James Gunn confirmed that when Groot says “I love you guys” he’s actually still saying “I am groot” it’s just that we are finally hearing him like they do.
@@SirSpitsAlotable He says that's why Gamora understood him. Thor wasn't "part of the family" when they met in Infinity War, he and Rocket speak as if it's a language that's learned. It's small inconsistencies like these that don't give me hope for Gunn's DCCU. He's great at small emotional moments but he's not very good at world building.

No matter how many times I've seen this, "Hurts," gets me every time. It got to the guys as well. It's such a great moment and shows just how good Gunn is at storytelling. One word just tears you to shreds.
One thing I love about this movie is seeing how the guardians treat/think of each other. In the first, they obviously don't care for one another cause they're just forced together. Even in the second theyre kinda antagonistic to each other, although better. In this, they care so deeply about each other and no longer teammates but family, as they will do anything they can to save their friend.
Someone you missed is Ura, the pink receptionist in Orgoscope. She's Daniela Melchior, who plays the Ratcatcher in The Suicide Squad. Gunn really loves his team. Also, Linda Cardellini plays Lylla, her second MCU character after playing Laura Barton.
What's more, the character was actually created so that it could be voiced by Stan Lee instead of making a physical appearance as was commonplace in previous films (to make it easier to include). Had they kept James Gunn and GotG v.3 not gotten delayed, it's possible that this would have been Stan Lee's last role in a Marvel film.
The “don’t be rash” part got me good when I saw it in theaters. Any jokes or funny parts including Adam hit the best for me in this movie, not all of them but a good portion.
Nebula having such a reaction to hearing Rocket being ok is great because you have to remember that Nebula and Rocket were the only ones not 'Blipped', so they had 5 years together to really bond
With this movie, Guardians cemented itself as one of my favorite movie trilogies ever. Also, this might be the only movie I have ever watched where fake out deaths actually enhanced the movie. Everyone expected SOMEONE to die in this movie when in reality, no one needed to. It just shows how much James Gunn cares about these characters and wanted to make sure their endings were perfect. I love this movie even more every rewatch, every reaction I watch, every time I think about it.
This might be the first time a fake out death got me. I genuinely thought Star Lord was dead, especially with the way his eyes glazed over and face puffed up. It was incredibly emotional when he got rescued, as well as Rocket's fake out earlier in the movie. I wasn't tricked by it, but the scene was phenomenal, especially Pratt's acting there.
I would say they already had their allotted death with OG Gamora but yeah, there’s frequently an expectation with these kind of stories that someone has to die but this movie proves that sometimes, having everybody survive is more cathartic
I love the interaction between Gamora and Groot right when she understands him. It’s such a sweet moment because when you think about it she was kinda his mom. So he’s probably happy to see her too.
Something I love with this movie and the first movie? In Volume 1 they defeat Ronan in a dance off, and with the end of Volume 3, the cast we've grown to love have one final dance for us. Music is a POWERFUL communicator because it's something we can all understand. James Gunn is a master of emotion and cinema, and this movie was a masterpiece.
Such an emotional movie. One of the MCU's absolute best. Gunn really knows how to make an amazing film, and i have no doubt he will carry that energy into Superman and beyond
The kid who was on the team at the end, Phyla, seems to be an MCU interpretation of Phyla-Vell, who was the daughter of Mar-Vell in the comics and had Captain Marvel powers. In that last shot it does look like her fists are glowing very similar to how Carol's do...
There's a little bit of a jealousy thing going on with the High Evolutionary and Rocket. I think the boots were such a great little nod to Rocket being the better inventor (even though it wasn't intentional on his part). That's how you do foreshadowing.
@@AuspexAO It's also to my mind a clear message that, while it was satisfying to watch the Guardians team stomp the HE, Rocket could have done it all on his own.
