Steve, great to see the bike put together again. I have to say the installation is First Class and beyond expectation as was the delivery and collection. Thank you a very professional operation......
Steve you are one of the best of best youtubers. I don't know how to thank you for the videos and your efforts to make life with our bikes easiear . My BMWR1250GSA bike order is coming at the end of Feb 2022 and can't wait to order some denali bundle from you. My best regards and thanks from Turkey.
Steve - can't thank you enough! Was hoping you would do this. I did make a step-by-step list of taking things off and thought I'd follow it in reverse order when putting my bike back together. Never would have worked as clearly as your video portrays - your pointing out where all the nubbins go is a real life saver. You are a BMW guru!!
Steve, thanks for doing this video. I have struggled getting my panels back on often using the wrong screws. This helps immensely. Very much appreciated.
Congratulations Steve - best DIY video I’ve seen from anyone. Still glad I’ve got my airhead: removable seat & 35-litre tank without tools, no canbus or fuel pump, only one small screw in one small panel. Keep smiling behind bars🕊
Steve, thank you for these videos and all the work you put into them... just can't say that enough. You keep your good cheer even when you forget the carpet, and have to rewind everything... amazing. And the way you call out every screw... so helpful! One quick note on this video: when you get to the large side panels, you never state clearly that they require long, shoulderless, T25 screws. You do both panels, but don't state it as you do for all the other bits.... maybe you could add a note on the screen at that point in the video, just to be clear?? Thanks, mate!
Saturday morning in Cypress, Texas, and hotter than Hades. Leisurely and methodically following Steve's instructions, I had my bike stripped down quickly. Time to install the D4s provided by A Bike Thing!
Thank you so much for making these videos! I'm keeping myself occupied by watching them over and over again while I wait for our snow to melt here in the high Rocky Mountains. I have my lights, mount, and CanBus all waiting for me to install as soon as I can! I'll keep watching!
Between this video and the one a year ago, this task was fun! knowing it was going to be a lot harder to mess up, lots of learning!! thanks Steve, your tutorials are pure gold
I bit the bullet and ordered the Denali D4 and Horn from you Thursday. Everything arrived the next day and although it took me a while today, I fitted everything on a relaxed Saturday, watching your step by step videos. Would never have attempted this without your videos, awesome, and a shout out to Jo as well; great service, great products and all programmed and working perfectly. One happy GSA owner.👌
Another great video for the DIY-people out there! I love your meticulous focus on details, it really gets the job done! Having moved away from BMW and onwards to KTM I can hardly wait for you to start tinkering with your SAS!
Brilliant you do take take requests! I just literally finished putting my GSA back together and was dreading taking it apart again, now I can buy more stuff from you as I can now just watch both videos! Cant wait for the custom T3 BMW emblem wiring (no pressure) seriously your customer service is outstanding your shipping is super fast even down here in Aus and pricing is the best I have found. Now seeing you are taking requests how about a bash plate/engine guard SW MOTECH install👍🏼 thanks again Mitchell (not the Aussie cricketer) Stark
As a toolmaker : Bmw screws if magnetic(ferrous) would rust unless they used a tool steel with alot of chromium in like en30b . its better to have fully stainless steel so everything stays rust free and stainless is very strong, like twice the rockwell of mild steel. Great content thanks. Look forward to having you work on my bike sometime. cheers steve
Try this, take a small piece of plastic film, such as from a plastic bag, lay it over the screw head. Press the driver into place forcing the plastic to fill the tiny space between the driver and the screw. This works makes a pressure fit that will hold the screw on the driver. If one layer of plastic film isn't enough, use 2 or 3.
I wish I viewed this about two hours ago. I installed two D7 s. I just put it back together. I had a problem but not not that bad. I figured out a fix.
You need to do this with a standard 1200 or 1250gs. The whole bodywork screws thing drives me crazy. Long screws, medium screws, short screws, short shoulder screws...argh! I even noticed some of the screws are flat on the tip, and others have a pointed tip. Maddening. German Engineering at its finest..."Why only use just one part when 37 will do?" 😵💫
Great video Steve. Somewhere I've seen a video on removing the wired plug from the back of the OEM spot lights whereby you insert a small allen key or baby screwdriver into a slot at the rear of the light unit, can you confirm that is correct please.
Loved the tutorial! My left side upper crash bar pushed back in a fall so I need to replace the mounting bracket, which was clearly displayed in the video. How is that bracket attached to the frame? Thanks!
Great videos Steve thanks for both of them. Just one question please? You don't have to use a torque wrench putting things back together? Cheers Karl in Oz 😊
Brilliant videos. Help enormously. When I tested the keyless ride to open the tank, the tft shows the tank as full when it’s almost empty…. Have I connected something wrong or will it correct itself when I ride?
I’ve worked and spent time in a bmw service centre. Apart from major bolts and screws that hold critical parts to the bike such as brakes, clutch, wheels, suspension, engine etc, for body panels just use your intuition and give it a sensible tighten up.
Great video ... this one and the taking apart one! Question: The Milwaukee Fuel impact driver you use, how do you set the torque as the screws holding plastic bodywork on will be really low 2-4 Nm and things like luggage racks and crash bars will be 10x that! Does the impact driver have some kind of auto-torque or it is based on how long you hold the trigger (trial & error)?
HI Steve, i only just started following your vids but i will say already well impressed here.. Now i wondered if you could tell me which stand you use in this video to lift the bike? Probably a question that has been asked before but so far couldnt find it hence the question.. ( i assume by the way that this would work for a 2016 GSA as well? ) Thanks in advance, Frank.
Hi Steve, I’m contemplating ordering the Weizer Extreme Evo indicators but am just wondering, if you’d be kind enough to tell me, do I need to strip the bike to this level in order to install them?
I have a 2014 R1200GS. Here in the USA they use ethanol additive in the fuel. In turn it causes some of the gas tanks to swell a little making the tank cover have a gap on both sides of the tank cover. It will not lay flush. Have you got any suggestion on how to fix this problem other than replacing the 1250 dollar gas tank. Thanks.
help needed, just been given all clear after heart attack, gsa1250 abs sensor replaced but cannot remember how to refit the panels! any help is greatly appreciated mike
Hi Steve. At 19.33, specifically the silver piece of bodywork that’s attached to the rest of the front bodywork that you’re holding, is it possible to remove/refit it on its own? Thinking about re spraying it. Thanks for all the effort on these videos
@@simonwebb1976 it’s possible, but indeed you have to remove the black bodywork panel loose first. I have just done it on my r1250 GSA 2021. For the same reason: had them resprayed. It’s a job worth the effort I feel.
Hi, would you be so kind as to tell me the dimensions of the bracket that holds the Denali sound bomb? I saw that it is no longer in production and I have to make it. Thank you very much
Hello. There are multiple soundbomb mounts for the r1250gs now. We sell them all…..abikething.com/shop/filter-tax=bikes:69%2C68%2C66%2C65;product_cat:186
We don’t generally remove the silver part as it comes off with the black plastic but once the main black plastic is off, you flip it over and it reveals the screws that attach the silver section
