BMW R1250GS Front Wheel Alignment. An often-overlooked factor when it comes to the action of your motorcycle’s front forks is the front wheel alignment.
Step 1:
Making sure the axle has slid through fully, lightly snug the axle 17mm nut.
Step 2:
Now, tighten the axle 17mm nut, Torque value: 30Nm.
Step 3:
Next, snug the left side T45 pinch bolts, Torque value: 19Nm.
Step 4:
With the right side T45 pinch bolts loosened, make sure the axle carrier floats freely on the axle. This is absolutely crucial. Using your hands, push the axle carrier toward and away from the wheel on the axle. The carrier should move millimeters in either direction without much effort.
Step 5:
Having checked that the axle is free floating, spin the front wheel with some force.
Step 6:
The effect can be created by compressing the forks while the bike is on the stand. Allowing it to float to its happy place on the axle.
Step 7:
Once you’ve determined the axle has found its sweet spot, torque the right side T45 pinch bolts, Torque value: 19Nm.
