That engine is really famous down in Puerto Rico and is used for swaps in smaller cars like the Mitsubishi mirages from the 90s. Seen a lot of these making 300+ hp N/A mostly used for drag racing in the local scene.
I thought it was funny, the 10" sub I was sold when I upgraded my 88's Supra's audio is that brand. Never heard of it, but I'm decently impressed. Only a 300W unit though, not a boatload of power. They installed it in my trunk firing at the window like shown here, but I thought it wasn't direct or loud enough so I strapped it to the backseat behind me lol. Not sure if that is bad placement, but it sure as hell helped.
i have a 2006 4th gen eclipse, currently sitting at 213k miles and still running strong. love these cars, and working on supercharging mine... also these motors are choked tight, especially the pre 2009 models with single exhaust. simple coi, headers, and y pipe can open these motors to about 310hp. also alot of other Mitsubishis car parts can be swapped to this chassis with relative ease, want better brakes? take em from an evo8, want all wheel drive, take the rear subframe from the same era endeavor, evo trans, and boom done.
It's nice to see one that wasn't riced out. I haven't seen one of these running in years and I thought this generation was older. The yellow is a unique color. It must have been annoying to put an aftermarket radio in because it's molded into the dashboard.
You can easily add an aftermarket 1 or 2 DIN unit if you have the right faceplate and harness/adapter. Crutchfield is where you go to get that. Highly recommend.
One of the cars I remember from playing NFS Most Wanted. I remember this being one of the cars that you'd get after winning one of the blacklist races. Other blacklist cars included (in no particular order): Mazda RX-8 Lexus IS300 Volkswagen Golf GTi (MK5) Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX Chevrolet Corvette (I can't remember if it was the C5 or C6) Aston Martin DB9 Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren Ford Mustang BMW M3 GTR (the poster car) etc.

They hate it bc people recapped of the 3rd gen and it’s fwd platform but despite that I’ve seen these vehicles beat a couple of rwd cars like the 350z and 05-09 Mustangs.
I currently drive the exact same 09 Eclipse GT 6 speed but orange and it’s really hard to find these typical facelift 6 speeds compare to the 06-08 models. Really reliable car if you do daily maintenance. I assume this is the yellow 6 speed that is for sale up in Naperville which is 45 mins away up north from me.
Damn man that 3.8 v6 is OP for the size! Would be sick with a turbo. Definitely love this gen but they are very rare and forgotten, barely ever see them myself.
Hopefully, you've looked into Rockford Fosgate since this video. Someone in the comments said they were a big name in the 90s and 00s. I'd argue that even by the 00s they were sort of a brand of the past, but they had a good enough residual reputation that you could brand a car stereo with their name and give it some prestige. Jim Fosgate was serious pioneer in consumer and car audio.
I GOT THE 09 eclipse GS 2.4L and I all I can say is that this car a very reliable I’m at 190000k and the car still run smoothly so far a fun ride in the nyc streets so far 😏🙌🏼
I once fit 6 people in one of these, good times with that car. I had a white 2011 GT coupe that was fully loaded and had the governor removed and ahhh it went. would happily do 250-260KPH met its end when a semi t boned it in the snow.
I got one for a project car. Another GT v6 with the 6 speed. In terms of reliability, it's great. My car is around 201k miles and I have had no issues with it at all and that's with hard track miles.
I've always liked the 2nd and 4th generation Eclipse. I just purchased a 07 Eclipse gs 4cyl 5spd manual. Not looking to race or modify it, just wanted a nice clean fun car to go places in.
Audio controls mounted on back of steering wheel. Rockford fosgate 650 watt 9 speaker with sub in hatch. Mazda6 and Mazda 3 both had optional headlight level switch. Hatch release above rear Mitsubishi emblem.
Since I had a Gen 2 Eclipse, I remember hating the Gen 4 cuz it felt so different and had a huge ass. Still, it had strange charm to the car and that arch spoiler made it look a hell of a lot better!
This brings back so many memories of when I was a senior in high school with my new 2001 Eclipse GT. I gotta say though; the 1997 Eclipse GST Spyder I owned years later was a way better car!
I remember these cars getting hate when this car came out. I think people thought they were ugly, but that just could have been my circle of friends. I thought they were neat. PS it’s Rockford Fosgate.
See the tire pressure sensor is on. Sadly a problem with 4th Gen eclipse models but easy to disregard since they turn on all the time. Still love mine regardless of that slight annoyance.
mines still going strong at 220k, just have to make sure you do the timing belt every like 120k miles, can still find these cheap in good condition too, like 3/5k. have full exhaust, cai, throttle body spacer, and a tune that activates mivec early + pushes redline to around 7400. the 6g75 is a very strong and reliable engine, people swap them into 3g eclipses and mirages to make drag cars. nothing without 2 more cylinders or boost can touch me lol.
Would have lasted longer if it had a turbo and awd version from the Evo like the 1st two gens that gave the Eclipse it's popularity factor. The 3rd gen only had FWD non turbo, so many hated it.
The concept versions of the third gen and fourth gen Eclipses were great to look at. The watering down that both models underwent to make them into production cars was a shame. I've always thought the V6 fourth gen with manual wouldn't be a bad ride though.
I gotta admit it does look pretty slick. Still inside and out I vastly perfer my last gen Celica GT-S. Even though thid has way more power, it's not even close to as tuner looking as the Celica is and/or can be. Rarely see these though. I think it's a better choice than a ton of Scion cars, but who knows how reliable it is.
I had the 2008 special edition. Beautiful car, very good suspension, you did need a tire upgrade tho. The MPG was mild in the 2.4L and the power was a pathetic 165hp…about the same as my 93 240sx. Sound system was Rockford Fosgate and it was excellent for a stock/premium system.
Thinking more about this car…i did love the seats and sun roof. The car did well in the snow too! Its just that huge lack of power was my reason for selling it. If the 2.4L had been 200hp it would have helped.
The 6 speed models were only available in 09-10 models only which I also own but it’s really rare to find those facelift ones unlike the 06-08 6 speed.
All they had to do was put a detuned lancer evo engine in it ( which the already had with the lancer raliart) and it would have thrived. Add in a awd option and sales would have exploded and this car would have been a true classic right now.
its a 3.8 that makes 265hp. That's the worst power to displacement ratio of any 2000's v6 sports car I can think of outside of maybe a v6 4.0 from the sn197 base mustang

