    Can you help me Casey? I am at 09:00 of your tutorial following step by step, however, my MediaOut shows only Smartphone screen with black inside and I cannot get Media2 to show that inside the smartphone. It seems like the background has higher priority somewhere than Media2, but I have checked also inputs and outputs and it is the exact copy. Have you experienced a similar issue before and what was the fix? 🙏 Thank you

      Just going to be that guy and say I've had the same issue :'(

      I was having the same problem and I think I found the solution. Click on the MediaIn2 node and in the menu on the right side click on the "Image" panel and make sure Media Source is set to "Background". It was set to Media Pool by default for me and when I switched it, it changed it from just black to having the actual clip I wanted.

    • @OchenDa1503
      @OchenDa1503 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just discovered something else. You can also leave the Media Source as Media Pool, but you may need to adjust the Global In/Out at the top to make sure the clip is visible during the correct frames of the video. Doing the background is a little quicker, but it seems the Media Pool method allows you to more easily replace multiple greenscreens if you need to.

    Great video! Sometimes when doing screen replacements, I'll sample the reflections from the original plate. Only works if the screen isn't over exposed, but when it works it's great for getting the real life lighting.

    • @belfrymanfilms

      @@miss_kolissa if it's clean you can use corner pin in the planar tracker, a few videos around doing that. But a pain oif it's not, have to roto I imagine, or maybe magic mask if you have studio.

    without a green screen.... say if what you were replacing was a book cover with multiple colors... how would you go about removing that as you did in step 2? would I still use the Delta keyer or is there a better way?

    Thanks for the video. But how do you wrap the image so its perspective aligns properly with the screen? - the transform tool you used doesn't allow for any refinement, so if your camera is not exactly square to the phone (filming the background plate), your overplayed screen is going to look dreadful !!!

    Hey Casey, I love the tutorials you put out! I have a question (for anyone else as well), do you know a good place to get free texture PNGs (like your smudge texture you used here)? I've tried to find a sort of crumple PNG to give my maps more texture, but no luck...

    • @dkolendo
      @dkolendo ปีที่แล้ว

      i really don’t mean this’s to be snarky but… but some paper and crumpled it up and take a pic of it. that way you can have them exact crumple you want… plus your are using 100% your own footage and not resorting to stock

    Hi does anyone know how to do this with using corner pins? As you can't export a planar transform with that. Had to do keyframed corner pins due to complex and edge motion (maybe there's another way?). Everything works perfect but the overlay is not going behind the hand controlling the phone

    pro tip: add a delay to each scroll, on any real phone the screen pretty much only starts moving after your finger has already flicked and is off the screen, so delay it by a couple of frames

    I never understood why people want to add grain to anything. We spend thousands on FF cameras with low noise to eliminate such a thing as much as possible, and then some editor goes and adds it digitally. lol.

    • @MartinAaberge
      @MartinAaberge 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because the digital look is soulless. It is good for what it is and as you say, we have spent tons of resources cleaning everything up. In the end, we don't want to sit down and look at game cinematics, we want to watch film :D

    • @ArcanePath360
      @ArcanePath360 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MartinAaberge _You_ might. _I_ want to watch nice clean, true to life visuals. I bet you are one of those people who shun 60fps because it looks like a "soap opera" and rather it be 24fps. Artsy film has it's place. There are some movies that are better in monochrome, however most content benefits from amazing visuals. The only time I can think of grain looking good is maybe in a horror film.

    • @MartinAaberge
      @MartinAaberge 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArcanePath360 what people find pleasing to watch is of course personal preference. We don’t have to like the same things. I definitely think 60fps has no place in film. There is a reason 24fps is standard and roughly 0% of all movies ever made was shot in 60fps. Lots of films add film grain to emulate the grainy look film used to give us. I’d argue most films you see in theaters or Netflix has added film grain. It is a matter of adding a tasteful amount :)

    • @ArcanePath360
      @ArcanePath360 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MartinAaberge Wrong. There were some movies shot in 60fps. They had a special Imax cinema dedicated to showing them off many years ago. It never took off. I think many TV movies have been shot in 50 and downscaled to 25fps for UK TV. I personally hate 24p because of the juddery blur you get when panning, or fast action scenes with jump cuts where the action is so fast you don't even see it, because it's just a blur.

    • @MartinAaberge
      @MartinAaberge 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArcanePath360 that is true. Some action sequences are shot in higher fps and downsampled to 24 for that reason.

    Everyone has their own top 10 at davinci resolve. At 1. I have mr Alex, 2. Casey, 3. Cullen, 4. Darren, etc etc. Then use the usefulness of the tips, calm explanations, very little to no EGO (well, find that out) etc. etc.. For quite some time Essential Video Editing has been number 1 with 100 gold stars if I can give it between 1 and 3 stars. Not because she - for me - lives in the most beautiful country in the world, but just for these many reasons as can be seen in this link: th-cam.com/video/xa920WIglu8/w-d-xo.html and youtube.com/@EssentialVideoEditing
    And if anyone needs a lot of 'cups of coffee' she deserves to be one of them.
