I've just wanted to let you know that I've spent the whole weekend watching your videos, learning and understanding them. I've passed my test, it was my fourth time trying and I want to say thanks.
You should give gas in all cars really. It's to do with the car's computer and how much help it gives you, if you don't give gas the computer has too. Best not rely on the computer when all cars are different and best learn the skill so you can drive all cars.
@@asavlogsalltruthrevealed7483 I have a little 2008 5 door Reno Clio so even on a flat surface I need revs to pull away. I can creep around very slowly with just the clutch but I have to be very careful or it will stall. However in my instructors car (a ford focus st or something like that) I can pull away with just the clutch. I think it’s to do with how modern the car is and maybe the engine size?

Now I have got my confidence back. I was so disappointed on me today as I was looking right for oncoming cars and My steering, speed, gear, position everything was wrong. Thanks a lot Richard. No one understand learners like us better than you. Hat’s off to you Sir.
I wish you were my instructor. These videos are so much better than the way my instructor is explaining EVERYTHING! You're an amazing teacher and explain things so well, breaking it down nicely.

Your bit about learners deciding too early is literally what I have been doing and it's caused me so much anxiety because my instructor kept telling me off and I didn't realize what I was doing wrong until after.
Wow Amazing! I did apply your method in today's lesson and you know I wasn't panic at all and I didn't stall even once at junctions. Thank you so much for making it easy for learners.
Hey man, deepest gratitude for your content here. Your vids are the perfect complement to actual driving lessons. (I especially found this one useful.) Passed 1st time today, 2 minors. Thanks a lot!
Really good explanations. Thank you. I've been an instructor for 45 years and I sometimes look for helpful videos to recommend to my pupils as 'homework'. I often pick fault in other instructional videos that I've seen on TH-cam but yours are extremely helpful and clear and a lot of your expressions, opinions and methods are the same as mine, especially the MSPSL routine. Thanks again and expect some more subscribers soon as I'll be telling my pupils where to watch you.
I've had 5 double lessons so far, and while I took the first 3 to even start comprehending the car, the progress I made on my last 2 sessions is owed to your amazing videos! The steering was one of my issues and this has now mostly been resolved by watching a couple of your videos - my instructor said I was a different person! I am so excited about learning now at 34, I really look forward to my lessons, and knowing that your channel is here for me, I am simply enjoying my learning journey. SO MUCH FUN. See you on the road and thank you soooo much! :D
I had a really lousy confidence trashing session earlier this week getting just about everything wrong without knowing why or how to improve. My instructor could only tell me that I'm thinking too much without much concrete advice. This video really hit head, indeed I was too busy looking out for cars and trying to decide if it was safe or not, leading to wrong speed, wrong gears, over/under braking. I'm going to keep this in mind for my next lesson!

I have a licence but I didn't drive after I passed the exam, life happened. So now I'm taking some live lessons, but I've found your channel and find your advice SO helpful to remember things and relearn. I moved to Switzerland recently and my test was done in Croatia, so I have to keep in mind that you ride 'on the other side of the road'. However, I'm noticing that what you're teaching and what they're testing is really in depth. I liked my Croatian instructors, because they explained things, but you've showed some things I always wondered how they look but didn't look it up (or fortog by the time I got to the computer), and having it all in one place, systematically, is pure awesomeness. Thank you for doing this and sharing with the world!
Your videos are very helpful. You explaining every tiny mistake that a learner can do is so reassuring that its okay, happens with all the learners. I'm not alone in this and yes most importantly learning a lot through your videos.

Thank you Richard for your very clear explanation on how to approach junction. As a learner driver, your videos has given me my confidence back and I am not dreading of my driving lessons anymore

Hi Richards. I have been following ur videos since taking driving lesson so far I have taken 16×2 lesson I mean 32 hours ...but after watching ur this video now I understood where I was going wrong I took long to understand this routine too mirror ,signal, position speed and look wasted so much time and the amount of stress I took all this time not being able to understand or follow this routine.....painful.. But thanks to your routine which I m keeping in my mind approaching junctions and roundabout. So thankful to you for making it easy for new learners like me.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I really wish my instructor had explained it as clearly. He just mentioned that for turns, I should aim for a speed of 12 mph. Now I understand that for open junctions, it’s better to be in second gear, aiming for 10 mph, while for closed junctions, first gear with the clutch down at around 5 mph is ideal. I’ll also keep in mind to slow down and complete the mirror-signal-speed-gear (MSSG) routine earlier, allowing myself about 5 seconds to make a decision. In the past, I’ve rushed and didn’t leave enough time to lift the clutch after changing gear, which often led to coasting during turns. This video has been incredibly helpful-thank you again!