@@AuspexAO Unquestionably. It's part of why he's so obsessed with Rocket, going back to Rocket's youth. He can't stand that this "flawed experiment" is better than he is and his insane standards of perfection won't allow him to see that Rocket might be what he was trying to achieve all along.
What's more, is that it's just something Rocket came up with in his downtime. HE said that he spent YEARS to give himself gravity powers. Rocket's counter came from messing around for an afternoon.
“Legendary Star-Lord” was the title of a relatively short comics series from almost ten years ago, it’s about Peter trying to hold down a relationship with Kitty Pryde from the X-Men on Earth while doing solo space adventures after the Guardians break up. With how the movie ends and the impending introduction of mutants, “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return” is likely a hint about what the next movie will be about.
Knowing Rocket’s full story now, ending on the shot of him howling in glee towards the sky is the perfect ending for him. The same can be said for Nebula, now having seemingly finally shed the sharper edges of her persona that she was still holding on to.
Rockets first word being "hurts" absolutely kills me. I went into this expecting some Guardians 1 and 2 level fun and wound up fighting back tears for 2 hours and I loved every minute of it. 10/10
I've kinda been on a binge watching reactions to this, almost trying to numb myself to it (not working by the way, still crying every time) and you guys are the first "men" who have actually cried at it. Who haven't tried to hide it. It's such a touching story, told so well, showing such raw emotion. So thank you for showing it the love it deserves. Thank you.
32:36 It made perfect sense. ever time he tried using the arrow is was all in his head. so right now he used his heart which answered to protect his friends and family
I'm trying to think about the others, but Captain America is the only one I can think of that's close? Only second to Guardians because the first one wasn't as strong as the others, although 2 and 3 were EXTREMELY well done. But Guardians was real strong across all three.
@@galmorzu I actually thought the second one was a dud and the first one is one of the best in the MCU. Third one though? After a lot of time thinking about it, I'd actually say best MCU film, period. I did think of putting Winter Soldier over it but I think I partially only love that one because I'm supposed to love it. As a trilogy I'd still put Captain America above it, but it's really freaking close.
@@galmorzuI honestly prefer the 1st over the 2nd one. I feel like the comedy & the story hit more. GOTG1 is one of the best films in the MCU showing the team’s origin as a dysfunctional family, Peter’s connection with his mother, & setting the pieces in the Infinity Saga with Thanos & the Power Stone. Vol. 2 had a better villain tho IMO & a heartwarming theme about fathers. Vol. 3 is definitely my favorite in the franchise with an emotional Rocket backstory & send-off for this version of the team. High Evolutionary is definitely the best GOTG villain. Captain America is definitely my 2nd favorite MCU franchise. The Winter Soldier is dark and top-tier & Civil War is great. Both films have badass moments with interesting villains. The Avengers would probably be next for me. The 1st film, Infinity War, & Endgame were just iconic/history-making from the first assembling to Thanos’ quest and a full circle end to a decade-long saga. Spider-Man would probably be right after that for me. I loved Peter’s arc in Homecoming & Vulture’s motives. No Way Home was a amazing crossover of 3 separate eras with legendary callbacks and great performances like Green Goblin. It was also a perfect reset for the struggling street-level hero. Deadpool 1 & 2 were FOX projects but if we were counting them, that franchise could end up near or at the top of my list depending on how well DP3 does with his & Wolverine’s long-awaited, R-rated MCU debut.
The first GOTG was my mom’s favorite comic book movie ever, sadly she passed away from cancer complications in 2015 at just 65 years old. What hooked her to the movie at first was the soundtrack of many of the songs she grew up on, but then she loved it so much that she became a fan of the MCU. It’s why this franchise has a very special place in my heart. So when Dog Days Are Over (ANOTHER favorite of mine and my mom’s) was playing and the Guardians were celebrating/moving on with their lives, I was a wreck. Not out of pain of loss, but of remembering the good times I had with my mom. As for the movie itself, it’s one of my top 10 favorite comic book movies ever, as well as an all time favorite. With a supervillain I have never wanted to kill more than The High Evolutionary. And I love that the song that was played to send off the Guardians Of The Galaxy was the first song we as the audience heard when we saw Peter in the opening titles of Vol 1. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go listen to Come And Get Your Love by Redbone!
