Agreed. The longer they need to take to make sure everything is polished to the best degree the better game will be when it does release. I'm currently working on a video specifically diving into the game itself (gameplay, lore, exploration, etc.) and why this game is going to be amazing.
i really feel like everything would just be so much easier, both for the fans and for team cherry, if they just released a newsletter every couple months or even just a couple times a year where they give some vague info about how far along in the development cycle we are, kinda like the deltarune newsletter. gives the fans something to cope with and relieves a bit of the pressure from team cherry by giving the fans more to look forward to or reasons why its taking so long
certainly not. I just think (and in Deltarune's case, know) that having any kind of dev interaction - development-related or no, is much healthier for the community and the mental health of the creators, when the alternative is gradually increasing annoyance and sometimes resentment from impatient fans the longer radio silence goes on for.
@@jack8162 Yes they do owe us. Communication and marketing is literally the definition of "customer friendly" and is what either makes or breaks a game in terms of sales. Just take a look at Hellblade 2 - 0 marketing 0 purchases. What a surprise...
@@aliceinwonderland4395that’s not really owing. Its obviously a good marketing practice, but that doesn’t mean they NEED to, especially since Silksong is so popular they don’t really need to market, since most people are already
@@jack8162Yes they do. Silksong was originally the Hornet DLC stretch goal from the Kickstarter for Hollow Knight. That is why Team Cherry promised Kickstarter backers a free copy of Silksong when it releases. At the very least they owe those fans who funded Hollow Knight and Silksong’s development some updates and information.
Tbf silksong has only been in development for 5 years. Big games normally take wayy longer, the only difference is that silksong was announced when they first started developing it instead of halfway through development. This gives people the unrealistic expectation of the game releasing much sooner than it should, this is why game devs wait a long time before announcing games theyre working on. Games take a long time to produce, especially when the devs care
True, Team Cherry kinda had to announce Silksong when they did, as it originated as a DLC for Hollow Knight, which was promised to the Kickstarter backers. I imagine, as to not leave the backers without information, they chose to announce Silksong earlier than they otherwise would have. With them reportedly not experiencing much development difficulties, I imagine they're probably on track for whatever release/marketing plans they currently have.
@@Jbswe You seem to be misinformed. Silksong started development in very late 2018/early 2019 following the release of Hollow Knight's Voidheart Edition. They officially announced its development in February 2019. It's been 5 years, not 7.
@@mimicsforge There's no way it started development in 2019, just look at the reveal trailer. That's definitely several months of work, so I'd pretty confidently say it's been at least 6 years of development
@@phantasmalflight3896 You're somewhat correct. At the time they had been very loosely working on Silksong but not to the point of it being officially their main project. You can look it up, they started primarily working on Silksong in early 2019.
Prepare for what might be maximum copium, but I stopped being worried about Silksong for two reasons: 1.- We often complain about crunch during videogame development. Team Cherry is really taking its time to develop the game and since they haven't announced a release date yet, they don't have the pressure to work extra hours to complete the game in time. 2.- Once I heard (I don't remember where) that we should start seeing videogames as pieces of art instead of products. When someone is crafting a product, they have a plan on how much it will take to complete it, but when someone is creating art, a lot of times, the creation of the piece depends from inspiration, which may not always be the same, so it's really hard to try to adjust its creation to a schedule. This point is easier to understand if you compare it when music. For example, when some artist or band (such as Tool or Kendrick Lamar) haven't released an album in years, we (well, not all people, but a lot of people do) understand that since they're working on a piece of art, maybe they haven't had the inspiration to create new pieces of art, of maybe they don't feel like they have something new they want to communicate or convey to the public, you just can't force it. Well, I decide to view Team Cherry and Silksong just as that. I decide to view it as a piece of art that can't be forced to be created, and not as a product. And yeah, my only concern is the lack of communication from Team Cherry, but at least we know the game was alive on June 2022 because of the Xbox conference, so that's it.
My hype levels are at an all time low. 5 years with barely a pebble of news is insane and frustrating. I'm fine waiting many years for games (I'm a KH fan), but you have to communicate with your fanbase. All this silence and waiting is doing is building insane expectations. IF it doesn't reach those expectations, people are going to be disappointed regardless of how good the game is.
If them saying nothing causes you to imagine your way into great expectations, theres nothing they could say that would change that. What would be accomplished by saying anything?