That was awesome! Great way of explaining everything. Wish my driving instructor was like you. Mine just sits there in silence and makes broody faces. Meh. Learnt more from you in this video than ever did in past sessions with her.
I always make a mistake in judging when approaching the junction because I tend to think everything because of the MSPSL. I usually ending up not bended left or very too close to the curb. I am on my 3rd lesson about left junction and my instructor wanted me to do it perfectly. I will try this method on my 4th lesson leaving a lot of time to decide. Thanks God I found your channel. This will be very helpful as I started late in deciding to learn how to drive as I am in 40s already. Thanks for the videos.
I find these videos so useful. I am learning a lot from them. These are explained really well. I find it helpful that not only do you get shown/told how to so something but you are given an example or a reason as to why not to do it a certain way. Thank you
Thank you so much! I think you have every remedies to my driving problems, I recently nearly got myself in accident due to trying to changing gears downhill before slowing down, so I recommend everyone to practice with most trusted physical instructor. I've been teached by my friend who was not good at all.
You are a very good and calm Instructor. I had my driving license after 2nd attempt here in Hungary. My driving instructir was a cocky nerve-wreck. He was only able to shout at you when you made mistakes.. I hade to take 45 hours to pass ( I have never driven car before). The guys and girls in UK are lucky to have Instructors like you..
Watched this video 3 times last night for my test this morning. It worked like a charm. Had my test. Switched the Engine off and got out. My instructor came over. 10 minors. He went through them....then said well done you've passed! I had to ask him to repeat himself. I was certain I had failed. Thank you Richard for your videos. They've been a great help :)
Just want to say a massive thank you for this video and explanation! My test is soon approaching and I was struggling with the “MSPSL” - just had a lesson and used your tips! Worked every time!
I'm taking auto driving lessons in singapore (also RHD!) my first lesson didn't go very well for all the learner driver anecdotes which you mentioned. Now that i've watched your video it's so helpful, and definitely will bring this knowledge to future lessons. Thanks a lot man
I'm on it, they take me a while and I do it in my spare time so I struggle to do more than 1 every three weeks. In the future when I have more subscribers and earn some money from the channel I hope to be able to teach less and make more videos.
I’ve seen this video more than 3 times .. Thank you so much for simplifying driving for us and making it easy to understand … I’ve got my driving test tomorrow… watching your videos back to back 😊
Just wanted to come back to this video as i remember watching it over and over in my early days driving Failed twice before but finally passed today with only 2 minors! I owe that at least in part to your content so thank you!
To everyone. I did Driving Lesson with my dad and it was Good in my power, But i was tired and knew it wasn't gonna go well. He said "Thats it no more lessons". At that moment I knew He gave up on me. Well I don't need him. I'll Learn myself with people who are willing. The only one who can beat me is me. Remember This - Power Forward and Don't value people who are Bad.
Lets break things down a little - M S M* routine where M* becomes (Position Speed (proper gear needed to move on/off adjusted to your current speed) Look* (L - look, A - asses, D - decide, A - act)) :) Great video btw.
Thank you for what you're doing for young drivers. It's super helpful. I am from Bulgaria and we drive on the right; our roundabouts are anticlockwise. Still, your explanations about the clutch, changing gear, signalling, etc. are deeply appreciated.
Huge help. For ages I found it tricky to figure out when to change gear down for junctions, always felt I was doing it too late, thanks for making such great videos.
I am learning stop and go at a junction today. I made those mistakes repeatedly but I didn't know why. Afterwards watching the video, I will defer my "decision" after doing the speed and gears. Thanks.
