GOD GAMERS is a series celebrating the incredible accomplishments speedrunners have achieved. In this episode, we tell the story of how the youngest speedrunner in the Hollow Knight community almost flipped the Any% No Major Glitches category on its head. Same. One of my favourite pastimes is watching TH-cam videos about speedruns, even though most of them are about games I've never played in my life. And I owe that to these amazing TH-camrs who explain things so well that I can understand despite a total lack of experience.

@@zephyrsaurus8822 I had to look up the WR history of Celeste to confirm this, since his PB is currently in 381st place and over 10 minutes slower than WR. Didn't realize Celeste had been optimized that much in the last three years!

Have you heard of whitecat? He started playing osu at 12 and got banned because he was so good people thought he was cheating. Right now he is the current best or near best osu player
Edit: a bit late but he actually was banned for multi accounting but because the reason wasnt actually disclosed everyone thought it was cheating

imagine being a child, and there's this game you like and that you are really good at, and then people accuse you of cheating.
And after his unban he did a 24 hour Twitch stream playing some really difficult song "maps". Within a week he went from the millions in player rank to #1. Prodigal.
@@fireb0rn yeah he got unbanned after *three years* and immediately flipped the leader board on it's head. Sniped several top players, and took the #1 global spot in *8. Days.* after it was undisputed for like a year or so

Hearing stories like this make me want a speedrunning anime... One part being the real people interacting, strategising and general plot; and the other part being the animators going absolutely nuts visually interpreting the crazy speedrun movements and skips that happens in the game world.
Also Magolor pretty much sounds like an anime protagonist already.

1. If anyone truly attempts the skip, even if it proves to be fruitless in its entirety, and
2. For when speed running Silksong begins

@@Ziad0426 Tool assited speedrun, it's basically a showcase of a technically perfect run just to see the shortest POSSIBLE amount of time to do something in a game. It's not really much of a category though.

Watching this only knowing his involvement in shmup community feels weird. Never had an idea he put that much effort in route discovery, so this video gave me some new appreciation for his skill. He's shown to be an extremely hard worker on a shmup side as well and is one of the best Ketsui players ever and is the best western Ketsui player period.
Excellent video fire!! These types of videos that go into depth about speedrunning history are very informative and entertaining. As a newer runner, I never really got to experience or appreciate how the route of Any% NMG developed, so I am really glad you made this video! moglar5k is truly a legend!

A TAS can do QGA without even requiring crystal dash, so while it would be cool, it still wouldn't be optimal lol

I just beat Hollow Knight the other day. So, I have a rough understanding how the game works. What I love about your video is that you took the time to explain things (Super Dash, Double Jump, etc.). That way I could follow way better. Entertaining and informative video. I feel the passion.

6:25 No, there is a third way. You need shade cloak, monarch wings, sharp shadow, spell twister and dreamgate - you can bypass the acid pool with a convoluted skip from the left side of Teacher's Archives. Dreamgate is needed to escape the monomon hardsave. In fact I have beaten the game without collecting either Tear or CHeart. (obviously this is of no use in speedruns, but felt like pointing that out nonetheless)

I've been watching a lot of Hollow Knight speenruns (and rando races) lately and have been really curious about how the route developed. I'm excited to watch more of this series and learn about the awesome speedrunning community!
I wish there was a segmented run of this route to see the final time now ^^
Simply considering Spell Twister and Dash Master for a utility outside of general movement and boss fights is incredible. That kind of thing is something 99% of people would overlook in any game.