@@leaffinite2001 it’s a problem with their marketing overall, if they were consistently communicating with the fanbase, expectations would’ve been very healthy. The perfect example is Toby Fox with the Deltarune chapters, all he does is show sprites, empty rooms, or even less than that. Just confirming that the game is still in production does a lot for a fanbase. At this point, idk what Team Cherry could say to temper these expectations but just a confirmation that development is moving smoothly could help
not gonna lie, unless it's realising this year, I think it's kinda fucked up that they hyped everyone up so much and then ghost us for 5 years. A "development is going well" would have been enought, but nope, radio silence.
You misunderstand WHY they announced it so early. It was a DLC promised to kickstarter backers of Hollow Knight and not expected to take that long let alone become a sequel. They had to announce when development started and that was before it became an entirely separate game. Most games by comparison are officially announced midway through development. It's really not that big a deal especially now that we DO have a "development is going well" confirmation.
@@mimicsforgethat's not true, Leth said that they knew it was gonna be a separate game even before HK released. It's just that they were planning for it to be a lot smaller initially.
If you've actually looked into team Cherry's various comments through Kickstarter comments, interviews etc. they've been regularly saying that development is going well. That's just the kind of thing that doesn't warrant a whole announcement.
It’s extremely simple. They expanded their vision exponentially but didn’t hire anyone to take on the work load. It’s an incredibly unsustainable way to go about making a game, leaving silksong with the possibility of never releasing. Although it probably will come out one day, the return on profit will be considerably less with the time taken to achieve it.
The only news here is confirming not in development he'll from Greg, everything else is stuff/speculation we've been hearing for months now like "it's being polished/ported and in its final stages No matter what % of it is done its taking a while because they want it to be as perfect as possible and their first expected date being early 2023 is because their perfectionists Imo
Yeah, absolutely most of what I had to say was speculation, but I love to speculate! I mostly wrote my notes in an 'if X is the case, then Y is probably happening' format. Obviously, we truly have no concrete idea of what's going on.
Just so you know Being a perfectionist isn’t a virtue it’s actually a negative thing that people often attribute to sounding positive. At some point a product has to be released for better or worse.
Honestly, I don't know what to think anymore. I (and many others I assume) are lost, and it's hard to feel about it anymore without CONCRETE evidence. This is a good sum up though, thanks!
Around 15:00 what you say makes sense. The end of the year is big hype season for AAA games. Even if it lengthens the delay, having Silksong come out a couple of months later, when all the "must be under every Christmas Tree and Menorah Stand (and any other place under which one would put presents)" hoopla is gone is a much more intelligent move. Kind of like how the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, despite being rock and roll rivals, actually agreed to a staggering schedule so that their albums wouldn't be in conflict with each other. I don't know what the biggest hyped games are for the holiday season this year, but, Silksong should avoid it.
people being inpatient makes me mad asf. the fact that games now adays are being launched half assed and not complete. Team Cherry is putting their heart and soul into this game and the fact that people are mad that they are trying, and not releasing it half done kind of pisses me off.
that is true - I'm personally very hyped for the game (which is why I make the videos) and I'm happy to wait as long as it takes for the game to release. I just wish they'd communicate with us a bit more.
Never seen a serious statement like they must complete it faster; it's usually jokes about silksong 2077 or complaining team cherry being silent for a year. Both problems can be solved with 1-2 screenshots or short tweets like "we are alive" every few months or so.
I feel like we’re caught in scope creep but since hollowknight has sold so well, cherry could go on increasing the scope for years to come without running out of money.
@HarryButHarry okay ? Does not change the fact that the game is going to hit 7 years of development soon with no information on a launch window whatsoever beyond rumors and theories Team cherry is showing all the signs of a kickstarter scam
While I definitely agree that the developers could be communicating more, I think calling the game a Kickstarter scam is a little farfetched. It's had its fair share of publicity since the announcement - they clearly intend this game to release at some point in the future. As recently as February 2024, we got notice that they're still actively working on the game.
@HarryButHarry you mean in 2024 the said they were working on a game they announced they were working on years prior? This game is taking as long as games such as cyberpunk2077 and red dead redemption 2 If the game comes out and the company survives I'll be surprised
the fact that it took two years to make a game like hollow knight and just how good it turned out, i can’t even imagine how good silksong is gonna be. if they release it now, next year or in the next five years, i just know it’s something i’m going to fall in love with just based on how much effort team cherry as a whole puts into their games.
