Nice review. I find your content a lot more helpful than many other channels. I own a black 2011 E350 4matic sedan, much like several of the ones shown in your video. It is almost seven years old now, and I have had zero issues with it. I use full synthetic Mobil 1 oil and change the oil every 10,000 miles. The E Class is a wonderful car. It drives like a dream, and the ride is very smooth and supple. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about buying one. Just make sure you don't get one where the previous owner didn't take good care of it. No car will be in good shape long-term when the previous owner trashed it and never took care of it.
Nice ! 😊 I own the same one too... but in Arctic White 😊 and I agree with everything you've said 😊... I love how well built and quiet it is too! I purchased MB E350 2013 I did my research on consumer report and notice that the reliability for this year is the same as Lexus es350 (just a note 2014 model is less reliable). I owned a Lexus es300H 2015 ran great but hybrid is not a keeper long term. So far it runs great at 47k no issues.
If only people around the world can buy a taxi trim Mercedes with a small diesel engine. Most people outside Europe don't have that option, and a Mercedes with loads of electronic toys is a reliability nightmare.
As far as I know, MB E class vehicles which are manufactured in Germany as taxies, come from special production line with several considerable modifications comparing to regular E class vehicles and this is why the perform and last better on a long term basis. They are highly desirable on second hand market (especially with lower milleage) and you can hardly get one outside Germany.
Plastic creaking, under-protected wood trim, no volume visually displayed anywhere when listening to audio sources, lack of steering wheel next track or selector (having to hit it below the center screen or scroll into menus to do it) and horizontally stitched synthetic seats, that always tear should be on the con list. Some engine issues were also fixed later in the model cycle. Front and rear parking sensors are NOT standard. They are options. The Face-lift was the 2014 model, developed in 2012 and sold in mid/late 2013. (It wasn't a 2013 model, it was only sold as a 2014 model as its first debut) The rest is quite accurate.
Great video, thank you. My own W212 E200 CDI, 2010 with 140,000 miles and regular engine (9,000 mile oil and filter change)and gearbox servicing (40,00 miles fluid and filter change) is running as new thankfully. 👍
For those who got a taxi, knowingly or unknowingly (a lot of them are repainted), even though they have over 500k km, the parts used for them are long-life parts, so those are more durable than the ones used in ordinary, non taxi models. Plus that the periodic revisions are done 2 times a year and because it's Germany we're talking about here, those revisions are seriously strict. So like one of my friends said (a very skilled mechanic for Mercedes and BMW mostly), if you manage to put your hands on a low mileage taxi that has a few more options inside (comfort, etc), then you've got yourself a very good car. I got a W211 model (beginning of 2009), and it runs to this day really smoothly. Yes, over time I went though the ordinary troubles like changing the fuel pump along with repairing the injectors which fail the moment the high pressure pump gives its last breath, pressure regulators and so on. But if you take care of these things, which os only natural, the car will run perfectly fine.
@@djkasdjkasdjdjdj i suppose it depends on the state the car is when you got it. My dad has a w212 and he got more things replaced in that than me to this point. Since I left this comment I only replaced the EGR valve and then did the regular arms, bushing, service. The engine purrs like a kitten. That’s why I didn’t bother getting another car. Everything needed is done by me at home. I learnt every square cm until this point and it’s honestly a simple car to maintain to me. Very reliable in my books. Reliability is very much influenced by the previous owner/s in which case pretty much every brand is gonna suffer from that more or less.
One of my friends has an E220CDI W212 from 2011 7G tronic Avantgard (Silver color in Avantgard basic package), he bought it new and now he has 780 000Km, serviced at the dealership until 2015m then went at my place (about 230k km), he will come in January for a complete engine service (nothing is broken just to make sure we prevent a future failiure), we will change the chain for the secound time and all the filters, clean the DPF and all the catalitic converters, also we will take a look at the breaks and will change all the fluids. Flywhele is still rocking strong. He drives every day with this car on the open road so this is an equvalant of a 250 000km city driven car (considering the things we changed compared from another w212 taxi car)
I was looking all over for reviews & hints on the W212. I can get my hands on a late 2012 E500 with some AMG Sports Specs with only 95 000km at a very well respected dealer. Thank you for the tips.