I dont think you guys have driven a late 2000's mitsubishi before. Its the worst experience ever, the plastics in the eclipse and galant are hollow and rough and have huge seam lines. The eclipse that I drove handled ok but the v6 is straight boring compared to a VQ or something.

Yea and the 6 speed Manuels for the facelift were avalible in 09 models until Mitsubishi dropped that in 2010, however there is one person that has an 2011 6 speed facelift which is very rare.
The Headlight levelers are also present on the regular 2008-2017 Lancers ES, GT also the Sportback, Evo and Ralliart versions.. I have a Sportback and these are exactly like these in design..
huh, after research, apparently that dual exhaust is not common, they must've switched by the end of the run, the example I would consider one of the top loaded ones. I would still consider Mitsbubishis "ok" in reliability, still better than any American brand imo. the DSM models I would still consider special because it was a collaboration, but the underpinnings are still Japanese/Import (read better quality) to me.

man that interior is hideous, shame because the exterior is really really handsome. I wish they took this generation seriously with performance because it looked great, but when I test drove a v6 it drove pretty bland and didn't steer well. I'd rather buy a base civic or accord if you want a fwd sporty car

I have a 2010 Eclipse GT and love it. Being almost a 15 year old car, it still gets around and is reliable.

Rockford Fosgate made a lot of good aftermarket stereo components when I was growing up. I think my subs were rockford punch 12's

nah dual exhaust was standard on the GT after 2009, before that they where all single exhaust, regardless of engine size. the color is rare

Chevy had their 3800, mitsubishi with the 6g75, ford had a 4L, and dodge had a 3.5l i believe

Iirc yellow was only available in 2009. Thats why they might not find many in that spec. But there were plenty of v6 6 speeds.

Both engines came in either a Manuel or Auto trans, however the GT Manuel is much harder to find especially the facelift ones.

man that interior is hideous, shame because the exterior is really really handsome. I wish they took this generation seriously with performance because it looked great, but when I test drove a v6 it drove pretty bland and didn't steer well. I'd rather buy a base civic or accord if you want a fwd sporty car
