Hey man, just wanted to say thank you for all your content. I'm an experienced driver from abroad (20 years driving), and been living in the UK for the last year. Today I passed my practical, and your channel was massively helpful in understanding the quirks of driving on UK roads. It is really much appreciated that you do this, and anyone looking to learn how to drive properly, and is in the process of doing so, is in the right place. Again, thank you!
One thing i learned is learning what gear you will need at the junction you are approaching. Some roundabouts let you be in 3rd gear, other that are smaller usually will need gear 2 like doing 90 degree turns. I feel like once you understand what you will be doing, you will learn to prepare for it. So if you know you are turning you will slow to second gear before hand making it easier to drop to first gear if for example a person is crossing. Pre planning is very good skill to have in driving, it is what i feel to be the main skill

This was a great video and very informative. Thanks. Regarding going down the gears one at a time. the ANXIETY you gave me at 1:35 when stopping behind the white Fiat!! haha
This is how driving instructors can feel sometimes.
This video highlights the time honoured tradition of ensuring that the driver tracks the speed and gear together all the time... thereby insuring that the car is in the correct gear prior to it being asked to accelerate, (or de- accelerate) which leaves the hands and brain free for dealing with other things. Also by developing the "hand muscle memory" of always pushing the gear lever forward as the car passes through walking pace to standstill will ensure that the moment the vehicle is stationery your hand can be on the handbrake, and you are ready to find the throttle/biting point and ready to go. Even if you get distracted whilst sitting there, the car is in the correct configuration to move off for when you get your act together!!😉👍
😂 you’re so funny while teaching us. ❤
I've been using that technique since I started driving. Not because I'm smart, but because I suck at starting the car.

been watching your videos and just clocked that these videos are from Colly
2:02 I don't know why but the way you gently flicked the gear lever after stopping so sharply cracked me up
Haha, yes, that is a bit unrealistic as most new drivers would grab it hard and force it.
Thanks for doing this for us newbies :-)