Thank you! I've been thinking for a while now that MSPSL isn't getting me anywhere, and doesnt give me enough opportunity to change gear, but you've articulated a practical alternative really well! I'm going to try this on my next lesson 😌
This video is very useful, Recently failed my first test for not making good observations at a junction, giving me a dangerous fault cause of my severe nerves. I suddenly saw the junction and acted too quickly cause of my speed. My examiner wasn’t impressed, working to try and to better for my next test. Your videos are great!
got my test in 2 hours and these videos helped my driving come on so much. I feel like most instructors are petrol heads and have this idea that people just know gears, they forget their are people like me who sees it as a vehicale from a to b only and had no idea how gears worked. I remember my original instructor asked me what gear should it have been in when I first stalled at a junction and he looked annoyed at my blank expression despite never telling me. Honestly between my new instructor and these videos I have come on leaps and bounds. Unfortunately COVID has caused my test to be in a centre in the next town over where I have never been so I am gonna have to be extra cautious
On the contrary I find instructors are rarely petrol heads, but that doesn't stop someone from expecting you to know it. I hope you did well on your test 🤞 and I'm happy to hear the videos have helped you.
I so wish you were my instructor! You understand us learners and teach in a way that makes driving experience easier. My RED instructor does exactly the opposite. He wants me to follow the MSPSL routine to the T which makes me drift away from my lane because I waste too much time looking left right left. At closed junctions I prefer the clutch down in first gear as you said but my instructor tells me off for doing this. He says that after changing gear I must bring the clutch all the way and then focus more on looking left right left!
Thank you. I'm sorry to hear this, it's best to listen to your instructor and try their methods or change instructor. Trying to go against them won't help. But it does sound like a challenging method for a new driver if you have to have the clutch up at closed junctions. This would make the car too fast if it truly is a closed junction.
@@ConquerDriving Exactly. He says the opposite that having the clutch down will make the car go faster at closed junctions. I’m soon changing my instructor anyway.
Hi, this video was really helpful for me I’m new and just had 4 lessons and not easy for me also I’m Thai and learning driving in uk . Thanks for your videos
I totally agreed with you, focus on controlling the car and where to stop instead of looking at the traffic around the round about too early, first speed down or where you should stop then make the decision. Once I steered to the wrong side of the road as I was looking to traffic on that side instead where I was going to stop.
Here in manila, there’s so much going on, your mirror checks often gets old by the time you make a decision. What I personally do though is constantly glimpse the rear view mirrors and always mind my positioning. 100 meters or so before the turn i start my routine which is SPEED (slow down) maybe upto 10kmph at 30 meters before the turn, SIGNAL, mirrors, then decide. Still checking the mirrors as I turn because theres sooooo many BAD drivers here; as in they have no discipline or education whatsoever! So a motorcycle or a cyclist might cut you as you turn. Also, failed my first driving exam because of a motorized tricycle overtook me on my left as i’m making a left turn. Just a fun cultural exchange. Cheerio. Thank you so much for your videos. They’re awesome. You’re awesome.
Thank you so much for this video! This is just what I needed to be more confident when approaching roundabouts. I am so ready for my next driving lesson :)
Hiya Richard I am on my 5th 2 hour lesson as of tomorrow and currently on junction and I love your new interpretation of mspsl. I will be using this in future. Your videos are extremely useful for me! Thankyou for using your spare time for these! I have subscribed and look forward to your latest ones 😊 stay safe x
Really appreciate this video, I was really looking forward to applying it in my next lesson and then I sprained my ankle so no lessons for me until it heals.. Will be watching lots of videos for now!
Very good video indeed. Started as a pdi last week. Pupils get confused because turning left they diagonally position their car towards the end of the manoeuvre on the left corner. Where the position comes after the speed.
I have a habit of bringing the clutch up too high at a give way after changing to 1st gear and then going straight to the breaks when the car jumps instead of keeping the clutch low and using the biting point. So frustrating when otherwise had a good lesson this video helped out a lot👍🏻
Excellent routine! Just going through your videos for recaps before my test! Regardless of whether or not I pass, I've found the channel very useful considering I've mainly been supervised and have been unable to book many lessons before my test. Plan to continue watching these videos for a while yet!