It’s been a hot minute since an MCU movie made me cry so much and it was over a RACCOON. Anyway, I love Rocket and I think Guardians of the Galaxy has the most solid trilogy in the entire MCU.
All of the scenes with Rocket, Lylla, Teefs, and Floor get me teary-eyed or crying; even the one where they're running around playing. And then the ending, forget about it.
Jesus guys. I didn’t cry when I watched this movie in theaters, why did I cry watching you guys react to this movie? This was one for your best reactions, hands down.
Eric is perpetually me. As soon as creep started, I looked at him on the screen and said "oh yeah Eric, you're in for a tough one, prepare the tissues".
Something I forgot about until after seeing this movie: Nebula and Rocket were the only surviving Guardians during the blip. They were all that was left of their family for 5 years.
The collective is once again joining against Eric's opinion on CGI Cosmo. The dog has to emote, in a human-like fashion, act like it's using telekinesis, turn and talk to people on command while wearing a space suit. It makes NO sense to have a real dog as Cosmo and do that horrific just the face style CG. Or just leave the dogs face emotionless while having lines come out of the collar. On a separate note, I really wanted to see their reaction to the "HOW DID YOU KNOW" scene as it was one of favourites, sadly it was left out, so I'll have to wait for the movie to come out on Disney and watch the full length.
Yeah CGI Cosmo absoluely did not bother me one bit. At all. I thought Cosmo was perfect. Maybe it's because Eric has a dog he sees every day? I don't have a pet dog, just a cat. IF ANYTHING obviously some of the hybrid creatures in the movie like the war pig was noticeable but not nearly enough to pull me out of the movie.
I've had dogs all my life and I literally didn't think about the fact it was Cgi once throughout the entire movie But yes all the way through the movie it was emoting and doing things dog actors wouldn't be able to do, it would make no sense to have it be a real dog
I could be wrong but I imagine that part of the reason they used a CGI for Cosmo is because, outside that turtle put in the chamber, I think every animal and anthropomorphic animal was CGI or makeup/prosthetics. It might actually be more distracting if we accept them as animals but then there’s a real dog and take away from the viewer’s emotional connection with all the clearly fake animals that were central to the story. Keep in mind, they used a real dog in Cosmo’s cameo in the first film so they are very much capable of using one. I can understand the sentiment of having too much senseless CGI clogging up a much overworked industry. Looking at you Thor’s stupid helmet in the last film! But here I can understand why they deemed it the better option to go with CGI Cosmo. If its gonna take you out of the film, it’s best to have it with the secondary character than Rocket and his friends.
To quote Ryan George - "And then Rocket makes some fellow experiments mechanical cute animal friends!" + "But current Rocket doesn't have any cute animal frien...oh"
This movie definitely has the best marvel movie oneshot Also the ending and the implications of James gun leaving marvel made it even more emotional. It was the most I cried in a marvel movie
A perfect way to end their trilogy imo. Great balance of action, emotion, and comedy. Gunn confirmed we finally understand Groot because we as an audience have been around him long enough. The Legendary Star-Lord was its own comic run for a bit, so its totally possible for a solo movie.
James Gunn made a movie with a freaking talking racoon in it, and that racoon made me cry like a little boy! 😂 Superman has never been in better hands!
I had chills running down my spine once rocket screamed in pure pain and sadness after Layla died. The hallway fight scene was just awesome! Ended up crying during so many scenes! Especially at the end as everyone started celebrating and dancing. This trilogy of guardians was great from start to end
I love how Adam Warlock went from being a bit of simpleton to being able to appreciate the music of Adrian Belew as well as the music of King Crimson during Belew's run with the band. Hey... someone had to mention it. I was SO HAPPY when he mentioned Adrian Belew! YAY!