People keep waiting for it to pop up on an indie showcase - Silksong (or Hollow Knight for that matter) has never been featured in one of those. HK was announced and shadow dropped on Switch during a Nintendo E3 Digital Presentation. Silksong was announced at a Nintendo and then featured at an XBox e3 conference. Unless it’s one of those I don’t see them featuring it. They could also have pushed back release to make it ready for the Switch 2, who knows
honestly i could see it going two ways. 1. They release in spring for the sentimental value and less competition. 2. They release fall/winter and go head to head with the big winter releases. followed by a big marketing push for merch. im really hoping they release at the end of this year. Mostly because i honestly believe at this point they're just timing the market and their merch. They're experienced and have the support to make the game but not with merch sales. The merch is also where most of their profit will probably come from to begin with. them timing the game to release in fall and then the merch in winter before the holidays would be the best way to capitalize on the games hype.
In my opinion this is by far the most unprofessional event I've seen. They could have done so many things to make thier community less annoyed and frustrated. Like not releasing a trailer years before the game. Or they could have said something like... Hey guys we released this reveal trailer a bit too early. Don't expect anything for like a few years. But instead of letting the people know absolutely anything it's just been years of radio silence.
You can only make this comment with the hindsight of it taking this long. They wouldn't have known how long it's gonna take when they released the trailer.
@@arch_imedes7108 The lack of communication is a real problem, tho. And, for me, approving a product about your game with the said game not being even close to come out is kind of a red flag...
@@RustyhairedLamialp9575 I'm not saying it's fully evil intent, it's just not exactly a good sign (and could you explain the omori situation? Idk much about it)
A major game distributor was planning on this game coming out sometime 2023. We are 9 months past that deadline. We don't know whose fault that was. But it sure doesn't scream great things about development and its organization whatsoever. I do believe the development was not doing great, but they have the support to not care about it that much. But let's not bs people. I think by now we understand fairly well that Team Cherry has incredible skills and glaring flaws, and it's not wrong to praise them for the former and make them accountable for the latter. At the end of the day, the only thing they are hurting is their community and their success. Silksong is not doing better bc of their management regarding communications.
12:33 I imagine that the next piece of silksong news will be the game releasing without warning, not a release date, release dates don't sound like a Team Cherry move.
I just can't see Silksong shadow dropping, especially after all this time. While that would be super hype for the core fans, I think Team Cherry would want time to market the game, at least a little, before any kind of release. Even if it's just 2 weeks or a month between trailer and release (as has been the case with every other Team Cherry release, aside from Hollow Knight on Switch), that still gives them a good chunk of time to get the word out to the wider gaming community.
development hell doesnt just mean "wow this takes a long time to make huh", its more like theres miscomunication between executives and developers, about budget etc. which leads to the game taking way longer than expected because higher ups have no idea what makes a good game good. Them saying they arent in development hell does NOT mean that the game is almost finished, it could just mean that they keep adding new features and those implementations are going smoothly. My personal theory (said in a matpat voice), is that they are too focused on perfection, so even though they have a full game at their hands, or at least close to it, they cant finish it, because they want it to be bigger, better, more fleshed out, tighter etc. than hollow knight. So they keep adding more and more content. I think they should seriously just consider laying down a release date and then 100% stick to releasing it by that date, like "25. october 2025", its almost like they need someone to come in and tell them, "no you cant work on this anymore", i dont know if anyone has watched the 'rasing Kratos' doc, about the development of God of War 2018, but that is what happened with them, they wanted to keep on working on it, but Cory (or someone else i forget) said the team needed a date they could stick to, otherwise the game was never gonna come out, because developers at Santa Monica strive for perfection, and you can never get perfection.
2024: Silksong has a really good chance of releasing in February 2025 2023: Silksong will definetly release in February 2024 the copium reserves are never going empty
As someone firmly in the camp of "sure, Silksong's on my steam wishlist" (no other investment in it) it's fascinating to see a handful of people go insane over it It'll come out. When? Doesn't matter unless you're going to die in the next few months or years.