@@ConquerDriving Did alright in the test, 7 minors, 3 of which for "Progress - Appropriate Speed" failed me for being too slow, hovering 20 or below in a couple side roads! Would've passed had I not let a car overtake me literally on the last road as I was about to turn back into the driving centre! Despite the failure, I'm fairly confident in being able to pass now, hopefully knowing some of the test route since it's not my usual area will help next time. Thanks for the videos again, has proved to be helpful :)
Thanks, very helpful. I'm returning to driving after many years of not doing it and have been fumbling a bit at junctions and roundabouts. I get round them and haven't had any unpleasant incidents but have been getting in a muddle as I reach the line. Because I'm so concentrated on getting past the junction or roundabout and have set my speed and position if I have to make a last minute adjustment I go a bit blank, (but obviously I correct things). It's all very clunky and rather nerve-wracking because I'm still thinking every action through rather than doing it naturally. I too don't like the MSPSL method, your one sounds much more practical and sensible.
I've just wanted to let you know that I've spent the whole weekend watching your videos, learning and understanding them. I've passed my test, it was my fourth time trying and I want to say thanks.

@@ConquerDriving hi why do u have to give gas in some cars before bringung to biting point?

Thank you!
lol, sounds like my old instructor
Watched this video 3 times last night for my test this morning. It worked like a charm. Had my test. Switched the Engine off and got out. My instructor came over. 10 minors. He went through them....then said well done you've passed! I had to ask him to repeat himself. I was certain I had failed. Thank you Richard for your videos. They've been a great help :)
That's great to hear, congratulations on passing!
Just want to say a massive thank you for this video and explanation! My test is soon approaching and I was struggling with the “MSPSL” - just had a lesson and used your tips! Worked every time!
I'm happy to be of help :)
I'm taking auto driving lessons in singapore (also RHD!) my first lesson didn't go very well for all the learner driver anecdotes which you mentioned. Now that i've watched your video it's so helpful, and definitely will bring this knowledge to future lessons. Thanks a lot man
Can you make more vedios please your explanation is perfect and informative understandable
I'm on it, they take me a while and I do it in my spare time so I struggle to do more than 1 every three weeks. In the future when I have more subscribers and earn some money from the channel I hope to be able to teach less and make more videos.
I’ve seen this video more than 3 times .. Thank you so much for simplifying driving for us and making it easy to understand … I’ve got my driving test tomorrow… watching your videos back to back 😊
Just wanted to come back to this video as i remember watching it over and over in my early days driving
Failed twice before but finally passed today with only 2 minors!
I owe that at least in part to your content so thank you!
That's great to hear, thank you and congratulations on passing!
You deserve it, master teacher in Driving
To everyone. I did Driving Lesson with my dad and it was Good in my power, But i was tired and knew it wasn't gonna go well. He said "Thats it no more lessons".
At that moment I knew He gave up on me. Well I don't need him. I'll Learn myself with people who are willing.
The only one who can beat me is me.
Remember This - Power Forward and Don't value people who are Bad.
Another amazing video tutorial to watch. The key feature to approach a junction for a new learner is to take things one at a time. I totally agree.
this guy is the best teacher ever. Omg this vid is so helpful u wont believe it.👍👍👍
Exactly like I wasn’t actually looking before. 😅You’re such a good instructor
I really needed this video as I’ve been struggling with this routine!! There’s just so much to remember and I get so nervous 😩
I hope it helps.
Conquer Driving It did but I panicked in today’s lesson and my nerves made me mess up the routine!!
Lets break things down a little - M S M* routine where M* becomes (Position Speed (proper gear needed to move on/off adjusted to your current speed) Look* (L - look, A - asses, D - decide, A - act)) :) Great video btw.
1:16 Absolute legend 😂
I cant believe how many times I had issues with this. Finally I can show this to my instructor because “Look” in a manoeuvre doesn’t make sense
Thank you for what you're doing for young drivers. It's super helpful.
I am from Bulgaria and we drive on the right; our roundabouts are anticlockwise. Still, your explanations about the clutch, changing gear, signalling, etc. are deeply appreciated.
Thank you!
it is very clear not only the explanation but also the pronunciation to someone whose first language is not English, thank you so much.
You're welcome
Thanks for the advice!! I'm about to have my driving lesson and I was unsure but now I'm way more confident.