That disgusting accent and voice prevented me from watching, it seems to be a common with other videos they think its actually good.. seriiusly disgusting..
Nice video. I have a 2011 E350 4Matic with 175K miles on it. Still runs and drives like new and has been very reliable according to the previous owner and based on my experience so far.
youtoobe169 glad to know I recently purchased 2013 E350 with 46k miles. Hope mine will reach 175k without issues. Did you have service done at dealership?
I own a 2011 E550 with 77,000kms on it and I absolutely love it. I's fully loaded with the air suspension, keyless entry, keyless go, dynamic driver's seat, heated/ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and all of the safety driving assist features. It's also built like a tank. I can see why it's revealed by taxi drivers in Germany.
This is my pimp machine. I have this car with the unlimited 1 million millage warranty until July 2018. If you buy in America buy late 2011-13 for the first gen because it has the 7 G Tronic Plus (70,000 miles between blue ATF change) vs 40,000 mile for the 7 G Tronic (No plus) is 40,000 miles....Both cost $500 to change at the dealer against gravity fill. Also things to look for: Black headliner, AMG sport package with all 5 wheels (4 rims 1 steering). Most have MB text, you want keyless-go look for chrome on door handles... in the USA look for "P2" package cars...
Nasar Azam - P1 - Premium 1 package, P2 - Premium 2 package, and P3 - Premium 3 package. Very few MBZ have the Premium 3 package except for some of the higher end AMG models. Most MBZ come with Premium 1 package.
Take it from someone who owns a wholesale autoparts distributor company...don't buy the version with Air Shocks unless you got serious money laying around you can spend on repairs. When we get calls for these air shocks going out they are not cheap at all. Even if you get shocks that are reman and not new you'll still end up spending a pretty penny for them. Still with the base model E350 or the Sport E350, they're the ones that come with regular shock absorbers.
I have a 2010 E350 and it's the best, most reliable car I have ever owned. The engine, whilst not overly powerful, is surprisingly quick off the mark. The only thing I have to say is OIL CHANGE!! If you keep the oil changes at a decent level the car will run forever. I try to change oil between service intervals so it always has nice clean lubricant.
Just got a 2011 E350 with 60k miles. I don't need it to last forever, but would like to get at least 150k. Very pleased with the car so far. Your comment gives me reassurance.
Im a taxi driver in Amsterdam with the same car. No problems with my e220 diesel. Perfect steering to. I have colleage with the same car already have 650.000 km. Just do the oil change and gear oil. Im searching one now for private use🎉
I picked one up recently. 2011 E550 Premium with AMG package. 109000 KM for 15,550 CDN. It's Pewter grey, so I'm waiting for my blacked out badges to show up, and my electric cutouts. I ordered a blacked out Merc grill from ebay.
Such a helpful video! Makes me a little more comfortable. I have a 14’ E350 Sport with 43K miles and it’s good to know that it’s quality will withstand the test of time!
thanks so much, I have had c300 very nice fast car but small I upgraded to the E350 16 run great lot of room and comfortable. But now I would like the e550 very same look but faster.
yes, the e class is a great car. It is ALOT more reliable long term than a bmw 5 series or an Audi A6. In my opinion the 5 series and a6 from 2011-2018 are way better looking cars inside and out than the e class though. The bmw especially looks amazing inside and the screen on the dash looks 10x better than the benzs. Mercedes took way to long to update the classes interior. But, because of the reliable naturally aspirated 6 cylinder in the e class I would buy that car over the other three. If I was leasing those cars brand new I would choose the 5 series and even the a6 all day long over the e class
Nice review Mate 👍 I've got 350cdi 2010 and must say that it is quite reliable but it had some expensive repairs. 1. Rear Airbags that's around £1000 2. Oil cooler leak £600 Basically parts and labor is quite expensive.
proggyjoe I totally agree. I purchased MB E350 2013 I did my research on consumer report and notice that the reliability for this year is the same as Lexus es350. I owned a Lexus es300H 2015 ran great but hybrid is not a keeper long term. So far it runs great at 47k no issues.
proggyjoe hey joe, will you recommend this car? Is the spare parts affordable with after market option? I am a bout to buy e350 petrol engine and I am afraid of big time repairs, could you share your experience with the car?