The quick half second cut to the woman screaming after Gamora shot her was so so good. this movie is both the funniest MCU movie and the saddest at the same time. James Gunn did an incredible job.
Rocket is hands down the coolest earthling in the MCU. also i love how it turns out he was abducted from Earth around the same time as Peter (given the aesthetic of Counter Earth).
Cosmo is actually emoting though. I dont think any amout of training can make a dog look like its telekinetically moving a pebble, or 2 huge slabs of concrete or hold 2 ships together. And thats if you ignore the obvious uncomfortable nature of getting a dog in a space suit lmao
I’m kinda shocked that none of them had any reaction to the f-bomb at 21:30. Unlucky that Eric chose that exact moment to say something to the other guys, I guess…
I mean considering its common knowledge every movie can get one f-bomb and remain PG-13, they likely did notice it, but never even cross their mind that it was the first for the MCU. No reason to make a big deal of it, if you think its nothing new or special. I know i wouldn't have ever realized it was a big deal without all the attention it got on social media after the film came out
"I love you guys" Made me tear up. James Gunn confirmed that yeah, the reason the audience can now finally understand Groot is because he considers us family.
Us being able to understand Groot at the end after all this time really hit different man, that felt like a very personal goodbye almost from James, this movie had me tearing up multiple times in the cinema I swear 😂
Gunn and the GotG trilogy is just leagues beyond anything else to come out of the MCU, the endings of Vol.2 and Vol.3 are the only superhero movies to ever make me cry (not ashamed to say I sobbed my god damn heart out to the end of this one, actually). one of the best trilogies in film history?
Strongly disagree on Eric about Cosmo being CG over live action. Yeah it will look more like a physical dog, but it couldn't do even a fraction of the emoting Cosmo does. Not just in the face, but its movement. Cosmo does more than you can accomplish just with training or treats. Cosmo needs to be CG to work
Sure, there are some scenes that require CG, but most of the scenes could have been done without. I think the argument he was making is that the use of CG when it wasn't needed breaks the immersion. Heck, look at some of the old Jim Henson work. In Labyrinth, Fraggle Rock and the Storyteller, they use a real dog in several places and sometimes they use a Muppet. The real dog helps you believe the Muppet.
I really like that the people of Knowhere have such respect and reverence for the Guardians. Even when they’re being jerks, the people want to help them or support them, even coming to their rescue when called. Really makes you think how much of a positive influence the Guardians have been.
UGH! This movie made me cry so much haha! And the fact that they did that at the end with Groot, making us feel like family ...oof! Probably my favorite Guardians movie ❤
I just want to say thank you. I saw this in the theatre and really loved it. Had an itch to revisit the scenes I liked the most so I clicked on this video. My favourite scene is when Pete visits his grandpa again. Seeing that scene again with others also reacting to it felt great, to see others reactions to it fills me with happiness. I'm 35 and I wish I could see my grandpa again, he was like a father to me. All the best.
Feel like the Star Lord return will come back for Avengers 5, when the planet is threatened again, Peter will fight for his home. A Disney+ would be intriguing but i just don’t see them doing a stand-alone star lord project. Especially after his version of the guardians is all but disbanded
My favorite lines from the entire series is Quill and Yondu interaction when Quill tells Yondu that he looks like Mary Poppins. "Is he cool?" "Hell yeah, he's cool."
This is easily one of the best movies in the mcu by far. Now i cant wait to see what James gunn has planned for his new dcu. Given what a great job hes done with suicide squad and peacemaker, i think hes gonna give us a memorable superman movie and maybe the best one yet.
can we give it up for Chris Pratt and Sean Gunn/Bradley Cooper for both leaving everything out there with the two screams, and for Karen Gillan with the perfect sob... my fucking soul, man.