I remember hearing about how the voice actress for Hornet already concluded her work for the game, but that was YEARS ago, lol. Anyway, im confident we will get Silksong before Winds of Winter... surely...
the opposite of dev hell is not "nearly done," the opposite of dev hell is actively developing without any kinks in the process. dev hell does not indicate that a game is far from being completed, it just means that the process itself has been royally fucked and there's no straightforward way for anyone in the company to get anything done because things keep changing and nobody can make any decisions. a game can be in dev hell all the way til release. just because they aren't in dev hell doesn't mean they are close to finishing. you and i both know how dedicated team cherry is to fleshing out all of their ideas fully as they come up with them. I wouldn't be surprised if silksong is even larger than they initially presented us with, and they just haven't felt confident enough that they're done coming up with new stuff yet to give us any concrete news. either way, this sort of speculation simply isn't productive at this point. forget about the game and focus on something else, then when it finally comes out it will be a pleasant surprise!
Guess 5 years for a masterpiece is not that long when you think about it. This game will be legendary. The whole gaming space knows about Silksong and no game will be able to compete. I wonder at this point if Silksong will release first, or Crowsworn.
I remember when people said the same about cyberpunk all the yesrs it was in development. "Its taking so long surely it will be even better since it's taking longer"
@@AA-sw5pb tbf, wasnt cyberpunk forced to release when it did because of investor pressure? its been a good couple of years since then and ive heard its massively improved.
I don't want to look into things too much, but I also can't help but notice... Metroid Prime 4 got a release window before Silksong. Like that's a game that we know for a fact was announced way too early, entered development hell, and had to be restarted entirely, yet we actually know it's coming out soon after 8 years of waiting. I don't think Silksong is anywhere near that same boat, but I can't blame other people for feeling that way. The silence is deafening and not what people are used to with indie development.
The scope creep on this game is out of control, I'm sure, and I have a feeling its because Team Cherry feels the need to cater to the most hardcore fans (not a good thing, in my opinion) with more difficulty, more bosses, more areas. They are probably shoving in content that 98% of players won't find or care about just to justify the delay. I really hope I'm wrong. Making a game bigger (and just adding more of everything) for its own sake doesn't make it better.
Honestly, at this point I think the devs are.. scared to release the game. Imagine all the expectations, it must be daunting. If the game will be average, gamers will destroy it in the reviews. People will be talking about this game for years, either how excellent it became and the devs delivered, or as one of the biggest failures in gaming history. Either way I'm looking forward to it.
Absolutely, they're following up a masterpiece. It must be nerve wracking with all the expectations put on them from the original Hollow Knight. I think they could try to gauge fan expectations a little by communicating more, though.
The teacher waiting for me to show my project or any type of update on how it's going: Me who's just waiting for them to forget: Safe to say I firmly believe they are NOT doing anything right now.
I think what they're doing is they've shown us enough to show its real and then keeping all the rest a secret until launch so we can actually explore it completely blind. Like yeah been a loooong while since an update and this might be cope but id rather not see more. If they were to have updated us frequently or whatever we would have things spoiled important or not.
I don’t mind games taking along time to develop especially for a big game which silk song is going to be, but I do have a problem when games just announce games way to early then it should and also saying a release date or a time it will release.
I think what a lot of people forget is hollow knight made a lot of money the developers wanted to put as much effort as much money they made so if it’s taking this long it just means there’s gonna be a load of content in the game so hopefully the pay off for the wait we’ll be worth it
It will be a release title for the Switch 2 - that' s why it' s been "delayed". But since the Switch 2 hasn' t been revealed yet, they cannot talk about it.
I don't think silk song will release this year, or even next year for that matter. there isn't even an announcement trailer or a teaser trailer, not recent ones at least. so my guess is that they are very busy and rammed with it, and considering silksong is going to be bigger than hollow knight in general, it will need that extra time to cook, especially to their own standards. it may be taking a while, but that is hardly a bad thing, especially if we get an amazing game out of it. it'll most likely be a release similar to that of elden ring when it does get released, it will explode across the internet I think, getting more people than ever before into it.
iirc, greg once said team cherry work on the game non stop from monday to friday, like a normal job schedule, so I guess they just take the weekends to relax or something and thats why they attended that event, nothing else
SilkSong is just like long long long long manga. Once you forget about it - it will reaper in the memory or your scrolls.. and will be ready and ended after 10 years ❤
Nope the first piece of Silksong merch was the Hornet Nendoroid that came out in fall 2023. Because it also came with a mini Cogfly figure from Silksong. Even more interestingly if you buy the Hornet Nendoroid from the official Happy Smile website it comes with a Silksong branded base stand. While the Fangamer version of the Hornet figure doesn't come with a Silksong branded stand.
