    Well done video with useful details. I had watched about 20 other videos ... mostly about how to open the box and plug in the ODB II port. Thank You! Subscribed.

      I know..... Most videos open the box and read the same info on the sales screen for the tool. Complete waste of time. I don't get excited about watching someone open a box. This video though adds some of the information I was looking for just to get started. Which is great to see someone supply useful information instead of just trying to get view ratings to make some $$$....

    But the only problem is and they do not tell you I made this mistake you get three years of updates but if you click on and ask for added updates, it kicked your free updates out. They don’t tell you this until you do it until you put your email address in and your information I was just looking at prices what it would be and then I get a message across there that I will no longer get the free updates because I put my information in for added updates so that kicks that out or you to send the scanner back within the 30 days and get a new one and it starts over. That’s one way to fix the problem they want to pull that crap.

    Thanks! Learned several new things. For the on unit live graphing, wish they would add both a -x and -y zoom buttons to decrease the default scale. Especially the y scale that defaults from 0 to 20. It auto scales pretty well in the recorded report but you have to leave live data to get to it.

    Still no note of the inability of this unit to graph the function of the wide-band A/F sensor in live data. They claim it will be made useful in the next update to be released 01/24. You have to record the data stream then look at it in Data View

    Great video. I just ordered a D7 at a price I couldn't refuse. I did order another brand at a good price. Had more bells and whistles but 1st operation was to program a key fob for my 2011 Challenger. There are D7 videos showing the steps. Problem with the other brand was, it asks for the PIN code. I backed out, tried every combination of screens. No PIN displayed. I checked for videos on that brand. A few videos with other cars makers. Nothing for any Dodge. I looked at the D7 videos and tried to see if the other brand followed that screen sequence. It always skipped the screen to display PIN code. It jumped to the screen to enter PIN. Kept backing out them the car computer locked me out. Too many attempts. I guess getting to the request for the PIN counts as 1 attempt even if you do not attempt to enter a PIN. I checked the specs on the other brand. Says it programs keys. Called support where they told me I had to buy a specific tool from them that programs keys. Of course I sent that one back and good thing. Next day there was a flash sale on the D7. Lesson being. Not all scanners do what they advertise. As for videos. You do a good job of training, I used to be an instructor in the army for 4-wheel vehicles. One suggestion. Think of 2-3 ways to explain details. Which you did cover but most videos lack in that area,. And of course different operating systems are a little different. I use Linux but it is not difficult to use the info you supply and apply it to the way my laptop operates. I intend on adding a few videos myself since I have all the required programs and we need more training films. Keep up the great work,

    Where can we find a source for the normal values?

    • @mrdiyguy123
      @mrdiyguy123  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a most interesting question. Keep in mind a sensor on a BMW may have an output voltage that decreases as temperature rises. However a Mercedes may have an output voltage that increases as temperature rises. So there's probably not a typical set of values for a particular type of sensor across all manufacturers. However the interpreted value by the computer from a sensor should be standard. For example a car that is running at normal operating temperature likely has a head temperature of between 80 and 120° C. I like your question though and would love to see a list of typical interpreted values for all types of sensors that are on a car. Regretfully I don't have that knowledge.

      Bosch book isn't bad for values, since so many sensors are Bosch, otherwise Mitchell, online or dealer if lucky.

    Good guidance. Now If I could only get my D7 so speak proper 2018 Traverse language/syntax. all attempts to 'test' any actionable device, i.e. windows, wipers, door locks etc. return argument out of range error. But the email report function is worth its slowness scanning (autoscan) missing modules as it works its way thru it list.

    • @mrdiyguy123
      @mrdiyguy123  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You should open the ticket with X Tool Tech by clicking the top right hand side icon present on many of the diagnostic screens. That will generate an email and include information relevant to the issue so the next tool can help you best solve it. Taking this action is the only way they will learn about issues with certain Vehicles because obviously they cannot test with every combination of vehicle that exists. I have done this before and they are very responsive and receptive.

      @@johnmitchell8925 Thanks. After several weeks working on my Opel Tigra I bought an Xtool D7. My cheap readers found no faults. The D7 likewise. 3 weeks daily frustrating exchanges with Xtool I gave up and a garage took the car. They checked my work and didn't have a clue. Latest news is oil in the ECU connector, I suspect from oil pressure switch by capillary action. Mechanic never heard of it. He's sent ECU to be tested.
      Thanks.

    Question about the modules that are listed, after an AutoScan. Now with Topology this is laid out nicer. How do we know if a module is really there, but communications has been lost with it, maybe due to a broken can-bus circuit, or the module is just bad.
    The reason I ask this is, when I Auto Scan my 2014 Silverado there are few modules greyed out, I don't think this a problem, because my Silverado is in very good condition with no problems. I'm assuming these modules possibly for different variants of the Silverados. But what if I was working on a vehicle in poor condition, and trying to determine .... is that module really there ???? I've seen Ivan on Pine Hollow Diag do a 'health scan' and say "oh there's no communication with that xxxx module".

    • @iam1smiley1
      @iam1smiley1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a D9 pro and notice the same thing! I haven't missed a problem yet because of this bit don't think this tool is reading all modules properly, lie I'd swear they are there but the scanner isn't picking them up. So far I like the older X-431 Launch we have at work better.

    Does this tool have the same pre set values in live data that are known for the car Like the Autel Scan Tool?
    I like this tool better (more options), from what i can see. Unfortunately , you can set custom set values, but what i you don't the min/max values for all your sensors. Is there an option to download or collect all sensor min/max values?
