    Universal safety tip for battery connections: "ground is always first to disconnect, last to reconnect". Prevents accidental shorting to frame or ground when handling the live 12V connection or disconnection. With this sequence, any accidental grounding or tool-frame touching is always safe and no-spark, regardless of which battery wire is being connected or disconnected.

    My Friend, thank you so, so, so much, I’m one of the fools that totally dismantled my brand new bike R1250GS Adventure (less than one hundred kms) to route the harness thru the OEM,s cable routing, I did take not only the tank off but also the air box too, I feel so stupid now.
    I took all apart because I followed the BMW dealer advice to route the harness thru the OEM harness route, now I know they don’t know what they’re talking about.
    Because the routing I did I had to use a Denali extension because the harness was too short to hook with the D7’s cables, one again I feel so dumb.
    I’ve waited all summer for your video, and it is the VERY BEST DENALI INSTALL VIDEO.
    I used to order everything from Twisted throttle because I live in El Salvador, Central America, but from now on I’ll surely will be ordering everything from you, even if that means the shipping will be more expensive from UK to Central America, but your support is worth a million dollars.
    Cheers Brother, and if you want to come and ride in Central America just send me a message, I’ll lend you a Bike and you come with us.
    Next summer we are planning a trip from Central America to Alaska (both ways)
    Cheers my friend, I’ll be waiting for the GS Adventure video before I take everything apart to do it the right way 😜👍😎

      Ricardo Moran thank you for you kind words. Well.......I’ve just accepted an installation order on an R1250 GSA today but the customer is flying me out to his home in Thailand to do the install. Flying out this week so that video will be coming soon too.
      I have a business address in Florida so don’t worry about extra shipping costs. Just contact me when you need something.
      Thanks again

    Great video and great mount for the GS. I just finished installing the Denali D4's on my new R1250GS 40th Anniversary. I had my laptop in the garage, using this video step-by-step, and it helped tremendously. Your GS light mount, which I purchased before I found a bike, fit beautifully. That said, I would suggest removing the side panels to gain better access around the tops of the radiators....this opened up a lot of options for routing the individual light wires. Consider another video showing how to remove the factory spot lights and wiring (I had to remove mine and could've used some guidance). Thanks for all.

    Hello Mr. A Bike Thing
    Thank you very much for making this video, it was very helpful to me as I just installed lights on my 1250GSA.
    I did not use the Denali lights as you did because I already had Rigid lights from a previous bike. However I did use the Denali bracket in front and your video was instrumental to my successfully installing everything easily. Taking apart the body work and the routing of the wires I followed directly from your video, play/pause and so on. As you said the hardest bolts were the ones halfway along the blue fairings, but per your suggestion apply patience and it was a success. I wanted to sincerely express my gratitude to you, your a real bike guy and you have a friend who owes you a beer in the USA. Best Regards Ronnie Ellis

    I’d like to make a suggestion if I could. I think another great feature would be if you could have the front and rear lights continuously strobing at the push of a button. I do some marshaling from time to time for events and charity spins and I think that would be a great way of catching the attention of traffic and to stand out as a marshal.
    Some friends of mine have dedicated strobe lights fitted for this reason. If you could do that then it would really be, the icing on the cake for that setup! 👌

    • @ABIKETHING
      @ABIKETHING  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We need to persuade the top powers at Hex to make that happen. I think it would be abused by some and is probably the reason why it’s not available to us. That said, I think it’s already possible but requires a sequence of button pressing to activate it. I’m trying to get them to spill the beans so I know how to activate these Easter egg modes.

    So I bought this, disassembled the bike, and then realized the D4 bundle doesn’t actually work together. I’m fairness, I didn’t ask if it did. I just assumed it would since it was sold as a bundle. If you get the Soundbomb, D4, B6 bundle, there aren’t enough circuits to deal with the amps for the D4 AND the Soundbomb as there are 3 high powered circuits required and only 2 in the EZcan. The Soundbomb is pulling 54 amps too which is a crazy amount. Why sell as a bundle of it doesn’t work together?

    Another very useful vid.👍 if the space I want to thread a wire through is very tight or a bit fiddly I use a long cable tie with the square bit cut off then attached to the wire I'm trying to feed through with some electrical tape, similar to how you attached the cansmartvwires when you were feeding those through.

    How can we install the Denali light bar mount and the Loner Rider light guard together? They both use the same hex hole.
    Thank you

    • @ABIKETHING
      @ABIKETHING  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s the answer. They both use the same hex hole. Both will fit however lone rider did make a load of their guards for a short period of time using captive nuts which meant the sharing is not possible. Drilling, milling or hacksawing the captive nut out is required. Lone rider have since stopped this captive but nonsense

      I have the Wunderlich headlight guard that also uses the same hex-shaped hole for the lower mounting bracket of the headlight guard. It looks like I can use the bar mount threaded bolt and that silly captive nut on the Wunderlich mounting bracket, but I can't seemed to get it to easily thread in without taking the fairing and beak off. I tried for hours yesterday, so I've gone back to your video of "How To Strip Your Beemer. That will be tomorrow's task, so I will update when I can. Thanks for some great video! Now, if only I had a garage and didn't have to work on my bike outside in our Colorado weather!

  • @Vindaloobeast
    @Vindaloobeast 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really enjoyed the video buddy but I have a bit of OCD and I hope you don't mind me commenting about the cable ties...a) for me they should all be the same colour....and b) cut the ties flush with the square head of the strap. You can get a tool which cuts them off nice but you wouldn't get it in the spaces you worked here. Sharp edges of badly cut ties can not only be a hazard for fingers but can also cut other wiring too. Sorry but I use them in my day job and would get shot leaving them not cut properly.

    Hi Steve! Your videos are really awesome!! I actually do an install on an Adventure, so I more follow the Thailand video love Your loose wire points comment :-)). Obviously I'm doing at 20% your pace LOL. But now I came across my first dilemma: when bringing forward the cables below the tank, when I get to the wishbone, I took the cables above one of the water hoses. The reason I did it was because I did not want to touch the mechanical rod which probably sends suspension compression signal to the control unit. Your install has these cables practical touching this rod from the side. So the question is: do You think that these Denali cables sitting on this water hose could rub too much against it, eventually puncturing it? Or should I just apply some grease? I hope I could explain myself ... :-s

    • @ABIKETHING
      @ABIKETHING  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Luca S. good question. Denali don’t supply any insulation caps so I personally don’t insulate but I do think this is a good idea using either tape or some large heat shrink to pop just over the end and seal with tape ensuring it’s still easy to remove.

      Hi, is it on blue circuit? Blue is the default circuit for soundbomb. It doesn’t need to be on blue but you do need to make sure you plug cansmart into laptop and programme the circuit for the soundbomb. It’s kids play when you’re there configuring it.

    When you mount the Sound Bomb I note that the bottom of the unit rests on the front brake line. When the front suspension is compressed this will result in the Sound Bomb pushing down and flexing the front brake line. Wont this put stress on the brake line over time and have the potential to impact the safe operation of the front brakes?

I’ll wait for a dry day and ride down some big curbs, steps etc and apply hard front brake so we’ll hopefully witness the full travel of the suspension and how the bomb and brake line live up to expectation