This Video reminds me of the Tears of the Kingdom/Breath of the Wild 2 situation, so many people want it, but to make it, they need time to make it good, for Zelda it was new maps, enemies, powers, shrines, and story, I feel like Silksong may have a similar situation with new content and stuff, that would explain why it’s taking so long
I'm also going to assume that they're trying to get the game to release at the same stability as the current patch of hollow knight as opposed to 1.0 because there was some real jank going on in that version.
I love these Devs and Team cherry 🍒 so freakin much…as far as I’m concerned they can take all the time they need and I’ll still buy and play the fuck out of anything they make 😂🎉
If the Switch 2 is officially revealed in 2024, I be Silksong waits until the launch of the Switch 2 until it releases. Especially if they are having to port it to Switch 2 and optimize, etc. I imagine Switch 2 launches late 2025, so that's my guess for Silksong too.
I think it was ready to release in 2024 at Nintendo direct, but they didn’t want to compete with elden ring dlc, so it has been pushed back to the winter holiday or some time next year, or the September direct.
So.... what if.... hear me out.... this normally happens with books, when authors are not the actual authors but publish a book that turns out to be a best seller and when the community start asking for the sequel, they just cannot do it because... they just didn't make it......what if....
"not launch with another bigger game" I think the only big game that could take away people would be a legacy game like Zelda, God of War, Mario, Dark Souls and others like them. It could also affect sales if they release the game for $70.00 high prices do tend to f with indie games
I guess they made the game bigger and added more ways to attack, so they wanna make everything perfect just like it is in Hollow knight and thats why they are taking their time
This whole video is coping and wishfull thinking... the game is firmly stuck in development hell. If they made a masterpiece in 2.5 years, there is absolutely no reason Silksong has to take this long to develop unless there are some major roadblocks in the development cycle. Team Cherry has enough money that they can hire some more hands to help finishing the game (if it would only come down to actually building the game) or get Microsoft or Nintendos help on optimising/finishing the development
Well having enough money also means no pressure to release. Being funded by kickstarter is a whole different story. The game is probably doing fine and they might be lazy but they can do that. Like you said they already put out a masterpiece. I doubt it will be worse but we will see. My prediction is 18 Feb 2025.

Silk song will indeed be a piece of art if it’s anything like HK…. Hollow knight is art in motion especially on a good display
I just completely forget about Silksong until other people bring it up.
Me too honestly.
I think its just gonna shadow drop like in a week at like 12 pm when no one expects it. ill put like 5 dollars on it
I said in the video that I didn't think Silksong will shadow drop, but I do think there's like a 10% chance that might happen.
Brother we’re faaaaar past that point lol
Cyberpunk2077 2.0 ;)
We getting GTA6 before silksong
That’s honestly crazy to think about
It’s extremely simple.

The only news here is confirming not in development he'll from Greg, everything else is stuff/speculation we've been hearing for months now like "it's being polished/ported and in its final stages
No matter what % of it is done its taking a while because they want it to be as perfect as possible and their first expected date being early 2023 is because their perfectionists
Imo
Yeah, absolutely most of what I had to say was speculation, but I love to speculate! I mostly wrote my notes in an 'if X is the case, then Y is probably happening' format. Obviously, we truly have no concrete idea of what's going on.
Just so you know Being a perfectionist isn’t a virtue it’s actually a negative thing that people often attribute to sounding positive. At some point a product has to be released for better or worse.
Team Cherry will sing us a SONG and we will become SILK
I'm assuming, it's a reference to Background Pony. Am I right?
@@arys1097messiI’m dying LOL
Honestly, I don't know what to think anymore. I (and many others I assume) are lost, and it's hard to feel about it anymore without CONCRETE evidence. This is a good sum up though, thanks!
Remember, they are trying to top a masterpiece.
I don't know what the biggest hyped games are for the holiday season this year, but, Silksong should avoid it.
this video is such copium. good work but this fandom has been saying "its almost done its gonna come out soon so soon!!" for the last two years
I don't care at all how long it takes, as long as it comes out at the standard of the original
"what's going on with silksong?"
they're working on it
Silksong will be a launch title for the Switch 2
I heard it will release in a bundle with half life 3
@@AA-sw5pband a massive TF2 update will drop on the same day
people being inpatient makes me mad asf. the fact that games now adays are being launched half assed and not complete.