The reason for the aspect ratio change is that you are watching an IMAX-enhanced version of the film on Disney+. Just like seeing it in an IMAX theater, certain scenes have different ratios to include more picture.

Aka Velma lol👌🏻
I forget her name but Scott Lang’s ex wife was the pig thing also.
@@erikrivers1927judy greer ❗️❗️
And strangely Lila is also the name of Laura and Clint's daughter.
The “creepy thing” that Mantis helped escape, was actually James Gunn.
The more you know…..⭐️😂
it was pete davidson lol
What's more, the character was actually created so that it could be voiced by Stan Lee instead of making a physical appearance as was commonplace in previous films (to make it easier to include).
Had they kept James Gunn and GotG v.3 not gotten delayed, it's possible that this would have been Stan Lee's last role in a Marvel film.
James Gunn said that the voice of that creature was meant to Stan Lee as a cameo, but he passed before of it, so James gave his voice to it
The “don’t be rash” part got me good when I saw it in theaters. Any jokes or funny parts including Adam hit the best for me in this movie, not all of them but a good portion.
James Gunn knows how to make all these characters work so well & the music is always amazing! Sad but heartfelt story telling
That is not true.

Sean gunn deserves some cred.
He voiced teen Rocket and is the motion capture ref.
When you see Rocket emoting, that's not Bradley, that's Sean.
What also gets me in this film is that for once Peter was able to actually save someone he cares about
😢that's got me too 😢
Something I love with this movie and the first movie? In Volume 1 they defeat Ronan in a dance off, and with the end of Volume 3, the cast we've grown to love have one final dance for us. Music is a POWERFUL communicator because it's something we can all understand. James Gunn is a master of emotion and cinema, and this movie was a masterpiece.
Hahah talked right over the F bomb. Made me chuckle in the cinema
i know :( my theater lost it on the swear lol
Looks like they noticed/reacted to it. Just not much that you people expect. Plus they've already seen it in the trailer before.

Literally stopped the reaction to find this comment LOL Had me laughing at such a sad part of the movie lol
9:30 eric grabbing the tissues basically sums up this movie 😂😂
Such an emotional movie. One of the MCU's absolute best. Gunn really knows how to make an amazing film, and i have no doubt he will carry that energy into Superman and beyond
Im expecting a flying entry sequence just like Adam Warlock's "Crazy on You" from this movie
The kid who was on the team at the end, Phyla, seems to be an MCU interpretation of Phyla-Vell, who was the daughter of Mar-Vell in the comics and had Captain Marvel powers. In that last shot it does look like her fists are glowing very similar to how Carol's do...
This movie has my favorite finale seconds of any comic book movie. Nebula and Rocket in particular having finally found happiness makes me tear up.
Love that Rocket had a counter to the gravity powers the High Evolutionary had
It's great that he just briefly mentions testing his gravity boots at the beginning, and they come into play at the end.
The ending of this movie is absolutely beautiful. Even Nebula is screaming out of joy. What a banger of a trilogy.
Eric asking why it still hurts despite already knowing they're gonna die.
Meanwhile here I am rewatching this movie for the 5th time still crying.
Knowing Rocket’s full story now, ending on the shot of him howling in glee towards the sky is the perfect ending for him. The same can be said for Nebula, now having seemingly finally shed the sharper edges of her persona that she was still holding on to.
Eric's reaction to rocket's "hurts" was me, except i was in a theater and instead of running to get tissues I had to just bawl in theaters lol
Thank you.
32:36 It made perfect sense. ever time he tried using the arrow is was all in his head. so right now he used his heart which answered to protect his friends and family
such an awesome movie, Guardians is the best MCU trilogy.
@@galmorzulol what 1 is way better than 2
@@galmorzuI honestly prefer the 1st over the 2nd one.
@@galmorzu Guardians 2 was extremely mediocre compared to the first one. It was almost a bad movie but it was only saved due to its ending
"Hurts" immediately brought a tear to my eye. 1 word but damn it hit so hard.