Thanks for the great video. If you don't mind, what's the best way to check the real milage on a W212? Do you suggest using a scanning tool which shows errors and check failures in car? I found one with 70,000 KM and it really looks amazing from inside and outside but just to make sure before stepping forward? Appreciate your answer.
Nice direct reviews. Very resourceful and to the point without much drama. I follow your reviews of other cars just to know what's with the auto market. But by far this car seems to be the one with least problems, especially as it's got a taxi stamp as well as the police who drives it in Germany.
Beware of the timing chain rattle in Bluetech 3.0L diesels with 75k on it. The timing chain stretches due to the high heat, and 10k mile oil changes with Mobil 1. Its not a diesel oil and just cant take the diesel soot between long oil changes. You hear the rattle on cold startup and it goes away after about 2-3 seconds......until it finally breaks and now you have a lovely E350 paperweight. Replacement of the chain is complicated, not like the old inline 4s and 6s.
Thanks! I kind of started looking at them and thought about 2014s as well, but seems like 2011 is a good 13k dollars or so cheaper. A bit apprehensive as far as airmatic goes, but I believe there are also conversion kits.
At work I drive a 2018 E220 D, and sometimes V250D, the most amazing thing is the fuel consumption in the E class. It's almost as if the car is allergic to diesel! The E class is for sure a superbly comfortable drivers car although I think if I was a rear seat passenger I would find it a bit cramped. The V class is a different animal altogether and my choice leans toward the V class over the E mainly for the driving position, practicality and the fact that the rear axle doesn't skip over motorway expansion joints. Great vid, thank you
Hi, first of all, I am glad I found your reviews on TH-cam, it's helpful. May I ask you which one is most reliable out of these cars. 1. 2011 Mercedes E250 CDI 2. 2012 BMW 520d 3. 2012 Audi A5
Have a 2010 E350 bought certified used from dealer at 3 years old at slightly over 14,000 mi. Have had it regularly serviced till now w/o much issue except for alternator which went bad late last year and camshaft plugs, engine oil separator and brake vacuum pump earlier this year. Now at 102k + mi. Glad to see that they can go past 200,000 mi. I like the chrome accent down the lower half of the car which the later versions do not have.
If you buy a car like this with 500.000 km on the clock the mileage will probably correct. I don't believe there are cars with 100.000 real km on them.
I swear to God this is the best E class very reliable build quality is the best too all my friends who own it never ever complained I see why they use it for taxis in Germany 🇩🇪 only Russians adjust the mileage of cars if you change the oil regularly you’ll have no problem with this E class
Very nice to drive until I had struts problem … and flex disk - more if wear and tear for my used car or 10 years… so do look out for struts and flex disk problems as car ages.
Thanks for the great review! I bought 2014 E550 Convertible CPO 2.5 years ago and reached 45,000 miles with two problems. One is automatic driving support sensor issue and is replaced twice under warranty. The other one is warped front brake disc maybe due to the heavy body weight. I did not replace the disc yet because the braking capability is still good except keep pumping the brake pedal while pressing the brake. One other issue I am concerning is faint high pitch noise from suspension when cold start in the morning. Once the car is warmed up, the noise is gone. Dealer failed to find the reason. Do anyone have the similar experience? Please help. Besides these three issues, I have no problem yet. After quite disappointed to the two different Mercedes dealer services in my area - they tried to overcharge me three times! - I could find an independent Mercedes service shop with more than 30 years of experiences. All of their customers enjoy very old classic Mercedes. They were very curious why relatively new Mercedes comes to their shop. Those new Mercedes buyers prefer the dealer service, they said. The regular maintenance cost is less than 50% compared to the dealer. They told me the exact same stories that your review told. Only because the fuel tank is made of plastic, there may be an issue in the future. Another issue may come out in the future is the weak transmission, which may cost around 2,500$. Besides these issues, they predict I can enjoy this car quite long distance for a long time to come. Though pricey in the beginning, I hope I can ride this car for a really long time.
Great informational video, thanks. 2014 E350 Estate V6 (non turbo) Automatic Iridium Silver/Black USA... Please, how do I confirm/determine exactly the Engine and Chassis Numbers?