@@HarryButHarry i do too lol
Never seen a serious statement like they must complete it faster; it's usually jokes about silksong 2077 or complaining team cherry being silent for a year. Both problems can be solved with 1-2 screenshots or short tweets like "we are alive" every few months or so.
I feel like we’re caught in scope creep but since hollowknight has sold so well, cherry could go on increasing the scope for years to come without running out of money.
going on 7 years with no information sounds like dev hell to me
??? it's more like 2 years since the last proper information on the game.
@HarryButHarry okay ? Does not change the fact that the game is going to hit 7 years of development soon with no information on a launch window whatsoever beyond rumors and theories
Team cherry is showing all the signs of a kickstarter scam
While I definitely agree that the developers could be communicating more, I think calling the game a Kickstarter scam is a little farfetched. It's had its fair share of publicity since the announcement - they clearly intend this game to release at some point in the future. As recently as February 2024, we got notice that they're still actively working on the game.
@HarryButHarry you mean in 2024 the said they were working on a game they announced they were working on years prior?
This game is taking as long as games such as cyberpunk2077 and red dead redemption 2
If the game comes out and the company survives I'll be surprised
I hope they cook up some good lore with how long it’s taking 😭
9:50 that's what I'm talking about, every day I think about that
the fact that it took two years to make a game like hollow knight and just how good it turned out, i can’t even imagine how good silksong is gonna be. if they release it now, next year or in the next five years, i just know it’s something i’m going to fall in love with just based on how much effort team cherry as a whole puts into their games.
"What's 17 more years? I can always start again...make another Silksong" /j
Captain America: "I understood that reference."
:p
@@steveeev similar stuff was said about Omori...
@@RustyhairedLamialp9575 I'm not saying it's fully evil intent, it's just not exactly a good sign (and could you explain the omori situation? Idk much about it)
@@steveeevwhat exactly could they be communicating? Tweeting “the game is gonna take forever” every other month?

Hollow Knight and all of its content packs had release dates.
development hell doesnt just mean "wow this takes a long time to make huh", its more like theres miscomunication between executives and developers, about budget etc. which leads to the game taking way longer than expected because higher ups have no idea what makes a good game good.
It breaks my heart to see a young man's hopes shattered again and again
It will be very hard to live up to the final hollow knight product. I feel like they had to make it huge to stack up against HK with all the dlcs
i just started highschool when they announced this im gonna be a college student next week
"I'm feeling that they must be in the polishing phase of development"

It'll come out. When? Doesn't matter unless you're going to die in the next few months or years.
For me, it's just a game I'm really hyped for. I channel that hype into making videos & speculating about it!
Games should only be announced 2 years before release at most
@@arzfan29eh
@@arzfan29well there wasn’t really anything team cherry could do about that.
@@arzfan29 Why? Is there a law telling TC how they should market their game?
Imagine it was done 3 years ago, they just forgot to release it 🤣
Guess 5 years for a masterpiece is not that long when you think about it. This game will be legendary. The whole gaming space knows about Silksong and no game will be able to compete.
I wonder at this point if Silksong will release first, or Crowsworn.
Wdym 5 years? It's been at least 6-7. They've started before 2019.
I remember when people said the same about cyberpunk all the yesrs it was in development. "Its taking so long surely it will be even better since it's taking longer"

Bit late to the video but the first actual Silk Song piece of merch was the Hornet Nendroid
That happened quite a while ago
I don't want to look into things too much, but I also can't help but notice... Metroid Prime 4 got a release window before Silksong.
Like that's a game that we know for a fact was announced way too early, entered development hell, and had to be restarted entirely, yet we actually know it's coming out soon after 8 years of waiting.
I don't think Silksong is anywhere near that same boat, but I can't blame other people for feeling that way. The silence is deafening and not what people are used to with indie development.
Don't think it's anywhere near the same boat? Bruh Silksong is already at like 6 years that's only 2 off. I'd say it's already in the same boat
the difference is what happened in those 8 years as far as I’m aware Silksong hasn’t had to be restarted or is in development hell
Being a very impatient person is horrible in this situation
Fans have been unfathomably patient with this game's development and developers.
The teacher waiting for me to show my project or any type of update on how it's going:
Me who's just waiting for them to forget:
Safe to say I firmly believe they are NOT doing anything right now.