Your mom was cool. Seems that she raised a cool kid. You were both lucky to have each other.
I've had dogs all my life and I literally didn't think about the fact it was Cgi once throughout the entire movie
But yes all the way through the movie it was emoting and doing things dog actors wouldn't be able to do, it would make no sense to have it be a real dog
Wait Cosmo is CGI? Maybe I just wasnt paying attention but not once I thought she was CG
@@BaldwinIV_of_Jerusalemfacts, I wasn’t looking that hard into it to notice
@@BaldwinIV_of_Jerusalem Same! And I have had many dogs.
43:16 YES CALVIN! I’M SO GLAD YOU GOT IT IMMEDIATELY
I think every animal in this movie including the turtle is cgi. That's how good the cgi is in all of the James gunn's movies even the peacemaker show.
To quote Ryan George
- "And then Rocket makes some fellow experiments mechanical cute animal friends!"
+ "But current Rocket doesn't have any cute animal frien...oh"
This movie definitely has the best marvel movie oneshot
Also the ending and the implications of James gun leaving marvel made it even more emotional. It was the most I cried in a marvel movie
42:15 'My mother died in front of me when I was 8 years old and i have been running ever since.'
thanks flash
Almost burst into tears when Nebula started dancing at the end. Really solidified the conclusion of her arc. One of the best in the MCU.
Cosmo is actually emoting though. I dont think any amout of training can make a dog look like its telekinetically moving a pebble, or 2 huge slabs of concrete or hold 2 ships together. And thats if you ignore the obvious uncomfortable nature of getting a dog in a space suit lmao
I love The Guardians Movies, but Guardians 3 made me cry more than any movie in the last 10 years. Thank you, James Gunn.
I’m kinda shocked that none of them had any reaction to the f-bomb at 21:30. Unlucky that Eric chose that exact moment to say something to the other guys, I guess…
imagine being that guy thats comments stuff like this😂
I'm just so used to hearing swears, I didn't even notice haha! Thank you for pointing it out
I mean considering its common knowledge every movie can get one f-bomb and remain PG-13, they likely did notice it, but never even cross their mind that it was the first for the MCU. No reason to make a big deal of it, if you think its nothing new or special. I know i wouldn't have ever realized it was a big deal without all the attention it got on social media after the film came out

It's amazing how much I fell in love with nebula from the first to third volume.
"I love you guys" Made me tear up.
James Gunn confirmed that yeah, the reason the audience can now finally understand Groot is because he considers us family.
33:20 is pretty much Sokka and the Badgermoles bursting out of the labyrinth in Tale of Two Lovers . 😊
Us being able to understand Groot at the end after all this time really hit different man, that felt like a very personal goodbye almost from James, this movie had me tearing up multiple times in the cinema I swear 😂
I just realized the final shot of Vol 2 is Rocket crying. And the final shot of the trilogy is Rocket screaming in joy.

i love the cosmo's cgi discussion it's like exactly what I would discuss with friends if i had any
James Gunns track record makes me think he'll do superman justice. All his superhero entries have been phenomenal
Plus Cosmo can be super powerful from what I hear so they’re gonna end up needing to use CG anyways during those crazy moments
I'm glad i'm not the only one crying like a baby from this movie
I really like that the people of Knowhere have such respect and reverence for the Guardians. Even when they’re being jerks, the people want to help them or support them, even coming to their rescue when called. Really makes you think how much of a positive influence the Guardians have been.
This movie will never not make me ugly cry and I absolutely love it for that.

"Is he cool?"
"Hell yeah, he's cool."
Peter seeing his grandfather genuinely made me cry and i havent cried at a Marvel project since Endgame, James Gunn is a fucking legend

The reason for the aspect ratio change is that you are watching an IMAX-enhanced version of the film on Disney+. Just like seeing it in an IMAX theater, certain scenes have different ratios to include more picture.
