Hello from the US Paul (Las Vegas), amazing detail in your video, no apology needed for the length as it was an excellent detailed block of instruction!!!
Great vid Paul. Nice to see someone else having a go. My only word of advice is to not recommend the Denali extensions as a dedicated harness from ezcan to light pod. The extension is designed to be an extension to get to lights pods that might be that little bit further away. Denali include the appropriate lengths with their cansmarts sku WHS.018 whereas Hex provide a harness kit separately to specifically reach the pods from the back. We sell singular ones of these H1-EXT-001
Hi Steve, do you pricematch? the nippynormans prices are better but I like you more, I'd like to buy off of you but must pay attention to the buck as well
Hello Paul.Just finished my fitting of the lights following your video. Thanks for that.A good addition is the Denali b6 rear light which is easily installed without the use of my usual tools, a hammer and gaffa tape.
Brilliant video and made installing the D3s and hex ezcan so much easier. Also discovered that the brightness can be changed on the fly with the wonder wheel. Now to connect the keiss heated gear 👍
I do appreciate a well made item, maybe I’m getting old and cynical but I couldn’t spend £20 on a short cable extension. Great video & thanks for the detailed walk through.
Thanks, I removed the side panels etc to make sure that none of the cables were going to snag on any of the suspension sensors or melt by touching hot areas, but yes you can do it that way. 😁
I'll be doing similar myself. My bike is due soon, for 1st week in Jan, and I have a nice set of D4s to install. Looking forward to installing mine. A very similar install to yours, except mine will be a single channel (both lights on same circuit, so not left/right separated). With regards to NippyNorman, I had a horrible experience with them, so never again for me. Plenty of other suppliers out there, thankfully.
@@gsd32i well, yesterday I wired up my front D4 lights. I didn't take off all the side panels, but managed to route the cables very similar to you, but slightly different in one or two areas. Overall, I'm happy. I'm only using the one connection for the D4s. I set the daytime at 20%, night at 30%, and obviously 100% on full beam. Tomorrow I've to take off the rear section, to add the rear T3 pods. Those will run as brake and indicators. That should keep me occupied for a while.
Your video convinced me that extra lights on my R1250 GSA is the way to go! … grateful if you’d answer one query I have; I can’t find where I can order the hybrid lenses 🤔. Thank you in advance.
Hi, thanks. In the box you will get a set of spot lenses and as set of hybrid lenses, so no need to buy any. The yellow lenses and orange lenses are options that the you pay for. enjoy the lights.
My ocd won't let me mount on the standard gs crash bars can't abide the offset from overhead, fitted mine using @abikething light mount under the beak. Top quality light pods the Denali 👍
Great video and enjoying the content, especially as I’m about to get a new GS1250 TE triple black. How are you getting on with the front indicators being on as a drl? Read about some having trouble with cars pulling out on then thinking they’re turning. Could change the lights out but unsure whether that’d void the warranty.
Hi, I bet that you are looking at things to buy whilst waiting? 🙄 I had these kind of front indicators on my Africa Twin and I never had an issue with them and on the BM I have no problem with them. As you can see on my videos I have put a few bits on the bike and I love the Denali stuff. I am not a great fan of the multi function indicators on the back..I wish BMW would change those.Great bike👍
Thanks Paul for another great “how to”. Every time I watch one of your videos my wallet sounds an alarm: “Ching, Ching”. I fear that if I attempt this, my GS after reassembly will look like something Picasso painted. Cheers mate from Canada. 👍
Hi Paul, thank you for this video which helps quite a bit! I wonder whether you could use other crashbar mounts than from Denali? They seem to be horribly overpriced for what you get!
Hi Paul, Thanks for your time and effort creating these videos. Regarding OEM lighting have you any thoughts about the multifunction front & rear indicators? Just got a brand new GS and the more I think about it the more I’m concerned about their safety WRT to the way they look to other road users?
Hi and thanks. Its something that has concerned me and others ,but as yet I haven't had an issue with it. There are some pricey replacements out their just on the market. I am hoping that BMW will be doing a software update, but who knows. I have heard that the new Bmw's have the software option to turn off the self cancelling bit too, not a fan of SC indicators myself. Apparently it's in the vehicle settings, lights, comfort or something like that. Ride safe 👍
Hi GSD321, do you have the BMW lower crash bars ( that mount your D3s)? And are you happy with the silver (crash bars) seeing as you have a triple black? Regards David
Hi, yes am more than happy with the silver bars....if I scuff them it doesn't show and you can rub them down if you need to, to tidy them up...well thats what the dealer advised when I was ordering the bits for the bike.
It will be interesting to see them in action at night. Particularly, how strong are they are in relation to the standard headlight, as strong again or twice as bright etc? I realise you are familiar with and happy to use Denalis but I'm curious whether you looked at alternatives such as Baja Designs. The D3s have 2100 lumens. I have a pair of BD Squadron Pros mounted on my GS and they have 4900 lumens and really are very bright with an excellent beam pattern. When you had the D3s on your bike on high beam I was surprised they didn't look overwhelmingly bright on the camera.
Hi Geoff I’ve had Denalis before and to be honest it’s really the only brand that I know when it comes to lighting , sad but true. Night shoot planned in the next few nights . I have already been out at night just to get the Denalis angled correct so not too dazzle oncoming motorists or indeed the motorists that you are riding right behind . I don’t ride at night as a rule ! I was surprised by the standard GS headlight as it wasn’t brilliant 🙈 the D3’s were impressive though …….
@@gsd32i you are one of the first that has said the standard headlight isn’t outstanding. I completely agree. I’m a bit of a light nerd and expected something quite a bit better. It’s adequate but definitely could be better. I run my driving lights on 10% in daytime and off on low beam at night as they are really a bit bright for oncoming traffic.
@@gnmurray5955 first time I used the headlight was on the way back from my Alps trip a few months ago . just an early morning , 5am ride of 40 minutes to the ferry terminal to come home and I was disappointed how inadequate the lights were , even with the oem driving lights fitted… hence the Denalis going on . I’ve mounted the D3 on the lower bars so Possibly not ideal but initial report for me is they make a huge difference . 👍
