock and it's just great as a second car. Been with some wealthier older folks for 13 years and taken care of.
    The V6/6MT is even more rare now and I mean I never see an Eclipse on the road at all. Not at car meets either. I'm excited to fix it up a little, chop the muffler off, and enjoy that gearbox some more.

  • @halvinalvin
    @halvinalvin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah this car is great with speed, accel, and torque. The one con I have about performance is the steering. It can't make tight turns specifically u-turns. sadge
    Idk if it's bc I live in Canada and we get hella snow, but as the 3rd owner and at about 120,000 km mileage, I had to replace the clutch assembly because the flywheel and the clutch plate got smoother than a baby's bottom and I actually got stuck, unable to spin my tires, setting me back about 1.6k CAD for parts alone.
    Great video!

      This is true but you gotta remember those are 9 years more advanced. Look at fords older 3.8s in the shitty v6 mustangs they barely even made 200 crank hp. Same goes with GM I had a 02 grand Prix gt with the series ll 3.8 v6 and that thing was extremely slow and only made maybe 180 at the wheels.

      Zach Davidheiser Exactly, I have an all black '06 Eclipse GT 6speed and I RIP apart even those V8 Mustangs from the early 2000's. For a V6 back in that time Mitsubishi did a very good job. Ford has come a long way though with todays V6 engines, thats mostly because of the technology though

    I was 18 (2014) at the time that I wanted this car! I wanted a blacked out one with the se package and an auto transmission, 4 cylinder too (I was younger back then and didn't drive stick plus I thought the v6 would be too expensive for my insurance haha)
    I never got this car but for the price 125k miles for only like $5500 I thought it was great. The car doesn't look that girly imo and I hear they're reliable so I'm kinda sad I never got it. Anyways, great review! And all this car needs is a good detail inside and out plus maybe better wheels and he's got a good looking 10 year old car!