Just a small correction. The first silksong merch was the hornet nendroid
Everyone says that team cherry is taking their time to make sure that the game is perfect, but I really just hope that there's a ton of bugs
Ugh, I need to check at the doctor. I thought my cope meter is to high
Cant wait for a triple AAA indie game release and actually wipe the dust off my switch 😂
The switch is a toaster oven at this point, silksong will probably release on switch 2
The one thing no one is talking about is there a ton of expectation for silk song so of course it takes quite a long time
the game is coming out end of this year, early next year. That is the most information we have.
1 year from now: OKAY I KNOW I SAID ITS WINDING DOWN BUT IT SEEMS LIKE ITS ACTUALLY WINDING DOWN NOW!
I don’t mind games taking along time to develop especially for a big game which silk song is going to be, but I do have a problem when games just announce games way to early then it should and also saying a release date or a time it will release.
We know why Jack Vine wasn’t there.
We know the allegations.
You can’t hide forever Jack Vine.
It would be smart to release it during the trailer at Nintendo Direct. Max hype!
I just play other games and also hollow knight, but when I think about silksong it feels like time starts to get slower…
But you were right, it will appear in the june direct... Of 2124
Moral: All good things comes to those who wait
I wonder if all the backers are getting updates and just being asked to keep quiet til release?
This shit is like winds of winter, its never coming out until i have it in my hands.
iirc, greg once said team cherry work on the game non stop from monday to friday, like a normal job schedule, so I guess they just take the weekends to relax or something and thats why they attended that event, nothing else
Yeah that's a fucking lie
SilkSong is just like long long long long manga. Once you forget about it - it will reaper in the memory or your scrolls.. and will be ready and ended after 10 years ❤
Nope the first piece of Silksong merch was the Hornet Nendoroid that came out in fall 2023. Because it also came with a mini Cogfly figure from Silksong.
Even more interestingly if you buy the Hornet Nendoroid from the official Happy Smile website it comes with a Silksong branded base stand. While the Fangamer version of the Hornet figure doesn't come with a Silksong branded stand.
This Video reminds me of the Tears of the Kingdom/Breath of the Wild 2 situation, so many people want it, but to make it, they need time to make it good, for Zelda it was new maps, enemies, powers, shrines, and story, I feel like Silksong may have a similar situation with new content and stuff, that would explain why it’s taking so long
Totk taught me thst many years of dev time for a sequel doesnt mean it will be great
I think Team Cherry were just in Japan to have a nice holiday because they Deserve It :)
I guess that the big delay could at least partially be that they may have converted the game to another engine after all the drama with Unity...
I'm also going to assume that they're trying to get the game to release at the same stability as the current patch of hollow knight as opposed to 1.0 because there was some real jank going on in that version.
Im still working on doing all bosses radiant, so i can wait a bit longer.
2:52 bro... That's the whole point
I love these Devs and Team cherry 🍒 so freakin much…as far as I’m concerned they can take all the time they need and I’ll still buy and play the fuck out of anything they make 😂🎉
maybe the wait will be worth it in the end.
If the Switch 2 is officially revealed in 2024, I be Silksong waits until the launch of the Switch 2 until it releases. Especially if they are having to port it to Switch 2 and optimize, etc. I imagine Switch 2 launches late 2025, so that's my guess for Silksong too.
I think it was ready to release in 2024 at Nintendo direct, but they didn’t want to compete with elden ring dlc, so it has been pushed back to the winter holiday or some time next year, or the September direct.
there’s absolutely no way the game is ready and they’re waiting to release it
Silksong, Katana Zero dlc and Lost Soul Aside are the ultimate patience testers.
So.... what if.... hear me out.... this normally happens with books, when authors are not the actual authors but publish a book that turns out to be a best seller and when the community start asking for the sequel, they just cannot do it because... they just didn't make it......what if....
"not launch with another bigger game" I think the only big game that could take away people would be a legacy game like Zelda, God of War, Mario, Dark Souls and others like them. It could also affect sales if they release the game for $70.00 high prices do tend to f with indie games
I guess they made the game bigger and added more ways to attack, so they wanna make everything perfect just like it is in Hollow knight and thats why they are taking their time
The waiting for Silksong is already more legendary than Silksong
silksong is never coming out we just have to accept it
September 8 is my birthday sooo if it was announced it would probably be my favorite gift