Thank you soo much for this, this is something I’ve been having a problem with, I thank god I came across your channel 🙏🏽
Thank you, I'm glad it's helping you.
You are the best! Very clear and easy to understand. Forget about speed before junction is my issue. Now I know….
Absolutely love watching your videos. You explain everything so simple!
Thank you so much i am also forgetting gear when junction came. Thanks for your explanation.
hi, I just wanted to thank you that i have passed my driving test today and your videos really helped me through this. Thank you so much
That's great news, congratulations on passing!
The Best video on approaching Junctions and round abouts, Thank you 👍
U are the best, I do understand u more than my driving instructor 😄
This video is very useful, Recently failed my first test for not making good observations at a junction, giving me a dangerous fault cause of my severe nerves. I suddenly saw the junction and acted too quickly cause of my speed. My examiner wasn’t impressed, working to try and to better for my next test. Your videos are great!
Good luck with your next test!
my driving instructor got mad today because i couldn’t turn into a junction properly with msp blah blah but this helped me 1000%
got my test in 2 hours and these videos helped my driving come on so much.
Conquer Driving I passed first time with 9 minors in a city I don’t know so very happy
Making sure your mirrors are set so your peripheral vision will notice objects may help you.
Amazing video Sir...
Too much things to learn in this video..
Thank you so much
honestly amazing. I find junctions confusing and this video cleared up a lot
Wow! You're great in explanations. Will never forget after this video. Thanks alot.
You're welcome
Omg I kept forgetting the gear today!!! I'm gonna follow your advice now and try it on my next lesson! Thank you!!
Mate, just taking up driving again after a long time off the wheel. Best and clearest explanations I've found, cheers!
Thank you so much for this video! This is just what I needed to be more confident when approaching roundabouts. I am so ready for my next driving lesson :)
Thanks!
You're very welcome, good luck 🤞
Thank you very much for your videos. I cannot express enough how much helpful your videos are. Very grateful here.
"I have taken away position" - instant thumbs up from me. I absolutely hate that order.
Fab. Thank you. Im an over thinker when it comes to junctions, but this has really helped me.
Really appreciate this video, I was really looking forward to applying it in my next lesson and then I sprained my ankle so no lessons for me until it heals.. Will be watching lots of videos for now!
Glad I can help, better sprain your ankle than your wrist as you're very talented at piano.
Conquer Driving haha, thank you!
It makes sense well explained
Very good video indeed. Started as a pdi last week. Pupils get confused because turning left they diagonally position their car towards the end of the manoeuvre on the left corner. Where the position comes after the speed.
Thank you, very useful video!I"m thinking to get back to driving after 10 years gap. So stressed.
Omg this literally helped me so much!!
I'm very happy to hear that.
I have a habit of bringing the clutch up too high at a give way after changing to 1st gear and then going straight to the breaks when the car jumps instead of keeping the clutch low and using the biting point. So frustrating when otherwise had a good lesson this video helped out a lot👍🏻
Try to take your time, if you do it more slowly you will find it easier to succeed.
The best Instructor
Excellent routine! Just going through your videos for recaps before my test! Regardless of whether or not I pass, I've found the channel very useful considering I've mainly been supervised and have been unable to book many lessons before my test. Plan to continue watching these videos for a while yet!
Thank you, I'm happy to hear that I'm helping you.
@@ConquerDriving
Did alright in the test, 7 minors, 3 of which for "Progress - Appropriate Speed" failed me for being too slow, hovering 20 or below in a couple side roads!
That's very helpful. I got taught only go into first when I stop.
You only really want 1st if you go below 5mph (walking speed). You can use second above that.
I passed first time today. Thanks for the help in the videos mate 6 minors ill take it. Don't over think it guys just drive and pay attention.
That's great to hear, congratulations on passing!
This is incredible. So helpful. Thank you!
Didn't pass my test today because of one bad approach to a junction. I knew it was bad, but hey ho. Today wasn't the day. Thanks for these videos.
Advanced motorcycle we use IPSGA. INFORMATION. POSITION SPEED.GEAR. ACCELORATION . ROADSMART THIS WORKS WELL FOR ALL MANOVERS😁
Just started my training and this is really helpful. Thank you!