I have a c300 now.. Havent had any problems other than my esl going out and a ripped driver seat cause im fat lol.. I will never change brands.. Merc all tge way.. I wanna purchase a coupe e class 2014-17.. Been looking and doing research
The newer eclass has a different engine i believe the m276 and this has a m272 motors which are basically bulletproof if you buy 2008+ (older had balance shaft that was too soft) the 272 had a almost 15 year run and are known to be tanks towards the end of their run. Just make sure its oil changed on time, since it was such a long intervals takes 10qrts on each change.
I really like your reviews and it helped me a lot on buying some cars. I was wondering if you could do one for the coupe E class C207. Really appreciate it.
My W212 E class is a great car to drive when it behaves itself, BUT BUT BUT recently the rear subframe rusted though from the inside out allowing a support strut to detach and under heavy braking the back of the swings around, its a known fault on the E class and C class. It costs an arm and a leg to repair ! My car is less than 10 years old. It may be beyind economic repair
These are being repaired under warranty by Mercedes, irrespective of age or mileage. The older C classes (W204) can have the same problem. Contact an MB dealer and check it out
buy Eclass petrol and 100% was not use as a taxi or you can buy the petrol and coupe...but taxi cars in germani must be in perfect condition to pass the mechanical control. Eclass is a tank and because of this is use as a taxi because it goes 1 mill km
You are amazing!!! Love your reviews. Please help me decide between a 2015 W212 Bluetec (US Version) and 2015 Audi A8L TDI. Your opinion matters a lot to me. Thanks.
both are still young cars and they have very similar reliability so it’s completely up to you which one you prefer more, but very important is to change all the fluids in time(the fluid change interval chart is in my latest videos) and since both of these cars do have modern diesel engines - you should use them regularly on longer journeys generally speaking the air suspension in the A8 can whitstand a little more - approx 10 years, while the air suspension in this E class most probably won’t last that long
How long a journey would you suggest and how often? As I am about to buy a E220 - would prefer a petrol car as I don't do many miles but hardly any petrol E class cars for sale in the UK
Had my e220 (2010) for 3 years now in this time one of the stretchers from the accesories belt snaped off and broke quite a few things from the engine witch was expensive to fix recently noticed that the car is pulling left when broken after further inspection discovered that the subframe rusted and one of the arms that holds the wheel snaped off and obviously the dpf filter cloded up so had to fix that , overall a good car but very very expensive if it goes wrong
hello sir, great video as always. I live in Canada and my question is hows the reliability of a 2013-2015 E550 4-matic built for the Canadian market? Could I expect premature turbo failure, oil leaks, coolant leaks, and electric water-pump issues? I am comparing the E550 to the BMW 550 of the same year and mileage. I really appreciate a reliable sedan even if it uses more gasoline and makes funny squeaks over time. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

My dad has a 350d 2011 W212 since 2015, and its a beast, basically no issues so far, and its at 200,000 km as of now.
I have the 2014 E350. It's the best car I've ever owned by far.
Milage? And repairs cost lol
Any reliability issues yet? I was thinking of getting a 2015, but hear horror stories of it being costly
@@leaveleague3491 I have one of those and no issues
You have to consider consistent maintenance. A lot of people don’t really get to know their car & get it checked up monthly or whatever
I love mine. Never given any issues. A joy to drive.
But if you take care of these things, which os only natural, the car will run perfectly fine.
lol the w211 are the worse in reliability and yet your still defending it
@@djkasdjkasdjdjdj i suppose it depends on the state the car is when you got it.
I have one thing to say about the Mercedes E class. It never ever disappointed me, it is even more reliable than C class
We own a 2013 model 350CDI Coupe, an absolute delight.
I had a 2007 e350, 168k miles, best car ever!!! not one problem, not one check engine light, got it new!
Baby what u drive now
That should be a w211, isn't it
One of my friends has an E220CDI W212 from 2011 7G tronic Avantgard (Silver color in Avantgard basic package), he bought it new and now he has 780 000Km, serviced at the dealership until 2015m then went at my place (about 230k km), he will come in January for a complete engine service (nothing is broken just to make sure we prevent a future failiure), we will change the chain for the secound time and all the filters, clean the DPF and all the catalitic converters, also we will take a look at the breaks and will change all the fluids. Flywhele is still rocking strong. He drives every day with this car on the open road so this is an equvalant of a 250 000km city driven car (considering the things we changed compared from another w212 taxi car)
Thank you very much, I have been waiting for the W212 review a long time.
I highly appreciate your work and effort! Keep it up!
Eclasses now are even cheaper then c-classes in the Mercs secondhand stores....amazing! Probably mu next one to buy :-)
I was looking all over for reviews & hints on the W212. I can get my hands on a late 2012 E500 with some AMG Sports Specs with only 95 000km at a very well respected dealer. Thank you for the tips.

Had three major problems
Fuel injection, oil leak and water pump.
But was the most comfortable car
What is P2 Package?
Nasar Azam - P1 - Premium 1 package, P2 - Premium 2 package, and P3 - Premium 3 package. Very few MBZ have the Premium 3 package except for some of the higher end AMG models. Most MBZ come with Premium 1 package.
@@rusty3831 what kind transmission fluid they use?

There was a facelift one in my country with 760.000km on the clock!
yes, the e class is a great car.
Thank you for your video. It has been very helpful. Keep up the good work.
Absolute god of car reviews
Nice review Mate 👍
I've got 350cdi 2010 and must say that it is quite reliable but it had some expensive repairs.
1. Rear Airbags that's around £1000
2. Oil cooler leak £600
Basically parts and labor is quite expensive.
Order the parts yourself and just tell them to put them on
I own a 2013 e350, I love this car!
proggyjoe I totally agree.
Great review exactly the kinda review I was looking for before I buy one.
I have a 2010 E260 coupe, very reliable. Best car ever
Thanks for the reviews. Bought a 2010 E550 after watching this review. So far so good 😊 🙏
how is the car now ? i want to buy one too
Car is great. No issues so far
How many miles does it have?
97,000 km/ just over 60,000 miles
Great vid, thank you
2005 e200D here, i get around 5.5-6L/100km this car is nuts.
Hi, first of all, I am glad I found your reviews on TH-cam, it's helpful.
May I ask you which one is most reliable out of these cars.
1. 2011 Mercedes E250 CDI
2. 2012 BMW 520d
3. 2012 Audi A5
Hi
the Mercedes is the most reliable from these three cars
none
Benz of course but it is biturbo👎
Never mentioned the most important model, E63 AMG.
I swear to God this is the best E class very reliable build quality is the best too all my friends who own it never ever complained I see why they use it for taxis in Germany 🇩🇪 only Russians adjust the mileage of cars if you change the oil regularly you’ll have no problem with this E class

It may not be obvious?
Though pricey in the beginning, I hope I can ride this car for a really long time.
very useful review among many useless ones, thank you!
You forgot to mention the famous oil cooler leak on the OM642 3L V6 😊

The newer eclass has a different engine i believe the m276 and this has a m272 motors which are basically bulletproof if you buy 2008+ (older had balance shaft that was too soft) the 272 had a almost 15 year run and are known to be tanks towards the end of their run. Just make sure its oil changed on time, since it was such a long intervals takes 10qrts on each change.

You are amazing!!! Love your reviews. Please help me decide between a 2015 W212 Bluetec (US Version) and 2015 Audi A8L TDI. Your opinion matters a lot to me. Thanks.
both are still young cars and they have very similar reliability so it’s completely up to you which one you prefer more, but very important is to change all the fluids in time(the fluid change interval chart is in my latest videos) and since both of these cars do have modern diesel engines - you should use them regularly on longer journeys
generally speaking the air suspension in the A8 can whitstand a little more - approx 10 years, while the air suspension in this E class most probably won’t last that long
How long a journey would you suggest and how often?
As I am about to buy a E220 - would prefer a petrol car as I don't do many miles but hardly any petrol E class cars for sale in the UK
Had my e220 (2010) for 3 years now in this time one of the stretchers from the accesories belt snaped off and broke quite a few things from the engine witch was expensive to fix recently noticed that the car is pulling left when broken after further inspection discovered that the subframe rusted and one of the arms that holds the wheel snaped off and obviously the dpf filter cloded up so had to fix that , overall a good car but very very expensive if it goes wrong
What?
